  • Ipod software problem

My ipod dowloaded the new software update ioS 7.0.6, it went into recovery mode.
Took 3 days to get it out. Finally once out and all in order it goes off and on, wifi randomly connects, can't force it to recovery mode, itunes recognizes it for some time but when it is about to go to restore the software it doesn't.
I have had problems with the software before, some reset and restores of software fixed it.

Try restoring eith another cable and USB port.
    Next try on another computer.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Uploading Ipod Software :: PROBLEMS!

My dad and I got my mom a lovely video iPod. I was helping her upload the software onto her Windows XP laptop and I accidently plugged in the iPod before uploading the software. We uploaded the software and even got some music on, but we kept getting these pop up balloons that said there was a hardware error. Eventually, her computer shut down and all that showed was a blue screen with an error report. We got her computer working and uninstalled the software. We tried to upload the software again, but the same thing happened. I am not sure if this is because I plugged in the iPod early, or what, but we really want to figure it out. The iPod still works, though. Any ideas on what happened and how we can fix it and get her iPod to work on her computer?

sorry, "SP2" is Service Pack 2.
okay, let's try enlisting some additional technical help with this one.
let's capture a minidump of the crash and send it to someone who can interpret minidumps.
To set up your machine to capture a minidump, right click on "My Computer", select "Properties", select the "Advanced" tab, select the "Startup and Recovery" Settings button, select "small memory dump" from the popup. When it crashes, look for the MiniDump file. It's usually in the folder "C:\WINDOWS\Minidump" and is called something like Mini<number>-<number>.dmp.
collect the minidump, and send it to this email address
in the email, include the URL to this thread so that the person who gets the email has some context, but also give as much information about the context of the crashing as you can.

  • IPod software problem, not updater.

I have a seemingly very bad problem with my 15GB I think 2G iPod, it won't properly connect to my computer, but it will connect. It shows up as a disk image on my computer sometimes, and as an iPod others.
Anyway, it tells me I need to reformat the iPod, which I have tried several times, I have tried the Disk Utilities erase too, neither have worked, it keeps telling me that it can't be ejected. So, I decided to try and use Terminal to erase it. I used every rm variation I could think of, all of them though told me that the "Device is busy." even the sudo version didnt work on that...
The songs and all the data are on my iPod but it just won't connect now. It had been fine until just last night. I had updated it last around a week and a half ago, but it just wont work now!
Please help, its really getting me angry.

The device is busy message usually can be handled by going into Terminal, running Top, then finding the PID of the offending process and killing it using that number, with sudo in front for the first one:
    "sudo kill 426"
or whatever. At least that works when a CD is bad and it gets hung up, not allowing me to eject it. Look for the busy process that's hogging the processor. It's worth a shot.
What file were you attempting to erase, exactly?

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Problem downloading iPod Software / Network connection could not be made

I am trying to upgrade to version 1.2.1 of the iPod software. I am using version 7.0.2 of iTunes. Whenever I connect my iPod it indicates that there is a newer version of the iPod software. Whenever I try "download and install" or "download only", I get the following error message: "There was a problem downloading the iPod software for the iPod 'My iPod'. The network connection could not be made.".
I am able to get on the internet in my browser and I am able to get to the iTunes store just fine.
I checked the solution at: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=304468, but this article isn't the same error message as the one that I am getting. Note: I did try the solution stated in this article and it didn't help.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated!

  • Restore error message: "There was a problem downloading the iPod software"

I am trying to restore my iPod and keep getting this message when I try: "There was a problem downloading the iPod software for the iPod "iPod". The requested resource was not found." HELP! What do I do next???
      Windows XP

    Hi BigIRv,
Actually, a "requested resource" error message (which I believe you are getting) most of the time has to do with iTunes having a problem with connecting to your iPod, rather than the iPod software update server (although a more rare possibility of this error message could occur in that sense).
See my post here, which contains a couple of things to try if you have that error message:

  • Trying to update iPod software; Connection problems.

Okay, so I have the iPod Touch 4th Gen, and when I plugged it into my computer, iTunes said that there was a iPod software update available. I've tried several times to download the update, but every time I try the same thing happens: It only downloads a few hundred KB of it, then it stops there, and the remaining time displayed keeps going up until it shows up to 24 hours or more, and finally, an error message comes up saying it couldn't complete the request because of connection problems. (error = -3259)
On a similar note, when downloading songs from iTunes, I constantly have to pause and resume them in order for them to fully download. Otherwise it just stops where it is.
However, I can still connect to the store just fine, with only a very few timeouts here and there, but those are easily remedied by re-visiting the page I tried to view.
So, clearly I have some sort of issue with my connection to iTunes. Can someone please help me?

care to share what the other way to download it is??
My boss has an ipad, last week he downloaded the 2 entire seasons of 24, and a season of Rescue Me with no problems at all, now he's trying to download a movie and he keeps getting this error. If those shows downloaded just fine why won't the movie download? Our Windows firewalls are disabled by Group Policy so that's not the problem... and our security software hasn't changed since last week when he successfully downloaded those shows so that shouldn't be the issue either. We don't use proxys. He's wired to the internet so it's not a wireless timing out on him issue. He's on the latest version of itunes. He's logged out of itunes store, shut down itunes, and relogged in... same problem.

