IPod Songs Not the Same as ITunes

On my ITunes Library, I have several albums that I downloaded from CDs. When I sync my IPod, an album will appear, but only one song from the album is listed. The other seven are not to be found. Why don't all of the songs come up when I search for the album on my IPod. They are on the album when I search for the title in Itunes. Please advise. Thanks

  • Playlists songs not the same in iTunes-iPod Touch (most often played)

I have created some smart playlists based on "most often played" or "most recently played", and the thing is than on iTunes, the playlists' content is correct but when I open the playlist on the iPod Touch, the songs that show up are not the ones supposed to. I tried changing the "most" recently played to "least" recently played, and it worked for the iPod Touch in the way that know I can have the MOST RECENTLY PLAYED songs but actually I'm using the "least recently played" criteria so in iTunes is all the other way around, it really shows the LEAST RECENTLY PLAYED!! What can I do to fix this??? Thank you very much.

There is a 3rd option (besides disabling live updates, or sorting things in reverse): construct a similar 'smart' playlist without using the 'select by' rule. So, for example, if you usually pick the '50 most recently played', create a list of 'played within the past 5 days'. Or instead of the '50 least recently played', try 'last played more than 3 months ago'.
These alternative playlists won't be limited to a fixed size, but they can accomplish similar goals, and they avoid the bug.
Whether this solution is better (or worse) than reverse-sorted playlists depends on your preferences. For me, this works reasonably well (and the lists appear the same in iTunes and on the Touch).

  • IPOD Library not the same as iTunes Library

I just purchased a 30G iPOD, but when I connect/reconnect it to manage my music the options (i.e., date added, size) in the library for the iPOD, after I set them the way I want them, do not stay the same like the iTunes library does, they reset to the default settings.
I also own two iPOD Mini's and the library for these two iPODS always stay as I set them to match the iTunes library. Is this a problem with the new iPODs, or is this normal?
Also, after playing the iPOD it takes me numerous attempts to shut it off, I usually have to go back through the menu's four or five times and return to the main menu before it shuts off. I am not sure if these two problems are related, but I have never ran into these problems with my two Mini's.
    Thanks for any assistance.

  • Ipod songs not showing up in itunes

Although my ipod (5G - new in October) is showing up in itunes, it is not showing any of the songs on it. Today i imported two new CDs into itunes, and then added them onto the ipod - which says it has imported them, but they are not actually showing up on the ipod. I presume these two problems are linked. I have tried reinstalling both itunes and ipod software - but had no luck.... Does anyone know what I can do?

I am adding them as normal via itunes - dragging and dropping as my ipod is set up for manual rather than automatic update. Have been using an ipod for about four years and always done it this way without a problem.
The ipod is showing up in itunes, but as if it is empty (ie no music showing up) despite the fact that it says 25G is being used. Also, all the music i transferred yesterday onto the ipod - which is the only thing showing up as if it is on there when you look at it on itunes - is not actually on there at all....
    It's a mystery!

  • Music sort order not the same as iTunes after syncing

    iTunes 10.5.2.1 and iPhone 4S 5.0.1
Firstly, this is NOT in relation to smart playists, or the smart playlist bug already identified.  I'm having the issue with the fundamental level playlists (ie non-created:  Artist etc) within iPhone.
Can sort in iTunes however I want.  However when synced to iPhone some (not all - seemingly random) artists are out of order compared to iTunes, and some even appear in 2 places.  An example would be Alice Cooper where I have changed "Sort Artist" to Cooper Alice and thus appears in "C" in iTunes.  However appears in "A" in iPhone.  But in other cases Alanis Morissette, where I have also changed "Sort Artist" to Morissette Alanis & appears correctly in "M" in iTunes, appears under both "A" and "M" in iPhone - ie this artist & all songs by this artist appear twice:  under both "A" and "M".
So the problem does not manifest the same way every time.  Near I can guess it seems to occur on songs which I imported with additional information under "Album Artist" - my iTunes is all sorted by "Album by Artist/Year" & this seems to override the information in "Artist" & sort by this first.  So for instance you would have Artist=Alice Cooper, Album Artist=Alice Cooper, and Sort Artist=Cooper Alice.  Even though you have specified that you want to sort by "Cooper Alice", the sorting is based on Album Artist "Alice Cooper" first and it appears in "A".  Deleting the Album Artist info causes iTunes to correctly re-sort into "C".  However iPhone still retains under "A" (or both "A" and "C") after syncing.
So perhaps this is a sync glitch rather than a sort glitch with iPhone?

  • The date last played on my iPod songs stays the same.

I don't know why, the Date Last Played on my iPod songs do not update. Not sure if the number of plays changes, but is there a reason for this? It's an iPod Nano, 5th gen. I think.
    Thanks for any help.

You may try to apply the current iPod updater.

