IPod shuffle ( new version)

I have had the unit plugged into my Powerbook G4 overnight and still the orange light does not change to green ( charged). What's up?

Ipod touch new version update

G'day all, I connected up my touch to the computer tonight (first time in a couple of months) and itunes said a new version for my ipod touch was available so started the up date and that was the end of my beloved ipod as I knew it. I've uninstalled itune and redownloaded the new version twice, I followed one of the other users advice and forced a download but still come up with error (9). Can someone please help. Thanks

There is a tab concerned with specific errors. From that tab:
*Error 9:* This error occurs when the device unexpectedly drops off of the USB bus and communication stops. This can occur if the device is manually disconnected during the restore process. This issue can be resolved by performing USB isolation troubleshooting, using a different USB dock connector cable, trying another USB port, restoring on another computer, or by eliminating conflicts from third-party security software.
You might wish to reboot your computer and turn off "third-party security software" while you get things fixed.

Itunes does not recognize ipod after new version was intalled

I just downloaded and installed the new iTunes 7.1.3.1 version and when I first plugged the ipod after the instalation it said " unable to update ipod". I unplugged the ipod from computer and when I tried to play, it frozze up. Now I can't turn off , or do anything w/ it. I tried the troubleshhoting steps of Apple's web site, but no help there. Now my itunes will not recognize the ipod, nor does it update my podcasts. Any help out there???? I have WIN XP, IE 7.

Hi I can't sync my ipod with new version of itunes after losing old pc

Hi my old pc crashed and burned taking with it my entire itunes library. thought i'd backed up onto external hard drive but can't find anything. Atleast i still have a full ipod. However i've downloaded itunes onto my new laptop and when i try to sync with my ipod to put those tunes into the libray it says 'this ipod is synced with another itunes library. do you want to erase this ipos and sync with this itunes library'. If i do that i have nothing left. How can i 'un sync' the old computer that is no longer in existence. Hope someone can help, would be a shame to lose everything! Thanks Mary

Apple Mobile Device Support is part of the itunes install package. To install it by itself would require downloading itunes to your desktop then using something like WinRar to extract it. Quite frankly, trying to go this route can create more problems than you have right now. Something in your system is preventing AMDS from being installed. Your USB drivers up to date? Install any webcams lately? When you try to reinstall itunes, are your firwalls. ant-virus, ant-malware disabled? If I were you, I'd look at this stuff first. If you want to try & install AMDS separately, I've told you how, but I don't recommend it.

How to manually add songs and playlists to ipod with new version of itunes?

So I didn't have any problem adding songs to my ipod nano manually until I updated itunes a few minutes ago, and found the settings completely different than previously. I can no longer just drag songs and playlists to my ipod. I have "manually manage music" and "enable disk use" selected. I do not want to sync my whole library to it. I have more songs in my library than can fit on my ipod. And I already have my playlists set up how I want them. Can someone help?

go to iphone, then on the page below click the Add To... icon on the top right.
then its easiest to view them by songs. and then you can drag and drop from them and click Done when finished

Can't the iPod nano 7th gen. VoiceOver function identify which language that is being used? My iPod Shuffle can.

I am very satisfied with my iPod SHUFFLE (last version), especially with the VoiceOver function which is (quite) able to identify correctly which language is being used in every song: For a Norwegian artist / a song in Norwegian, the artist and title is pronounced in Norwegian; for a French artist / a song in French, the artist and title is pronounced in French; for an English artist / a song in English, the artist and title is pronounced in English etc. A really impressive and useful function!
I was very surprised and dissatisfied to find that my new iPod nano 7th generation does not seem to work this way: I am able to select the language to be used in VoiceOver, but then this language is used in everything that is pronounced. Most of my music is in English language, so this is what I have selected. But to hear Norwegian artists' names and Norwegian titles pronounced with an English-speaking voice is quite disturbing.
I believe I have been through all possible settings in the nano and in iTunes to correct this, but I am unable to find a solution. I have also asked people at an Apple store, but they were unable to help. Can anybody help? Or is it really possible that this excellent function has been removed?
(Could it be that the previous version of iTunes could fix the problem? I have installed the last one, v. 11.0.1.12.)

