IPOD Shuffle - manually transerrring Music from Various Libraries
I have a 1st or 2nd generation IPOD Shuffle and it is "identified" (or set to be synced) with one particular computer. When I try to manually transfer some songs to my shuffle from a different computer in my house (each computer is one of the 5 allowed on my Itunes Account), it says something to the effect of "this is not the computer set up to sync with your IPOD. Do you want to sync your IPOD with this Library" to which I respond "No" because I just want to manually transfer some songs from this Library. However, once I answer no, the IPOD is not recognized in Itunes and I can't transfer music to my shuffle (in other IPODS I own, like the touch, it lets me manage things manually like this). Any ideas please! (for what it's worth, one computer is a PC and one is a MAc, but I think that's irrelevant to this issue)
The iPod shuffle can't contain music from multiple iTunes libraries at once. If there is a Transfer Purchases button on that dialog box, press it and then sync the iPod with that computer's library.

Was your wife logged into the libray at the time you tried to log in? I have had a similar problem and it was because another user was logged into the library when I attempted to. I got the permission denied banner.

You need to select the songs on the iPod (in iTunes) and hit Delete.
Since you are Manually managing, Apply doesn't do anything to Music on the iPod. -

Need help to put my IPOD in manual manage music. When my older Ipod is connected to Itunes it does not give me the option to put in manual manage music mode. I am using a different PC that which I installed my music and audiobooks. My overdrive pgm requires I put it in manual mode to transfer and audio book I have on my PC.
No, it will sync the ipod to the content of the MBA which presumably has nothing on it (= erasing content of iPod and replacing it with nothing).

Quick answer if you let iTunes manage your music: Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive. Start iTunes with the option key held down and guide it to the new location of the library.

You can authorize up to five computers for your iTunes purchases.
If manually managing your device you can add content from any library.
If automactially syncing content is managed from one library.
Purchased content can be transfered from a device into an authorised library, otherwise iTunes only transfers content to the device.

I have a similar problem. I recieved an IPAD for my birthday, and my daughter updated my itunes library so i can use it with the ipad...and somehow all my songs (unpurchased from itunes, and downloaded from a large collection of CDs) ...and play lists were deleted. I still have them on my old ipod, and wonder how to get them back onto my computer so I can redistribute some of them to the ipad. I must be getting too old for this tech stuff, it gets less user friendly every year.

Please disregard. I figured it out. Answer for anyone else running into this problem: You have to turn off iTunes Match on both devices. Apparently, if you activate iTunes Match it deactivates your abiltiy to direct sync.

I have new music I am adding to my itunes. My ipod has the existing music from my itunes. I want to delete the existing music from the ipod and only select the new music just imported into itunes be sync'd on to my ipod?
Open itunes, connect ipod, select what you want to sync ( in the music tab) sync.

ITunes 11.1 won't let me manually transfer music from my library to my iPod.
I just updated my iTunes to Version 11.1 and installed iOS 7 onto my iPod Touch. I'm trying to manually add all of the music from my library onto my iPod but it won't let me.
- Under the "Summary" tab I have the option "Manually Manage Music & Videos" checked off
- Under the "Music" tab I DO NOT have the option checked off that says "Sync Music"
- Before I upgraded to iOS 7 I deleted all of my music from my iPod and so I have full capacity of storage left on my device
- iTunes says that I have 52.71 GB Free out of 64 GB
- When I try and move any of the music from my library onto my device a red x is highlighted and it won't let me add anything to my device
- I have restarted my computer
- I have re-started my iPod Touch several times
- I tried un-installing iTunes 11.1 and then re-installing it on my PC
- My PC is running Windows 7 64Bit
I've never had this problem before so I don't understand what is wrongIf you had the same problem as me with my iphone 5, then follow these instructions and syncing new music should work.
Whilst in itunes 11.1 click the icon in the top left corner, it gives you options, click 'Add file to library' (ctrl+o) and add the music from your computer to the itunes library.
Once you see the music in your itunes library, drag the songs from your library to the right and an iphone/ipod section should appear and you drop it into your ipod.
Once this is done, click the ipod icon which should be on the right (near the top area) and once on the ipod options, go down and press sync. All the music that you added will appear on your ipod.

Hi I have just purchased a mac, my itunes had previously been loaded onto my old PC and it was relatively easy for me to manually drag and drop my new purchases from my library into the sidebar which showed my Ipod and its playlists (I dont ike the automatic sync function as ive heard you can wipeout all your music this way). When I did this the synchonise 'wheel' would whir round on the ipod's screen and also as a little icon next to the playlist/folder I had dropped the song into. Now on my new mac all I seem to be able to do is autofill into my 'Music' folder on my Ipod but cannot drag new songs into particular playlists. It seems to view the ipod and my library as two seperate screens?? Did I not install it right? i presumed that logging into itunes and plugging in my ipod would be all I need to do. All my songs are there but I cannot interchange music from my library into my ipod playlists. Can anyone help?

Hi, my son has a second generation shuffle (the first type of aluminium clip-on one) and the current version of iTunes "talks" to it just fine. iTunes is a free download from Apple. That's all the software you need.

i have aweb service created thru workshop that exposes session bean methods. the method calls take an inordinate amount of time to come back (around 10 mins) and the SOAP request times out. is there any way (synchronously) to bump up the timeout?