  • Song not the same as the title

My itunes has experienced more than once where the song title is NOT the song being played.  No one but me has access to my itunes so that the info has been changed.  I am certain I loaded this one particular song one.  Went to play it and behold, it is a different song.
Again, this has happened more than once.
Any ideas?  thank you in advance!  quite puzzling to me......
    Russ

Try deleting the whole CD of songs. Highlight all the songs and press Delete.
After you have deleted the CD songs, put the CD in your Mac and when you get the choice of albums choose the one you didn't choose the first time.

  • Since downloading 11.0.1 (12), Itunes can't locate or play many songs but the same songs still play on my synched iPod.

Since downloading Itunes 11.0.1 (12), Itunes can't locate or play many songs but the same songs still play on my synched iPod. I have a MacBook Air, Lion OS, Itunes version 11.0.1 (12).  I didn't see this problem with older versions of Itunes.  I do not manually change the organization of the Itunes library.  I use the Itunes "add to library" feature or Amazon's MP3 downloader.  Sometimes, however, I have changed song information in the "info" window.  Such as unchecking the "compilation" button and sorting by artist (for that song), so that I can search by artist in the top pane of Itunes (otherwise the song is sorted in an album that is a "compilation," but not under the name of the artist who sang a particular song.  I've done this without problem in the past, but perhaps the newer version of Itunes can't handle the changes I made and has lost track of where the older version of Itunes stored such songs?    How do I fix all these older previously ok changes if that's the case...  If I could just find where they are stored in Itunes it would be easier perhaps.  I've looked in compilations, unknown artist, and so forth to no avail.  And Finder search can't find them.
Details: suddenly, many songs are marked with "!," denoting that Itunes cannot find the songs in the library and cannot play them. Oddly, my iPod CAN play the "unlocatable" songs with no problem (it has been synched "post problem").  So the songs are still there somewhere in the Itunes library.  This problem occurs by album, that is, all songs from the same album become unlocatable, although different albums by the same artist may still be found and played.
Exploring the Itunes library to try to locate the missing albums/songs, I discovered that generally there is no longer any folder specified for any artist associated with a missing album [artist is the top level of organization and album is the second; compilations are in the same folder]. This is true even if I have other albums from the same artist which Itunes IS able to locate.  I cannot find a single song/album by such artists anywhere in the Itunes file system, even the ones that Itunes can still play.  If I right click and "get info" for an unlocatable song, I get a notification box that asks if I want to locate the file.  If I click "no," next thing-- the info window for the song pops up, with all the correct info (including sort info, which I double check)!  Why is Itunes able to locate all the info on the song, but is not able to play the MP3 file?
Using Finder I cannot locate the songs that are unlocatable by Itunes (except the original download files in the Amazon MP3 folder).  Finder is, of course, able to find Itunes songs that Itunes has no trouble locating.  What's up?!  My iPod can find them just fine.  I just synched my iPod again and am playing the "unlocatable" songs right now.
I can "fix" most of these files by downloading files one by one into Itunes from my Amazon download folder or from my CDs using the "add to library" feature. In fact, it is strange.  But this will take a very long time!  And what if this problem continues recurring?   But something strange happens when I implement this fix.  I added one song to Itunes (from the Amazon MP3 folder, using "add to library") for one "unlocatable" album of Pete Seegers. After adding that one song, I looked at the Itunes music library and discovered that a folder for Pete Seeger (which was not there before I added the song) had been newly created, or restored.  In this folder was the one song I had just added, but ALSO all my other Seeger albums that had previously remained "locatable" by Itunes.  But the other "unlocatable" songs were not restored, unfortunately.

I have found a workaround. When I create a new playlist, iTunes allows me to add or remove songs from existing playlists for a short while. Then, for some reason it prevents me from adding and deleting songs again. Not sure why. Go figure.

  • Songs with the same album art not grouped together in iTunes for Windows

Brand new iTunes user here - do not yet have an iPod! (Needed some music only on iTunes)
When I first started up iTunes, it imported all of my music I already had on my computer. A few of them are soundtracks with different artists.
When they are shown in the iTunes library, the soundtracks have been broken up by Artist instead of staying as a whole album. How do I get the songs back together as one album? I found the folder on my computer where they are stored and combined them there, but they are still separate in the iTunes library.
    Thanks from a total newbie!

Mark the tracks on the album as "Part of a compilation" and fill in the Album Artist field as "Various Artists". Click on the first track of your album to highlight it, hold down the shift key and click on the last track to highlight everything in between. Right click on the selection and choose Get Info. You'll get a message asking if you want to edit multiple items, say yes. If you are using iTunes 8 in the box that opens go to the Options tab and change "part of a compilation" to Yes and choose OK.
Also in your library click on the title bar of album column to bring all the tracks in the same album together. If you keep clicking in the title you can choose it to sort by Album, Album by Artist or Album by Year. Clicking on the little triangle on the right side of the column header changes the sort direction. Pointing up and the column is sorted in Ascending order (A to Z). Pointing down and the column is sorted in Descending order (Z to A).

