Ipod song volume software recommendation.

I am looking for software recommendation for to control volume on ipod, as Sound is horrible. Far from consistent. Any and all recommendations are welcome and appreciated.
Sebastian

Have you tried the Sound Check option in iTunes?
I assume you are referring to volume from one song to the next going from too quiet to blow our your ear drums loud?
I turned on Sound Check and that helped considerably. But now I have to go back in and tweak some volumes for some CDs, especially for ones that I had boosted way up before using Sound Check. So as I listen to stuff, if I notice a particular artist, album, track, being overly quiet or loud compared to most, I make a note to adjust it later when I get home. Using the "recently played" play list helps you to find those ones you recently played that have the problem.

  • IPod Song Volume

I am about to give up. I have tried both sound check on and off and have wiped out the IPod and started over twice but still can't get the song volume to match between the IPod and ITunes. I just spent a half day song by song getting the songs to play at the same volume in ITunes, Restored the IPod and the reloaded everything. SOund Check is off on both ends. The ITunes sounds great but the IPod volumes are all over the map. I have been chasing this problem since I got it for Christmas. Any ideas??

  • Any recommendations on software to backup IPOD songs to computer?

I have to do this because my < 2-year-old IPOD Photo has been throwing tantrums every now and then, and I have a premonition he might fall into a terminal comma one bright sunny day.
I was hoping to find out if there is any good software out there to back up IPOD songs(with all tags intact) to a computer(I am a PC user)? Itunes won't do that, and the other software I know that does this is CopyPod, but I wanted to see if there are any other alternatives
    Thanks

If you are using iTunes version 7 or later, then you can transfer purchased iTunes store music from the iPod to an authorized computer by using the "file/transfer purchases from iPod" menu. Note that the maximum of 5 authorized computers applies here.
For all other non purchased music (your own CDs etc) try this method which works on some Windows PCs.
Enable your iPod for disk use.
    See: iPod Disk Use.
Open iTunes and select edit/preferences/advanced/general. Put a check mark in the box marked "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library" and also "keep iTunes music folder organized", then click 'ok'.
Connect the iPod whilst holding down the shift/ctrl keys to prevent any auto sync, and if you see the dialogue window asking if you want to sync to this itunes library, click 'no'.
Then go to file/add folder, open 'my computer', select your iPod and click 'ok'.
The music files should transfer to your iTunes.
If this doesn't work (and it may not because officially it's not supposed to), check out the instructions/suggestions here.
Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it can be messy.
Much easier ways are to use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music and playlists etc from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Another free program is Pod Player.

  • How do I put all my iPod songs into my iTunes library?

I got my iPod in October, and at the time I didn't own a computer. I used my dad's computer to put songs from my CDs onto my iPod.
Today I finally bought my own laptop, a Mac iBook. I'm trying to load all my iPod songs into my iTunes, but I can't figure out how.
    Thanks for any help!

    Hello Colleen,
The transfer of music is designed to be one way by default - from iTunes to iPod. However, there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the files from your iPod. This is just a selection but I would recommend Senuti, I have used it myself and it's very user friendly.

Have a look at the web pages and documentation for these and pick one you are happy with, they are generally quite straightforward.

  • Determing Song Volume

    HI Folks
Just updated iTunes and now in the window it says "Determining Song Volume: Analyzing xxx of 2165: Song Name"
I've never noticed iTunes doing this on previous updates.
Can anyone let me know why this is necessary?
    Thanks

Sounds like you have "Sound Check" turned on.

  • What is "Determining Song Volume?"

And why does it take so long?
I want to update a restored iPod on iTunes 7, but it's spending forever going through 4,000 some songes to "Determine Song Volume." I have not seen iTunes do that before.
Is there a way to make it stop?
    iMac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

iTunes "determins song volume" so that it can play back all songs with about the same volume. To do this is it has to go through all your music and determin the volume of each song.
You probably never noticed this before since it is quite fast doing just a few songs at a time (the way most of us add music to our libraries). Unfortunately iTunes 7 aparently goes through all songs and determins the volume again (probably becuase there was a problem with this is some earlier versions of itunes)
You can make it stop by turning off "soundcheck" in the playback preference pane.

ever since the ios5 update some of my ipod songs come out as duplicate and only on my ipod not on my itunes why is that? how can i fix it?

Hey Ryan, When you looked at Get Info as Illaass instructed did you compare all the info listed in iTunes Get Info on the computer's copy? When you looked at the song(s) that are separated, do they list anything different like a featured artist? Or a different composer / song writer? Sometimes that will trick the the software into thinking it is 2 different albums. Make the info about the album and artist match, then sync to your iPod. The songs should go back where they belong on your iPod. Good luck. Cheers.

