IPod skips two tracks?

I've noticed sometimes my new 60gb video skips two tracks when pressing next track. I haven't noticed any consistency to this (it'll happen maybe once every 20 times I press next track), and the track skipped will always play if I go back one.
I've tried disabling album art (since all my music has it), but this doesn't make a difference.
Could this be a button issue, or have other people been experiencing this?

I just want to bump this thread with a ditto and expand on it by saying that my iPod is merrily skipping up to six tracks into an album and freezing too.
I've noticed other threads making reference to the fact that the click wheel is misaligned in the casing on 5G iPods, mine appears to have moved over from the left (rewind) and leans to the right (fast forward) and I'm wondering whether the two issues could be related.

  • Ipod skips multiple tracks and sometimes freezes

I've had my 60 gig ipod video for about 3 weeks and after being initially impressed I find myself using my 60 gig photo more often. The problem with the video is that almost always when playing from a playlist or album the first 4,5, or 6 songs get skipped and after about a 30 second pause the ipod begins playing track 6. When watching a video, fast-forwarding within the same movie works as expected, but when I try to exit to the menu and play a different video the ipod acts real sluggish and occasionally freezes and only a "soft reset" (menu + select) will save me. Likewise when moving backwards in tracks, say from 6 to track 2 the ipod will move to track 2 but before playing will then skip ahead to track 8, 9 or 10.
I've owned almost every model since the 3 gen and these mp3/aac files have played perfect on all other models. The ipod is nearly full, with over 50 gigs of videos, music, and photos. If you were to ask my opinion, I would say it was due to buggy software or just poor hardware performance. I've tried reformating from hfs to fat32 and the problem still occurs.
Some things to mention is that my ipod is configured for manual song management. It also works as expected when plugged in via usb as I can play songs on the ipod on my computer with no skipping. Anyone else experiencing any performance issues? Or do I just have to exchange my defective ipod?

Navigating through videos is slow. It seems that when I start the movie, the HDD starts spinning and loading data into memory, and until it is done spinning, I cannot get out of that video. I've read others have the same problem.
As far as skipping songs go, do your songs have lyrics? If so, that's another issue we're aware of.

  • Ipod skipping AAC tracks

I rebuilt my PC recently and reimported the iTunes library once the new disk was installed. The machine needed to be reauthorised (double click on a track from the Music Store). This done I reintroduced my ipod to the PC. Once the ipod was re-sync'd all the songs play fine apart from the tracks from Music Store. These songs skip straight through without playing. I took the ipod to the store in NY and they replaced the unit with a new one. After reloading the library onto the ipod I still have the problem. The odd thing is that switching the update to manual and playing the same tracks directly off the ipod's disk works fine. Anyone got any thoughts...?

iPod does not play content purchased from the iTMS.
If you have made sure that both the iTunes and iPod software are current and have deauthorized and reauthorized your computer, try this test:
    1. Deauthorize the computer.
    2. Create a new user in the system.
    3. Download the free song of the week from the iTMS in the new user account.
    4. Play the song in that user account to authorize again.
    5. Restore the iPod (using the iPod updater) in the new user account.
    6. Sync just the free song of the week and see if it plays on the iPod.
If it does, you appear to have a corrupted iTunes library file, and you should recreate the iTunes library file in your normal user account, and then sync your music back to the iPod and all should be well.

  • IPod skips over tracks

I have an iPod mini that contains a playlist with 17 tracks. Tracks 1-14 play just fine but when it gets to track 15 it skips over it, then it skips tracks 16 and 17 as well and starts playing track 1 again.
I tried importing the playlist into my 5th generation iPod - same problem.
Tracks 15-17 will play in iTunes, however.
I don't know why these tracks won't play. I did alter tempi in these three tracks using Pro Tools - I suspect this has something to do with it but I need these tracks to play on the iPod mini. Any advice?

  • How do I sync two ipods with two different IDs on the same computer?

How do I sync two ipods with two different IDs on the same computer?

Simply connect them.  One computer with one iTunes can manage multiple devices.  They're tracked by S/N but you might wish to assign them unique names so that you can track them yourself.
The only minor issue is app updating and purchases while on the computer.  It's necessary to log out and back in to the "correct" ID.  Much easier to do these things from the iPods.

  • Two Track Video Recorded

I have an iChat recorded by two tracks (both users on each side of each other) in the video. Since the movie is two tracks instead of one (video & audio), when I upload it to YouTube, it just shows one user. Same in iMovie, although both sides appear in the timeline, when my mouse moves over my side, it still plays the other persons.

do I have any of the others?)
Hard for me to tell from here. Surely you would now if you paid $30 for QT Pro or went to the trouble of downloading MPEG Streamclip from Square-5 (even if it was free).
How would I do it with GarageBand?
In any case, to convert in GarageBand, create or open a Podcast project and drop the source file to the work area. Get rid of any unwanted tracks that may be left over from your old/new podcast project. Make sure the "end" point for the project is aligned with the drop-imported content you just added. Now select the "Export Movie to Disk..." Share menu option. Select the "Expert" setting, press the "Export" button, and wait for the real "Export" window to open. When it does, select the process you ant to use. You can use "Movie to MPEG-4, DV Stream, TV, iPod, iPhone, or QuickTime" options. If you know little or nothing about conversion settings, you may want to use either the TV, iPod, or iPhone pre-set option. All other options require additional user settings.

