Ipod songs do not copy to ipod

I just got my ipod nano today. I downloaded the iTunes 7 off the internet and it works fine. But every time i click the sync button the message "Songs on the ipod cannot be updated because all of the playlists selected for syncing no longer exist" comes up. Can someone please tell me how to get the songs onto my ipod.

Have a look at this user tip, it should solve your problem: Hudgie - iPod cannot sync because one or more playlists are missing
It's for an older version of iTunes but the principle is the same. You'll find the settings you need in iTunes 7 by clicking on the iPod icon and then going to the Music tab not iPod Options as described. In the new version you are looking for "Sync Music - Selected playlists": Loading songs onto iPod automatically

  • Song was not copied to iPod because it cannot be played on this iPod

i copied a song to a folder from the internet then added the folder to itunes. Then when i try to put the song on my iPod nano i get the message (song title) was not copied to the iPod "Mike's iPod" because it cannot be played on this iPod. i can play the entire song on the itunes library though, and there is a little wave icon thing next to the song title. How can I make it where I can copy this song to the iPod?

Ok, I tried changing the file format and when I select the song and go to the advanced menu it says convert selection to... but the text isnt selectable but is when I select a different song. I guess this means its protected from being converted? If so is there anything else I can do to be able to get it onto my iPod?
Also does it matter what format I try to convert it too?

  • Songs will not copy to iPod - authorization issue?

My apologies first if this topic has been covered already.
I just bought a shiny new 5Gen iPod and I need to load it up. Problem: any songs/videos I have purchased through the ITMS previously (with old iPod) will not copy to the new iPod.
Is this an authorization issue? How do I correct this? AND if I get the new iPod authorized correctly, does this mean I can no longer transfer stuff onto the old one?
How do any of you with more than one iPod handle this?
    Please and thank you!
    Powerbook G4 Titanium Mac OS X (10.4.2)

There are a few things you can do if this happens. Here are the first steps...
Have you played the songs in iTunes for a few seconds? This will authorize them. Now sync your iPod. Do they play?
If not, make sure everything is up to date on your computer...
    iTunes
    iPod Updater
If that doesn't work, in iTunes, go to advanced-->deauthorize computer. Now play the songs in iTunes. It will ask for your account information (from the iTunes Music Store). Enter that. Now play a few purchased songs for a few seconds. Sync your iPod. Do the songs work now?
If they don't, please post back for more suggestions.

  • Some songs are not copied to Ipod

To perform a clean install of Leopard, I erased the hard disk, installed the system and recovered all files from a Timemachine backup. Everything went fine. But, when I synchronised one of my 4 Ipods, a few songs (77 out of 2000) were not copied (Mac says that I do not have the permission to do so). Those songs were bought from the ITune store. Only 2 computers are registered on my ITunes store account. I use 4 Ipods.
    Can someone help ? Thanks

Have you authorized your new OS installation (which iTunes treats as a new and different computer)?
    See: About Authorization and Deauthorization.

  • Ipod syncs but itunes does not copy to ipod ?

Itunes syncs with ipod but does not copy to ipod ?

    Hi ranko65!
I think it's possible that your iPod is not appearing on the desktop/in the Finder because you are automatically syncing your iPod with iTunes, but Disk Use is not enabled.

  • Since I downloaded iTunes 11, I get a message when syncing my iPod that some of my songs were not copied because they are not authorized on this computer,  I go to Store Authorize This Computer, a message pops up telling me that this computer is already.

Since I downloaded iTunes 11, I get a message when syncing my iPod that some of my songs were not copied because they are not authorized on this computer,  I go to Store> Authorize This Computer, a message pops up telling me that this computer is already.

So I am unclear, did you purchase these songs or import them from a cd?
If you imported them and still have the CD try importing them again and see if they work the delete the others.
Or if you purchased from itunes re-dowwnload and see if they work. Maybe they are corrupted files and this should resove it.

    Not really likely, is it?
First of all, look on the iPod to see if the song is actually on there. (The last Sync of my Classic resulted in "song not copied... because it cannot be found." The song had previously been on the iPod. I checked and despite the fact that iTunes could not find the file, the song was still on my iPod. I checked the folder and the song was exactly where t was supposed to be. So I simply set iTunes to find it again. What happened? I don't know, iTunes simply threw a wobbly!)
Second, try another Sync. Does this change anything? If the song was on the iPod, does a second Sync remove the message?  If the song was not on the iPod after the first Sync, does the second one put it on there?
    What happens?

