Ipod Shuffle in endless Restore Cycle

History:
-I bought a 2nd generation Ipod shuffle a week ago and hooked it to my Windows-based system
-Was prompted to, and downloaded latest version of Itunes
-Started loading music onto Shuffle
-After 100 songs or so, got an "Ipod Corrupted" message and downloads stopped
-When I connect Ipod and get the device recognized, I am prompted to Restore Ipod to original factory settings and download latest version of Shuffle software
-When I hit button to proceed, Itunes goes into an endless Restore cycle which doesn't actually restore the Ipod (the longest I have left it on is 12 hours and no dice)
-The Ipod is functional when disconnected and has the songs I loaded but I want it restored to full functionality
Any advice? Anyone have the same problem? This tiny device is taking up far far too much of my time.
Thanks.

I had the same problem. My iPod shuffle would just continuously blink orange and would not sync up to my iTunes library. Talked with Apple support and here's what worked for me...
Under My Computer right click on your iPod name.
Hit format (I'm pretty sure you'll lose all your music and will have to wait for it to re-sync.)
After that it just started working.
Worth a shot if you've tried everything else.

  • ITunes 11 freezing while transfering music, and can't eject it, so I need to disconnect the cable, then iTunes works just fine and my iPod Shuffle is in restoring mode. I've been having this issue for weeks, and never had it before with iTunes 10.

iTunes 11 freezes and can't eject my iPod, so I need to disconnect the cable, then iTunes works just fine and my iPod Shuffle is in restoring mode. I've been having this issue for weeks, and never had it before with iTunes 10. Please tell me at least a way to eject it without losing all my data and being forced to format/restore the iPod.    I've got 2GB iPod Shuffle 2nd generation(:D)

As a test, shut down (power off) your computer and disconnect all USB devices including hub (except for standard keyboard and mouse if normally used).  If your computer is a laptop, connect its power adapter (so that it's not running on battery power).  Do this to reset the shuffle
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1655
Start up the computer, run iTunes, and connect the shuffle to a direct USB port on the computer.  Does this problem recur when the shuffle is the only USB device?
If it does (as another test), select the shuffle in iTunes, so that its Settings screen is showing.  Check the box for Enable disk use, and Apply.  Does that make any difference regarding this problem?

  • IPod Shuffle 4th, the restore fails

    Dear Apple communities,
I don't know if I am unlucky or not, but this is the second iPod shuffle which suddenly stops to work.
In this case, during a jogging session, it stop to work. But the strange “error” came when I connect it to my fresh and new iTunes installation.
It happens that iTunes propose me this:
I confirm and I start with the restore:
iTunes "restores" my iPod, but at the end of the restart I go back to the first step again and nothing is changed. I am in a loop, as I documented in this video:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aV9aKcVvU5M&feature=youtu.be
Do you have any idea? I tried several hints I found by Google without success....
    Thanks in advance
    Fabio

    Hello Mr. Fabio,
I would recommend resetting your iPod shuffle while it is connected to the computer with the USB cord.
    To reset iPod shuffle:
Disconnect iPod shuffle from the computer (if connected).
Move the switch on the iPod shuffle to the OFF position. Note that when iPod shuffle is off, the green stripe by the switch is not visible.
    1st generation
    2nd generation
    3rd generation
    4th generation
Wait five seconds. For iPod shuffle (3rd and 4th generation), wait ten seconds.
Move the switch to the play in order or the shuffle position. The green stripe will be visible in either position. For iPod shuffle (2nd and 4th generation), slide the power switch on (and you can see the green stripe).
iPod shuffle is now reset. If you were resetting as part of some troubleshooting steps, continue with those steps now. For general troubleshooting steps see the iPod shuffle troubleshooting and service FAQ.

  • ERROR: iPod shuffle must be restored

    Hi
Just got my shuffle yesterday and I have perform the restore twice to 1.0.1. I dont mind the restore but hated to end up high and dry with the cool clip displaying the green and orange light without playing any songs.
Any idea how can I prevent this from happening? Or is it just my luck with a unstable shuffle.

    Pgrafix,
Another user has suggested this resolution for flashing green and amber:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=723939&tstart=0
The iPod Shuffle (Second Generation) may also flash Green and Amber if there are no songs on it. Sometimes when Windows confuses drive that can happen. This article has more information:

  • Wash iPod Shuffle on a warm cycle, do not bleach!

