IPOD Software update and Factory Resetting

Hey,
So my Ipod touch needs to be reset and I cannot load the backup of it back on. If I purchased the iPod touch 3.0 update the first time around, will I have to repurchase it again once it is reset, or will it install it again? Thanks

If you use the same account as when you bought the update, iTunes will remember your purchase and download the firmware during the restore process.

  • Problem with new iPod software update and Robi DAB radio

There seems to be a compatability issue between my iPod Classic and my Robi DAB radio attachment. The DAB radio was working just fine until last week, when I downloaded the latest iPod software updates. Since then, the Robi works fine when it is used as a remote control for the iPod, but when it is used in radio mode, the iPod shuts down after a few minutes (as though it does not recognise that the radio is still attached, and thinks that there is no activity) and the Robi closes down too (due to lack of battery power when the iPod is no longer on). It could be a coincidence, but my guess is that the iPod updates are causing a problem.
I have tried to remove the new software updates from the iPod, ie I deleted the latest updates from the iPod software updates file (C/Documents and Settings/user name/Application data/Apple Computer/iTunes/iPod Software updates), unchecked the box labelled "automatically check for software updates", and then tried to restore the iPod using the old software. At that point, a message from iTunes appeared, to the effect that it could not go any further due to no internet connection. I could not find any way of restoring the iPod without letting iTunes download the current sortware updates.
So the question is, does anyone else have a similar compatability problem (with the Robi or anything else) and how can I get the iPod to run on the previous software?
I would be very grateful for any advice, as this is a very frustrating problem.

The good news is that I removed the most recent iPod software update, restored the iPod (ie returned it to factory settings and reloaded all 14500 songs) and now I am really pleased to say that the iPod and the Robi are working together again in harmony, which is a huge relief.
    Since I had inadvertently deleted the previous version of the iPod software from my PC, I had to download the files from here;
    http://rapidshare.com/files/73863240/1.0.3.zip.html
I have contacted Roberts Radio about this problem. The recent 1.1 software update must be even more frustrating for them, since they have sold lots of Robi radios.
    If anyone needs help to revert to the previous iPod software, have a look at this thread, where the instructions are printed in red;

  • When I plug in my iPod and it syncs it says that a bunch of my apps cannot be loaded because my iPod does not have the latest software to support them, but I have done all of the iPod software updates and the same apps were working fine just weeks ago...?

I plug in my iPod to charge from my computer and it syncs with my iTunes, but I've been getting a message that a list of 13 of my apps cannot be loaded onto my iPod because it doesn't have the latest software to support them. I have done all the software updates for my iPod and iTunes says it is completed up-to-date. Do I need to delete the apps and redownload them or what?
    Any help is appreciated! Thanks.

ok well like lllaass said, most apps require 4.3 or later iOS software. chances are since the apps worked before, the apps themselves got updated and will no longer work with your software version.

  • IPhone 5 constant crashing after iOS 8.0 Update and Factory Reset!!

So...thanks Apple! You completely bricked my phone with the most recent update.
    Status since 9/17....
    * Performed iOS 8.0 update via iTunes on my iPhone 5.
    * No issues whatsoever until Saturday 9/20 around 5pm
    * Phone starts reseting incessantly about every 5-10 minutes.
    * Performed hard reset. No luck.
    * Uninstalled apps since update. No luck.
    * Noticed upon some crashes the screen goes totally janky (maybe graphics chip failure?)
    * This morning decided to run full factory reset, hoping all would be fixed.
    * Resetting issues start almost immediately and are continuing.
I'm not too excited about going into the Apple store given all the iOS 8.0 issues and fan-boys buying the newest 6 (holding out for 6s if possible).
Has anyone else out there had a similar experience?
    Thank you in advance,

SO, the constant reboots have stopped, but now have significant charging issues.

  • Updated and factory reset macbookpro, how to recover lost videos from the application "front row"

Desperately need an answer, every response is appreciated.

What do you mean you factory reset it?
If you erased & reinstalled the OS then I'm afraid to tell you that those items are gone.
A data recovery company may be able to recover files but it could be difficult or impossible depending on the disk type & how it was setup.
You need to avoid writing any new data to a disk that will be recovered from to stand the best chance of finding deleted files. Power off the Mac & leave it off until you have decided on a course of action.
Don't you have any backups at all?

  • WRT310N Setup issues after firmware update and factory reset

    Hi Everyone,
I recently updated my firmware to v2 on my WRT310N and found that I could no longer connect my PC to my router.  Whenever I run the setup software that came with the router it goes through all the steps but errors out when it looks for the router.  I think the error number I am getting is 322.
I tried to reset the router to the factory defaults, but I am still having the same issues.
When I plug my Cable modem directly into my PC I have no issues and have full internet connectivity.  I have tried to navigate manually to the 192.168.1.1 to do a manual setup of the router but I can't get to the router main page.
I'm running windows XP SP3 and I had no issues up until I did the firmware upgrade.  I can't think of what I am doing wrong and am stuck.
    Any thoughts?