  • ITunes cannot read contents of iPod "New Volume"...

Won a brand new iPod Nano 16GB yesterday. Installed everything and it worked fine until this morning... When I plugged in the iPod, iTunes gave me the following error message:
+iTunes cannot read the contents of the iPod "New Volume". Go to the Summary tab in iPod preferences and click Restore to restore this iPod to factory settings.+
So, I followed the instructions to restore the factory settings, but I keep getting the same error message just after the restore process is complete.
I also don't get all the restore options as mentioned on the support pages, and for some reason the iPod name I set up yesterday is now also gone.
I've uninstalled iTunes, re-installed it and reset the iPod - but to no avail.
    Can anyone please help?

    Hello MadHolmes,
And welcome to Apple Discussions! And congrats on winning the iPod.
So your iPod is stuck in sort of a restore loop? It sounds to me like the iPod's drive letter may need to be reassigned. I would at least start there. Instructions on how to change your iPod's drive letter can be found in the Apple support document below.
[Windows confuses iPod with network drive or hard drive and may keep iPod from mounting or songs may seem to disappear|http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1493]
    Hope this helps.

  • Ipod songs not recognized

I plugged my ipod into a friends itunes to get a cd she had and after i ejected and turned my ipod back on, my ipod library had all of her music and none of mine. None of her music played (i put on shuffle songs and the song names just flashed by because none were valid) and the only tracks to work on my ipod were the ones from the CD i had meant to download to my ipod. Her itunes was not on automatic update (she had manually manage music selected). I reset my ipod and later plugged my ipod into my own computer where my ipod still showed up as my friends ipod with all of her library, except once again none of the songs worked (all had the little exclamation points next to them). I opened my Ipod control folder while it was plugged into my itunes and saw that my original library was in the folder I was able to play some of the songs from the ipod control folder. How do I correct this problem (without restoring the ipod and erasing whatever music i have on the ipod)? Also only about 25% of the 4000+ ipod songs are stored on my harddrive itunes folder which is working fine.

It would appear that the iPod hard drive or iPod software has become corrupt. This doesn't mean that the songs are not on your iPod, hence the fact that the iPod reports used space and iTunes may show them. I've never seen a plausible explanation for why it does this.
You should restore the iPod and then reload the songs from iTunes.

  • Ipod songs like crap

not all songs but most have distortion when the song volume goes up. i've swapped headphones and i've gotten the same result. the files sound great through the computer. what's wrong?

I first had this problem with certain albums on my 5th gen Video iPod. I finally found the answer is the gain level the music was originally recorded at. The distortion you are hearing is "clipping" and is made worse if you use the EQ. I downloaded a program called MP3Gain which allows you to decrease or increase the gain of songs or albums. Reducing the gain should eliminate the distortion, but you should be aware that it will decrease the volume of the songs you run the program against. MP3Gain will not reduce the quality of the tracks as it does not re-rip them, it simply inserts a tag to indicate that the gain should be lowered. If you do not like the results, all changes are easily reversible.

  • HT1296 i have just updated to the newest version of ipod softare, the ipod intalled new software but now all the music and videos on it will not play

i have just updated to the newest version of ipod softare, the ipod intalled new software but now all the music and videos on it will not play, how do i fix this

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all music and videos and resync
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

You can't sync or drag your non iTMS music back directly from an iPod to iTunes. The transfer of non iTMS content is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod, the transfer of purchased tracks has recently been introduced with iTunes 7. However there is a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows posted in this thread: MacMuse - iPod to iTunes
If you prefer something more automated then there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod, this is just a selection. Have a look at the web pages and documentation for these, they are generally quite straightforward. As iTunes 7 is just out some of these may not have caught up with it yet though I haven't experienced any problems with the Mac software I use.

  • Equalising song volume...

So I've tried over and over again to use the sound checker in iTunes to help equalise the volume in my iTune songs so I don't have to adjust my volume all the time but I find it to be useless.
Does anyone know of a program that will help equalise the volume of mp4's in batches so it can analyze a bunch of files, determine the average volume range, and then convert them into that volume?

I too am wondering the very same thing! All of my files are mp3 and when I playback on my iPod the volume is ALL over the place. I have used mp3Gain on every files and it doesn't help on my iPod and iTunes?
I have set my gain to 89dB for each of my files and saved the gain tags to the files but it doesn't seem to work when using the iPod?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
