IPod Shuffle 4th Generation is not turning "ON"

Hi.....
I used to use my iPod Shuffle 4th generation when I go to GYM, but then I stopped using it for a while (  1 or 2 monthes ), then  I went back to use it again, but it's not charging & not turning "ON" at all.
Can anyone help me please?

Take the iPod Nano to an Apple store or an AASP.  Whichever is more convenient for you.

  • IPod shuffle 4th generation will not turn on?!?!

My iPod shuffle 4th generation flashes red for 3 seconds when connected to the USB charger but will not turn on, charge or connect to the computer.  This means i can not go through the basic trouble shooting reset steps.  I tried turning it off waiting 10 seconds and turning it on.  I made sure the buttons were no diabled.  I updated my iTunes and updated all software on my computer and restarted it.  I also made sure the USB port works by putting something else in- it works.  I am running out of options given on the apple website!!! WHAT DO I DO?

    Hello StefiPod,
It sounds like your iPod is not charging, and you have already restarted your computer as well as updated your iTunes application and the issue persists. You have also verified that the USB port works for other devices.
I recommend these troubleshooting steps from the article named:
iPod shuffle troubleshooting and service FAQ
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1412
Your iPod shuffle may need to be reset. See this article for steps to reset iPod shuffle. Resetting does not affect your music or data files.
If a red light is blinking or continuously on, your iPod battery may not be charged. You can find information on charging iPod shuffle here. To find out how to check the battery life, see the article "Checking the charge." To get the most out of your battery, be sure to check out our battery tips and tricks article.
If none of these steps worked, you may need to restore your iPod shuffle software. Please be aware that doing so will delete all your files on iPod shuffle.
If the issue persists, then your iPod may need service. Follow the section toward the bottom labeled:
    Get Service
If you've tried all the appropriate troubleshooting steps above and those found on the iPod shuffle Support page, and have determined that your iPod shuffle needs service, you can request service online.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,

  • IPod shuffle 4th generation will not connect to iTunes.

iPod shuffle 4th generation will not connect to iTunes.  Windows Vista and iTunes, all updates current.  Cables secure & connected.  Device driver will not load.  iPad will connect when tried with several other computers.  When I try to connect it will hang iTunes until I re-boot.  iPad does NOT appear in Windows Explorer either.

Oh, so the iPad DOES work fine connected to the same computer and the same port.  I thought you said it did not in the first post, but maybe you got that working (or I misunderstood before).
NOTE:  When things are working properly, the shuffle will not appear in Windows Explorer (except when actively syncing), unless you have Enable disk use turned on for the shuffle.  So not seeing it in Windows Explorer may not be a problem.
Is this shuffle a new purchase... so it did not previously work for you on this computer?  If so, make sure that the shuffle end of the USB cable is fully inserted into the headphones jack.  The fit can be tighter than expected, and it may seem connected, but is not.  For a surprising number of people, this was the problem.
In iTunes, is the sidebar (along left side of window) visible.  If it is hidden, from the iTunes menu bar, under View, select Show Sidebar.  When there are no devices connected, the heading DEVICES should not appear in the sidebar.  When you connect your iPad, DEVICES should appear, with the iPad listed below.  If you connect the shuffle, it is be added to the list under DEVICES.  To confirm, you do not see the shuffle listed there under DEVICES, when it is connected?
When you connect the shuffle, does its light on the shuffle do anything?

  • Ipod shuffle 4th generation device not shown on itunes, not charging. Seeing red light when connecting to USB charger for a few seconds, then nothing. How to fix this?

My ipod shuffle 4th generation was working fine for a few months. My son then bit the USB charger. I bought a new USB charger, but the shuffle is not charging and not showing up under the devices in itunes. It also doesn't appear in my windows under my computer. Just to note. I also have a new ipod touch. I am able to charge that fine on the same computer using the USB charger. The device (Ipod touch) does show up in windows and in itunes. The shuffle doesn't show in either place.
I have tried to use the apple support page. I went through each step. I made all of my USB drives not shut down, I had my computer on all night to try and charge the shuffle. All I see is a red light that appears on the shuffle for a few seconds when I first connect the USB charger to the computer. Then, nothing. Since this was working a bit ago, I don't think that I have a defective shuffle. The USB charger is brand new, I just picked it up yesterday from the apple store. I have the short one, and the longer cable as well.
Any help that you might be able to give to me would be much appreciated. My daughter is missing listening to her music. Thanks!

