Anapod Reinitializer 1.0.0
Anapod Reinitializer is a free, lightweight utility for reformatting and reinitializing your iPod. Its function is equivalent to the Restore button in the Apple iPod Updater utility. Anapod Reinitializer runs on all versions of Windows, so it allows Windows 98/ME users (who cannot use Apple's software because it only runs on 2000/XP) to format their iPods.
Anapod Explorer 8.7.3
Anapod Explorer is hands-down the most advanced Windows software companion for your iPod. Anapod can copy and backup iPod music and playlists to your PC and integrates your iPod into Windows Explorer as a full-fledged device under My Computer, allowing you to transfer files to your iPod as well and use a familiar Explorer interface to manage on-board music, playlists, contacts, notes, and more. Also included are a built-in database called AnapodSQL and a one-of-a-kind web-based streaming interface to your iPod called Anapod Xtreamer.

  • ITunes shows my iPod Shuffle as windows formated after reformating to mac

iTunes on my Dual G4 MDD system still shows my iPod shuffle as windows formated after reformating it with disk utility. iTunes on my 12 inch PowerBook & ancient iBook both show this same iPod Shuffle as mac formated. All machines are running Tiger 10.4.9 with iTunes 7.2. The Dual G4 MDD system has my large iTunes library but so far I've not been able to sync my iPod Shuffle to this library. This large iTunes library works fine with my iPod G3 and my appleTV.
Power PC Dual 1Ghz G4 (MDD)   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

I got this iPod Shuffle used. It had been formated in windoes fat32. Until I formated it with disk utility all my mac instances of iTunes showed it as windows formated and had the update and restore buttons grayed out with a warning that windows formated iPods couldn't be updated or restored on a macintosh.
After reformating the iPod, iTunes in both of my laptops recognized the iPod Shuffle as being macintosh formated and showed iPod Shuffle's software version 1.0.3 and the iPod Shuffle's serial number. But, my old G4 tower system's iTunes still shows the iPod Shuffle as windows formated with no software version available, no serial number and nasty errors occurring on attempting to sync.
I can sync to the much smaller iTunes library on my PowerBook but I realy do want to solve this mystery and sync to the larger and richer library on my old G4 Tower.

  • Connecting iPod Shuffle to Windows Vista RTM

Dear all, I'm having problems connection my great iPod Shuffle to my newly installed Windows Vista RTM.
When I connect the iPod it's is shown as a Device. But I cannot copy any files to the device. It "hangs" for a few minutes before it stops with an error message. "Could not actualize to device. Unknown Error (-50).
Any ideas what this could be? Or is iTunes just NOT "Vista Ready" yet?
    Thanks
    Simon

    1) Check and see if it will sync under XP compatibility mode (right click the program, not the shortcut> click properties, there will be a compatibility tab). A popup may nag you about changing the compatibility, just ignore it for the time being.
    2) Check your USB hardware drivers to have them up to date. Vista is one of the weirdest OS's I've been around lately that uses older (read: not native or "updated") drivers and messes up on them...
    3) The iPod service might be misbehaving. You can restart it by going to start> right click my computer>
manage> services and applications> services> click iPod service> click restart service.
    4) NT OS's (including Vista) tend to be "closed oriented" on bidirectional hardware access, so make sure you can connect to other devices as well.
So much for the rumored iTunes update with the "colored" shuffles... I guess that's for later...

  • Connecting Ipod Shuffle to windows

I give. When I try to connect my Ipod shuffle 2nd gen. to my computer (dell running windows xp) it shuts down and re-boots the computer every time. I charged the Shuffle off line with a 120V plug in charger that didn't help. Other devices I.E. thumb drives work in the USB's without a problem. Two USB ports and I tried both. I also have a Video Ipod that works fine. Can anyone help?

When I try to connect my Ipod shuffle 2nd gen. to my computer (dell running windows xp) it shuts down and re-boots the computer every time.
Are you getting any sort of blue screen just prior to the PC rebooting? If so, what numerical and text codes are you getting with it? (ie 0x\[zeros/letters/numbers] CAPSANDUNDERSCORES)
If the blue screen mentions a specific file (for example, “ati3duag.dll”), let us know what that is called too. (Exact spelling, please.)
Here's a reference on the sorts of things i'm asking about:
    Troubleshooting Windows Stop Messages
If you're not seeing a blue screen (or if you’re just seeing a flash of a blue screen before the PC reboots), we can use the following technique to make hidden blue screens appear for us:
    1) Open your system control panel (Start->Control Panels->System).
    2) Select the "Advanced" tab.
    3) Click the "Startup and Recover" section's "Settings" button
    4) Verify that under "System Failure" the "Automatically restart" checkbox is not checked.
With those settings in place, does a blue screen appear before the PC reboots?

