IPod slideshow

Can anyone tell me how to access my nano's slideshow? I know there are pictures on it because they show up when the songs are playing.

You set it in the iPod options. You can get there from the preferences in iTunes and click on the iPod tab (your nano must be connected at the time). You can get to the same place by right clicking on the iPod name over in the source pane and picking options there. Either way, you set the photo sync there (it can be a folder, such as My Pictures, or you can pick specific pictures as well.)

  • Controlling the sequence of an iPod slideshow using Elements

I'm trying to control the order in which photos are shown in an iPod slideshow (that I'm displaying on a TV screen)
I've been asking how to do this in some iPod forums, and someone suggested (without many specifics) that I could somehow set it up in Elements and then export it to the iPod.
If you know how to do this or can point me to a post, article, etc that gives an explanation, I would really appreciate it! Otherwise, it's all trial and error.

Doesn't it just show files in filename order?

  • Sorting order of pictures from Aperture in an iPod slideshow

I've recently got a video iPod and have transferred all my photos to it from Aperture. I found that it was necessary to create an album for every project in my Aperture library in order for the projects to show up on the iPod.
Having got all my projects (as albums) listed on the iPod, I want to be able to view them as slideshows. However, there's been a 'scattering effect' in the sorting of all the pictures in each album: overall, they're broadly in the correct order, but many pictures have been scattered out of the order they're supposed to be in.
For example, in one particular album, which is of a two-day shoot, the pictures are broadly chronological on the iPod but many pictures are out of sequence. Sometimes they're displaced just a few positions from where they should be. Sometimes they're on completely the wrong day (e.g. a handful of day 1 shots are intermingled with the day 2 pictures). It's easy to see that the ordering is wrong by looking at the 5x5 album preview on the iPod, and of course the slideshow reflects that order.
My photos are all dated correctly (in terms of Mac datestamp and EXIF image data), and they're named sequentially (in the form "### image name.jpg", where ### is a three-digit number starting from 001). In Aperture, the pictures are set to be ordered by filename, and they do appear in the right order there, but once they've made it across to the iPod they're out of sequence. I can't see any reason for the new iPod ordering: it seems entirely arbitrary, yet it's the same after every synch, and it doesn't correspond to any setting I can make in Aperture as far as I can see.
My iPod's date setting is correct and the 'shuffle slideshow' option is turned off. (Though I don't think that either fact is relevant - especially not 'shuffle', as the pictures are clearly in the wrong order in the album previews and the slideshow just reflects that ordering.)
I want and need my pictures to be in their correct numerical/chronological sequence. If they're in the wrong order, the slideshow facility is completely useless. I've seen similar questions asked by other users on this forum, but none has yet received a satisfactory answer.
Someone, please put me out of my misery and tell me how to make this work as it should!

Thanks a lot for the answer. But what an absolute pain in the nether regions! The situation as it stands is totally unacceptable, and I really didn't want to have to mess about with iPhoto any more. I bought Aperture to replace iPhoto, not to act as a back-end to it.
I sincerely hope that Apple will address this issue, and soon. The combination of Aperture and iPod is frankly not fit for purpose. And when you consider that the 'free' software equivalent (iPhoto plus iPod) is just fine, you start to feel a little ripped off.
By the way, David, it's a small world! You know that church just across the road from David Brown? My father's been organist there for about 40 years. And my uncle worked in David Brown's in Meltham (though it's been demolished for years, now). I live only about a mile away from where you used to work.

  • Photo ipod slideshow

Can someone tell me if I can use my ipod that has photos on it to create a slide show by just hooking the ipod to a projector so I don't have to use the computer. If so will the resolution be good? Also, I seem to recall that it is necessary, when transferring photos to the ipod, to indicate full resolution or you just get a thumbnail. Where is this setting found in Preferences? Perhaps the thumbnail will not be a good image in the slide show?
I need to show a slideshow and I would rather not use the computer if possible.
    Any thoughts on this?

Thank you for the referral. I am aware of this option. I was looking for a way to simplify in some instances by eliminating the use of the computer with the projector and just using the ipod with the projector. It may be that the resolution would not be good.
I may have to approach from the other angle and find out if the projector is compatible with the ipod.
I have not had the time to read up on it and thought someone else may have tried it if it is an option.

  • IPod slideshow limitations?

I have an iPod video 30 GB.
I have only 1500 photos that I wish to use, but the Slideshow does not seem to "dip" into the pool past a certain point. Is there a known limit to the number of items from which it will select, or is there a way to set that limit higher? Many thanks.

  • IPod slideshow does not recognize portrait

My 5th Generation iPod 1.2.1 (Updater 2006-06-28) with iTunes 6.0.5 cannot recognize EXIF tags for portrait photos that is displayed properly in PhotoShop Elements 3.0.1. So when I sync a collection to iPod, the display on iPod or TV shows it sideways. Is there anyway around it besides rotating all my images manually? Thanks.

