IPod shuffle wont load at all

Hi!
My sister in law got an iPod shuffle that wont work on either hers or mine computer. When I plug it in it will say it needs to be formatted. I answered "yes" just to see what happened and now the iPod wont show up in "My Computer". It just says "Removable disk"(The first time it came up as iPod shuffle in My Computer...just the first time) and will not be open. It will not be recognized in iTunes either...
Is it a software I can download to fix it?

I'm using the most recent version of iTunes (9.0.2 (25)).
Just one of the USB ports in the side of my MacBook.
No, I didn't know that. I have my iPod set to manual synch so I figured this must have a similar setting. I'm only looking at it as a favour.

Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Power off and then back on the router
- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
- iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
- iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
- Restore from backup. See:

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
- Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

Ipod shuffle wont transfer songs

my sister has an ipod shuffle and has purchased all of her music on my macbook. well she just got her own computer (windows) and we are having issues getting her songs onto the windows computer. all the songs from the mac are on the ipod and when i connect it to the windows it asks to transfer purchases or erase and sync. i remember when i was transferring her purchases from my account on my mac to her own account that i had to select transfer purchases to get them into the library and then sync up with the library. so i select transfer purchases and it wont do anything the songs are there but i cant do anything with them. so i go up to file and select transfer purchases from that menu and it will only transfer 81 out of the 131 on the ipod. i have tried a number of different things and cant seem to figure it out. if anyone has any advice i would appreciate it. i have an appointment at the ipod bar at my local apple store but im not sure if they will be able to help me or not.

Are ALL 131 purchased songs? Reason I ask is that ONLY purchased songs are

Recently downloaded new iTunes. Now I can't get my 3rd generation iPod shuffle to load songs in order. Never had trouble with the old iTunes format.

I love the new version of Grid view but some of the other changes feel like they still need some fine tuning. And I miss cover flow even if I didn't use it that often...
You can restore much of the look & feel of the previous version with these shortcuts:
Ctrl-B to turn on the menu bar.
Ctrl-S to turn on the sidebar (your device should be listed here as before).
Ctrl-/ to turn on the status bar.
Click the magnifying glass top right and untick Search Entire Library to restore the old search behaviour.
Use View > Hide <Media Kind> in the cloud or Edit > Preferences > Store and untick Show iTunes in the cloud purchases to hide the cloud items. The second method eliminates the cloud status column (but perhaps it does more)
If you want to roll back to iTunes 10.7 first download a copy of the 32 bit installer or 64 bit installer as appropriate, uninstall iTunes and suppporting software, i.e. Apple Application Support & Apple Mobile Device Support. Reboot. Restore the pre-upgrade version of your library database as per the diagram below, then install iTunes 10.7.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to scan the media folder and catch up with any changes made since the backup file was created.

First off, I would STRONGLY suggest that a external hard drive would make you life much easier by at least being able to back up your songs on the external drive for when you need them. Even if you don't want them in the iTunes library, you can have them all ready on the external to be re-added as needed. You can get 100's of gigs for under $100 shipped.
Anyway, since you used Yamipod, are all the songs back on the computer? If so, I would go ahead and restore the iPod, let iTunes then resync everything back to the iPod, then switch it back to manual and see if the restore and resync clears up the issue.

- See if placing the iPod in Recovery mode will allow a restore.
- If not successful and you can't turn the iPod fully off (that is required to place in recovery mode), then let the battery fully drain. After charging for at least an hour try the reset, restore again
- Then time for an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apples store.

How long have you left it to charge? It could take up to 30 minutes for the iPod to show any signs of life, and sometimes a hard reset of the iPod is still required to get it to boot up. Here are instructions for rebooting the iPod Shuffle.

This isnt an answer, more of declaration of another victim. I have downloaded the newest iTunes version and reset the Shuffle to factory settings (a couple of times now). I can see the song listed in the Shuffle's listing on my screen, I can see the memory drop to acommodate the song but the pod passes over it every time I try to play it. Its very frustrating and I have since downloaded a different song, that has loaded onto the shuffle ok and plays as pernormal. I then decided to re-download the offending song and the same result...shuffle doesnt wanna know.
The damnedest thing is, that that song plays fine from my laptop....
Anyways, just thought you outght to know youre not alone.

Recently my iPod Shuffle decided to die and stop working. The battery check button doesnt work (no LED lights up) and it simply wont turn on and play any music.
The most ironic thing is that, when plugged in my PC, Windows XP recognises it. I can see it in My Computer as a Drive, and can put stuff on it like a normal USB drive.
Not only this, but when iTunes is opened (or auto-opens in some cases), it also recognises my iPod Shuffle with all the songs i have on it.
This is the case with all 3 computers ive tried it with: my laptop, my normal PC and my pc at work.
the iPod Shuffle has the latest update and i've restored it numerous times. (yes i restarted the PC before "restoring the iPod Shuffle on all 3 PCs.) Also i have charged the battery (left it in PC for 6hrs) and it hasnt fixed anything. Ive charged it at home and at work.
I cannot figure out what is wrong!
-itunes sees it (with all the songs)
-after restoring it, itunes is able to load songs onto it
-windows sees it as a drive in My Computer
-windows detects it when plugged into PC.
I also had an iPod 4G 20gig that died on me about 2 months ago..
I love my Apple products but when they casue problems i dont like it Can someone help me? I Have also read and followed all the FAQ/articles about the iPod Shuffle in the Support section...and that hasnt helped
BTW: I am still covered under the One Year Warranty. But it seems Apple doesnt warranty iPod Shuffles? AS they expect it not to have so much problems as the iPod (Hard Drive)? I am not sure what to do, and if i was to warranty it i dont know how to approach it!

Since, the iPod shuffle is not charging it needs to be serviced.
