Ipod Shuffle Not Being Able To Be Restored Or Recognized By Itunes
My 512 mb Ipod shuffle i've had for nine months has took a turn for the worst. It was working fine but then i put a couple of new songs on it and went to listen to it and the only songs on it were my new ones. I would hear one of them and then nothing. I went to see what was wrong and my itunes wouldn't recognize it and my ipod updater wouldn't either. I went through all the hoops and ladders of http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93716
but nothing worked. Now i'm too the point when i load up my ipod updater with my ipod shuffle in the computer it sits there and says "initializing" and freezes, not even an ipod service error message. I am in desperate need of help!!!

i have the same problem too, i was up for 6 hours using http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93716 in an attempt to fix my 512 mb Ipod shuffle and it didnt work.

Hi, I just bought 2 Apple iPod Shuffles from eBay. I have a slight problem. When I plug them into my USB port, iTunes does not recognize them. They show up in My Computer though. When I try to re-install/reset the factory settings it says "Plug in a device" or something like that. My guess is that I bought them from a Mac user.
My question is: How might I go about converting it from Mac to Windows?

HP Pavilion Laptop Windows XPI have a similar problem, my iPod Shuffle is being read in my Windows 2000 but in the iTunes it's not being recognized.
When I try to play the iPod, the green and orange lights blink simultaneously.
When I try and double-click on the icon for it in My Computer, it's saying that it can't be accessed because of an I/O device error.
Finally, I come to the site and get the latest update and when I try to update, it's saying that there's an iPod service error.
Hope that generalizes everything of what I'm saying and similar to Niko's problem as well. -
New 3rd Gen. 4 GB iPod Shuffle not being recognized by computer or iTunes
Hey everyone, I've read some of the other posts here on this thread about other people having problem getting their computer to recognize the new 4 GB iPod Shuffle when plugged into the USB drive, and it seems like I am having a very similar issue. I just received my iPod in the mail a few days ago and tried plugging it into the USB and got NO response whatsoever from my computer or iTunes. I am operating with Windows XP (Service Pack 3) on a Dell Inspiron Intel processor, 2 GHz with 3 GB RAM, with iTunes 8.1 (just updated). When I put something in my USB usually I hear a noise (sounds like DO-do ha) which tells me that my laptop recognizes whatever is plugged in, and usually I get a little box in the bottom right hand part of the screen that says it's been plugged in. I didn't get any of this when I plugged it in.
When I first opened the box I turned the shuffle on and the light went green for 1 second, orange for 1 second, red for one second, then dead..I suppose this is expected since I figured it's new and needs to be charged, so I turned the shuffle off, plugged the USB into the earphone socket then into my USB, and then turned the shuffle on, and got nothing but the same sequence of lights. It's one thing if iTunes just didn't recognize the shuffle, but I checked the Device Manager and My Computer and the USB drive wasn't even listing the shuffle as being plugged in..maybe the USB cable that came with it is faulty?? I read all of the technical troubleshooting notes on here and tried the 5 R's and nothing is working at all..
I do have one guess about this though..I also have an 80 GB iPod 5th generation that I've used for over a year now for my car and that plugs into the USB fine with its respective cable and is recognized by iTunes..my question is, can my iTunes only recognize one iPod at a time? Does it reject the shuffle because iTunes is only allowed to sync to one iPod per account? If this is true, is there a way around this so it can sync both, or can I have two iTunes accounts on the same computer? But why does the computer not even recognized it when plugged in? Hopefully it is just the cable that is damaged and not the device..wow this was long, but any advice would be greatly appreciated, thank you!GTEagle05 wrote:

IPod shuffle not being recognised in iTunes in a new country
Hi there, I initially used my iPod shuffle (4th Generation) in Australia on my laptop and it was recognised in iTunes with no problem. Now I want to connect my iPod shuffle on a new computer in Greece. My iPod shuffle however is being recognised in 'my computer', but not in iTunes.
Help would be most appreciated ASAP, what should I do?
Thank you!The flashing light is good. It means that the system (the OS) is seeing the iPod's "disk," and it is actually mounted. When the light is flashing, it means DO NOT DISCONNECT (eject shuffle before physically disconnecting).
When do get this error code? Is it when the iPod is syncing with iTunes?
If you have other USB devices connected, you may want to try it after shutting down (powering off) the computer and disconnecting all USB devices, including any hub. You can leave standard keyboard and mouse connected, if normally used. If your computer is a laptop, connect its power adapter, so that it's not running on battery power. Do this to reset your shuffle

In the attempt of updating my ipod touch, i am faced with the problem of not being able to be connected to the itunes in my computer (windows xp ) because my ipod touch got blocked up, leaving the icon of USB cable and itunes on my touch screen. I am asked to restore my ipod first, but i have tried using all the examples stated and still can't help. Please please, can some one help me out ? Why is it that even though I've deleted all the songs on my ipod, the songs still show up in gray letters in spite on not being able to hear them.
First of all, try another port on your computer. Some ports are not connected direct to the motherboard and do not recognize the iPod as well as those that are. Reset the iPod each time you connect it to another port.

ahh! .I restored my iphone recently and put all my music back onto my phone that day and it was fine but last night i was putting someother music on got an error music on. I got an error message about not being able to sync and now ALL my music has GONE. deos anyone know why this would have happened?

My iPad says it has to restore to update, but it will not. It is caught in a cycle of not being able to restore but needed to restore. I keep getting error code 3014 but I can not figure out what this means! nor can I do anything about it! So Frutrated!

When connected via iTunes iPod Shuffle charge light does not come on and WIN8 Control Panel Hardware status indicates a problem with the iPod. WIN8 troubleshooting results in the following message:
Windows is uninstalling this device. (Code 21).
No such problems exist when iPod is connected in WIN7 via iTunes i.e. charge light came on and the device was recognised OK by WIN7Control Panel Hardware status.

Ipod touch not being recognized by itunes (but is registering as an external drive by the computer itself) have updated and reinstalled itunes, stopped/started apple mobile device and removed any mobile programs associated with my non apple cellphone. This seems to have started happening after the last Itunes update I did as I was able to put music on my ipod touch a month or so ago. Is there some way to go back to an older version of itunes? I really have no idea what else to do since I followed every step on the trouble shooting page for windows 8.

Scroll to the bottom and enter your password to log onto your home sharing
Then connect to iTunes and sync! -
Blue Screen with Text re IPOD size not being valid
Now everytime I reboot, I get a blue screen full of text about the IPOD size not being valid, and I have to hit the reset button to get out of the loop.
THEN, when I try to just wipe everything off the IPOD and start over/Restore, I get a message that says IPOD manager internal error.With the internal memory error message stopping Update, I went online to see if I could manually download the latest update...or any update. Even a previous version.
But to do that I have to go back to Itunes 7...The only reason I don't like version 7 is that my Ipod contents disappear from the Itunes source window when the Ipod is not connected to the computer.
Anyone know of a more reliable mp3 player ?