I thought you might like to know that my iPod Shuffle ended up in the laundry and went through a full washing cycle at 40C - it still works fine! While putting my iPod Shuffle into the washing machine doesn't seem to have done it any harm I wouldn't recommed doing so - even if it does smell better than ever!

that should be possible since it's a flash player and they have no headers to scratch the non-existant disk and they have no screen. i think 40* centigrade is within storage temps all that would happen is maybe a damaged case or a few scratches a loose button maybe. and not turn it on when wet kept it safe and they dry cycle was equal to a few days of being left out in a dry place. my shuffle has had it's fair share of fluids in it (mostly water and tea) and i just left alone for a day and it turned out fine.

  • IPod shuffle - 1418 on restore

We are no longer gathering logs from iPod shuffle users who are getting a 1418 error in iTunes when trying to restore the iPod.
Thanks to everyone who sent in the logs.

  • HT1339 Ipod Nano stuck in restore cycle

I have 2 Ipod Nanos (Gen 2 and Gen 4) that were working fine until the Itunes 11 updates. Now when I connect them to the up to Itunes it states that they need to be restored. I try to restore but it just cycles back into restore mode and just stays in the loop.  I can take them to a Itunes version that I have not updated (version 10.4) and they restore fine and sync well. Unfortunatly I have to reload the operating system on the machine I have the old version on.
My question is 2 fold- 1- Is there a fix for these older IPODs that will allow them to work with the newer version od ITUNES? and 2- if not, how can I get an older version of Itunes?
Thanks for any help you can give.

  • My iPod Shuffle can't restore on iTunes.

When I plug it into the PC the orange light starts flashing and it shows up on iTunes, it tells me to restore my iPod, but when I try to restore it comes up as an ''Error 2005''. I've tried all the different USB ports on my PC and tried uninstalling iTunes and nothing has worked.

    Hey Drsockmonster,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
This article has some more steps to try for the error code you are getting.
Resolve specific iTunes update and restore errors
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3694#2000
    Check USB connections
    Related errors: 13, 14, 1600, 1601, 1602, 1603, 1604, 1611, 1643-1650, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2005, 2006, 2009, 4000, 4005, 4013, 4014, 4016, “invalid response,” and being prompted to restore again after a restore completes.
If there’s an issue with the USB port, cable, dock, or hub, or if the device becomes disconnected during restore, try troubleshooting the USB connection, then troubleshooting your security software.
To narrow down the issue, you can also change up your hardware:
    Use another USB cable.
Plug your cable into a different USB port on your computer.
Try a different dock connector (or no dock).
Add (or remove) a USB hub between your device and computer.
Connect your computer directly to your Internet source, with no routers, hubs, or switches.
If you checked your connections and are still seeing the error message, check for hardware issues.
    Have a nice day,
    Mario

  • Ipod stuck in endless restore loop...

I,ve had my ipod for a while, and all was well, untill one day i got the screen telling me to use itunes to restore. so i went to my computer and went on itunes and it asked me if i wanted to restore, so i did.
unfortunately it did nothing and it still had the same message on it, even after countless restores.
ive tryed all my usb slots, 3 different computers, formating it with the hp formatter ( error: media device is write-protected) and changing the drive letter in computer management (tells me that its unreadable or something, cant remember, but it doesn't show it as an ipod), ive try different vesions of itunes, but nothing works....
i took it to a nearby apple product selling shop and they said it might have to be repaired...
    is this true?
    btw: its on a pc.

Have you tried to do a Restore on a Mac? If you got the same result then it needs for a service

  • 2.0.1 And the Endless Restore Cycle

    Hey...
So update my iphone this morning, it errored after 10mins or so (probably my machine's fault) and the iphone went into restore mode. Did a full firmware restore, then restored my data from a backup.
Restarted iphone, everything back to normal! woop! Plugged it into itunes...
Would you like to restore this iphone? Uh... didn't i already do that? well I suppose one more restore can't harm anything. Full restore, iphone back to normal. Plugged it in... Would you like to restore this phone?
ARGH!! It doesn't realise that I've already restored the iphone, and won't let me sync with itunes. If i sync it as a new iphone I'll lose all my contacts/calendar etc!!
    Anybody know a way round?
    Thanks

If nothing else works, you can go into settings/reset and to a erase and restore settings. This will set it up to factory conditions with no data. You will have to reactivate it via iTunes and when it gets to the restore screen, select set up as new phone. The erase procedure takes about 1 hour.
