IPod Shuffle, 2nd generation won't work with Windows 8

My Windows 8 operating system does not recognize my 2nd generation iPod Shuffle in My Computer.  My iTunes does not list a device, and my new songs won't sync. I see a lot of posts relatng to problems with the 2nd generation shuffle and new software.  My problem may be Windows 8. Any ideas?

  • Ipod shuffle (2nd generation) won't reset for windows

i just bought a brand new i pod shuffle (2nd generation) a few days ago and I've spent those few days in frustration. I've downloaded i tunes, plugged the shuffle in and followed the directions for starting it up. it then goes onto say that it needs to reset the device to be able to work with windows, i proceed to follow the instructions to reset it and before it finishes, it comes up with an unknown error. I've tried downloading the reset application for the shuffle but it doesn't work either. please help somebody?!

  • My ipod nano (2nd generation) will cont connect with windows or itunes, windows says it has had reported errors??? any help? havnt used ipod in over a week and now it wont work with my computer

my ipod nano (2nd generation) wont connect with windows or itunes, i used it last week (charged it through USB) then this week when i connect it (once again through USB) it wont work, it says "windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems" any help? ive made sure my itunes is up to date, done a reboot on my computer and ipod and still nothing..help please

This could either be a conflict with the iPod's docking port, the iPod's USB sync cable, or even the USB port you are plugging the iPod into on your PC.  So the first thing I would try and do is plug the iPod into a different USB port on your PC.  Make sure it's a high powered USB 2.0 port as they provide a higher power throughput than older USB ports or even the ones that are sometimes available on the front of the tower.
It might help to disconnected all other USB devices from the PC (minus the keyboard and mouse) and reboot the PC. Then reconnect the iPod once again.
If still no luck, swap out the cable with another known working cable to rule out the possibility of a damaged or faulty cable.
Lastly, plug the iPod into another PC to see if it's recognized there.  If the same error appears on another machine, it's likely a hardware issue with the Nano meaning you'll want to have it serviced or replaced.

  • Ipod shuffle 2nd gen won't work, light flashing green and orange

My 2nd gen ipod shuffle won't work and the light is flashing green and orange.  Or green, orange, orange, orange.  I've Reset, Restarted, Restored and Re-installed, so before I chuck it out I wondered if there were any other suggestions to get it working?  Thanks,

Sounds like it's still under warranty (one year). Take it back for replacement.

I just had to buy a new 2nd generation iPod touch because the last one broke. I was mad to find out that my FM tuner and my ihome wasn't supported by the new iPod. Is there any way I won't have to buy all new accessories?

Did you previously have a 2nd generation Touch? On this new Touch, did you install the 3.0 update?

  • Ipod shuffle (1st generation) won't sync with iTunes 7.0.2.16

iTunes locks when I attempt to load music from any music folder. iTunes will recognize my iPod after resetting it using the "iPod reset utility", but will lock if I try to drag and drop, or Autofill. However, iTunes will AUTOFILL from MUSIC folder at startup following use of "iPod reset utility". If I try to change the music or load a PODCAST, iPod locks and will not sync. I have tried the five r's, but no luck.

That is about normal. You can maximize battery life by changing some settings. See:
    Apple - Batteries - iPod
Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for with a new battery for $79. They do not fix yours.
    Apple - iPod Repair price
A third-party place like the following will replace your battery for less. Google for more.

Replace the battery yourself if you are up to it. You can purchase a replacment for about $10

  • Problem with my ipod shuffle 2nd generation

My ipod shuffle 2nd generation was fully charged and is able to sync with my computer but when i turn on nothing happens it does not blink and no music came out what should i do?

It's not good to store a rechargeable lithium-based battery completely discharged for an extended period.  The chemicals that make the battery work will age in a way can make the battery incapable of holding a charge.  Since that's a 2nd gen shuffle, it's been sitting unused for about six years.  I have a 2nd gen shuffle, and it still works well, but I've charging and discharging the battery at least once each month through normal use.
You may be able to have the battery replaced, but the cost (parts and labor) is likely to exceed the price of a brand new 4th gen shuffle (about $50).

  • Problem with iPod Shuffle 2nd generation

    Hi,
Today I tried to start my iPod shuffle 2nd generation, but it didn't show up in iTunes. I didn't use my iPod for a long time, however I tried to listen to music and everything was just fine. Only when I tried to sync. with iTunes it didn't show up. I followed all the instructions on Apple.com such as reset the iPod, load the battery to full, restart my computer, but nothing worked. I do have the newest version of iTunes.
I have the newest iMac, running with bootcamp Windows 7. This must not be a problem, because I also sync. my iPod 3rd generation just before trying to sync. my iPod 2nd generation and the iPod 3rd generation worked just fine.
Does anyone have any idea what I'm doing wrong or how to get my iPod 2nd generation to show up in iTunes again??
    Thanks a lot!

Thanks, that was just it. I used my 3G iPod shuffle connection cable to sync. with my 2G iPod shuffle. Strange that it is impossible to connect the same product, while it is possible to connect the iPhone with older connection cables to  iTunes without any problems.
Also strange that I couldn´t find any information about this on the Apple website. Thanks anyway!

  • IPod Shuffle 2nd generation syncing problem with iTunes 7.3

When I updated my iTunes to iTunes 7.3, I had problem syncing my songs with my iPod shuffle 2nd generation. The error read something like "Ipod shuffle attempt to copy to disk "iPod's name" failed. An error occurred (-54)". I reverted back to iTunes 7.2 and the problem does not seem to arise anymore.

Well seems to me the only way to solve my problem was
to revert back to iTunes 7.2. I tried iPod reset
utility. restoring to default, resetting, everything
I could think of when I used iTunes 7.3 but none of
them succeeded. When I reverted to iTunes 7.2, it
worked like a charm again. Of course we would all
like the latest version of iTunes on our computers
but this problem has made me stay with iTunes 7.2 for
the moment. And does anyone feel that iTunes 7.3 is
    so laggy?
Regardless of earlier comments on 7.2 vs 7.3, I think you've got something else going on with your system, iTunes 7.3 isn't laggy on my meager 2001 Dual-USB iBook G3 500MHz with 640MB running 10.3.9.
