IPod shuffle does not play files 100 MB
Could anyone help me out with the following issue please:
After uploading a large mp3 file (>100MB) onto my iPod shuffle (2nd generation, 1GB) - uploading does not give any error messages - the song just does not play when I disconnect my iPod and hit the play button. It automatically continues to the next file in my playlist which is smaller than 100 MB. I reconnected the iPod to my computer and iTunes, and the file is still in the iPod playlist and can be played in iTunes without any problems.
If I upload a file with a size just smaller than 100 MB (I tried 95 MB) I do not experience the problem mentioned above, it will just play the file normally.
Is this a limitation of the iPod shuffle or is something wrong with my iPod shuffle?
Thanks for your help!
Erwin
It's probably no consolation, but I routinely play audiobooks >100MB on my 2nd Gen shuffle.

My 4G Ipod shuffle does not play songs in the correct order? Already restored to factory settings and no success.. Can anybody help me?
I FINALLY GOT IT! after months of relentless synching/autofilling problems on my 4th generation i figured out the solution.
this is what i did: plugged in ipod on off mode~>manually deleting my ipod's songs~>restored factory settings~>unchecked automatic synch~>made a new playlist with exactly the songs & order i wanted for my ipod (just dragged old playlists into the new one)~>then autofilled that new playlist into my ipod. came out like a charm! (before u autofill UNCHECK random add songs)
my ipod always ended up autofilling/synching my customized playlists wrong or it would automatically do my music library (and that was way unorganized), so this worked. -
2Gen iPod Shuffle Does Not Play .m4a Songs
My 2Gen iPod Shuffle 1GB only plays songs that I purchased from iTunes (.m4p) and will not play any songs that I ripped to iTunes (.m4a). According to iTunes, I successfully transferred 80 songs on to my Shuffle. Under the Settings tab, it shows that all the songs are loaded and I have plenty of capacity available. Under the Content tab, all my songs are listed. I have the latest software version and have reset twice with no success. My iPod Classic plays the songs fine. I appreciate any help or suggestions.
Ian - thanks for your input. My bit rate was well under the limit. This is what I've found out so far. The songs that my iPod Shuffle do not play are the (.wma) songs I converted to (.m4a) using EasyWMA. The converted songs work fine on my MacBook iTunes and iPod Classic, but not the iPod Shuffle. I contacted EasyWMA and it was suggested that I convert the selected songs to either (.mp3) or AIFF. As an experiment, I converted some (.wma) songs to AIFF using EasyWMA and had iTunes convert the AIFF files to (.m4a). Interestingly - it worked. I have no idea why the Shuffle did not recognize the EasyWMA (.m4a) direct converted songs (especially since the iPod Classic and iTunes had not problem playing them) - but apparently the iTunes conversion does something that the Shuffle software requires. Still a mystery, but at least I now have a much wider assortment of music on my Shuffle than I started out with.
Thanks again - George -
IPod Shuffle does not play podcasts in set order
I see others have been having this trouble and have tried the recommendations but they are not working.
I have tried to set the play order of podcasts and am only successful when I sort them by time. If I download a number of podcasts on the same day (someone said that they play by download date) I cannot set the play order. Someone said to drag the podcast to the desired order and that does not work with podcasts. It might with albums but not with podcasts.
In addition, someone said to drag each podcast to the iPod in the order you want each one played. That does not work, either. Finally, if I do settle for the order displayed in the iPod play list and I haven't sorted by time, the Shuffle will not play them in the order played in iTunes.
I have Shuffle set in iTunes to repeat all play; not shuffle. I don't use autofill. I'm sure I'm setting the button on the back of the Shuffle to play in order. Is there something I'm overlooking?
I'm running the latest of both iTunes and iPod Shuffle on Windows XP Pro. I just re-loaded this software on a new computer and had the same problem with XP Pro on the old computer.
Am I asking too much from iTunes? I don't use it for music. Do I actually need a more sophisticated program other then iTunes if I use Shuffle only for podcasts? That is in fact how podacsts work in the iTunes/iPod system. The only sorting is based on release date (time) which is set and sortable only in iTunes. You aren't missing anything, and nothing you do subsequently will affect that order; podcasts are and are treated differently.

