IPod skipping over cd imported songs?

First real problem I have had with my iPod video since buying it in December. After I hooked it up to my work computer's iTunes(I normally use my home computer), iTunes(on work computer) indicated that it would only playback the songs I had purchased on iTunes. Now when I listen to my iPod, it skips over every song I imported from CD, and only plays until it reaches something I bought from iTunes. I have looked for settings to change, but I have found none. Does anyone possibly have any suggestions? Thanks!

That's really wierd.
First off, right click on a song you imported, and Get Info. Paste all the info here.

  • Batt went dead, recharge. Now ipod skips over only itunes songs

Hello and thanks for taking the time to read my problem. My laptop has now had multiple hard drive crashes. 4 to be exact. This last time around I have not downloaded itunes again. My ipod had all my previously purchased music on it as well as copied from CD's. Well the ipod sat for a while and the battery went dead. I recharged the battery and the ipod skips over the itunes songs but not those copied from CD's. Can this be fixed?
I don't want to download itunes and reconnect the ipod because the ipod is already on 4 different hard drives(that no longer exist). I would prefer a different media player than itunes. Any compatible with ipod?
    Thanks.

Authorize your iTunes then sync the iPod.

    Would you explain?
iPods are not on or linked to hard drives in anyway.

If you have DRM protected songs, no.

When you connect the phone to your computer, you can select the music you want to sync, all music, just selected playlists, just selected artists or genres.  See this: Overview of syncing iPhone, iPad or iPod touch with your computer:  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1386

  • Ipod mini skips over downloaded itunes songs only

after downloading songs from itunes, the ipod mini skips over the songs after playing them 3 or 4 times

Make sure you have the newest version of iTunes and iPod Updater, and do a restore with the Updater and resync the songs via iTunes.
Generally skipping purchased songs are related to out of date software and updating and restoring or reputting them back on seems to help.

  • Ipod skips over songs

my ipod mini skips over songs when i select them to play. This doesnt happen all the time but it seems to happen about have way threw the battery life. I also have to press the selecdt button to turnn it on or else it wont come on.
    What should i do?

I had this problem with my ipod and it was annoying. I can help. Go to your I-Tunes and go to your ipod. Next click the ADVANCED button from your toollbar. The click de-authorize ipod then you will have to go through a bunch of steps like entering your password. Then after it is all done eject your ipod (hint:after you've clicked de-authorize/authorize ipod a window will pop up and you will have two choices i forget them but click the second one). After you are done your ipod will be fixed and ready to go! Its an annoying but fixable problem. Enjoy your ipod.

  • IPod skips over purchased music

I have a weird problem with my iPod, and I was hoping someone here could help me with it.
Every couple of weeks, my iPod goes through this weird stage. It will not play any of the songs I purchased from iTunes. I can click on them normally, but then it just skips over all of them instead of playing even one second. It plays all the songs from CDs and songs I had on my computer before just fine, but NONE of the songs I've purchased from iTunes.
Another weird part is that whenever I hook the iPod up to the computer, the problem goes away. But this doesn't help much, because I'm going to be away from my computer for most of the summer, and I would like a working iPod. Most of my files are from iTunes, too.
I know this is a really weird problem...I couldn't find anything on the apple FAQ, etc, so I'm sure it's not common. If anyone could help me with it, though, I would reallllllly appreciate it. Can anyone tell me why it does this, or (most importantly!!!!!!!) how to prevent it?

  • IPod skips over tracks

I have an iPod mini that contains a playlist with 17 tracks. Tracks 1-14 play just fine but when it gets to track 15 it skips over it, then it skips tracks 16 and 17 as well and starts playing track 1 again.
I tried importing the playlist into my 5th generation iPod - same problem.
Tracks 15-17 will play in iTunes, however.
I don't know why these tracks won't play. I did alter tempi in these three tracks using Pro Tools - I suspect this has something to do with it but I need these tracks to play on the iPod mini. Any advice?

Try here: iPod does not play content purchased from the iTMS.

  • Ipod skips 4-5 random songs after each sync

I bought my first ipod last thursday and i have had numerous problems starting from the moment itunes attempted to import my existing music library. I have fixed most of the problems myself, but there still two that have me stumped.
    1) After i sync my ipod, there always seems to be a handful of songs that when they come up in a playlist, my ipod will wait a few seconds before skipping the song without playing. I say the songs are random because after i sync it again, the songs that wouldn't play before will work, but a different couple of songs (that worked before) won't play and get skipped. Yes, i already tried the 5 R's and the problem persists.
    2) Twice now, after i pause my ipod and press play again after a few minutes, it will refuse to play any songs at all. It will just skip through them all, much like the first problem. I can get it to play songs again with a reset, but if its going to do this twice a week, i need to find a more permanent solution.
I did restore my ipod last night and problem #1 still occurred. I have no idea yet about #2, but if anyone else has experienced these problems, help would be extremely appreciated!!

