IPod software 1.1.3 Download?

I plugged in my Nano (2nd gen) and received the message; "A new iPod software version (1.1.3) is available for the iPod "-my iPod-". Would you like to download and install it now?"
My options are, [Cancel], [Download and Install], and [Download Only].
I selected [Download Only]. It downloaded the software, so I assume. I went through the disconnect proceedure, knowing I haven't upgraded anything yet. I came back later to actually UPGRADE without having to download it again and I get the SAME message;
"A new iPod software version (1.1.3) is available for the iPod "-my iPod-". Would you like to download and install it now?"
Where does iTunes store this download and what filename is it and WHY is it insisting I download it AGAIN? I'm still using 1.1.1 trying to get to 1.1.3. If this post sounds like it's coming from someone on dial-up, you would be correct.

I found the same thing: With the new software for both iTunes and the iPod Touch the sync problem is worse. Used to be that when I would sync a smart play list would be jumbled unless I turned off live updating. Now the smart play list just plain cannot be found on the iPod Touch. Turn off live updating and it does show up.
Furthermore, when I started my computer this morning with the iPod connected iTunes crashed with a spinning pinwheel TWICE. I disconnected the iPod, relaunched iTunes, and it worked okay. These "upgrades" are most certainly DOWNgrades.

  • How do I update original ipod software so i can download apps

I have a 2007 ipod touch (1st generation), with software version 1.1.5. When I sync my ipod to my mac and click update software it does not go past 1.1.5. I would like to be able to install apps on this ipod and I am thinking I need to update to do that. What do I need to do?

  • I cant download ipod software

I have an old ipod updater 2004 11 15. I cant update it because every time i go through the download, right at the end it says 'Error reading setup initialization file'! What does this mean? How do i fix it? If you know please explain it really simply because i am not very good at these things. (My hard drive on my ipod failed so i have a knew ipod but i cant connect it to my computer until i have the latest version).

I just updated to iTunes 5 and received a prompt to update my iPod software also. I downloaded and saved the .exe. file to my desktop and when I click it I get the "error cannot initialize" message. I have tried downloading 5 or 6 times and always get the same response. I tried updating Windows, but it was already up-to-date. I updated my Windows Installer program. I cleaned out my temp file. Any ideas? I have Windows 2000. Would upgrading to XP help? I already have the disks and could do that. Additionally, now when I update my iPod, iTunes tells me it can't copy all my songs because of the iPod software not being updated! Help!

  • Ipod Software License...

I currently have an ipod Photo and am looking to sell it and upgrade to the new ipod video but I have a concern about the ipod software license that comes with the ipod. Do I have to do anything to transfer the license over to the person who I sell the ipod too, or can I just gather everything the ipod came with and sell it, and they can just use the same disk that I used to set up the ipod...?
    Thanks for your help!
      Mac OS X (10.3)

You can just sell it and the accessories. The new owner can use the software installation disk, but would be much better advised to download the latest iTunes and iPod software from the Apple download page. They contain newer versions than those on the cd.
    No need to transfer anything.

  • Old iPod Software?

I recently updated my iTunes software to 5.0.1. Now when I try to copy songs to my iPod, it says that songs purchased from the Apple Music Store can't be copied because my iPod software is too "old."
But, the iPod software updater that I downloaded from Apple's website runs a preinstall check and concludes that no update is necessary.
    Huh?
    J.M.

Chandra, the next thing I'd try would be to restore your iPod using the latest iPod Updater, then re-sync with iTunes.

  • Can't install itunes or ipod software from apple site.

i have been having this problem for a long time now. Everytime that itunes prompts me that there is a new version of either itunes or my ipod software, i decide to download it and i am sent to the apple download site. and then everytime that i click on the link that says "download here" it goes to the download site and nothing happens. no downloads and the page never loads completely. internet explorer displays an error that says "error on page" and says that there is an error with the page that might cause it to not load correctly.
does apple use some script on there site that my ie settings are blocking?
this is getting pretty annoying and my itunes and ipod are getting pretty out of date.

Go to Microsoft website to fix install and Unistall problems. Click "Run now" from Fix it to remove all iTunes & related installer files:
    http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall
Be aware that Windows Installer CleanUp Utility will not remove the actual program from your computer. However, it will remove the installation files so that you can start the installation, upgrade, or uninstall over.

  • I try to download an app, but it says I need a new version of iPod software, yet I have the latest version.

