My ipod shuffle 2nd Gen plays the music I have already on but neither
my mac nor my windows 7 pc recognise it and it no longer charges.
Help please

If you've tried the iPod on multiple computers and it's playing fine, just not working with a PC or Mac I would have to say it's most likely your dock/cable. Try using a new one, or a friends.

Try:
- Reset the dock
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
Otherwise you are out of luck. Apple is not making any more update for the 4G.
Also check with Phillips. Maybe they have an firmware update available

Ipod Shuffle 2nd gen - no lights when using mains charger

Am going on hols shortly so bought a mains charger for my shuffle - when I plug it in, the orange light flashes and then goes off - shouldn't it stay on constant orange then turn green when it's charged? it did the same with both mine and my partner's ipod and I know mine needed some charging.

Purchased a generic USB charger today. After connection LED light on ipod flashed thrice (orange) and then LED switched off automatically. Tested the voltage out put through dock pins and compared with another mains charger (Apple certified) which works. Voltage at the two data pins (Top 2) showed +3 V in the charger(that works) but 0 V on the chager which did not work. The other two pin (bottom +ve, next -ve) showed +5 V and 0V respectively on both the charger. My conclusion is that the data pin connections for shuffle might be different for some reason. Any body knows anything about it. In Google I fount one picture which showed that there is a circuit board within the dock. The Dock for Shuffle 2nd Gen is not just a USB to 3.5mm connector.

Sounds like it's still under warranty (one year). Take it back for replacement.

Why is my iPod Shuffle(2nd Gen) constantly deleting songs by itself? And how do I stop it?

I have an iPod Shuffle, 2nd generation, and it keeps deleting all the songs in it. After putting songs in it, again, I never sync it to my computer to avoid any problems. I don't have any podcast tracks to avoid any problems, because I've read that sometimes the iPod gets confused or a conflict happens and it erases everything. If the iPod stops working cause the battery is depleted, it shuts off but also deletes anything in it. Whats the problem and how do avoid this problem other than keeping it charge? I think, if I ever charge the thing from a wall charger, it will delete the songs again.

There may be data corruption on the iPod's storage. You should probably try doing a Restore using iTunes. When you connect the shuffle, the button for Restore is on the iPod's Settings screen in iTunes.
The Restore will erase the iPod and reinstall its software, with default settings. If data corruption is the cause, the Restore should fix it.

IPod Nano 4th gen - screen flickers, won't turn on, isn't recognised by computer or iTunes.

My 4th gen iPod Nano has been playing up.
When I connect it to my computer or a dock, the screen flickers with the Apple logo. Once unplugged, it won't turn back on and the screen goes completely black. I tried to reset it numerous times (both connected and unplugged) but that didn't help at all.
I tried to see if I could fix it by restoring it and putting it in disk mode, but the iPod isn't recognise by any of the computers in my house and doesn't appear in either iTunes or 'My Computer' so that really doesn't help. I'm positive it's not an issue with my computer or USB cable because the other iPods in my house connect just fine.
Any idea on how to fix this?

If you have synced your iPod touch to a computer, it should be relatively easy to fix. Plug the iPod into the computer to which it is synced. Once plugged in, hold the home (square button on front) and the power button on the top for approximately 10-15 seconds. After the apple disappears from your screen a couple times, a new screen will popup indicating to start iTunes on your computer. Once you start iTunes, you will be given the option to begin the restore mode and then choose to restore your particular iPod. Once again, you have to had synced your iPod to a computer to utilize this option. Not sure how I figured it out, but I finally did! Good luck and let me know if it does/doesn't work for you.

If that doesn't work, then sorry but the jailbreak may have permanently corrupted your iPod. Since we cannot help with jailbroken devices in these forums, you'll need to look elsewhere for additional suggestions and advice.

IPod frozen (bright screen) and not recognised by computer

I have a 5th Gen IPod 30GB that is frozen with a bright screen? no text? I have plugged it into my IMac and carried out all the normal reset procedures, however, the computer does not recognise the IPod as been fitted? Any help would be gratefully received!

I tried uploading some songs from my friends computer but when I plugged it into his usb port, it said the device wasn't recognizable. All I wanted to do was upload some of his songs from iTunes but that never happened...oh well.

