IPod shuffle driver and new iPod

2 questions.
Question 1-I have a software update that keeps "unexpectedly quitting" when I try to download it. The iPod driver is version 3.1.
I use iTunes 6.0.5.and cannot update it any more, as I am on Mac OS 10.2.8.
Any suggestions?
Question 2- My son won an iPod Shuffle! This is great but I do not know if it will work with my machine, especially if it is new and is second generation. (we haven't gotten it yet.) Will an iPod shuffle 1st or second generation work with my system, and any tips.
Thanks!

1st Gen shuffle works in 10.2.8 and iTunes 6.0.5, 2nd Gen requires iTunes 7.x...

I have had to replace my hard drive. I now have some songs on my new computer hard drive and some songs on my Ipod. How do I make sure that both the Ipod songs and the Itunes songs are imported to both and they match each other.

  • IPod touch battery and new ipod touch repairing decision

    Hi,
I have an iPod touch 4th generation(8gb)that I have had for about 2 years. A few months ago I noticed something wrong with it. Whenever I kept the battery fully charged it decided to shut off by it's self even when it acted fully charged. Now I'm trying to decided if I can actually get a professional to repair the battery for it or if it's best to get a new iPod touch. Otherwise I don't know what else I can do. My warranty expired so I'm thinking getting a new battery will not be free either way. I don't think there's water damage unless if there is I don't know where to look on the iPod. Need help to figure out what I should do about the battery because the buttons and screen is fine I think it's just the battery that is the problem. Although I did hear about the next ios7 or something, but I wouldn't think that would have anything to do with this. I've asked a worker in an iPhone repair shop place about this problem and they agreed it has to do with the battery. No matter how many times I have kept it charged fully or started charging it won't stay on unless it stays charging.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem. If onoly a battery than battery replacement is an option. Apple might tell yo what is wrong so you can them make an informed decision.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for $199 for 64 GB 4G and $99 for the other 4Gs. If only the battery  is bad then the exchange price is $79. They do not fix yours.

A third-party place like the following maybe less. It is s less for replacing he batteryGoogle for more.

  • I would like to add music from my Ipod shuffle to my new computer but my old computer is broken and cannot access it anymore

I would like to sync my ipod shuffle to my new laptop, however I do not have access to my old computer so I do not have access to the old itunes library. My ipod is charged music on it and I have it plugged into the usb cord which is plugged into my computer's usb port. I downloaded the latest version of itunes but do I have to register first? can anyone help me?

You cannot transfer song files from iPod to computer using iTunes, except for songs purchased from the iTunes Store (and you can also re-download previous purchases from the iTunes Store Purchased screen).
However, there are third-party methods and utilities that can be used to transfer song files from iPod to computer.  If you do a search on something like "ipod transfer," you should get some links.
Once the song files are on your new computer's hard drive, drag them (or the folder containing the files) to the iTunes window, to add them to the iTunes library.

  • HT4759 How do I set up icloud for my ipod shuffle on my new computer windows 8. I downloaded the icloud but it tells me that i don't have the icloud and I cannot add songs to my ipod.

How do I set up icloud for my ipod shuffle on my new computer windows 8. I downloaded the icloud but it tells me that i don't have the icloud and I cannot add songs to my ipod.

An iPod Shuffle can't use iCloud.  It can only be used on an iOS device (iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch) running iOS 5 or higher, or on a supported Mac or PC.
Also you can't create and iCloud acount on your PC (or your iPod Shuffle).  You have to create your account on an iOS device (iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch) running iOS 5 or higher, or on a Mac running OS X Lion (10.7.2) or higher.  After creating the account on one of these devices you can sign into it on your PC.  But this still won't allow you to add songs to your iPod Shuffle as it doesn't support iCloud.

  • I upgraded my hard drive and my ipod no longer recognizes my computer.  It will not sync. What should I do?

I upgraded my hard drive and my ipod no longer recognizes my computer.  It will not sync. What should I do?