I've had this issue a couple times now. I have a iPod touch. It is a couple years old, but still new enough to have dual cameras. There have been a couple apps I've tried to load, and it tells me I need a new version of iPod software. I go to the iPod software version screen, and it tells me I have the latest version available.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you,
    Kurt

See if you can download the last compatible version by:
Starting when iOS 7 was released, Apple now allows downloading the last compatible version of some apps (iOS 4.2.1 and later only)
App Store: Downloading Older Versions of Apps on iOS - Apple Club
App Store: Install the latest compatible version of an app
You first have to download the non-compatible version on your computer. Then when you try to purchase the version on your iPod you will be offered a compatible version if one exists.
If not successful then you need a newer model iPod if you want to use that app

  • Problem downloading iPod Software / Network connection could not be made

I am trying to upgrade to version 1.2.1 of the iPod software. I am using version 7.0.2 of iTunes. Whenever I connect my iPod it indicates that there is a newer version of the iPod software. Whenever I try "download and install" or "download only", I get the following error message: "There was a problem downloading the iPod software for the iPod 'My iPod'. The network connection could not be made.".
I am able to get on the internet in my browser and I am able to get to the iTunes store just fine.
I checked the solution at: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=304468, but this article isn't the same error message as the one that I am getting. Note: I did try the solution stated in this article and it didn't help.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated!

    1. Purchased category is only for media, I think.
    2. Applications is for Mac OS X applications only.

  • Restore error message: "There was a problem downloading the iPod software"

I am trying to restore my iPod and keep getting this message when I try: "There was a problem downloading the iPod software for the iPod "iPod". The requested resource was not found." HELP! What do I do next???
      Windows XP

    Hi BigIRv,
Actually, a "requested resource" error message (which I believe you are getting) most of the time has to do with iTunes having a problem with connecting to your iPod, rather than the iPod software update server (although a more rare possibility of this error message could occur in that sense).
See my post here, which contains a couple of things to try if you have that error message:

I need to update my software in order to download the new version of iTunes in order to put songs on my new iPod. But my software doesn't need updating..or so my computer says. What should I do??

If your iMac has a PowerPC processor, Leopard OS 10.5.x is the max OS. If your iMac has an Intel processor, it can run Snow Leopard OS 10.6.x or possibly higher.
Once we know your iMac model, we can better recommend what OS X version.

My Ipod touch plays music but every time I open an app that I have downloaded it closes immediately.  This started happening after updating to the latest version of Ipod software.

Here's a couple things to try:
    1. Reset the iPod by holding the sleep/wake button and home button at the same time for 10-15 seconds until the Apple logo appears on the screen.
    2. Uninstall and reinstall one of your purchased apps. Sometimes this can rectify the issue.
    3. Connect the iPod to iTunes and restore it. New system software usually resolves the issue. Make sure you sync before restoring because a restore removes the data from your iPod.
Hope one of these works for you!

  • Problem downloading iPod software...

I need to restore my iPod, as it is not working properly. When I connect to iTunes (the latest version), the Restore screen comes up because right away it says that my iPod has become corrupt and needs to be restored...
...so, I click the "Restore" button, and I get the following error:
There was a problem downloading the iPod software for the iPod "iPod". The requested resource was not found.
    Any ideas???...

    ok guys heres your solution
To reset your 5th generation iPod with video:
Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
Press and hold the Menu and Select buttons until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 10 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.
Tip: If you are having difficulty resetting your iPod, set it on a flat surface. Make sure the finger pressing the Select button is not touching any part of the click wheel. Also make sure that you are pressing the Menu button toward the outside of the click wheel, and not near the center.
If the above steps did not work, try connecting iPod to a power adapter and plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet, or connect iPod to your computer. Make sure the computer is turned on and isn't set to go to sleep
if you dont have an ipod video then go here

    Maybe:

Troubleshoot your USB connection. If the issue persists, out-of-date or incorrectly configured third-party security software may be causing this issue. Please follow Troubleshooting security software issues. .

hi, i had to restore my ipod 5G and it says its in recovery mode and its saying ipod software downloading but when its done it says it timed out i tried like 5 times what should i do

Try disabling the computer's antivirus and firewall.
    - Next try the manual install method of:
iDevice Troubleshooting 101 :: iPhone, iPad, iPod touch
Place the iPod in recovery mode after the firmware download is complete and then restore using the instructions in the article. Sometimes recovery mode timeouts and returns to disabled before the firmware download is complete.
    - Then try on another computer