Instead of "charger," you should call it the "USB cable" to avoid confusion.  When started reading your post, I was thinking, how can your son break a USB power adapter (the "charger" that plugs into a wall socket) by biting it...
Since you got the product with the two USB cables at the Apple Store, you have the right replacement (some third-party replacements are for the 2nd gen shuffle and do not work with the 4th gen shuffle).  Make sure you are completely inserting the plug into the headphones jack.  The fit may be tighter than expected, since the connectors are new.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3572
If you tried both of those cables, it would be unlikely that you got two faulty cables in one package.  If a new USB device has been added to the computer between the time it worked with the old cable and now, there could be a problem on the USB bus (such as not enough power or a device conflict).
As a test, you should shut down (power off) the computer and disconnect all USB devices (including any hub), except for standard keyboard and mouse (if used).  Do this to reset the shuffle

Start up computer, run iTunes, and connect the shuffle by itself to a direct USB port on the computer.

  • What do you do when your ipod nano 4th generation will not turn on even if you charge it?

i have a 4th generation ipod nano and it died so i tried charging it for an hour and it wouldn't turn back on. then i connected it to my computer and it would not even turn on or show up on my computer. What do i do?

You could try taking it to a Mac store and see what they have to say, but it might just be dead.

  • HT1719 my ipod shuffle 4th generation will not charge or connect to the computer, I updated iTunes and I got a new charger.

My iPod Shuffle will not charge or connect to the computer. I updated iTunes and bought a new charger. Any ideas? Thanks

My question was, when you connect the shuffle to USB, does the light come ON?  From the way you answered, I'm not sure if you are answering that question, or saying that the light does not come ON when you move the power switch on the shuffle to the ON position.
Also, what happens when you connect the shuffle to your computer by itself, with nothing else connected to USB?
If you get no response (no light) from the shuffle when you connect it to USB by itself, trying both the original USB cable and a new one that is compatible with the 4th gen shuffle, try connecting something else to the USB port to confirm it is working properly.  It would be best to test the USB port with something similar, such as a USB flash drive or external drive.  If you can confirm the USB port works properly, it is likely that the cause for this problem is on the shuffle, such as a faulty headphones jack or bad logic board.
If the shuffle is less than one year from purchase date, it is under warranty.

  • IPod shuffle 4th generation is not charging, not recognized by my computer and laptop (Windows 7) and does not show up in iTunes

I have done all the troubleshoots and reset functions but my iPod shuffle is still not working. Every time I plugged my iPod it only shows red light that lasts for about 3 seconds and will disappear after some time. I've been using the same computer and laptop back then, and it stopped working since the last week of October.

  • My ipod touch 4th generation will not turn on

I was using it for like 5 minutes and I put it away in the side compartment of my backpack and when I went to use it like two hours later it would not turn on, the low battery image did come up and even when I plugged it into my ipod dock it still did not come on, now I have it plugged into my computer and still nothing. I bought it when it first came out about october or november I think. I guess my question is will the replace it because I didn't do anything to cause this to happen.

Well there is one thing you can try... hold down the home button and lock/sleep button at the same time and don't forget to hold it. It should turn on. (By the way what you are doing is a restart, if you were on your iPod Touch on the home screen and you did thins it would reboot, and that is exactly why you are doing this)

  • HT201263 my iPod touch (4th generation) will not turn on completely nor will it sync. When I turn it on I get the Apple screen, then navy blue, then white/gray,then black, then Apple again and the loop continues. I tried restarting & resetting. What is goin

I've gone through the trouble-shooting info and can't get the iPod to do anything but run this continual loop.  It won't even turn off properly.  What now?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • My ipod nano (4th Generation) will not turn on

I just got my ipod 3 months ago and its been working fine until today. The only reason I can think of is- ok my mistake- I was in my hot tub and I had my ipod on the IHOME (I believe that is what you call it)...... and I might just splash a little. The problem is that I put the IHOME up after I get out and I leave the Ipod on the IHOME. And I find the next day that it won't work. So now I'm freaking out so if there's anybody there.......HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
P.S. The port where you put the USB cord in the Ipod smells burnt

OK:Because I already had one water damaged, here is what I am going to do.Apple should be doing this because I think leaving the adapter port wide open is inviting water damage disaster(a bit of sweat, splash of water from the kitchen sink)
I ordered 2 oem travel chargers for .68/each.
I'm going to cut off the charging cable and use the adapter plug to protect that opening while using the nano.
    Anything is better than nothing.

  • My ipod nano 4th generation will not turn on, and is no longer detected by the computer and itunes. What to do?

    help me please !!

Sounds like a dead battery. Take it into your local Apple store/Genius bar and see if there is anything they can do for you.  Another option is to send it in to a third party repair company who can replace the battery at a pretty low cost.
