Ipod Shuffle FM transmitter with Zen Mic

Would a fm transmitter for the ipod shuffle transmit fm and charge the zen micro? I know it would charge the zen micro, but I'm not sure if the micro outputs audio through the usb jack? Below is one of the transmitters that I've found, and wonder if it works?

Just looking for a good FM tuner, and if it will charge the micro at the same time that'd be great. I have the belkin tunecast II and it doesn't work well at all in my girlfriend's Ford Escape, so I'm trying to find something better.

I did check the site; it's not clear how it connects to the iPod shuffle, but from seeing speakers made for it, I'm sure it connects both thru USB for charging and to a "Walkman jack" for sound. (The iPod shuffle does not have a dock connector.) It should work with the following caveats:
You'll need a USB cable for the power connection (extra), plus an audio cable (probably comes with it).

You should upgrade to the latest firmware (..0 or 2.20.05) for "locked charging" capability, a must for any third-party charger.

Before connecting, set the power switch to "locked"; you can unlock it once the "breathing glow" has begun.

• Is iPod shuffle is compatible with small or table speakers or external speakers?

Is iPod shuffle is compatible with external speakers?

Yes, you can connect POWERED external speakers like you connect your headphones. The speaker system does need to be self-powered (has its own power supply), like the type made for connecting to your computer's audio output. And not the type of speakers that connect to a living room stereo system.
NOTE: Unlike other "big" iPods (and the 1st gen shuffle), you cannot charge the (2nd-4th gen) shuffle's battery and play the shuffle at the same time.

• Anyone with a new iPod Shuffle that works with Powerbook G4 OSX 10.3.9 ???

I just bought the new iPod Shuffle also and my Mac OSX 10.3.9 operating system is not recognizing the iPod. This is a big issue since they are supposed to be compatible.
I called AppleCare 2 times and spent 1hr+ at the Apple Store Genious Bar. Here's the deal ... basically the new iPod Shuffle is NOT compatible with 10.3.9 ... I would guess you are having the same issue. My iPod Shuffle works fine with Tiger OS. The Genious Bar tested my computer with Tiger OS to make sure it wasn't a hardware issue and the iPod Shuffle worked fine ... but not with 10.3.9. This is definately an operating system compatibility issue.
Let me know if anyone has the same issue or better yet ... if you iPod works with Powerbook G4 OSX 10.3.9.

I too purchased a new Shuffle and could not get it to work with any software on my PowerBook G4 running the latest Panther (10.3.9). (Only the Disk Utility could see the Shuffle.) I also tried it on my PowerMac G5 running the latest Panther Server, and my PowerMac G4 running the latest Tiger. Given that multiple hardware AND OS configurations were failing, I had to conclude that it was some errant software I had installed on all 3 machines. (As an additional indicator, NONE of my machines would play DVDs anymore: inserting a DVD produced the dreaded "You have inserted a disk containing no volumes that Mac OS X can read.")
The culprit turned out to be the kernel extensions installed by my (older) Lexar Secure jump drive. These files are in directory /System/Library/Extensions.
IOLexarEncryptFilter.kext
IOSCSILexarCommandsDevice.kext
LexarFilterScheme.kext
I do not know if it is just one of them or all 3, but I moved all of these files out of the Extensions directory and rebooted. Presto: the DVDs play and the new Shuffle can be seen by iTunes, etc.
Note that I do not necessarily recommend messing about in the the kernel extensions directory. If anyone has a better method for removing these extensions (I couldn't find anything on the Lexar support site), then I would be grateful for your input.

• Ipod Shuffle (2nd gen) with FM Car Transmitter

I know that there are several discussions about this but need a bit of help!
We have a car FM Transmitter plugged in to the cigarette lighter socket which will quite happily accept the Ipod shuffle and play through the car stereo until we accelerate the car. We then get the flashing green light on the Ipod indicating an error. Any thoughts?

Could be the ipod's getting too much/little power when you accelerate? Strange error though.