  • Restoring iPod Shuffle using windows vista if the device is not showing on itunes?

    Hello fellow iPod users
I had this problem in the past, using different computers. Whenever I change the computer, this happens with my iPod... and the solution is always to restore it to factory default.
Currently my iPod shuffle first generation is showing on Windows (Computer), but not on iTunes. I am operating. I tried all the procedures on the support website (re installed itunes, quicktime and all other apple software, changed security software, plugged and unplugged the iPod, reinstalled the usb ports)... after I tried extra procedings such as restoring system and changing to another computer, but the problem seems to continue. When I turn on iPod, it flashes the green and yellow light.
When I plug another iPod on the computer, on the same USB port, iTunes recognizes it and it works perfectly.
So the problem seems to be the same that I had in the past, exactly the same.
    My question then is this:
I try to use the restore utilty provided on apple website, but it is not compatible with Windows Vista nor 7. The option given by Apple is to use iTunes to restore the device, but hey, it doesn´t show on the device list, so how can I restore it if it doesn´t show???
I already had this exact same problem and the solution was always the same, but this time I don´t have an Windows XP computer available...
I also had iTunes run a device connectivity diagnosis and it reported all positive results, including: iPod found and USB ports checked.

  • I need help restarting my ipod shuffle using windows vista.

When plugging my ipod shuffle 2nd gen into my computer it cannot be recognized. Itunes tells me to download the rest utility which of course only works with windows xp or 2000 and i am running windows vista and know no one who still runs windows xp or 2000. Im no where near an ipod store and itunes customer service 1800 number has been useless. Please help all i want to do is go running but i cant do that without my music!

    Hello ChristinaHeras,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
For more information on this, take a look at:
iPod: What to do if Windows displays an "itunes.exe - Corrupt File" message
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1842
We recommend using the latest version of iTunes to restore iPod because this will address the file system issue and will also defragment the iPod drive. Although you can use the Chkdsk utility to fix file system errors on the drive mapped to iPod, Chkdsk will not defragment the drive.
Warning: The restore process cannot be undone. All of your songs and files will be deleted. Always make a backup of your important data.
Tip: Make sure you always eject iPod properly and that you wait for the orange light to stop blinking before disconnecting iPod shuffle. Read Understanding iPod shuffle status lights to learn more about iPod shuffle status lights.
This issue may be more likely to occur on iPod shuffle if iPod shuffle's file system has become heavily fragmented. A restore will eliminate fragmentation. Chkdsk will not.
    Best of luck,
    Mario

  • Ipod shuffle on windows oke on MBP not?

My ipod shuffle, works well on my old windows pc. On my MBP however it won’t recognize the ipod shuffle. It doesn’t pop-up in itunes.  Both pc’s have 10.3.1.55 of itunes. I have a second ipod shuffle and everything goes as you wood expected. Who knows the answer fort his? Both Ipods are version2.

"Why is that a mac formatted iPod will only work on macs, but a windows formatted iPod will work on a Mac or PC? Nuts to me."
Blame Microsoft. It's their doing that Windows will not recognize the HFS+ file format system.
If you need to use a Mac (HFS+) formatted iPod on a Windows PC, you'll need to install some 3rd party software such as XPlay 2.0 (which you can get from MediaFour Software). This will enable your Windows PC to read a Mac-formatted iPod.

  • TS1369 2nd generations Ipod Shuffle with Windows 8?

How do you get a 2nd generations Ipod Shuffle compatible with Windows 8? (it works on just fine in earlier versions)
If you plug it in through a USB connection it blinks orange/green really really fast. It is not recognized neither by Itunes or Windows (PC), Not recognized nor taking any charge.
I first thought it just came to the end of its life, but then plugging it in with my old laptom (Windows XP) and another laptop (Widows Vista) it worked just fine.
I have the newest version of all my software, so this has to be a driver compatibility issue, the question has Apple solved it yet?

