Ipod shuffle not playing songs in a playlists order

I am having a problem with my ipod shuffle after the 7.2 update. when I make a playlist for podcasts to play in a specific order, i copy the podcast to a new playlist and click on the left most column on the numbers. This is supposed to tell the shuffle to sort the list by the numbers and play them in order.... WELL its not doing that, when I sync it to the ipod shuffle the playlists keeps rearraging the podcasts or songs in what ever order it deems. I DO NOT have the shuffle button turned on in itunes nor on the shuffle itself. and in both the ipod shuffle contents tab and the playlist that i dragged over to the shuffle both number columns are marked... so there is no reason that i can see for it not to play in order... Is anyone else having this problem? and if so any ideas on how to correct the problem. THanks for your possible help...

My 4G Ipod shuffle does not play songs in the correct order? Already restored to factory settings and no success.. Can anybody help me?

I FINALLY GOT IT! after months of relentless synching/autofilling problems on my 4th generation i figured out the solution.
this is what i did: plugged in ipod on off mode~>manually deleting my ipod's songs~>restored factory settings~>unchecked automatic synch~>made a new playlist with exactly the songs & order i wanted for my ipod (just dragged old playlists into the new one)~>then autofilled that new playlist into my ipod. came out like a charm! (before u autofill UNCHECK random add songs)
my ipod always ended up autofilling/synching my customized playlists wrong or it would automatically do my music library (and that was way unorganized), so this worked.

  • Ipod Does not Play songs

Ipod does not play music. Instead of playing the song, it just lists the title (like when a song is playing) and then moves to the next song without playing the song. It's as if it automatically forwards to the next song (song titles displays for every second). And this occurs in shuffle mode, and/or selecting a playlist. Need help! Ipod was purchased in this site on May 27,2006.

  • IPod Classic not playing songs

    Hi
Grabbed my 160 GB iPod Classic yesterday and the entire thing was empty. No clue what happened. The only thing I did was update the OS and download a new album from iTunes.
Resynched the device twice now and now the iPod is not playing some songs. Some play, some tracks skip on to the next one without playing.
Not finding a clear solution in my searches, though others seem to have had the issue.
All my songs play fine in iTunes.
Would love a solution, cuz I like my iPod!
    thanks,
    D

What format are these problematic files encoded in?  I assume you have worked through all of the suggestions here already?

  • IPod does not play songs in order - iPod Shuffle 1GB

When I drag songs to the iPod it adds them to the end of the list and then I sort by song name. When I play them on the iPod they are played at the end. When I hook up the iPod they are listed in the right order but that's not how they are played.
Does anyone know why this is happening and how to get around it?
    Thanks in advance.

  • My iPod will not play songs that I've put on it from my computer.

It plays Them on iTunes, but they will not play on my iPod.
It selects the songs, and brings up the screen, and the icon is on play, but the songs do not play.
They're not songs I bought, it's some that I put on my iPod manually from the music I had on my computer.
I've restored it, and tried again, but I don't know why that didn't work.
Please help me! I'm dying of music depravation.

Are they in a format the iPod can play?

  • IPod is not playing songs and is not being recognised by Windows AT ALL.

Whenever I turn it on, the error flashes and I can't play songs. When I connect it to a computer, a flashing orange light comes on to say it's charging and do not disconnect.
It is not appearing in iTunes, My Computer. Device manager shows a 'storage device' and that it is located on an Apple iPod.
I run the iPod installer that came on the disc, it recognises the iPod is there and says it needs to be formatted. I press format but then it says there was an error communicating with the iPod. There is nothing I can do about this.
Is this happening to anyone else and what can I do? If you need more information, just ask. Tech support was no real use and I am becoming very frustrated.

  • IPod shuffle not playing music

After a few months of having an ipod shuffle I decided to finally use it. I did EVERYTHING according to the instructions without any problems. I didn't get any error indications from my pc or iTunes software (latest version).
Now, I 'm trying to listen to the music I loaded and I can't hear any sound at all! I tried the following: 1. I turned my ipod off and on again after a few seconds - 2. I made sure that my ipod buttons were not locked and that my battery was fully charged - 3. I tried the "5 R'S" - 4. Also made sure that the headphone connector is pushed in all the way. - 5. I installed and used the "ipod reset utility" and every other thing that I could possibly think of and nothing....
When I turn it on the green light goes on for a few seconds and then shuts off and the only thing that happens after that is that the green light goes on for as long as I push the volume up/down buttons. ( I am positive that my songs are loaded by the way...)
Any ideas? Thanks in advance for any responses.

I'm in the exact same boat. It behaves normally in every way... except it produces no music. This is the fifth iPod I have owned and I've tried everything to fix it. It's used up a lot of my time, and I am very dissatisfied. I'll be sending it in for a replacement if no solutions come up. Also, it's a refurbished model... came broken right out of the box, which really makes me wonder about the "fully tested, works perfectly" crap.

  • Ipod Touch Not Playing Songs

So I just recently purchased a new ipod touch everything worked fine until today when i tried to play some songs and they would not play. It showed the song playing but it wouldnt start and always was on paused even when I clicked play.. Anyone know whats going on?

I ran into the same issue with my new 32gb touch. Everything played fine on my Nano, but when I sync'd my touch, only half the songs played. I have both ipods sync'd with my new computer. When I dusted off my old computer (the one that I actually bought the songs with) and re-sync'd the touch with it, everything worked... So, the only thing I can think of is when I dragged the files to an external hard drive, then dragged them to my new computer, I lost some important data that the touch needed, probably a protection feature. I have everything backed up from the old computer on cd's the long and tedious iTunes way, and will dump my library on the new computer and re-load through the iTunes back-up process, that should fix it.(My non-playing songs show "Protected ACC" on the new computer and "Purchased ACC" on the old computer)

  • Ipod sometimes not playing songs..

my ipod lately has been not playing certain songs. it will skip through the album until it finds one it wants to play i guess is the best way to describe it. it doesnt happen to the same albums every time. when i reset my ipod (select+menu) it sometimes helps, but it still continues to do it. i would hate to reformat my ipod. has this happened to anyone else here?
    thanks

try to check the settings in your itunes..perhaps you have put a certain song to "skip when playing"..select the song and right click then options and you will find certain options to do with your song...

  • IPod will not play songs bought from iTunes more than once

None of the songs I have purchased from the iTunes Store play on my iPod. They play on my Mac, my wife's Mac and my wife's iShuffle, but not my iPod. My iPod is running the lastest software version, and i have the latest iTunes version.
If I format, reset, restore and reload my music, HOORAH!! they play...ONCE. Then I have to do that all over again if I want to play them again. The songs say they are there, they say they are taking up hdd space, but if I try to play the iPod just thinks about it for a second or two and then skips over the song.
I have never had any problem with songs ripped off my CD collection.
Apple are completely useless and offer no assistance and what i have been able to find on their website tells me to do what I've done. Does anyone have any ideas how to make my iPod compatible with the iTunes store?

This just happened to me on one song I purchased from iTunes (it plays fine on iTunes on my MacBook). I'm on iTunes 8.0 (haven't yet upgraded to newest version). Everything else works fine so should I do this for only one song - or is there another easier fix? I did copy the song to a cd so would it work if I just deleted the one song and imported it? Or is this a sign of a deeper problem?

  • Ipod mini not playing songs

    Help
Have had Ipod mini for 18 months and since downloading latest ipod software it is being v temperamental! If you choose an album to play it will start then immediately skip through all songs to end and go back to menu. This is happening on existing albums (ie have been on for some time), new imports and strangely new imports that played 2 days ago.
    Can someone suggest anything
    Custombuilt; XP SP2; 1.2ghz athlon; 512mb RAM;

Play the purchased songs once on your computer. Just go into iTunes, click on the purchased song, and hit the play button. Let it play the song(s), then exit iTunes.
Hook your iPod up to your computer. iTunes should open automatically, as per usual, and will load the songs (if you have chosen to update automatically). Once the update is complete, try the iPod. Mine worked after doing this, thanks to the poster above.