  • Why do I get the message " 'Song Tiltle' was not copied to iPod because it cannot be played on this iPod"

I got a new gen iPod Classic (160G) for Christmas, purchased Bob Marley's Album "Legend" and when I sync the playlist to the iPod I get an error message saying this one song cannot be played on this iPod. What gives? Is it something about "I Shot the Sheriff" that my iPod has a moral disagreement with? It had no issue importing and installing Body Count's "Kop Killa"...I'm confounded by this issue; Please, Someone, Help!

Right click the filename that won't download and selsct 'Get Info'. Look at the file path, does it have a //?// in it? That is a problem with Amazon downloads that prevent iTunes from finding the file. Use 'Add Folder' to add the album to your library and try syncing it again

  • Some songs do not copy from iTunes to iPod

This is very frustrating. I have a 5th Generation 60gig iPod. There are about 20,300 songs in my library, none of them from the iTunes store. All legal, all owned by me and I have the CDs to prove it. When I update the iPod all but about 4 or 5 songs copy over. The frustrating thing is there's no way to find out which songs are not copying over to the iPod, so I can't tell if there's a problem with them or what. AppleCare tells me the only way to find out is to visually compare the list on the iPod with the list in iTunes. I have 20,000 songs here and allegedly one of the most powerful computers you can get and I have to compare two nearly identical lists visually?? Oh, by the way I'm running 10.4.6 and the latest version of iTunes and the latest iPod update. This never happened with my 4th Generation iPod. Any thoughts at all of what to do would certainly be appreciated.

Are you basing the few that don't get sent to your ipod on the file count? Could there be duplicates? I've noticed that there are some of my movies that don't get sent over but I usually get a warning that they aren't in a compatable format.
There is an option in either file or edit (can't remember exactly where, I'm at work) but you can filter to show all the duplicates. I've noticed that when I drag files over to be copied to my ipod and there are duplicates, it only does one.
After you find the culprits, another thing would be to export the file to your desktop. Delete it from iTunes then reimport it making sure of the file format.
    just a thought

  • ITunes and iPod song counts not matching

I have just done a restore on my iPod Classic 160Gb, after recently reformatting and re-installing everything on my Mac Pro. Everything works fine, no problems.
However, if I check in my iTunes Library, it says I have 41153 songs,
in the iPod panel of iTunes it says I have 41427 songs, and
on the iPod display itself it says there are 41085 songs on the iPod.
I have sent iTunes to sync all music, and cannot understand why all three figures are not the same, especially the last two which are supposedly measuring the same thing. With a library this size it is almost impossible to find out which songs are not on the iPod or are being counted more than once.
Does anyone know how to resolve this?

    Hey there,
There are a couple of things to check.
    1. Make sure that if you have your iPod set to sync all checked songs and videos that each song in your iTunes library has a check mark next to it. To make sure, hold down the control key and click on one of the check marks next to a song. This may remove all of them, so you might have to do this twice to check all of the songs.
    2. Make sure that you have no duplicates in your library because duplicates will not sync over to your iPod. To check this, head to the File drop down menu and choose "Show Duplicates."
    3. Are there any error messages that appear when you are syncing the songs over to your iPod? If so, that may explain the difference in numbers. The error message may range from a missing file that iTunes could not locate or the song could not be copied over because it cannot be played on this iPod, and more.
Work through each of these and see if that helps.

  • Not copied to ipod

When I synch my ipod to itunes, I get the warning "some of the items in the library were not copied to ipod because they could not be found". But they ARE there, on both the library and the ipod. I haven't deleted them, or touched them at all. Why all of a sudden does it say they can't be found? And if they can't, why can I still find them and play them on both the ipod and the computer? How do I get rid of this erroneous error message?

I resolved the problem, thanks to this post on MacWorld (http://www.macworld.com/forums/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=ipod&Number=36 4111&page=&view=&sb=&o=).
To paraphrase, the newer ipods need an extension called ipodDriver.kext, but the latest version of iTunes does NOT install it on OS 10.3.9. Using a shareware program called Pacifist (available at http://www.charlessoft.com/), you can extract the extension from the iTunes 6.0.4 package, copy it into SYSTEM/LIBRARY/EXTENSIONS, and restart your computer. iTunes will now transfer the purchased songs.

  • Song will not transfer to ipod

I subscribe to kexp song of the day podcast but the songs will not copy to my ipod. I recieve a message saying "song not copied to ipod because it can not be played on your ipod", with not explanation why it won't work. I also subscribe to anouther podcast with the same station and it transfers just fine. I have update my classic ipod allready. Any troubleshooting suggestions would be helpfull.

Change the music videos Media Type to Music from under the videos Options tab of the Get Info window in iTunes.