  • 80Gb iPod skips to next audiobook

This problem has to be one of the most aggravating bugs in a product I've ever dealt with and I've been living with this since day one.
I use my iPod to listen to books on my way to/from work. Most audiobooks I have will initially pick up where I last left off, but before it starts to actually play any audio, it will suddenly skip to the next "file". I use the word "file" because some books are all one big file that may be several hours long, and others may be individual chapters and still others may be groups of chapters. When this happens, I have to go up a menu, select the book I was listening to and hit play. This starts the book over and I have to fast forward to the point where I left off.
This can happen whether I listen to it on the way to work and pause it while I go to work then 9 hours later hit play to listen on the way home, or if I hit pause to fill up the gas tank and then get back in a few minutes later. It even happens if I hit pause for just a minute or so and come back to it.
But it never happens all the time. It's intermittent, so I never know when I'm going to be driven up this particular wall! According to the Apple website, my iPod's still under warranty, but I'm not eligible to call and talk with anyone about it, and Apple doesn't seem to have an ability to email their support to ask them a question so there seems to be no way for Apple to tell me if they're aware of the bug and are working on a fix!!!
I did restored the iPod which didn't help and I'm on software version 1.3 on the iPod.
Before I throw this thing against a wall, can someone offer me some help?
    Thanks.
    Robert

Thanks for the feedback, but this didn't solve my issue. First, I unsync'd all but 9 of my books (they happened to be similar topics) and my iPod skipped. Then I unsync'd 7 of those, leaving me with only 2 books on my iPod. The first one didn't skip at all ... feeling pretty good ... but alas, the second book has "skipped".
Now when I say skip, how can the second book of 2 actually skip to the next book like my original post? Well, it didn't actually skip, it just jumped to the main menu. Everything else from my original post is exactly the same, just that since there wasn't another book in line to skip to, it just stopped playing and jumped to the main menu.
To be clear also, it sounds like you may be telling me to create a playlist of a few songs. I didn't create a playlist, I just unsync'd all but two of my books and am playing them from the "audiobooks" folder. Do you feel like I need to actaully create a playlist (assuming I'm understanding you properly)?
    Thanks again.

  • IPod plays wrong track

    Hey!
I have searched but not found this problem. My IPod Nano will not play the right tracks. I press one track but it displays and plays another.
Yes, I have cleaned, reset, restored and updated iPod and iTunes.
I have an iPod Nano 4th gen and a MacBook Pro. I have these two as stand alone music making kit. I have few songs in iTunes appx 50.
Catch?! I use Logic to make a new track and I bounce it directly to iTunes.
I sync my iPod. New Track appears in my iPod. I press play and it shows ANOTHER TRACK and plays that other track!
I seems to work fine within iTunes. Bouncing tracks from Logic to iTunes makes appear and play correctly.

My wife and i have the same problem, each on different ipods and with different computers. We can't use your 'AAC' solution as the files are protected. The files/tracks--in this case audiobooks--play fine in iTunes and my music and podcasts have never had a problem. I've restored, upgraded, and I now even have a new Airbook running 10.6.1 and iTunes 9.0.2. The tracks/books play fine if they are loaded by themselves--even the different 'parts' of each book plays ok--but as soon as another book is loaded on the track I click on to play is not the one that ends up playing. Any suggestions out there?

  • Ipod skipping songs after a few seconds

I have been having problems with playing certain songs on my new 80GB ipod classic (all ripped from CDs, not purchased or downloaded).
The songs will skip to the next song after anything from right at the beginning of the song to 30 seconds in. If I go back, I can fast forward past the point it skips, and it will play to the end.
I have already tried deleting the songs from my library and re-importing, restoring my ipod with the latest software and checking that the stop time on the song is correct. Does anyone have any other suggestions for me?
    Thanks

I have a similar issue, the only difference being that when I fast forward it will not continue to play, only again, skip to the next song.
After some research I have found that the only thing that seems to work for me is to convert my files to MP3 using the "convert to MP3" function found in iTunes. All my songs are already in MP3, but the reason this works is due to the encoding. If the encoding is unknown, it seems more often than not my iPod will skip those tracks. When you convert it to mp3 using iTunes it changes the encoding to some kind of iTunes encoding.
This makes me VERY angry. There is no way I have found to sort the items by their encoding as to convert only the problematic ones. Also, when you convert it changes the bit rate to read what ever your rip settigs are. This ***** because I plan on reripping some of my CDs that I ripped years ago at a low bit rate. If I convert to MP3 I cannot search my library to see which ones were ripped at the lower rate.
It also creates a duplicate of the audio file, which means I will not have enough space on my hard drive to compensate for over 12000 duplicated at a higher or equivilant bit rate.

