Ipod shuffle and mini, different pref., why?
my son has a shuffle and my wife has a mini, and I borrow them both to use at work, with the mini I can go though everybodys itunes (wife,2 sons and mine) and pick of the songs I want to put on, but with the shuffle you can't do that because it is linked to only 1 itunes at a time, ie I can only put songs on from my itunes or from my sons itunes but not both, the prefs. for the shuffle and the mini are different, doe's anybody know why?, and more importantly how can I get round this?. I was going to get my son a nano and keep the shuffle for myself as I find it easier to use at work, but not if I cant overcome this problem.
Chris
They are different, and you can't get around it.

I've just bought an album and downloaded it,went to sync it to my ipod shuffle and it doesn't appear in the album list to sync, yet it is in the music library? why is it not available to sync?
This sounds similar to the problem where new purchases will appear in playlists, but not the main music source, suggesting that iTunes is making a hash of the indexes. Somewhat bizarrely the solution for that one seems to be to download the current free Single of the Week, maybe it will help you too.

I have 2 ipod shuffles and one nano. One of the shuffles is registered on the main computer, the second on my laptop. the nano I just got. Can I download music from my main system even though my second is registered on the laptop, or does all my stuff have to be registered on my main system?
If those older shuffles work and have the songs on them...
For songs purchased from the iTunes Store, you can use iTunes to transfer from iPod to computer. The command (in the current version of iTunes) is at
iTunes Menu Bar -> File -> Devices -> Transfer Purchases from [name of iPod]
However, you may need to have your current computer authorized with the Apple ID (iTunes Store account) used to make the purchase. If you do not, the purchases from that Apple ID may not transfer.
There are third-party methods and utiltiies (not using iTunes) to transfer song files from iPod to computer. These should not care about Apple ID or that a particular song was purchased from iTunes Store or not. If you do a Google search on something like "ipod transfer," you should get some links.
Once the song files from the two older shuffles are transferred to your computer, you can add those songs to your iTunes library. Then, sync your 4th gen shuffle from the "consolidated" iTunes library. -
So, I bought the iPod shuffle and when I plug it into my mac, the option of syncing doesn't appear. What do I do?
Does the Shuffle appear ini Tunes at all? If not try using a different USB port and double checking to make sure the other end of the syncing cable is firmly seated in the Shuffle.

Ipod shuffle and podcasts appearing before normal songs
hi i have an ipod shuffle 1 gig and i have an odd problem..
i subscribe to some talk podcasts and i download streamlink mp3's of other talk programs and i have an odd problem when i add them to my shuffle.
when i have the order set as the mp3 that i downloaded to play first and the podcasts to play last.. for some reason, every time i try to play the podcasts somehow skip the # order i set when putting the files in.
I've tried the 5 r's once already i suppose i probly did something wrong and will try it again but does anyone have any ideas what i can do to fix this problem?
I have the latest itunes and i think i have the latest shuffle bios. I just can't figue out why it's doing this.. doesn't matter what podcast or mp3's are put in from my file list in itunes, thought that could help too.. thanks in advance.Hi, I already have a "normal" iPod that I sync my
entire iTunes library with. I would like to get an
iPod shuffle and use the auto fill from playlist
option to put songs on it. I'm just wondering if
this will interfere with my current iPod or does
iTunes play nice with two iPods connected?
IF you're using Windows, TWO iPods connected SIMULTANEOUSLY is a BAD idea. Otherwise a Shuffle will play nice with another iPod... -
Its a brand new 2 gb ipod shuffle and has never been connected to a computer before.
It would be interesting if it could "talk" to iTunes on a different host computer..if it couldn't it sounds like it would be some type of hardware problem, and would involve a warranty replacement of the new device.....wish I had a better answer...