• IPod Shuffle 2nd gen with Error (-50)

My wife and I each have an 2nd gen ipod shuffle. I cannot add songs onto either one, it give me an error message. I have updated iTunes and checked for updates for my ipod. It says that it is syncing with the computer and my ipod shows up on itunes. I was able to delete a song from my ipod, but I cannot add one. My kids' have newer models and they all work just fine. I tried plugging the cord into different usb ports, didn't help. I was worried that if I restored my ipod, I may not get any songs back onto it. Any suggestions.

Could be the ipod's getting too much/little power when you accelerate? Strange error though.

• 2nd gen ipod shuffle will charge with one computer (vista) but not the other computer (windows 8). Please help!

My 2nd gen ipod shuffle will charge on my old vitsta computer but not my new windows 8 computer. Does anyone know why that might be? The new computer recognizes the ipod and I can see everything on it, change settings, etc. it just won't charge. Is there a reason as to why this should be happening?

Just bought a refurbished 2nd generation ipod
shuffle. I am running the very latest version of OS X
and iTunes on an iBook G3 600 mhz with the slower USB
ports, not 2.0 ports. The ipod mounts and is
regognized by itunes, but I cannot seem to register
the ipod from itunes, it always has an error message
when I submit to register (all forms are filled out
correctly). The registration window in iTunes shows
that this ipod is formatted for Windows (from the
previous owner I assume) and may be causing my
problems?
No. ALL shuffles are FAT32 format.
The other problem is that it will not sync and
transfer any music from itunes library. I am trying
to transfer simple mp3 files that should be compliant
with the ipod specs. No luck even after multiple
restarts on the ipod. Any help would be appreciated!
Thank you.

• Can't get ipod shuffle to synch with pc

Hi I am a new user and very virginal when it comes to technical stuff!!!! I have attached my iPod shuffle using the usb to the laptop but i keep getting a message that says i need to either load the cd or download ipod download updater from the apple website. I have done this but to no avail. My ipod will not synch with my pc. any clues on how to get started. Not only am i virginal but i am now frustrated!!!! Please help!!!!!

After you downloaded the itunes program, have you open up itunes by double clicking on the shortcut on your desktop? If you have, has the program opened up. Althought you have downloaded the program, it may not yet be installed in your computer, and you have to go thru that process to actually have it work on your computer. If you have gone thru this process, what happenens when you have opened up itunes, and then you connect you ipod?

• Can a 2G ipod shuffle be connected with a 3G ipod shuffle cable?

I've misplaced my 2G ipod shuffle cable. Can I connect and charge my 2G shuffle with a 3G ipod shuffle cable? I've tried and nothing happens, so I'm not sure if 2G shuffle is dead or I need the correct cable.
Any suggestions?

Are you saying that it won't work? The battery in my iPod may be bad. I don't want to buy a new cable if my iPod battery is shot.
To be clear: You can NOT use a 3rd Gen shuffle cable with a 2nd Gen shuffle.

• I just bought the latest ipod shuffle to use with another older one. But when I tried to download updates and charge the new shuffle it is nowhere to be found. The new download is not recognized

I just bought the latest ipod shuffle and want to put my library songs on it. Why when I tried to install the latest version of i-tunes nothing happened. My new pod is connected to my laptop USB 2.0 port but it is nowhere to be found. Why is this new shuffle pod not recognized?

You downloaded iTunes AND installed it, right? What you downloaded is the installer, which installs the iTunes app (and other things like drivers) on your computer. You then have to run the iTunes app.
If you did that already, make sure the USB docking cable's plug is completely inserted into the shuffle's headphones jack, as shown in this document
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3572
When connected, the shuffle's light should come ON. That indicates it is getting power. If it blinks orange (at least initially), that indicates it is connecting for data.
If you are good so far, in iTunes, the sidebar (along left side of window) may be hidden. If it is, from the menu bar, under View, select Show Sidebar. When the shuffle is connected, it should be listed in the sidebar, below DEVICES. Does it appear there?

Have you got your local machine's hostname in your hosts file?
I remember I used to have problems like this, until I found the little gem in the wiki about adding the output of 'hostname' to /etc/hosts
I can't find the actual article at the moment, only this:

The beginners guide mentions about poor performance in regard to not setting /etc/hosts correctly:
