Ipod shuffle recovery

ipod shuffle 3rd generation ran out of battery so connected it to my computer to charge it and comes up with preapring ipod for recovery and keeps coming up with the same message, the power light on the ipod is red then fades then brightens up when the message comes up. Any ideas please?

Hi, when you say "ran out of battery" is this a one-off situation, or has the battery life been getting shorter and shorter? If it just ran flat one time, and now has gotten stuck somehow, here is what I would try first: get a USB power outlet (like the ones they supply with iPhones) and charge the iPod on that for an hour or so, and see if the LED behaviour is different. If you can't do this, try ejecting the iPod from your operating system (I don't know whether you're using Windows or Mac OS) but leaving it physically connected to the USB port on the computer, and see what the LED does then.

  • Ipod shuffle 2nd gen wont sync music it always gets stuck on a different song everytime and the puts the ipod into recovery mode!

    Hey guys
My dads 2nd gen ipod shuffle will not sync music. I try to sync the music by autofill and manually and it freezes for a long time, and then says the device cannot be found. It then puts the ipod shuffle into recovery mode and i then have to restore the ipod and loose all the data.

The shuffle may be losing its data connection to the computer during the time it is syncing.  If you have not already, you should shut down (power off) the computer.  Disconnect all USB devices (except for standard keyboard and mouse if normally used), including hubs.  Do this to Reset the shuffle
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1655
Start up the computer, run iTunes, and connect the shuffle to a direct USB port.  Try repeating the action that is causing the error.
If that does not help, select the shuffle in iTunes and go to its Settings screen.  There is a checkbox for Enable disk use.  If that setting is checked, uncheck it.  If it is not checked, check it.  Basically, reverse the current setting.  Apply the change.  See of that makes any difference.

  • Ipod shuffle stuck in recovery mode

    hi,
i have an ipod shuffle .. left it for 2 days, i wanted to charged again... but i keep getting either error 2005, or itunes prepqre the ipod for the restoration ... the the red light in the ipod turns off then off, and goes again to being prepare in recovery ( the loop continues for minutes, hours ... nothing)
tried on mac pc ... every possible version of itunes, with another cable, the recovery mode wont stop
if any one can help ill appreciated it .... thanks in advance ^^

You can give this a try
1- uninstall itunes through add/remove along with apple mobile and Quicktime
2- Download latest Itunes and Quicktime and install both check to make sure they are both up to date
3- unplug any other USB device that's attached other than keyboard and mouse
4- turn off ipod and attach it to your system
5- With IPT attached press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for at least 10secs until apple logo appears
6- hopefully windows will recognize the IPT and you try and restore again.

  • Ipod shuffle unable to proceed in recovery proces

My Ipod shuffle (4g) isn't visible in Itunes and in explorer. Recovery doesn't proceed after pop-up notification "Preparing for Recovery". What can I do to make it work again?
Problems started when I accidently disconnected my Ipod during synchronising. Before it worked perfectly.
I've tried removing and installing all apple software (latest Itunes version), but no succes.
In windows device manager Apple mobile device usb driver is visible and working correctly but when I connect Ipod and press Volume- for a few seconds it disappears. Then Preparing for recovery pops up in Itunes, but recovery doesn't proceed.

same thing on another pc. I don't have a mac, so couldn't try that.
Strange thing is that I get the windows notification sound for new hardware (or usb storage) only if I press the volume - button for a few seconds.
Then it's trying to restore and then there is the "eject hardware" sound.

  • My IPOD shuffle cannot be udpated

Every time I try to load a song into my IPOD shuffle I get the following error message:

  • My iPod shuffle will no longer turn on with switch.

My ipod shuffle 3rd generation, will no longer activate by the off on swotch.  I have to plus into electrical outlet to get it to turn on to select what I want to hear.  It no longer turns off after playing selection it continues to play until battery wears down.  Seems the switch is flat, and can't be raised to be activated.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • 1st Generation iPod Shuffle - Won't be recongized by two Macs

Hi... I've read through a lot of topics on this forum and it looks like at some point, these things just stop working (at least, the USB connector stops working).
My iPod Shuffle, 1st Generation, 512MB, can:
    - Play Music
    - Turn on and off
    - Skip forward and backwards
... shows a green light for the charge indicator.
But I cannot get either my G5 or my MacBook to see it, and I've tried every USB port on both computers. iTunes doesn't see it, System Profiler doesn't see it. And hence, I can't use iPod Reset Utility.
I've tried three of the five Rs: Reset, Restart, Re-Try, but cannot Restore it via iTunes (obviously).
My guess, since there weren't any solutions posted here to many similar messages, that there's no recovery from this status.
    Confirm?

    Try 2 more things:
    1. With the Shuffle connected to your computer Reset it, i.e., turn it off and on.
    2. If 1 does not work, power down your Mac, connect the Shuffle and power up the Mac.
If neither work it is probably a broken USB connector.

  • IPod Shuffle will not install or connect to iTunes!

I recently got a Toshiba laptop so had to transfer everything from my old laptop to there. As expected I re-installed iTunes and install my iPhone 4S, iPod Classic, Touch & Nano all work fine. However, my iPod Shuffle 3rd Gen (the one with no buttons) will not install its driver to my PC or connect to iTunes. I dont have a clue what is wrong as when I plug it in it charges with the light and it plays music thats on it from my old laptop fine! The only onboard button is the 3 way switch (OFF/REPLAY/SHUFFLE).
I give many thanks to any help given!
    Thanks,

  • 1st Generation IPod Shuffle

The front light stays a solid green when on and will not play. When the shuffle is connected it shows in ITunes.

yeah. my iPod Shuffle (1st gen) stopped being recognised first by iTunes and then by my computer (I am using a PC). I have done the 5 r's and used the shuffle reset utility but i had to do that on another pc because my computer now crashes every time i even plug the iPod in. I have reformatted it in DOS and reinstalled iTunes with the CD I received with my iPod and reinstalled the iPod driver but still to no avail. Now my PC says when i plug it in that it is a "Player Recovery Device Class" and that any port I plug it into is a low-powered port. But to check that my PC has not damaged the USB ports I tried my camera video camera which only works through high-powered USB2 and that worked...
The iPod now has no lights on it and only when I turn it on or press the battery check button, a very VERY dim orange light comes on for around 3 seconds then disappears. ???????? I CAN'T DO ANYTHING! And i really need it for my art exam on monday - we have 2 days solid of no talking whilst doing our art final piece and i need my iPod to listen to to stop me going insane...

How are you resetting the password?
Resetting User Password in Lion, Mountain Lion & Mavericks
Boot into your Recovery Partition by hold down the Command and R keys whilst booting.
When the Recovery screen appears, go to the Utilities menu and open Terminal.
    In Terminal, type:
    resetpassword
...a small app will open and allow you to choose the user for whom you want to change the password. If you are the admin, be certain that you choose your admin user. Type in your new password twice and give yourself a good hint. Click OK (or Done or whatever) and reboot, enjoying the use of your new, hopefully memorable, password.
    Good luck,

  • I reset my ipod shuffle gen 2 successfully but it still isn't recognized by itunes

I downloaded iPod Reset Utility and according to the app, my iPod shuffle was reset successfully.  However, it still isn't showing up in my finder and iTunes says it can't recognize the ipod until it is reset.  Also, the lights don't go on.  Battery dead/needing replacement?  Can it be reset without a functioning battery?

First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  It could take well over an hour!  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.
