Ipod shuffle disconnects itself

My Ipod shuffle which I got about a year ago will not work in my computer. Every time I put it in it makes a connection sound and then a disconnection sound. it does this over and over again but not at any regular rate just at random. Itunes tells me to restore the ipod but every time we try that it doesn't work and it comes up "unknown error 1429" or "unknown error 1415" which says that the ipod is corrupted. My other ipod works fine with the computer and it is a nano. the shuffle used to be synced to a different computer when we connected it itunes tried to reset and resync it and this all started.

Hi-
I'm having the same problem, although the ipod shuffle is brand new and has only been used on my laptop. I've tried it on all three of my computer's USB ports but have the problem with each. I did once solve the problem temporariy by uninstalling and reinstalling itunes 7.7, but didn't work a second time.
Maybe my USB ports aren't powerful enough? Thoughts? My HP laptop is about 5 years old.
Sure is frustrating. Would love to add more songs from my itunes library.
Thanks.

  • IPod automatically disconnects itself within 5-10 seconds.

    Hi All,
I've been having some problems connecting my 5th Gen iPod to my new MackBook Pro. The iPod was synced to my old MacBook (I think it was the first black MacBook model) and worked perfectly fine. When I tried connecting it to my Pro for the first time everything went swell until about 500 songs in when the iPod suddenly disconnected (with the error message asking me to eject before disconnecting). I could no longer see it in iTunes and it returned to the state where it's not plugged in and not charging. I reconnected it and tried again and it happened a lot sooner. After trying multiple times, the time it takes for the iPod to automatically disconnect itself is about 5 to 10 seconds.
I've tried multiple cords and have connected the iPod to multiple computers, which leads me to believe that it's a problem with the iPod and not the computer or the cord. I've restarted the computers, restarted the iPod, attempted to restore the iPod (but it doesn't last long enough in the dock for it to work) and played around with the disk mode setting in iTunes. The only thing I have running when I attempt to connect is iTunes. Also, I was able to synced my iPhone to iTunes with no problem at all.
    Any suggestions? Thanks!

You get 90 days of free phone support after that there is a charge.
From your description your iPod may have developed a hardware problem and need to be fixed. If you bought it it August it is still under warranty so repair would be covered.
You could try some troubleshooting suggestions.
Go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset network settings to see if that helps.
Turn your iPod off and restart it (press on/off button for 5 seconds or so until power off indicator appears).
Reset your iPod (press on/off button and home button simultaneously for 10 seconds or so until the Apple logo appears).
If none of this helps you can try doing a restore on your iPod (make sure you have a backup). See iTunes to do this.
    Good luck.

  • Sync cord moves, iPod Shuffle Disconnects

Is anyone else having problems with syncing iPod shuffles?
Every time I move the Shuffle 4th Generation while it's syncing, iTunes thinks I disconnected the Shuffle.
Think it's a hardware problem with the cord or iPod Shuffle. Have synced an iPod Nano on the computer before. Checked both usb slots on computer.
Syncing works if the iPod absolutely doesn't move; don't really want to have to keep it still, though, considering I just bought the thing.
    Thanks!

Since this is a recent purchase, make sure the USB cable plug is fully inserted into the shuffle's headphones jack.  It should click into place.  The fit can be tighter than expected.
If that's not the problem, you should have it (or the USB cable) replaced under warranty.  If you have an Apple Store nearby, you can make a reservation at the store's Genius Bar.

  • TS1369 Hello! I have an Ipod Shuffle 2nd Generation and it is not recognized by my Windows 8 based laptop. An error message of 'USB device not recognized' is shown. I have the latest ITunes version installed, and tested the dock in other pc's.

    Hello!
I have a problem connecting my Ipod Shuffle 2nd generation to my Windows 8 based laptop. The computer doesn't recognize the Ipod and issues an error message saying 'USB device not recognized'. I tried uninstaling ITunes(latest version) and all other Apple software and reinstaling it back again, checked my USB hubs in the 'Device Manager' section of the Control Panel, you name it.
I could really use some help solving this.
I've turned to the troubleshooting section in Apple Support but it has nothing concerning situations in wich the device isn't even shown in the 'My Computer' folder.
Help a brother out, will you???

Found a solution in another forum http://en.kioskea.net/forum/affich-63733-ipod-not-detected-on-computer (a few posts down).
It was for an IPOD so you can see those details in the link.

  • My ipod shuffle is not charaging

My ipod shuffle is not charaging

    Hello Luhgar,
If your iPod shuffle will not charge when from the source you normally use I have a couple recommendations for you. Try plugging in the USB cord to a different USB port, or a different device. If using a poweroutlet try another. If the issue persists then reset the iPod shuffle and try again.
This article will show you how to reset the iPod:
    Resetting iPod shuffle
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1655
    To reset iPod shuffle:
Disconnect iPod shuffle from the computer (if connected).
Move the switch on the iPod shuffle to the OFF position. Note that when iPod shuffle is off, the green stripe by the switch is not visible.
    1st generation
    2nd generation
    3rd generation
    4th generation
Wait five seconds. For iPod shuffle (3rd and 4th generation), wait ten seconds.
Move the switch to the play in order or the shuffle position. The green stripe will be visible in either position. For iPod shuffle (2nd and 4th generation), slide the power switch on (and you can see the green stripe).
iPod shuffle is now reset. If you were resetting as part of some troubleshooting steps, continue with those steps now. For general troubleshooting steps see the iPod shuffle troubleshooting and service FAQ.