I asked about the USB docking cable because some folks who also have a 3rd or 4th gen shuffle were trying to use the cable from those shuffles with a 2nd gen shuffle.  Or they bought a replacement part that is for the 3rd or 4th gen shuffle.  It fits, but the connector is different, so it does not work.
You have determined that the shuffle and its cable work properly when connected to a different computer.  Since the Windows 8 computer is a new computer that was not used with this shuffle before, the cause could be related to the computer's hardware or software.
As a test, if you have another device that is similar to an iPod, such as a USB flash drive or a mini external hard drive that is powered by the USB port (not something low-power like a mouse or keyboard), connect it to the computer's USB port to confirm the port does generally work for other things.
If the USB port is confirmed to work for other devices, if you have a USB hub, as another test, connect the hub to the USB port.  Perferably, the hub is the type that is self-powered (has its own power supply).  Connect the shuffle to the hub to see if that makes any difference if the hub is between the iPod and the computer.

  • Listening to Ipod Shuffle with Windows or other media player

Is there any way to listen to an Ipod Shuffle through any computer without the use of the Itunes software, like through Windows Media Player, Real player or Quicktime, simply by attaching the shuffle to the dock and usb port as a "removable hardware device?" I would also like to know why some downloaded songs stop in the middle of them and it quickly skips onto the next track/song? What is up with that? It's quite annoying.

Not with the iPod Shuffle dock, no.
iPods were designed to work w/ iTunes as an integrated hardware/software system. Maybe other, bigger, pods will do what you want, but the shuffle dock can only sync w/ the comp (exchange data) and charge the pod, it does not provide an audio connection to the comp via USB.
That said, if you use the appropriate cable w/ a 1/8" plug to connect a Shuffle to a comp, powered speakers, or stereo system, the pod will function as a music player just fine, but it will not charge while connected in that way.
When a Shuffle is in its dock and connected to a comp, if you 'play' its displayed contents in iTunes, the comp is actually playing the music files that reside on its hard drive, not the music files on the pod.
Regarding your 'skipping' song downloads, I suspect that the files were not fully downloaded. Is it always the same songs that don't finish and skip to the next song? Where were they downloaded from?

  • IPod Shuffle and Windows 7

I just purchased an iPod Shuffle and attempted to use it on my Windows 7 Beta. iTunes installs and works just fine, but as soon as I hook my Shuffle up, it attempts to sync for roughly 3 minutes and then tells me something along the lines of "Cannot Recognize Disk".
    Anyone have any ideas?

Well, that's certainly understandable. However, once Windows 7 is actually out of Beta, this issue may continue to exist. I suppose it's a good thing that it's been discovered now while in Beta mode. I intend on notifying Microsoft about this as well.

  • IPod Shuffle and Windows 98se

Why can't the iPod Shuffle work with Windows 98se? Ever since the introduction of Windows 2000 and XP, I have resisted upgrading because of some of the security and privacy issues. Now it seems, the iPod shuffle is dragging me, kicking and screaming, to Upgradeland. Is there no "patch" that will allow it to load on a 98se?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
This is all I can think of...
    http://win98.drivers.w.interia.pl/ipod.html
It won't work as great as if you had iTunes and you don't have the whole "iPod experience". It is not as integrated and not guaranteed to work. There may be many problems.
Either way, you should seriously consider upgrading to XP or even better, a mac mini which would probably work with your current setup (your monitor, keyboard, and mouse) as upgrading to XP may cost $200 and you may need to upgrade some components on your PC. It may not be cost-effective to work with your current computer depending on how new or old it is.

  • HT1238 How would you reset a Ipod shuffle with windows 7

Attempting to give my old ipod shuffle away and want to set it to factory settings with windows 7, is there a way to do this.

Connect shuffle.  Run iTunes.  In the sidebar, select shuffle under DEVICES.  Over to the right, go to the Summary or Settings tab (depends on shuffle model).  There should be a Restore button.  Click it to erase the shuffle, re-install its software, and set it to default settings.
When it start up and connects to iTunes, decline to do anything that syncs music to the shuffle.  The new owner should be invited by iTunes on their computer to sync the shuffle to their computer's iTunes library, the first time it is connected.
