Ipod songs won't play! Help!

I just got my Ipod today, and I have 145 songs downloaded on it. I hit play, and the songs won't start. It just does nothing. I've tried resetting and it still doesn't work. Please, can anyone help me? I'm so frustrated!!

If your iPod is frozen or won't turn on, it may be because iPod is paused or the Hold switch is in the locked position. If so, a lock symbol appears on the screen. Slide the Hold switch to the unlocked position and check the screen.

  • My songs won't play HELP!!!

I just purchased a new nano and installed the itune software. I got to the music store and was able to download a song to my library. I double clicked on the song to hear it but it dosen't work. Also I'm unable to preview any songs before purchasing them. I'm really excited about the ipod but I can't hear any of the songs.
Can someone help me with this problem? I have windows XP.

    Hi!
I have recently had the same problem with my 4G iPod apart from mine said all the files were corrupt and would not even link to my computer.
    My recommendations would be:
Connect iPod to computer and if that does not solve the problem try to restore the iPod to it's factory settings. This can be done via iTunes if you have the latest version installed. This will wipe your iPod clean but assuming all your songs are on your computer they will be replaced after the restore.
If that still does not work take a look at this website:

I had to do this to my iPod today and it now works perfectly!
    Hope that helps,

  • Two songs won't play... only two!

There are two tracks on my iPod that won't play. They play on iTunes, but when I select them with my iPod to play, it just jumps back to the main menu. The Apple store near me wants $50 to tell me the answer! Can anyone help?
    Thanks- Greg

In iTunes, use the second set of instructions on this page to check the format of the songs which won't play on the iPod. If they are in an incompatible format, convert them to a format which will play on the iPod.

  • Ipod shuffle won't play tracks in order

My ipod shuffle won't play tracks in order even when I have the shuffle button off. I have sync'd it on itunes to play in order but it just continues to shuffle all the tracks! Please help. Thanks

I found a post about this problem from November, it is apparently how the iPod Shuffle handles podcasts. It sorts them in REVERSE chronological order, and moves them to the top of the play list. It's unbelievable that Apple has let a problem like this persist for so long.
Here is the discussion I mentioned:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=6259808&#6259808
It offers a way to partially fix the problem, but one that I find entirely unacceptable. The only lasting solution mentioned was to buy a different mp3 player, which I'll be doing as soon as I return my Shuffle and get my money back.
The sad thing is that in addition to Apple losing money on the sale of a Shuffle, they're also loosing money on songs I would be purchasing from iTunes (I got a $20 gift certificate for my b-day that I'm going to sell to buy other music that will play on a non-Apple mp3 player), and they might loose potential customers because I've been complaining about this to everybody I know!

Correction, I found a discussion dealing with this from 2005!

  • Often songs won't play again after pausing.

I have a black, 30GB video iPod I got back in October just a little bit after it came out. Up until about a little over a month ago, I had no problems with it. But lately, after I pause a song and turn off the iPod, and when I try to play it again, the song won't play! The "play" icon appears, but there is no progress. I can use all of the other functions, so it doesn't freeze, but the only way to fix it is to restart it, which I am doing most of the time now. According to other posts I've read, a lot of other people have had this problem. Does anybody have any information about this? Any way to fix it? Or does it need to be replaced? Any help at all would be appreciated!

I am having the same problem. What seems to happen randomly, then I wake my iPod it sometimes does not play. I have the time in the title and it reads 12:00AM when the problem occurs. If I return to the main menu and then enter a different playlist the list is empty! Almost as if the iPod is not reading the HD or something. This can happen a dozen times a day or not at all. They only way to get things working again is to reset the iPod. I tried resorting the iPod but the problem continued.
I made a visit to my local Apple Store and got my iPod replaced. I loaded all my content back (which includes music and video from all sources). To my dismay the problem continues. It is my conclusion that is not the iPod hardware (as I first thought). I am now thinking it may be some of the media on the iPod. When I get time I am going to restore the iPod and load it with only a few songs and no video (my music library is over 3,000 songs).
Try putting the time in the title and see if it reads 12:00AM when the problem occurs.
Although the iPod plays great (when it plays!) having to reset the iPod so often is annoying.

Itunes worked after reseting my computer to factory setting however had trouble again after syncing my iPod and iPod shuffle. Is this a coincidence or could it be the cause of the problem?

  • HT1325 tried everything my puchased songs won't play..

If only a small number of songs won't play, delete and redownload them if doing so is free in your country. If all of the protected content won't play, click here and follow the instructions.

  • My Itunes opens on my PC but the songs won't play, I have no idea about what to do?

My Itunes opens on my PC but the songs won't play.  I have no idea about what to do to resolve the issue.  I appreciate any help.  It is an HP computer about a year old running Windows 7.

Try forgetting the network, reboot your iPad and then try joining the network again.
Settings>WiFi>Your network name>Forget this network. Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
Go back to Settings>WiFi>Your network name>Enter your password>Tap Join.
If that doesn't work, reset network settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings. Reboot the iPad again. Go back to Settings>WiFi>Your network name>Enter your password>Tap join.

  • HT3951 I downloaded an album and 2 of the songs won't play

I downloaded an album and 2 of the songs won't play and it's showing that the songs are fully downloaded. I have the latest version of itunes. If anyone knows what the problem is and how to fix it, please help!

Depending upon what country that you are in (music can't be re-downloaded in all countries) then try deleting the incomplete tracks from your iTunes library and redownload them via the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page on your computer's iTunes : re-downloading.
If you aren't in a country where you can re-download music or if they re-download in the same state then try the 'report a problem' link from your purchase history : log into your account on your computer's iTunes via Store > View My Account and you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it ; click on that and you should see a list of your purchases ; find those tracks and use the 'Report a Problem' link (iTunes support should reply within, I think, 24 to 48 hours).
Some people have had a problem with the 'report a problem' link (it's been taking people to this site on a browser instead of showing a form in iTunes) - if it does that to you then try contacting iTunes support via this page : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/- click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page.

  • TS1897 last minutes of songs won't play

The last minute or so of a lot of songs won't play on my laptop or my ipod.  It just skips over it and goes to the next on the list.  I tried restoring my ipod, but it does it on my laptop as well.  Now what?  Any ideas?

Are these tracks you have downloaded from the iTunes Store or were they imported from outside of iTunes?  If they are iTunes downloads, delete them from your library and redownload again at no cost via iCloud.
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Otherwise, you'll need to re-rip or reimport these music into iTunes from its original source.

    Hi Deb,
Deauthorizing all is definitely the way to go.  You will just need to authorize your computer again after, as well as your husband's.
Here's some additional information on deauthorizing all:
