Ipod Shuffle 3rd gen is working great and is perfect for my needs
I just wanted to post that my iPod Shuffle 3rd gen is working great. No problems and I love it. I use it mainly for listening to podcasts. As soon as I turn it on it begins on the podcast I last listened to --where I was in the middle of the podcast. I stick the Shuffle in my pocket and all I ever have to do is use the headphone controls to pause, move forward or backward in the podcast, skip to the next one, or go back to the beginning, etc. I also love to be able to use the volume control on the headset without having to fumble around for my Shuffle in my pocket where it is safely tucked and won't get knocked off or damaged. I listen to my Shuffle for a few hours a day when doing yard work, household tasks and driving back and forth to work.
All the features are working just the way they are supposed to on my Shuffle. There are a bunch of negative posts about the Shuffle and I just wanted to say that mine works great and I enjoy it very much. I have had the Shuffle for 4 weeks and have not had any problems whatsoever. I own several other models of iPods (first version Mini, Video 60gb, Nano 1 & 2, Shuffle 1,2,& 3, Touch) But the handsfree/visual free ability of this 3rd gen Shuffle is great and very useful for me.
Just my two cents.
Linda,
No I just use one earbud in my ear. I put the earbud in my right ear--away from the window side and it is also the one with the in-line controls, so that works great. I don't put it on very loud either.
If I am not listening to a podcast and just want to hear music I sometimes will plug it into a line-in cable, but then I don't have a choice on what I am listening to. It's not a real problem because I like all the songs I have on it anyway. I can still adjust the volume on the car stereo, so that is the way I do it.
I am watching closely for any accessories that might allow a headphone splitter to work, but nothing so far. I am sure we will see some useful additions in the near future. And by the way, the earbuds that came with it work great in my ears--never fall out and are comfortable to me.

How do I re-format windows iPod Shuffle 3rd gen to work on Mac?
I Have an iPod shuffle 3rd gen that works perfectly well on a windows laptop, however I want to link it to my MacBook.
When I plug the iPod into my Mac it charges but doesn't appear in iTunes.
I have restored it to factory settings using iTunes on Windows but it still doesn't appear on my MacBook.
Anyone know how to solve this issue?
Thanks! This link applies to your iPod not being recognized by iTunes, http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1410

My Ipod shuffle 3rd gen starts playing songs with some kind of interference until it stops playing, when I turn it off and on again it starts playing from the first song all over again, and once it sounded like the music was slowing down. First I thought it was the earphones, but I exchanged them for newer ones and so far its the same
You may want to do a Restore on the shuffle in iTunes. The Restore button is on the shuffle's Summary screen in iTunes. This will erase the shuffle, re-install its software, and set it to default settings. If it's a software or data corruption glitch, the Restore should fix it. After the Restore, reload or resync your songs, and try it again. As a test, you may want to initially select a small number of songs to put back on the shuffle.

My iPod Shuffle (3rd gen) isn't responding to my Apple headphones!
When I got my iPod Shuffle (3rd gen), it came with headphones. Since then I've been using these headphones for all my Apple products, so sometimes I use the remote earphone controls to turn up and down the volume, pause songs, play songs, play next songs, and play previous songs. Now, this doesn't work anymore because my iPod Shuffle (3rd gen) doesn't respond to my remote earphone control's commands. Why does this happen? My iPod Shuffle (3rd gen) is updated to the latest version too.

ThanksHey paralelopipak,
Thanks for the question. After reviewing your post, it sounds like the headphones have a volume problem only on this iPod. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help you resolve or isolate the issue.

What have you tried so far in terms of troubleshooting this issue? Are you plugging the iPod into a high powered USB 2.0 port on the back of your PC? Have you tried a different USB cable?
What happens if you try to reset the device with it still connected to the PC?
How to reset iPod
Has this iPod ever worked on this PC or is this the first time you have time you have tried connecting it?
Have you carefully worked through each and every single suggestion in this Apple support document?

My IPOD shuffle 3rd gen was gifted by my sister in early 2010, the earphones needs to be replaced...whom should i contact?
i have seen online that it would be replaced by the Apple team. Can I still avail this opportunity. Earphones has similar problems listed online.
http://www.apple.com/support/headphones/replacementprogram/
Please suggest.I'm not aware of any Apple program that "replaces" iPod shuffle earphones (beyond the warranty period).
However, you can buy a replacement
http://store.apple.com/us/product/MB770G/B
This one has a built-in microphone, which will not be needed for a shuffle, but the control buttons will work with the 3G iPod shuffle, as indicated by the "This accessory is compatible with the following" listing. -
My iPod shuffle 3rd Gen icon has been replaced by a generic drive icon
I connected my iPod shuffle 3rd Gen up via iTunes today only to find that Lion was displaying a generic drive icon for it in place of the iPod shuffle icon. I've since tried restoring the iPod using iTunes, and re-starting my MacBook Pro but it's not fixed it. There doesn't seem to be a standard icon library in Lion and I can't find any discussions about this on the various Apple support pages. Any ideas how to get it back?
You need to reinstall iWork from the original source or from backup. If you installed it from a DVD, the Mac App Store version isn't free.

Ipod shuffle 3rd gen volume control issue
I have IPod Touch and IPod Shuffle 3rd gen and I bought a new pair of headphones in the Apple store in London few months back and the headphones were totally fine when used in IPod Touch. Yesterday I put them into my IPod Shuffle and I am experiencing a problem with the volume - I can't put it up or down.
It's not the "limit volume" thing, I already tried that...
Any suggestions..?Hey paralelopipak,

HT1477 ipod shuffle 3rd gen is not charging
When I place my ipod shuffled 3rd gen into the charging dock it does not charge. Other ipods are able to charge in the dock but not this particular ipod. Is there some kind of reset besides turning off and on for the shuffle?
Has this 3G Shuffle ever been able to charge from this particular dock or is the first time you have tried connecting it? Does the dock's manufacturer state that the dock is capable of charging a 3G Shuffle?
Does the iPod still charge when you connect it to a USB port on your PC/Mac or when you connect it to a USB wall adapter?

The iPod was working fine, then after about 45 minutes of use i looked as if battery drained.
I charged it fully again (until green light) and then turned it on, green light and then orange light blinks five times...
I can't play /pause, or turn volume up or down from the remote... tried with original Apple earphones, and two Bose MIE2i (original and sports models)...
Any ideas of what can be wrong? or how can I fix it?
Already tried restoring it to factory settings.... it didn't solved the problem...Hey there PakoArreola!

IPod shuffle 3rd gen: Can't turn it on, but iTunes recognizes it
I have an iPod shuffle 3rd generation. A couple of days ago, it stopped working during playback (I think, the power was on at least).
The computer/iTunes recognizes it, and I have reset it to factory settings. However, I can't turn it on (the power light is not lit, except when I connect it to the computer/charger).
I have tried setting the switch to off and waiting 10 seconds before setting it to on, but that does not work.
Any suggestions?
Unfortunately, it is out of warranty.Still haven't found any solution, but I bought a iPod nano 6th gen to replace it (it is not much larger than the old shuffle). I hope it lasts 2-3 years at least.
At least I can still use the old earphones with the built-in "remote" together with the nano. -
IPod Shuffle 4th gen cannot play music and no lights but shows up in PC
I've been using the iPod Shuffle 4th gen for almost 3 months since I bought it at September 2010. Since yesterday, my iPod hasn't been playing musics or showing up any lights, same thing when plugged to computer and it didn't showed up in iTunes neither. Today, finally the light lit up when I plugged it into my computer and showed up in iTunes too. But, unfortunately, I still can't play any music. The light goes off every time I remove my iPod from the computer and it is not responsive to any clicks whatsoever. I've tried restoring the device and syncing all the songs back in, it didn't worked either.
SOME HELP PLEASE? thanksI am having the same problem with mine.
When connected to the PC it seems to be ok. All the light signs are working (sync, battery, etc.). I can access it by iTunes, add or delete music, etc.
But when I unplugg from the PC it will not respond to anything.
I have tried the hard reset and to restore it...no change at all.
Anyone can help!?