Make sure that the cable modem is connected to the Internet port of the router. Your computer should be connected to one of the 4 Ethernet ports on the router. If your computer is connected to the port 1 of the router then port 1 light on the router will lit up. Also make sure that the Power light on the router is steady and not flashing. If the power light on the router is flashing then try to reset and power cycle the router again.
Once the power light on the router is steady then check the IP address of the computer.
Go to Start >> Click Run >> Type cmd and click Ok. You will get the command prompt window opened. In the command prompt type ipconfig and hit Enter on your keyboard. You will see the IP address of your computer. The IP address of the computer will be like 192.168.1.xxx and Default gateway will be 192.168.1.1.
Now open the Internet browser and in the address bar type the number 192.168.1.1.
It will ask you to enter the User name and password for the router. Leave the user name blank and in the password type admin. It will open the Linksys router setup page.
Under the setup tab you will find Mac address Clone sub-tab.  Enable the MAC addres clone and click on the button Clone my PC's MAC. Save the changes. Try to access the Internet on your main computer.
If not able to access the Internet then unplug the power cable to the router and modem. Plug in the power to the modem first. Wait for a minute and then plug in the power to the router. Try to access the Internet.
Once your main computer is able to go on line then you can change the wireless settings of the router.

  • Software Updates and Hanset resets

After upgrading software i know it's prudent to perform the *#7370# reset, but what about formatting the E: mass memory?
After a firmware update should both C: and E: be formatted?

Hi, I followed this advice when I updated acouple of months ago, and am extremely happy with my N97, however the time it takes to re-install everything is a pain (25 Gig of music and films) So I will try without next time and use phone a couple of days before formating , if it's still running smooth I won't bother. I will however bite the bullet if any problems arise as I now know it works. Also thanks to ALL the guys/girls who take the time to share there knowledge and advice on this forum and others.

Do not call AppleCare, this has nothing to do with your hardware and is not covered under your warranty.
If the file key you need is not in your backup contact the iTunes Store by going here:

  • IPod software update?

Okay so this is my second iPod for this Windows computer, when I plug it in it says "iTunes cannot read the contents of 'ALEX'S IPOD'. Use the iPod Software Updater application to restore to iPod to factory setting."
So i DLed and ran the iPod Software Updater and restarted my computer, re-installed iTunes and restarted my computer. Nothing has worked, any suggestions or help would be most appreciated.
    Thanks!

  • IPod Software Updater won't work

Every time I try to update my iPod, I get a message stating that some of my music will not transfer becuase my ipod software is to old. I downloaded the update and installed it (multiple times), but it keep getting thw same message when I try to synch my ipod. Thoughts?

I think you're missing one step. You've downloaded and installed the updater, but you still have to run it and either restore or update your iPod. To run the updater go to /Applications/Utilities/iPod Software Updater and launch the latest iPod updater that is within that folder.
Restore will clear the iPod and put the latest software on it. Update will leave all data intact and update to the latest software. If you already have music on the iPod do update, if not then do restore.

  • PROBLEM: iPod software update

I have been on the website numerous times to download the iPod software update and every time the process seems to go through all the steps successfully, until I try to sync my iPod with iTunes and I get this error message:
SOME OF THE SONGS IN ITUNES MUSIC LIBRARY WERE NOT COPIED TO THE IPOD BECAUSE YOUR IPOD SOFTWARE IS TOO OLD. GO TO WWW.APPLE.COM TO GET THE LATEST IPOD SOFTWARE UPDATE.
I got to the website to download the update every time I get this message, reboot the computer as prompted after the download, and then I try to sync and I STILL get the error message. Please help!

    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
After you downloaded the iPod software updater, you need to install the updater, then run it. Attach the iPod when you are told, and choose update. Then the software on the iPod will be updated.
By the way, do you have an iPod AC charger? I am not sure but you may be required to plug the iPod to the charger to complete the update.

Update to the latest version of iTunes. Mac OS X 10.5.8 (Leopard) users may need to download iTunes 10.6.3.
Third-party security software or router security settings can also cause this issue. To resolve this, followTroubleshooting security software issues.
Downgrading to a previous version of iOS is not supported. If you have installed software to performunauthorized modifications to your iOS device, that software may have redirected connections to the update server (gs.apple.com) within the Hosts file. Uninstall the unauthorized modification software from the computer.
Edit out the "gs.apple.com" redirect from your hosts file, and then restart the computer for the host file changes to take affect. For steps to edit the Hosts file and allow iTunes to communicate with the update server, see iTunes: Troubleshooting iTunes Store on your computer, iPhone, iPad, or iPod—follow steps under the heading Blocked by configuration (Mac OS X / Windows) > Rebuild network information > The hosts file may also be blocking the iTunes Store. If you do not uninstall the unauthorized modification software prior to editing the hosts file, that software may automatically modify the hosts file again on restart.
Avoid using an older or modified .ipsw file. Try moving the current .ipsw file (see Advanced Steps > Rename, move, or delete the iOS software file (.ipsw) below for file locations), or try restoring in a new user to ensure that iTunes downloads a new .ipsw.

  • Can I reset the Machine to Factory, but keep software updates and installs?

I have a Loan Mac Mini for Tech Support and Macintosh Evangelism. I loan it out to customers when I'm fixing their Windows Boxes, so they have something to use in the Interim, and to encourage them to Get A Mac.
Is there a way of installing all relevant Software Updates and installing 3rd party Drivers and software, but still allowing my Customers to have the full 'Macintosh Experience' with the Welcome screen, migration tool, et al.
Two ways I can think of doing this is Restoring MacOSX on it, installing the Software Updates and 3rd Party software from a Different Machine, but not all packages allow installation to a Non-Boot Drive.
The other way is to Create an Admin Account, Install all the Software Updates and 3rd Party software, and then remove the Admin Account.