Someother contacts and photostreams were uploaded to my iphone and mine were lost why does this happen to my apple id?
The "system" performed as designed. All devices syncing to one iCloud account are kept in common sync. The idea is that all such devices belong to one user. Different users should have different iCloud accounts. Once your contacts were edited, all devices were updated as well and subsequent backups (from yours and her device) reflected the changed contacts (and any other data that may have been edited like calendars). Your first task is to change your daughter over to a new account before she makes other changes.
The only way I see for getting back contacts is to restore them from a time machine backup, assuming you also have a Mac included in the account which syncs the contacts. However, I'm not sure whether time machine includes contacts from iCloud along with those that are local, "on my Mac".
Otherwise the deleted contacts are gone. -
I am trying to install a new iPod Shuffle and my pc does not pick it up.
My operating system is Windows 8.1 and windows 8 does not appear
in the list of operating systems. You are referring to OFFICE 2010, not Windows XP or 7.
And which version of Windows do you have?
NEVER begin before you have a backup, ideally one you have tested and know works.
You don't really install Boot Camp, the Assistant is a partition tool utility.
You may just want Office 2008 for Mac.
If you need Office for Windows, perhaps run Windows in a VM like Parallels or Fusion.
Buy some backup drives and start using TimeMachine for one backup, then weekly backup with SuperDuper.
IF there is now a partition for Windows, all you need is to buy Windows, and I would recommend Windows 7 Home Premium (retail) which is about US$149.
Has nothing to do with free space. Office 2010 isn't to boot from. In fact, you can copy the disc to a folder (1.25GB) and run SETUP from there. -
I bought a new 4th gen ipod shuffle and tried to sdet it up last night. I installed the latest itunes software and started to sync my ipod, but error boxes kept popping up saying ipod not found cannot sync. It was showing in itunes, then it would disappear, then it would come back. I am not very good with computers so I don't know what to do. Can someone help?
Do you have an iCloud backup? If you backed up your old phone to iCloud you can go to Settings>General>Reset>Erast All Content & Settings (which will erase your phone), then go back through the setup screens again and when prompted choose Restore From iCloud Backup. However your backup won't contain everything in your iTunes library (such as your music) so you'll need to be able to sync with your computer unless you purchased everything from iTunes and want to redownload it to your phone.

I just purchased an iPod Shuffle and attempted to use it on my Windows 7 Beta. iTunes installs and works just fine, but as soon as I hook my Shuffle up, it attempts to sync for roughly 3 minutes and then tells me something along the lines of "Cannot Recognize Disk".
Anyone have any ideas?Well, that's certainly understandable. However, once Windows 7 is actually out of Beta, this issue may continue to exist. I suppose it's a good thing that it's been discovered now while in Beta mode. I intend on notifying Microsoft about this as well.

HT1481 How do I get rid of my music on my ipod shuffle and re enter new songs?
How do I get rid of old songs on my ipod shuffle and re enter new songs??
This is document lists the four iPod shuffle models and the ways to sync music to the shuffle.
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1719
The way you remove songs depends on the model (1st and 2nd gen versus 3rd and 4th gen), and the method being used to add songs. I don't know your specifics (please provide), I'll go with one possibility...
You have a 4th (current) gen shuffle and you use the manual method to load the shuffle, by dragging songs to the shuffle from your iTunes library in iTunes (or using the Autofill feature). If that is your shuffle model and how you load it...
First, in the latest iTunes, the sidebar can be hidden. To show it, go up to the menu bar, under View, and select Show Sidebar.
To remove songs, select the shuffle in the sidebar, under DEVICES. "Drop down" its content list, which is indented below the iPod. Click on Music there. Over to the right, you see a list of songs currently on the shuffle. Select the song you want to remove, and hit the Delete key on keyboard. Confirm action. You can do this with one song, a selection of songs, or the entire list (by selecting Select All from the File menu).
If you have a 1st or 2nd gen shuffle, or you use automatic syncing (not manual loading or Autofill), please post back. -
Windows 7 detects problem with iPod shuffle and after troubleshooting say it can't fix and disconnects it. What's up?
You might get some help over on the shuffle discussions.

I have an Itunes account from my Ipod Shuffle and have music stored there, but I cannot find it to put on my new Iphone. How do I get to my stored music?
Welcome to the Apple Community.
The music on your shuffle will be in the iTunes library it syncs with. -
Syncing Ipod Shuffle and Ipod Touch.
I have both Ipod Shuffle and Ipod Touch. I only want certain songs on the Shuffle. How do I "weed out" the rest of the songs?
One at a time ... in other words NOT simultaneously.
