HELP!

Sorry, I can't help but I have a similar problem. "The iPod <iPod name> could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (1432)." My 30GB iPod video (5th generation) crashes whenever I try to sync it. I either get the error dialogue, or the 'device removal' dialog box after roundabout 4 minutes. But the connection is all right. I even tried a different cable. And a different computer. It mounts perfectly, starts to sync my library, but gets stuck after syncing a few songs. I thought the songs might be corrupted. So I tried sync my photos, not my music library. But the outcome is the same. Tried to restore. Worked once. Later, when I tried to sync the same s**t happened again. Now I can't even restore the iPod anymore, because the errors occur before the iPod can be restored. Tried to reset the iPod. Nothing. Tried the diagnostics, manual and auto. Auto shows M25 diagnostics 0.7 completed PLL: 0. Does anyone know what that means? The manual diagnostics for memory results in "Checksum=0x0CFF" for flash and "RUN: BL on / PASS: BL blink / FAIL: BL off" for SDRAM... Does that mean the memory is f**ked? Once I restart the iPod it works fine, I can navigate thru the menus etc. (Pointless without music on the iPod and without the possibility to sync...)
If the RAM was broken the iPod shouldn't boot at all, am I right?
Can anyone help???
I am getting frustrated... the iPod is just a little bit too old for warranty!

  • I was halfway thru updating ipod touch software, got error 1602

I was halfway thru updating ipod touch software, i walked away from computer and when i came back there was an error "1602" and a picture on my ipod (requesting to connect to itunes?) but WILL NOT WORK AT ALL!
What's going on?  Seems like a lot of people are having similar problems all at the same time.

From the article cited at the end of my post:
Error 1602: Try the following steps to resolve this error:
Ensure proper USB isolation troubleshooting has been performed, and test with a known-good cable.
Follow the steps listed for Error 1604.
This error may be resolved by disabling, deactivating, or uninstalling third-party security, antivirus, and firewall software. See steps in this article for details on troubleshooting security software.
Error 1603: If you receive this error and the iOS device is not automatically placed into recovery mode, it may be necessary to do so manually. Refer to iPhone and iPod touch: Unable to restore for steps on placing iPhone into forced recovery mode. Also, remove the IPSW and attempt to restore again. If you do not want to remove the IPSW in the original user, try restoring in a new administrator user.
Error 1604: This error is often related to USB timing. Try changing USB ports, uninstalling and reinstalling USB ports, and other available USB troubleshooting steps (troubleshooting USB connections, device not recognized properly, computer won't recognize a FireWire or USB device). If you are using a dock, bypass it and connect directly to the USB 30-pin dock-connector cable. If the issue persists on a known-good computer, the device may need service.

  • "Ipod software is too old" error with ipod nano

I am having a big problem with my ipod nano. I've been working on it for a week and still have not been able to fix it. I can sync my ipod nano to my mac g4 (running OS X 10.3.9) however in the ipod settings it won't show the version of ipod software and the click buttons to restore the ipod or update it are grayed out. When I connect the ipod I get an error message "Some of the items in the itunes library were not copied to your ipod because your ipod software is too old. Go to Summary tab in ipod preferences and update to get the latest software update."
As mentoined, when I do that the update is not available. I have reset the ipod multiple times, restored it, reformatted the disk etc. With the ipod blank, I discovered it does NOT give this error when I connect it to an older imac g3 (go figure) and that it correctly shows the ipod system information and allows me to update it or restore it from itunes (7.0.2). If I then plug the ipod into the G4 it gives the same error message.
The fact that it works and syncs fine with another mac leads me to believe that it's not the ipod, but my system software on the G4 that is corrupted- there must be a settings file that is bad, I just don't know which one it is. Help!!

Is it possible that you have part of an old iTunes still installed on your computer? If so, take a look at the info I pasted below from the following article:Troubleshooting iTunes installation on Mac OS X
It's possible that clicking the iTunes icon in your Dock or double-clicking an iTunes icon on your desktop could open an older version of iTunes. Open iTunes from the Applications folder to be sure you are opening the right version:
    Double-click your hard disk.
    Double-click the Applications folder.
    Double-click the iTunes icon.
If you notice another copy of iTunes in the Dock after following these steps, here's a way to take care of that:
    Quit iTunes.
Drag the iTunes icon out of the Dock.
Drag the iTunes icon from the Applications folder to the Dock.