New iPod shuffle won't stay on, charge, and not recognized by computer

My daughter won a new iPod Shuffle that as far as we know has never been opened/used till today. We have iTunes downloaded and working on our computer. But when plugging in iPod via provided USB cable, the computer (and I've tried two different ones) will not recognize anything is plugged in. Also, I don't even think the iPod is working at all. The amber light only comes on for one second when turned on/plugged in, then goes off. I know the USB ports I've tried to use it with are adequate (i.e. fast/powerful enough) because they are the main USB ports of the computers (no hubs or dual ports) and they work with other Apple products just fine (including other iPods), so that can't be the problem. Help?! She's so disappointed.

I have exactly the same problem with both my ipod shuffles. That suggests to me that it is a problem with the ipods rather than my PC or computer software. I'm surprised that no Apple tech has suggested a solution yet.

IPOD Nano works fine in Itunes, but doesn't show in explorer or My Computer

When I first installed the Second Gen Nano, Windows explorer picked it up immediately as a drive and I could brouse all files on the Nano. My previously installed Itunes came up and stated I had to upgrade to a newer version for it to work.
After installing the newest Itunes, it works perfectly, but, the Nano no longer is found on my explorer or in My Computer. What happened?
My devices show the correct drivers and everything is working well. It is like Apple no longer wanted me to view the Nano outside of Itunes.

Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately, the drive assignment and letter (P) initially used for the Nano is open and available, so there are no conflicts there. Further, Disk Management only identifies the HD's I have and no others.
Everything appears cogent and within parameters, yet windows does not recognize the Nano (with exception to operational device drivers), while Itunes does and works just fine.
The issue has something to do with the newest version of Itunes, as the older Itunes version couldn't read the Nano but explorer could.

How do I silence my Moto X 2nd Gen? I want it totally silent and not vibrate either...

I just got this phone a couple days ago and I cannot figure out how to make it totally silent. I didn't see it in the manual or online anywhere. Some said to press and hold the power button and it will come up as an option, but not for me. When i pres the power button, "Power Off" is the only thing that pops up. Please help. My phone is keeping me awake at night because of this.

Verizon can't help you with it. Google made this change with Lollipop. A lot of people have put enhancement requests through Google groups.
Currently the best you can do is to set up priority and that's it. You can have it setup where calls go through and all else can be "silent". which is done at the home screen tap the volume button and you will have 3 options under the volume. None will make no sounds happen. I believe the vibration is also silent, but I don't remember.

IPod Touch (2nd gen) not recognized by computer and iTunes

When I connect my iPod Touch to my laptop, running Windows 7, neither the computer nor iTunes recognizes my iPod. Everything worked before with Vista.
When I plug the iPod into the computer the iPod does turn on put the battery doesn't charge and the iPod does not show on the Device Manager.
I have gone through and uninstalled and the reinstalled iTunes, QuickTime, Apple Software Update, Apple Mobile Device Support, Bonjour and Apple Application support. With no positive result. In fact I have done it twice.
In going back to make sure everything had installed I have noticed several things.
The Apple Software Update, Bonjour, iTunes folders and Common Files are located in Program Files(x86) There are also copies of the Bonjour, iPod, Common Files, and iTunes folders are also located in the Program Files folder. Are these file locations correct?
Also, I have read somewhere that there should be usbaapl.cab, usbaapl.inf, usbaapl.sys files. I can't find any of these file. Are these files necessary?
Any help will be appreciated.

In my case it was being identified by Windows as a camera. I tried un-installing and re-installing iTunes and all the other Apple apps with no luck. Was almost ready to throw in the towel when I did one last search for alternate solutions and found the following instructions to reinstall the drivers, but instead of having the system look to the c:\Windows\inf or c:\windows\system 32 folders for the drivers, the path is changed to C:\program files\common files\Apple\Apple Mobile Support\Drivers, which is apparently where Vista installs the drivers. Once I changed the path the driver properly reflected the iTouch as a USB device, and not a digital camera. Try this if you are having similiar issues.+
+Here are the steps:+
+1. Verify you have the following files usbaapl.cat, usbaapl.inf & usbaapl.sys in the following directory "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers"+
+2. Log in using an ADMINISTRATIVE account+

+14. Single left click NEXT and keep clicking through until " Apple iPod USB Driver " is detected, if no list appears then you should see the little animated circle thingie spinning. It's looking and working. Be patient.+
+15. Hopefully you will get a successful message.+
+16. The correct drivers(s) are now installed.+
+17. Start up iTunes, and see if you iPod is detected again.+