    - First get iTunes to see the iPod:
iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
    - The transfer iTunes purchases to the computer:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
    - For non-iTunes purchased music you need a third-party program like one of those discussed here:
Copy music from Ipod to new computer...: Apple Support Communities
    - Connect the iPOd to the computer and make a backup by right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up
    - Restore the iPod from that backup.

  • How do I transfer music from an old ipod shuffle to a new one?

How do I transfer music from my old not working ipod shuffle to a new one?

If the music on this nonworking Shuffle is not in your iTunes library or in a backup somewhere, I'm afraid you are out of luck. You'll need to redownload any past purchases you had on there via iCloud. It shouldn't cost you anything.  See here for more details.
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
For all other non-iTunes purchases content, you'll need to redownload/re-rip it to iTunes again from its original source such as another MP3 store or from CD.
If the music that was on the older Shuffle is still in your iTunes library, simply configure it to sync to the new Shuffle.

  • HT2688 my daughter wants to move some of her music she bought on itunes for her shuffle to her new ipod touch.  how do i get this done?

my daughter wants to move some of her music she bought on itunes for her shuffle to her new ipod touch.  how do i get this going?

The music should still be in her iTunes Library - the one she uses to put music on the Shuffle. Simply connect the new iPod to that iTunes library, make the choices she wants for syncing the music to the iPod (which I guess, may now include putting all her music onto the iPod, since it has more storage capacity) and press Sync.
Future Syncs with that Library will cause any changes of the Library to be copied to the iPod. Note that music is (or should be) copied to the iPod, not moved. There are two reasons for having the music in the Library:
    makes it easier to put the music onto a newer iPod, such as now;
if or when the iPod needs a Restore, which will delete everything from the iPod, you will need to copy "the Library" back onto the same iPod.

  • HT201269 how can I upload songs from my iPod shuffle to a new laptop with iTunes?

Previous desktop crashed & replaced with a new laptop, so unable to backup my iPod shuffle to iTunes.  When I try to sync the iPod to the new iTunes library, it wants to erase the iPod completely and load the songs from the iTunes library on the new laptop.  How can I transfer songs from iPod shuffl into the new iTunes library without losing everything?

The sync is one way - computer to ipod.  The exception is itunes purchases - File>Devices>Transfer Purchases
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for this very occasion.  Use your backup copy to put everything back

    Yes
Put all the music on one computer, make sure it is authorized for all accounts, sync.

I have just bought an ipod classic, I already have an ipod nano.  The new ipod was connected to the computer to charge and it named itself with my name on the old nano, how do I get the computer to recognise the new one?

My mistake, it was nothing to do with format.  It woldn't sync because my movies were HD.  HD movies won't sync to an iopd classic 160 GB but when you purchase a HD movie, itunes gives you a SD vervsion of the movie which is compatible with the ipod.  Just needed to go to store, click movies, click purchased and untick the HD box and there you have the SD versions.  Download the SD versions and then sync your ipod and bobs you uncle, movies are on the ipod

  • Is there anyway the latest firmware could have enabled my restriction passcode as I have never enabled it myself this has happened to my ipad2  and new iPod 4 g

Is there anyway the latest firmware could have enabled my restriction  pass code this has happened to my ipad2 and new iPod 4g,I have not set these codes but I ALLWAYS use the same 4digit numbers  and when I enter these I tells me I have made 4 attempts, what is the correct way to resolve this, does it mean a reset or restore, wonder if this has been a problem with other users as I mentioned I have never set these codes because I have no need to as I am the only user on my iPad and iPod.

I have seen other users report this very same issue after an update. Unfortunately, if you don't have the passcode to unlock restrictions, you have to restore the device as new in order to gain access again. If you restore from a backup - the passcode will still be in that backup and you will end up right where you started.
But in your case, you were not using a passcode, so I am hoping that you have a backup that predates the backup from when you updated the device. If you have multiple backups, you can restore from an older backup that should not contain that passcode and then you should be OK.
Do you backup with iTunes? If you do - go to Edit>Preferences>Devices and see if there is any older backup in that window - other than the one from when you updated the iPad iOS.
Have you restarted or reset the iPad since you updated? It's worth a shot to try. I don't think it will change this situation, but they are both easy and harmless to do.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
