Ipod songs all erased on the Iphone

I looked for an hour and got some great hints on this discussion board but nothing that answered my question. GREAT topics!!
Anyway, I was at the airport listening to my Iphone's Ipod, shut it off to do something, and when I fired the phone back up, all of my songs and special ringtones were deleted. Gone. I had to spend the whole trip in silence which bummed me out.
Did I do something to erase all of the songs? Or do you feel it was a phone malfunction?

My phone most likely was unlocked as I stuck it in my bag just long enough to pay for something, but then again I am not 100% sure. I had been working on "customizing" it with ringtones, adding calendar entries, etc., and when I went back to it, they were all gone. I am not sure what I could have done to erase everything. I appreciate your answer.

When you connect the phone to your computer, you can select the music you want to sync, all music, just selected playlists, just selected artists or genres.  See this: Overview of syncing iPhone, iPad or iPod touch with your computer:  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1386

Very simple.  Turn off Find my iDevice, then  Tap Settings, General, Erase, Erase all content and settings.

  • Iphone, How to add music files without erasing the previous song lists already in the iPhone.

    Hi
Is there a way to add additonal songs in the iPhone without deleting the songs already stored in the iPhone.
The problem is that most of the original songs stored in the PC has been erased in order to free up hard disk space.
Hence everytime when I link up the iPhone to the PC in order to add additional songs, the iPhone would sync itself to the iTune and erase what's already in the iPhone only to store the new songs.
If possible, I'd like to add not just single song multiple times but rather lists of songs in multiple folders at a time.
    Thank you for your help.

If you have manually manage music and videos checked and have disabled sync automatically, you can now drag and drop videos right onto the iPhone in iTunes. You can also delete songs and videos right from the iPhone in iTunes. Just click on the iPhone in the left pane, hit the music folder and drag and drop all you want and delete all you want.

  • Tired of paying for Apple's continued failure. Give us option on phone (NOT thru itunes sync) to MANUALLY delete songs from playlists or the iphone altogether.

It happens every time I make iTunes music purchases: entire playlists get wiped out, and all I can sync onto the iPhone 5 is what I just purchased, UNLESS, YET AGAIN, I completely restore it to factory and rewrite everything all over.
    So sad, Apple.
Yes, I have looked thru the forum threads yet again, and found no other working solution.
Yes, I tried backing up the phone 1st but still get stuck with (expletive) I wanted off the phone, and stuff I wanted on there, ISN'T there.
For whatever (insert expletive of choice) reason, it will NOT sync my old playlists.
For whatever (expletive) reason, if I check "manually manage music" under the Summary tab, then go over the music tab, something (expletive of choice)  up in the software decides to uncheck the "Manually manage music" box under the Summary tab, and it just creates a zero-progress loop where I can't sync the old playlists, or even new ones I create, onto the iphone.
Worse, songs I tried to take off of it long ago seem to manifest the (expletive) right back onto the iphone out of nowhere, and unless I completely restore, LIKE I'M DOING AGAIN, there is no working option I have found that removes the song(s) I THOUGHT I GOT RID OF.
PLEASE, Apple, is it asking too much to create a music sync that WORKS CORRECTLY all the time?
It is ONLY ever the music that does this.
App syncing, photo syncing, all of that functions properly each and every time.
And yet, oh look, it won't accept any playlists off my AUTHORIZED computer.
GIVE US THE SIMPLE option on the next iPhone update so we can manually remove/delete unwanted songs from playlists on the iphone, or from the iphone altogether, WITHOUT needing to connect it to a computer thru a faulty iTunes software that obviously consistently fails to properly sync the correct music on and take off what we don't want.
This is the final time I'm making the mistake of iTunes Store purchases until a sensible fix is implemented that addresses this fail sync issue.
Again, WHY is it ONLY and only ever the music syncing that (expletive of choice to get the point across) fails, yet apps and photos and mail & phone contacts sync correctly every time?
Yes, I read in the forum threads and customer support responses what needs to be checked and/or unchecked, yet all too often some software fail decides to revert those selections right back to where they were if I click another tab and come back to it (no, it's not an administrator thing, I am the only authorized user on the computers in question).
I'm tired of the hassle of having to redo my music library all over again, restore the phone, and hope that once more it will have the correct songs I told it to sync and NOT have a bunch of crap I never checked for it to have on there in the first place.
    FIX THIS PLEASE.

    You're welcome.