  • IPod Shuffle 4th, the restore fails

    Dear Apple communities,
I don't know if I am unlucky or not, but this is the second iPod shuffle which suddenly stops to work.
In this case, during a jogging session, it stop to work. But the strange “error” came when I connect it to my fresh and new iTunes installation.
It happens that iTunes propose me this:
I confirm and I start with the restore:
iTunes "restores" my iPod, but at the end of the restart I go back to the first step again and nothing is changed. I am in a loop, as I documented in this video:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aV9aKcVvU5M&feature=youtu.be
Do you have any idea? I tried several hints I found by Google without success....
    Thanks in advance

    Hello Mr. Fabio,
I would recommend resetting your iPod shuffle while it is connected to the computer with the USB cord.

  • My ipod nano disconnects automatically!!!

My ipod nano disconnects itself from my computer automatically then when it re-appears on my itunes it has reset itself?!? HELP!!

i've had the exact same problem with my ipod nano on and off for the last few months! i just keep restoring it and putting everything back on whenever it happens, but i'm getting pretty fed up and am thinking of trying to get it replaced. if your nano's still disconnecting unexpectedly, make sure you back everything up (if you aren't already). i've also found that having duplicates of all your playlists in itunes really saves time when you're putting all the music back after the nano resets itself, because you can just click and drag the playlist onto the ipod, and then all the music is there in the order you want. apart from that, if you're thinking of getting it replaced, make sure you send it in within 180 days of buying it or else major shipping and handling fees kick in!
    good luck!

  • IPod Shuffle spontaneously disconnects from iTunes

When I connect my iPod Shuffle to my MacBook Pro, iTunes launches, begins to sync files and charge the iPod. Moments later, an alert message will appear in iTunes erroneously saying that the iPod has been removed before being properly ejected. I have no similar problems with my iPod classic nor any other USB device. The iPod Shuffle otherwise functions properly. Any advice?

It could be a problem with the USB port, the USB cable, or the shuffle itself.
For the USB port, it seems to be working because it works with your other iPod.  However, if you have other USB devices connected at the same time (such as your other iPod), I would shut down (power off) the Mac and disconnect all USB devices including hub.  Do this to Reset the shuffle
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1655
(also, if you can note which shuffle model you have and include that info if you need to post back.)
Start up the Mac, run iTunes, and connect the shuffle to a direct USB port on the Mac  This is to test if there might be a power-related issue or USB conflict between devices.
To rule out faulty USB cable as the cause, if possible, try a different USB cable, or try the one you have with another shuffle.
Does the shuffles stay connected long enough for you to go to its Summary screen in iTunes, to make setting changes?

  • Ipod disconnects itself

hi guys, my i-pod mini 'disconnects' itself from the PC. i plug it in the USB, it says 'Do Not Disconnect' as expected, then after a few moments, it sort of disconnects itself - the PC can't see the i-pod anymore and the i-pod is already displaying the main menu...
how does one solve this? i read about reformatting the i-pod, but i think the i-pod has to stay connected to the PC if i'll run the software update, is this correct? so that's not an option for me i think...
    thank you in advance!

  • ITunes 11 freezing while transfering music, and can't eject it, so I need to disconnect the cable, then iTunes works just fine and my iPod Shuffle is in restoring mode. I've been having this issue for weeks, and never had it before with iTunes 10.

iTunes 11 freezes and can't eject my iPod, so I need to disconnect the cable, then iTunes works just fine and my iPod Shuffle is in restoring mode. I've been having this issue for weeks, and never had it before with iTunes 10. Please tell me at least a way to eject it without losing all my data and being forced to format/restore the iPod.    I've got 2GB iPod Shuffle 2nd generation(:D)

As a test, shut down (power off) your computer and disconnect all USB devices including hub (except for standard keyboard and mouse if normally used).  If your computer is a laptop, connect its power adapter (so that it's not running on battery power).  Do this to reset the shuffle
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1655
Start up the computer, run iTunes, and connect the shuffle to a direct USB port on the computer.  Does this problem recur when the shuffle is the only USB device?
If it does (as another test), select the shuffle in iTunes, so that its Settings screen is showing.  Check the box for Enable disk use, and Apply.  Does that make any difference regarding this problem?

  • IPod Classic immediately disconnects itself

I have owned my iPod for not even a year, and I have not done anything to it to cause disruption or error or anything of the sort. Yet when I plug it into my Macbook to sync (or any other iMac or Macbook, checked with multiple cords as well), it will immediately disconnect itself. It is not recognised by my computer, iTunes does not automatically open, it does not charge and I am unable to even reset it to factory settings as I can't access it at all. I am rather frustrated that this is happening to a new device. Any help would be appreciated.