Anyone want to help at all? This is getting a little ridiculous. Honestly, with all the problems I've been having, especially with itunes, I really don't think I'm ever going to buy an apple product again.

  • An older style Ipod has over 10,000 songs on it.  The original computer that contained these songs on itunes has since been replaced.  Can itunes/match get the songs from this ipod to store in match and then put on new computer/itunes?

Can this new service of itunes/match allow you to retrieve songs from an older style ipod, store them in match, and then download them onto a new computer/itunes?  The original computer that contained these songs has since been replaced b/c it broke down.  There were alot of songs on there and now I can't get the songs onto my new computer.  Can match work from ipod > match > computer?

Only if it is an iPod touch that you can turn on iTunes Match.

Did you make a backup of all the  important files on this computer before it broke down?
    Try this -> http://www.yamipod.com/main/modules/home/
Then backup your computer after you recover the items.

  • IPod skipping through all my songs, can't play.

When I start it up, and go to a song, it skips it and keeps going through the list until it's at the last song and it goes back to the main menu. I've tried resetting it, and nothing helps. Has anyone else had this problem????

Let the songs skip until your iPod dies or hook it up to your PC

  • IPod skips over iTunes purchased music

    Hi all
I am having a really annoying issue with my iPods - I have a 20Gb 4th gen and a 60Gb iPod video, both were plugged into the same music library and now neither will play any music I have purchased through iTunes - all other music is fine. I have tried the recommended 5r's numerous times with no success and I have run out of ideas.
    Can anyone help me please?
    Thanks

    Try this test:
    1. Deauthorize the computer.
    2. Create a new user in the system.
    3. Download the free song of the week from the iTMS in the new user account.
    4. Play the song in that user account to authorize again.
    5. Restore the iPod (using the iPod updater) in the new user account.
    6. Sync just the free song of the week and see if it plays on the iPod.
If it does, you appear to have a corrupted iTunes library file, and you should recreate the iTunes library file in your normal user account, and then sync your music back to the iPod and all should be well.

  • Trying to fix my sons Ipod before Christmas- it skips over downloaded songs

I have two questions, but if you can answer the first... I will get the second one later.
My son's Ipod skips over songs that are downloaded from Itunes... they show up on the playlist and also on the Ipod- but play for one second (actually just show up on the display) and then move on... what's up?
#2 Question. We have paid for and downloaded songs from Itunes... and some, but not all... will not let us play them.... says something to the effect that we are not authorized...
    Please help.

  • Ipod not syncing correctly and songs skipping on ipod but not itunes/wmp

My old ipod was having this same issue(so I presumed it was broken) and I wanted to get a new one as the old one was an 8 gig and didnt really have enough size for me so I bought a new 32 gig ipod. Unfortunately this new one is having the exact same problem and I cannot figure out why. I've tried uninstalling itunes and all the other apple programs and reinstalled them all and I've tried converting the songs to AAC but these have had no effect.
The songs play perfectly in both itunes and windows media player it's just when they transfer over to the ipod the problems start. Usually what happens is the song plays for xx seconds then the sound stops but the song continues playing on the ipod if I leave it alone the ipod skips to the next song but if I force it to speed up eventually the song kicks in again but at a different point. Other times the song will play out of sequence and will sound completely disjointed.
Another problem that keeps cropping is when trying to sync the ipod it will get about half way and randomly cut out on one song telling me it's corrupt but it's always a different song and will happily skip over previous songs that caused a problem when I run it again.
I would import all the music again but I don't have access to the CDs as I am out of the country for a year, I didn't buy any of the songs through itunes so can't re-download them either.
I am running vista 64 bit but I used the 64 bit installer so I'm not sure if that would really cause any problems or not and yes I made sure the ipod is up to date and I have tried resetting it numerous times.

It's hard to say without a lot more information; Here's a sample of things that would need to be answered in order to really determine the cause:
*Age of the computer and/or hard drive
    *What application(s) are installed
What updates occurred or new applications were installed before the issues started popping up
    *Whether files/folders have been deleted
About the only one that really matters for you now is the age of your hard drive. Most hard drives last for 3~5 years, and the hard drives on the newest iBooks (from 2005) would be nearing that 4-year mark. If you've never had your hard drive replaced, there is the possibility that the hard drive is failing. Hard drive failures can result in software corruption--which would be the issues you're seeing.
What you want to do from now on is make sure you have all your important data backed up (and all installation CDs/DVDs accounted for, just in case) and monitor the machine. If the odd behaviors return, we may have to do more troubleshooting.
    Good luck!