  • Can you use the iPod connector cable to charge the iPhone or

only the cable that came with the iPod?
Also, I put the iPhone briefly into my old inMotion speakers and a message
came up saying that the device didn't support an iPhone and would either not
charge my iPhone or have bad consequences for my iPhone-i wasn't sure-it did
    work in the speakers tho.

I use an iPod connector almost all the time and have never had a problem, even after market iPod connectors, but you'll get a different response depending on who you talk to. The guy at the Genius Bar told me yes, but phone support said no. Short answer...You should be able to use the iPod connector.
When you plug the iPhone into some 3rd party devices, you'll get a message stating "not compatible with iPhone" but that is because you are going to get interference because of the cell signal. You can put it into Airplane mode to avoid the interference or just deal with the interference and just click OK. That being said, I have read other posts where these devices do cause damage to the iPhone so proceed at your own risk.

  • Any way to restore music and photos if iPod when all erased due to interrupted sync?

is there any way to restore music and photos on iPod when all erased due to interrupted sync?

You said the music and photos were all erased from the iPod? And now you say your computer and all backups are gone. There is therefore no way to recover your files short of paying thousands of dollars to a professional data recovery laboratory and even then there's no guarantee you'll get all of it – or even some of it – back.

does anyone know how to delete songs that came with the iPhone 6 in the music?? i tried deleting them from iTunes but i couldn't.

I know you already solved this but for future reference, there is also another setting to only keep songs downloaded to your device visible in music.
Go to Settings --> Music --> Show All Music and make sure it is turned off

I did turn the contacts back on and it didnt work. I am hoping the wi-fi connection I am on at school is not compatible, and it will work when I get home. Thanks!

  • My iMac cancels all contacts on the iPhone while synchronizing!

i have a problem with my imac and my iphone.
As i had a macbook before, i transmitted all datas from it to my new imac. Apperently a contact/ ical "bug"
i never realized, that my posts from the calender never synchronized to the macbook. now at the imac i have the same problem AND that it deletes my contacts. i unticked the possibilty to replace all contacts on the iphone. so that can't be the problem.
    ANY Ideas?????

Brilliant! That worked like a charm.
I created a new User Account on one of my Macs and logged into it. I connected my iPhone to its iTunes and checked my iPhone's Sync Contacts option in iTunes. Since that account's address book was basically empty (two dummy contacts, one for Apple and one for this new user), I ended up with only those two Contacts on the phone. Then, going back to my real User account (which does not have syncing turned on in iTunes) the phone synced nicely with the MobileMe account and populated the phone with all the MobileMe contacts and groups.

  • Is there a way to move all information from the iPhone onto a USB drive without using a computer?

Is there a way to transfer all information from the iPhone to a USB device/drive without the use of a computer?  Can this be done via USB hookup with an app?

Thank you for your quick response.
Are there any apps that can do this, or is there a way to create an app to do this?

Can iPod classic be charged with the iPhone's or iPad's charger?

There shouldn't be any issue using one of those chargers.  When I need to charge something, I just connect to any 30-pin connector/charger that's closest.

  • TS1702 I have an iphone and my 2 children have ipods.  all 3 on the same apple id.  when one of their ipods gets a face time call , all 3 devices ring. i dont want to get these face time calls on my iphone or the other ipod .  what is the solution to this

i have an iphone and my 2 children have ipods. all 3 on the same apple id.  when one ipod gets a facetime call, all 3 devices ring.  how do i prevent all three devices getting the facetime call as it is intended for only one of the ipods?

You can all have independent AppleIDs for iCloud or iMessage etc, but share the same one for iTunes Store / AppStore purchases.

  • IPod doesn't work on the iPhone

    Hi
I can't get the iPod function to work at all on my new iPhone. When the button is pressed it goes to a blank screen, appears to think about if for a moment and then reverts to the home page. The phone is recognised on iTunes and the playlists I've selected are listed as being on there. I then tried buying some music on the iPhone. This went without a hitch and I was able to transfer the music to the computer, (it listed it in a "Purchased on iPhone" playlist). However, there is no record of it on the phone at all!
In the Setting>General>About section it says that there are 0 Songs on the iPhone but the available capacity corresponds with the capacity on iTunes, (which thinks 655MB is being used for Audio).
    Help!

I didn't use the term Reboot since there is no such thing term wise.
It is power off and on, then there is a Reset which is a system restart without powering the iPhone off and then a complete Restore.
Basically a Reset accomplishes powering an iPhone off and on so not much point in doing so first.