Follow Troubleshooting security software. Often, uninstalling third-party security software will resolve these errors.
There may be third-party software that modifies your default packet size in Windows by inserting a TcpWindowSize entry into your registry. Your default packet size being set incorrectly can cause these errors. Contact the manufacturer of the software that installed the packet size modification for assistance or follow this article by Microsoft: How to reset Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).
Verify that access to ports 80 and 443 are allowed on your network.
Verify that communication to albert.apple.com or photos.apple.com is not blocked by a firewall, or other Internet security setting.
Discard the .ipsw file, open iTunes and attempt to download the update again. See the steps underAdvanced Steps > Rename, move, or delete the iOS software file (.ipsw) below for file locations.
Restore your device while connected to a different network.
    Restore using a different computer.

  • Restore error message: "There was a problem downloading the iPod software"

I am trying to restore my iPod and keep getting this message when I try: "There was a problem downloading the iPod software for the iPod "iPod". The requested resource was not found." HELP! What do I do next???
      Windows XP

    Hi BigIRv,
Actually, a "requested resource" error message (which I believe you are getting) most of the time has to do with iTunes having a problem with connecting to your iPod, rather than the iPod software update server (although a more rare possibility of this error message could occur in that sense).
See my post here, which contains a couple of things to try if you have that error message:

  • ITunes fails to connect to store or iPod software update server despite working network, fails on multiple networks - no error message, just loads forever.

    Hey everyone,
I have iTunes 10.4 and an iPod touch. I have always had trouble with synching my iPod.
Right now, iTunes will not connect to the iTunes store. When I try to synch my iPod touch, it gets stuck in "Step 2: Backing Up," and the bar loads forever. I've left it alone for several hours and it has not made any progress. When I try to restore the iPod, or update it, iTunes gives me an error message that it "Cannot connect to the iPod software update server. This has happened despite being connected to the internet, on both my school network and my home network.
I've tried messing with the hosts file in the System32/etc. folder as the website instructed on the apple website, but that did not solve the problem.
Recently, several parts of audiobooks I have have also become unplayable on my iPod, despite being able to be played on iTunes. The parts are listed but are grey and cannot be selected.
I recently copied a bunch of audiobooks via flash drive from my sister's computer to my iTunes - could this be part of the problem? They were from an Audible account that I don't share.
    Thanks!
    -Allison

Your iTunes stores and sync problem solution here:
    Close your iTunes,
    Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
    (Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
    netsh winsock reset
    Hit "ENTER" key
    Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes, Sync and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

  • IPod Updates with error message when trying to upgrade iPod software

We now have 3 iPods (2 3rd generation, 1 2nd generation), which are sync'd with a single iMac (running Leopard) with different checked play lists. When either of the 2 3rd generation iPods are attached, it indicates an upgrade is available (v1.1) but when selected indicates "problem downloading the iPod software for the iPod x. You do not have enough access privileges for this operation"
    What configuration change is needed?

  • Updating iPod touch to iPhone 3.0 Software for iPod touch, getting error 14

I recently tried to update my 2g iPod touch to the 3.0 software. During the installation, I got an error message saying that an "unknown error 14" has occurred. This happened during the restoration process, and then my iPod just gave me the screen with the USB cable and the iTunes logo. iTunes then told me to restore the ipod, and during that restoration process, I got the same error. I also tried doing the restore manually by finding the iPod software on my hard drive, and then option-clicking on the restore button the find the software and then install. If anyone has any fixes or suggestions for this problem, they would be greatly appreciated.

Ok. I have spent the last 8 hours researching this problem and have the absolute 110% answer to everyone's problem with this issue.
Error 13 and 14 : Are checksum problems with the firmware image that is in the update package.
The update package is a .ipsw (IPod or IPhone SoftWare). This file is actually just a .zip renamed .ipsw.
The error is caused by a failure to download a crc-free version of the file. Not really sure why there are so many crc problems with the iphone updates, but Apple does not check the integrity of the update package before wiping your current version of IPhone software and that is why all IPhones that start an update with a bad update package end up in recovery mode. These errors are NOT related to the iTunes installation, antivirus software, or firewalls.
Recommendation : use a program like "Object Fix" (Freeware) to verify the integrity of the file prior to commencing with any new updates. You will have to keep trying to download it until you get a error free file. Once you have a CRC error free file this problem will go away. (I thought TCP/IP helped get rid of CRC errors.)
I had another problem and that was...
Error 1603 and 1604 : These are USB driver connectivity problems.
Recommendation : FULLY uninstall and re-install itunes software as stated in the Apple support documentation. Be sure to reboot between each step and these problems should clear themselves up. In addition, firewalls and anti-virus software may cause these errors as well.
Finally, shame on apple for not properly documenting their software so that end users do not have to decrypt their error messages with no true support to solve the issues. These are problems that enough people have had that there should be specific documentation on these problems.