IPod shuffle does not play all the songs on it
I have removed all songs and restored the device. Added songs again and it still does not play all the songs it says it has one it. I am well under the limit for the device. Any suggestions?
Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Unsync/delete all music and resync
To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Music
- Reset all settings, The delete all is only applicable for 4G and later
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device. -
First time using iPod. And first time using an MP3 player.
I installed iTunes and iPod software that comes with in the install CD. I could put songs on iTunes library. When I connected iPod, my ipod menu appears in iTunes and the files in the library get transferred to the shuffle.
I ejected my iPod from iTunes, and then disconnect the iPod from the PC.
Then, push the play button, but nothing happens. The battery check shows the green light.
Is this a common problem in iPod?
Many thanks.
So far, it is nothing but a frustration of using iPod.Okay, so it was turned on.
The green light above the click wheel is the status light, not the battery check light. In normal operations, the green status light will come on for a few seconds when you turn the iPS on and then press Play (or anything else, really).
If the light stays on, and you get no sound out, that is a fault indication. Go to the iPod Shuffle Support Page and follow the troubleshooting steps entitled something like " Green light always on, no music ....".
As for the rest of your information, seeing it tagged to Drive D: has no real meaning to me. That said, what you must ensure is that D: is the correct one, i.e, that it was the next sequential drive ID to be assigned. Windoze can get lost in doing that, call it something farther down the line, and subsequently lose it when it comes to loading tracks (resulting in the typical alternating amber/green display). -
Ipod shuffle does not play the music
Could anyone help me.. I have syncronised the musics in my Ipod shuffle but it will not play them!!!!!
Thanks indvanceIf an iPod is set to automatically sync from a particular iTunes library, when you connect it to that iTunes library, every song on the iPod exists in the iTunes library. Therefore, if you want to play a song on the iPod using iTunes on the computer, you can just play that song from the computer's iTunes library, and not the iPod.
If an iPod is set to load songs manually (by dragging songs to the iPod in iTunes), then the iPod is NOT syncing to a particular iTunes library. The library on the iPod is separate; songs on the iPod may not be in the computer's iTunes library. Therefore, you can play songs stored on the iPod using iTunes on computer.
If your shuffle happens to be 1st or 2nd gen, they work differently from other iPods. They are always associated with only one iTunes library at a time, so you cannot play songs on the shuffle using iTunes on the computer.
I was wondering how I could transfer music from my iPod to my library
You cannot transfer song files from iPod to computer using iTunes (except for songs purchased from the iTunes Store). However, there are third-party methods and utilities that can transfer song files from iPod to computer. If you do a Google search on something like "ipod transfer," you should get some links. -
Very frustrating. In previous versions of the shuffle I was able to select to listen to all podcasts in a row automatically. Now I can't seem to figure it out, I tried creating a playlist as I do with music, however the shuffle is smart and figures they are podcasts so just enters them in as such. Then I go to play them and it separates them into different playlists depending on the podcasts.
Engineers: it wasn't broken to begin with so stop playing around with features and just create something usable... maybe it's too much to expect from Apple with Steve Jobs gone. A waste of $50 if you can't help me figure it out.whether or not the genre has been "rebranded" to music
FYI - The way to "rebrand" an item to reclassify it as a different type of iTunes media is NOT with the Genre setting. Instead, select the item in iTunes and do a Get Info. In the Info window, go to the Options tab. Change Media Kind to Music, Podcast, Audiobook, etc. Changing the Genre setting does nothing to change how iTunes categorizes the item.
I loaded a couple Music playlists to see what would happen.
Playlists are playlists... There in no distinction between a "Music" playlist and a "Podcast" playlist. It's up to you do load them as desired.
If I actually wanted those music playlists to function as such, though, I'd be out of luck.
I don't understand. Just load a playlist that only has podcasts on it (your "Podcast playlist"), AND one or more other playlists that only have music. Then VoiceOver will read then off separately, and you can choose the one you want to hear. If you take a look at the artcle I linked previously
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4322
where is says Changing playlists and To choose an item from the playlist menu, your description basically matches what it says there. So, glad to hear your shuffle is working as designed... -
I just bought a song and my ipod shuffle will not play it.. how do i get my money back from the song??, I just bought a song and my ipod shuffle will not play it.. how do i get my money back from the song??
Assuming you bought the song at the iTunes Store, you can go here
http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/
and follow one of the "paths" to get what you need or to an Apple customer support employee. One path is to click Contact Support at the bottom of the list of choices, and use the Express Lane.
The iTunes app also has a way to report a problem with a purchase. Select iTunes Store in the sidebar (of the iTunes window). Toward the upper right corner, click on your Apple ID. This gets you to your Account Information screen. Find Purchase History and click See All. On that screen, you can select a specific purchase with that problem, and Report a Problem.
If you want to try to figure out WHY that song does not play on your iPod shuffle, please post back... -

TS1363 1st generation iPod shuffle does not show up in iTunes (windows 7)?
1st generation iPod shuffle does not show up in iTunes on my Windows 7 PC (but shows up in my computer). Tried all the Apple trouble-shooting steps (some several times). It used to work with Windows 7 on this PC. Are there other steps I can try?
I'm not sure what "all" means, unless you state them, so if you have not done so already, you should use this procedure to reset the iPod shuffle
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1655
Then, shut down your computer (power off) and start it up, with iPod shuffle NOT connected. Run iTunes. Then, try connecting the iPod shuffle again.
Since this is a first gen iPod shuffle that IS recognized by the computer (so it's probably not a bad USB connector), you can also try using the iPod Reset Utility
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1238
This is for the first and second gen iPod shuffle only, and does a lower level reset than using a normal Restore in iTunes. -
I bought a macbook pro on november 2011 wich had Lion OS installed on it. Playback plug-in in Mainstage 2.1.3 does not play files from the beginning (it leaves out like 50 mSecs or so). Is there a way to revert to Snow Leopard OS?

...Is there any way I can install a partition that runs snow leopard on my early 2011 MB pro with what I have (new SSD, New RAM, Current version Lion running, no external drive, lack of original snow leopard disks [I lost them ] and the general 10.6.3 snow leopard boot disks)...
As the last post suggests, call Apple and order a replacement original disc for about $17. They will ask you the model and serial numbers.
Your retail version of Snow Leopard OS 10.6.3 will not work on that Mac as it requires a minimum of OS X 10.6.7 to boot and operate.
Another alternative is to again borrow another Mac to install your retail Snow Leopard into an external HD or partition, upgrade it to 10.6.8 and then clone it back to a partition on your MBP. -