  • Problem downloading iPod software...

I need to restore my iPod, as it is not working properly. When I connect to iTunes (the latest version), the Restore screen comes up because right away it says that my iPod has become corrupt and needs to be restored...
...so, I click the "Restore" button, and I get the following error:
There was a problem downloading the iPod software for the iPod "iPod". The requested resource was not found.
    Any ideas???...

    ok guys heres your solution
To reset your 5th generation iPod with video:
Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
Press and hold the Menu and Select buttons until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 10 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.
Tip: If you are having difficulty resetting your iPod, set it on a flat surface. Make sure the finger pressing the Select button is not touching any part of the click wheel. Also make sure that you are pressing the Menu button toward the outside of the click wheel, and not near the center.
If the above steps did not work, try connecting iPod to a power adapter and plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet, or connect iPod to your computer. Make sure the computer is turned on and isn't set to go to sleep

  • IPod won't restore - problem downloading iPod software

When the restore window comes up and I select the restore button, an error window pops up that says "there was a problem downloading the iPod software for the iPod "iPod". The requested resource was not found". I've tried several of the tips including redownloading itunes and deleting the Temp files. Any other things I should do?

I was able to finally get iTunes to recognize the iPod by putting it in disk mode (pushing the menu & select buttons together then the play/pause & select buttons together) and connecting the iPod to the computer. When I did this, a window came up saying a software update for the iPod was available with a prompt to update. The software updated ok and then the iPod sync'd with iTunes. The only side effect seems to be the iPod is a lot slower now and sometimes acts like it is going to freeze up. I'm not sure if there is anything else I should follow up with to eliminate the resulting side effect.

  • Problem downloading Ipod software during restore

    Hello everyone,
My iPod has had a flakey connection to iTunes, so I decided to restore my mini to factory settings.
All seemed to be going well until I hit the "Restore" button, which brings up a pop-up message "There was a problem downloading the iPod software for the iPod. The requested resource was not found".
Does that mean the software wasn't found or my iPod wasn't found? Can anyone help?
    Thanks,
    Richie
    Acer Laptop   Windows XP

    Hi again,
No luck I'm afraid. I followed the instructions on the link you provided.
Having run chkdsk, there were no problems.
I navigated down to the iTunes subdirectory, but I don't have anything called "iPod software updates". I did a search on my Documents & Settings with no luck. I've checked that I have enabled viewing of system folders under my folder settings.
    All I can see are the following files;
    CD Info.cidb
    iTunes.pref
    iTunesPrefs.xml
and I have an empty directory called iTunes Plug-ins.
In the iTunes sub-directory from 'All Users', all I can see is a file called iPodDevices.xml
    I don't know if there's an error in the webpage you ent me, but I do have a directory called 'iPod Updater 2005-06-26' in my Program Files/iPod subdirectory. This contains the following files;
    Acknowledgements.rtf
    iPod Help.chm
    iPod Updater 2005-06-26.exe
    iPodUpdaterExt.dll
    Readme.doc
    StMp3Rec.inf
    StMp3Rec.sys
    StMp3Recnt.cat
Should I do anything with these?
As a furhter troubleshoot, I've borrowed a friends iPod Nano and connected it to my Itunes okay using my cable, so I know it's an issue with my iPod - any other ideas?
    Thanks again for your help,
    Richie

  • Problem with video after installing ipod software update 1.2

I recently downloaded the ipod software update version 1.2 for my ipod. It seems to have changed the video screen output as some of my videos now do not play full screen and instead have black boarders down each side of the screen while playing.
At first I thought switching off the widescreen option in the video settings screen would fix the problem but doing this cuts off a large portion of the picture at the top and bottom of the screen. I can only assume this change in screen ratio came with the update and was wondering if anyone knows of a way to fix this problem or if it will be fixed in the next ipod software update with some kind of option to switch screen ratios in the video settings menu.
I would like to keep updating my ipod but have since reset it so icould get full screen video playback and have been avioding the updates incase it happens again.

hmmmm. were those videos that you converted yourself
with QT Pro, alg2? if so, it might be worth checking
on the possibility from this document:
QuickTime Pro: DV format movies may require
    adjustment for iPod
(if the source files were DV PAL, that can produce
the "bars down the side" effect ... unlike NTSC where
you get the "bars along the top" effect shown in the
    graphic in the document.)
I did convert them myself but but not with quicktime pro will this solution still apply if were to purchase QT Pro or should i contact the company i bought my programme from.