4th gen ipod shuffle not recognised in windows

I have just bought this ipod shuffle new 4th gen and cannot get windows vista or xp to recognse it. The cable is pushed in fully and have tried changing ports but still no connection. Have also tried turning on and off etc but no luck. Any suggestions?

I finally exchanged the shuffle for a replacement which worked perfectly.

Everytime I update my ipod - loading new songs - my Album art doesn't show

I don't know if this has been happening to other ppl, but ever since I updated my ipod to newer version of OS4, my album art doesn't show up when it locks to home screen. When I go into music - it shows that the album art is there, but when I lock my ipod, the album art doesn't show up. But when I turn off and on again, it works again. It's just really annoying to always turn off my ipod and on again. And also I've noticed that after updating my ipod (loading new songs) it seems really slow - but when I turn if off and on again - it works normally.
I Don't have lots of songs or movies - I have used a little over half of the space. It's just that these things only happened right after I updated my OS to newer iOS4!
Can either someone make a better iOS4 or something?

Try deleting the songs from your iPod, then in your iTunes library delete the album art and reload the album art back to the songs and put them back on your iPod.

I have recently updated my iTunes to the latest version in order to sync music onto my new ipod shuffle. However after a successful installation the application does not launch or open? There are no error messages. The application is just unresponsive.
I have already checked the compatibility with Safari, my operating system and checked my firewall is not blocking it - all is fine.
Does anyone have any other resolutions?

TS1363 I have an ipod shuffle, 7yrs old. Says I have an error and to re-install. Then it tells me, this file cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of itunes. I cannot find any newer version and don't recall downloading it anyway.

Told to re-install itunes. When I do, it tells me "This file cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of itunes." Therefore I can't re-install! Can't seem to find a way to get itunes back. This is a 8 yr old ipod shuffle...

As long as your computer supports it, the latest iTunes will work with all shuffle models, back the first one.
Just one thing. The latest iTunes hides the sidebar, which can be confusing for long-time users. To show the sidebar, from the menu bar, under Views, select Show Sidebar.

Ok people after messing up three days with my jailbroken ipod touch cauze my itunes didn't recognize it i figured out that the problem is first windows recognized it as a imaging device o as a camera, i found in the device manager was listed mi apple ipod under portable devices and there was the problem it has to be listed under universal serial bus controllers named as a apple ipod so this is what i did but first make sure u have correctly installed itunes and the apple mobile device support:
1 open the device manager or windows button + r is run and then type devmgmt.msc
2 look for the portable devices and find the apple ipod or wherever that is listed on your pc.
3 once u find the apple ipod do a right click on it and click on uptade driver software
4 take the manualy opcion or browse on my computer and then look for this folder on your computer C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers
there should be the driver that itunes recognize and your windows wont recognize your ipod as a camera again but i repeat u have to make sure u have installed the apple mobile device support u can get it by extracting the itunes+quicktime package using winrar. so click on update or next what ever on the update process and next time itunes will open your ipod for sincying thanks to forums ilounge.com

I've recently upgraded to the latest version of itunes. Now every time i connect my ipod shuffle to try and update my song list it isn't recognised. I've solved the same problem and in order for you to do soo you have to follow these stept if your running windows:
1'st step is to go into the device manager
2 step is to go to portable devices (it is rught under network adapters)
3 step is to right clic apple iphone and click update drivers
4 step is to brows your drivers from C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers
After that your itunes will pump up alown and youl see your iphone right there.

Why not? Does iTunes no lnoger see the iPod Shuffle when you have it connected via USB? It doesn't appear in the upper right hand corner underneath the search bar when plugged in?