  • How do i stop itunes skipping the tracks

    could somebody help??
i have just bought a mac and when i play my albums through itunes it skips the track after about 20 secs of it playing

I have had a similar problem, but it was on  the ipod and it skipped after one second. Make sure you have imported the files from a good source- an incomplete download or a scratched CD could cause this problem. Does this happen with all your music?

*is there any way of transferring my music on my ipod to a cd to preseve it?*
If you have songs on the iPod that aren't on the computer you need to copy them back to iTunes to back them up to CD or DVD. If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod to a computer
The transfer of content from other sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:

There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide

  • Zen skips, corrupts tracks

Zen skips, corrupts tracks?I hope someone can help me with this. I've had my Zen (just the standard "Zen" model, 8gb) for about 4 years now, never had any problems with it, but the day before yesterday I was listening to it in shuffle mode and in a couple of tracks it sort of... blipped? Skipped? It's hard to describe but basically the songs were interrupted by a sort of watery skipping/jerking noise. I thought it was just a momentary thing, but then I went back and listened to the songs and the damage appears to be permanent, the tracks skip in exactly the same places all the time. Now this was only a couple of times with two songs, so I thought maybe the problem would go away, but then yesterday it happened again to the first song I played on a number of occasions. I stuck a pin in the little reset hole thinking that would help, but it seems to have made the problem worse because I listened to an album after that and basically the whole album is ruined because it does the blippy skippy thing at least once on every single song. And it is permanent (not a huge problem considering I back up most of my stuff but there are a few bits and pieces I haven't backed up that I will have to acquire once again, which will cost me money).
Is this a known issue for older Zens? I attempted a Google search but I wasn't quite sure what to search for and got a bunch of unrelated results. Does anyone know what the solution could be? Would a complete reformat help at all or is the thing totally screwed and ready to be replaced (because I'd really hate that)?
I should probably mention that I do listen to it on shuffle quite a lot. And by 'listen' I mean pretty much just skip through the tracks after about 4 seconds of listening to them. Is that healthy for an mp3 player?
I should also add that the version is apparently .03.04e, whatever that means and I am running Windows 7, though I doubt that has anything to do with it.
Thank you in advance for any suggestions

?I would recommend doing a Cleanup>Reboot(NOTHING ELSE) on the player.thru the Rescue/Recovery mode on the player. If that does not help then I would do a Format>Cleanup>Reboot thru the Rescue/Recovery mode?
How To Access Rescue/Recovery for your player : Press and hold the Play/Pause button while powering on your player.
When the player displays the Creative logo, release the Play button.
It will display the following options:
    Clean Up
Scans the player and removes invalid links from its music library.
Does not affect music files themselves.
    Format (All)
    Caution! Erases all content!
Save a copy of your player's content before formatting.
    Reload OS/ Firmware
    Caution! Erases your player's firmware.
DO NOT select the Reload Firmware option unless you have access to a PC and you have downloaded the necessary firmware to install.
    Reboot Reboots the device. ?

  • I have an iPhone 4S and my friend has two ipods with two Apple ID's.  Why can't he receive messages on "Message" on one and he uses a free text app on the other which receives messages from my phone just fine.

My friend has two ipods.  Two Apple ID's and on one ipod he has a free text app on it and only Message on the other.  He cannot receive a message from my iphone 4S on the one with Message, but receives it fine on the one with the free text app.
He can also receive a message from my iPad on the one with Message.
My question is how can he recieve a text from my iPhone to the ipod which has a different Apple ID than the other but does not have a free text app?
Also on the ipod he has the free text app he has not upgraded to ios7 and won't.

Are the use the correct email address for the contact? Those are listed in Settings>Messages>Send and Receive. When Messaging somene the iOS devices used the email address (or phone number if applicable) listed in the Contact app for that person.
Thus, it appears the you Contact apps only has that one email address listed for the person you are trying to Message.
If he can send you a Messages can you reply to it? If so save the sender to your Contact app.

  • How to use ONE IPod on TWO Computers

I have an Desktop-PC using ITunes 5.0 and an IPod 20 GB. When I connect my IPod with my Laptop, the complete IPod is deleting by the ITunes on the Laptop. How can I use ONE IPod on TWO Computers without deleting the music hole time?!

I think you need to manually update on at least the computer that has the smaller music selection.
it may be best to turn off automatic updates on both machines and manually add and delete songs.
or you could network both computers to share one music library