  • Ipod slideshow problem

I have been playing my entire photo album of 2,849 photos ony my TV via the Apple ipod AV Cable. My problem is after exactly 1,302 photos the pictures stop tranisitioning even thouhg the music continues to play. Does anyone know of a 1,302 photo limit? Also at 3 seconds per slide it stops at 1 hour and 48 minutes. Unusual issue and I can't find any help. If anyone can help me I would appreciate it.
    Thank you

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. You've posted in the wrong forum. This is the iPhoto forum, a Mac only application. You need to post in the iPod Video for Windows forum. Good luck.

  • Can't import music to automatically match slideshows in iPod

I've got a vidio iPod and have loaded playlists and photo albums. The Photos>Music>From iPhoto option doesn't seem to work for me. I guess I don't know how to assign music to the albums in iPhoto. I can set up & save slideshows in iPhoto, but then slideshows don't show as an import option in the iPod dialog. I can import the original album I made the slideshow from, but that doesn't seem to tie the music to it on iPod. I've even made sure that the playlist that I used is imported from iTunes. I know that I can always select the playlist to go with the album display, but it seems that the "From iPhoto" setting should take care of it automatically. Am I missing an iPod preference setting that would allow me to import slideshows with linked music?
I'm using the latest version of iPhoto ('06 update) and iTunes. This is cross application, so I'll be posting this in iPhoto and iTunes also. Maybe I'm missing a setting in one of those apps.
Posted here because iTunes app doesn't allow me to automatically sync slideshows from the photo section of the iPod preferences pane.

I found the solution. I was setting up new slideshows from my albums in iPhoto using the buttons across the bottom of the window. iPod doesn't recognize the slideshows for transfer. To assign music, you must set up a "temporary" sideshow for your albums. The options can be saved, but they remain albums and are transferable with music (as long as the music/playlist assigned is included in the music transfer preference pane also).
To do this, select your album and use the "Play" button that is on the bottom of the window (you may have to expand the bottom control bar to see the play button). This will bring up options that allow you to select music for the album. Make sure to save settings and then update the photo album in the iPod transfer menu from the iTunes application. Now when you select use music from iPhoto in the iPod Slideshow settings, you will always hear the music you selected for that album.
Cool feature, but not explained well - I got sidetracked in iPhoto by thinking you had to set up "official" slideshows.

  • High-res photo slideshow

Got an iPod photo for Christmas and just created a slideshow of 200 pics that plays on my TV. FANTASTIC! Love it, love it, love it.
But now I'm getting ambitious, the picture quality isn't as fabulous as it could be.
In this article - http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=300251 on iPod slideshows on TV, it suggests the following for improved quality:
Connect a S-video cable to the S-video out port on the iPod photo dock. This connection provides the video signal.
Connect the other end of the S-video cable to the S-video input on the television.
Connect the AV cable to the line out port on the iPod photo dock. This connection provides the audio signal.
No dock of any kind came with my top of the range iPod. I've got the Bose sound system which acts like a dock, but bought an AV cable because I didn't have a 'universal dock'.
My question is this: Can anyone out there tell me if I can use the Bose dock with an S-video cable somehow or is the iPod photo dock something else again?
    Thanks
I'm so pleased my my iPod, although a bit miffed that I bought iLife 05 just a few months ago and now am expected to pay again for iLife 06. Apple always put the squeeze on don't they? But can't deny they're the coolest products!

Just a thought... (I only have FCE 2.0.3, so I can't try this out, and iMovie HD isn't enabling the option to create an empty project in HDV.)
Can you create a new project in 1080i and import your photos into that project? That will result in much crisper video than 720x480.

  • Audio on airplay

I have a 2011 iMac and an 2011 MacBook Air.  I've had no issues since upgrading to Mountain Lion and using Airplay to my 1080p Apple TV.  However, on the iMac, the Video streams nicely but often the sound stays at the local device and doesn't AirPlay to the Apple TV.   Anyone else had this issue or know how to resolve it?

To update my question. I think there is no way to do what I was trying--picture and audio over Airplay to TV directly from an iPod slideshow. What I found to work, was converting the slideshow into movie format (m4v). Then Airplay transmitted the movie with audio and video to the TV. Guess that's the only way.

  • 4thGen Ipod Touch won't play photo slideshow or videos to TV - sound is ok

I can only get sound through the tv - no slideshow photos or video. connection is through a new Apple dock and an apple composite cable. I have checked the tv setting is correct and that the cable etc is not faulty using my old ipod classic, which plays both perfectly. I have set TV Out to Widescreen and PAL (I am in Australia) and gone through the online and hard copy users guides. Help! And thanks in advance.