  • With iTunes match, order of the songs in my playlist of mobile devices is not the same as on my computer

In my iTunes on computer, I have several smart play lists. Within each playlist, songs are set to a certain order. Some playlist songs order are organized by name, some playlists are organized by Album, some playlists are organized by artist etc.
When I was syncing my iPhone and iPad directly with my computer, the playlists on my mobile device had same order of songs as on my itunes in computer.
Now, I signed up for iTunes match. With iCloud sync, order of the songs in my playlist of mobile devices is not the same as on my computer. In fact, order of songs within a playlist appears to be completely random. Moreover, order of songs are different in my iPhone 4s and iPad 2
How can I change the order of songs on my mobile devices or how do I make iTunes match to sync my songs such that within a playlist, my songs are in the same order as that of iTunes on my computer.

Thanks mracole. I assume this means order of songs will work with regular play lists I iTunes match. Will try it this afternoon and report.
Please let me know if my understanding is not correct.
Best regards and thanks once again.

  • A lot of my music is on an external Hard Drive, currently "H" drive.  When I try to play a song in the Library in Itunes I get the message that it can't find the music.  Info says it's in a different location "G" Drive.  But it's not. it's in "H" Drive.

What if you take this same topic of an external hard drive with music but instead of directly attached to the computer the music is on a Network Attached hard drive(NAS)? Will I be able to add music to my ipod without any problem? Step that up a notch, will the two computers on my network be able to recognize the music on the NAS? Will the two users be able to create their own playlists and update their ipods independently? Now step up that up one more notch, will I be able to do this with one PC running XP and my macbook with OS X?
Before I run out and buy a NAS I want to be certain. I also would like to convert my DVD library in the future and put it on the network available to an AppleTV or other UpNp media player in the future, because I love having power at my finger tips.

  • Why does iTunes play consecutive songs by the same artist so often?

Is there a way to stop or greatly reduce the issue in iTunes of playing consecutive songs by the same artist when playing in "shuffle" mode?  There was a slide tool in preferences that allowed you to set that to "less likely" or "more likely" but that appears to be gone from iTunes now, or at least I can't find it.  Not that it matters much, the problem was WORSE when they added that "tool" anyway.  It was less likely before they added whatever that algorithm was.  Now this happens constantly that my iPod plays 2 or 3 consecutive songs by the same artist when I am playing it in shuffle mode.  I have over 3500 songs on my iPod but it will usually play only a small percentage of those before starting to repeat also.  It seems to "stick" in a small area of the alphabet when in shuffle mode.  Meaning, it will play artists whose names begin with say L through R and ONLY those artists, then repeat a bunch of them after playing only 20-30 songs.  Everything else seems to be working fine on my iPod but this.  I suspect it's the programming in iTunes but of course, I have no way to prove that and Apple being the quasi Communist gov't type that they are, I can get no answers from them on this or most questions I have.  Maybe somebody here has encountered one of these issues and can offer some resolution?

I wish Apple would just remove the feature that supposedly addresses this issue.  It worked better when there was no setting for this.  I'm just tired of being pencil whipped by Big Brother.

  • Can someone please tell me why when I order an Itunes app. , do I always get charged twice for the same thing.  It has happened on two different occasions.  Does it have anything to do with having 2 different ipods linked to the same account?

Can someone please tell me why when  i order an app on my sons ipod, do I get charged twice for it?   When I tried do report a problem with the charge, it said that I can not get a refund on that item.   This is the second time this has happened to me.   Does it have anything to do with having more then one ipod linked to the same account?   Thanks for any help you can give me!!!

It has nothing to do with have more than one device using that account.
After you purchase it once, you redownload it on other devices by the following, not like purchasing a new app.
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
If you really got charged twice for purchases the same app twice with the same account contact iTunes again by:
Apple - Support - iTunes - Contact Us
Make sure that they are really the same app first.

  • For iTunes Match, how come some songs "match" on an album and other songs on the same album "upload" without matching?

For iTunes Match, how come some songs "match" on an album and other songs on the same album "upload" without matching?  All songs are available on iTunes.  I don't get it!  Any way to manually match songs that iTunes apparently can't match?  I have hundreds in this unmatched state.

Shazam has NO problem determining what these songs are. Maybe Apple needs to consider licensing their technology as it seems MUCH more accurate than what they are doing.
You aren't comparing like with like.
The main task that Shazam has is to identify the name or a track and the artist. I believe that it suggests the album as well, but if it gets that wrong then it doesn't really matter too much.
With iTunes Match, getting the album (i.e. identifying which version it is) is much more important. If it gets that wrong then it breaks up the flow of an album. This makes the task that match has very much harder.
In fact, there is a strong argument to say that currently the problem iTunes has is that it is matching too many songs, resulting in matches from different albums.
I'm sure that match is not struggling to identify whether it has a song or not, but whether it has the correct version of a song. When you introduce different masterings into the process then, depending on the thresholds set, it is probably correct in concluding that it hasn't got a particular version, even if you think it has.
The solution would appear to me to be a tweaking of the matching thresholds along with the ability to force an upload, but we just don't know what restrictions they have (remember that if Shazam gets it wrong the it doesn't present you with a copy of a new track that you didn't have previously). It is almost certainly not just a case of improving their technology.
