Ipod Starts up, stops, resets, and does it all over again...
Hey all,
I tried searching but couldn't find anything like what I have. I recently purchased a new laptop, swapped my old library onto the new laptop, and then went to 'sync' on the new laptop. Things seemed to be working fine, unplugged the ipod, let it sit for a few hours...went to turn it on and it froze up. Reset it, but now, it loads up, shows the apple symbol (you can hear the HD winding up) gets about 4-5 seconds into it, clicks off, then starts it all over again.
I've been unable to get it to do anything...it won't reset, connecting it to a power source doesn't do anything, and of course, it does this for as long as it can then the battery burns its self out.
Does this sound fixable without bringing it in?
Thanks guys,
Jared
This exact same thing happened to me, and I have a solution. What I did, is I just let it sit out, and do its thing (restarting a bunch) then it eventually went to the main menu. I plugged it into my computer, and did a restore.
Now if that doesn't work for you, you may need to force mount it. Plug the iPod into your computer, and hold down the middle and play/pause button. Hopefully it should stop its nonsense and show up in your computer and let you do a restore in iTunes.
Oh, and welcome to Apple Discussions!

so my computer broke some how and now it wont even turn on i just want to know if i can still have all my old songs and such without buying it all over again or something so please help me oh also my ipod broke so i dont have anything that has my old songs except for the itunes ppl who know all of my songs
You buy one download and one download only, it is your responsibility to backup your music.
it has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer. Use your backup copy to put everything back.
If for some reason you have failed to maintain a backup ( not good), then you can transfer itunes purchases from an ipod: File>Transfer Purchases -
how can i stop Pages and Numbers screen JUMPING ALL OVER the place when i just touch my mouse. i have tried and tried to change the mouse settings - but it is the software. especially Numbers. you can't even see what the page size is until you print. i am so SEASICK! PLEASE HELP.
Thanks for the trouble to reply. this problem only happens with Pages and Numbers for me. i have done all the tricks like restarting. the main problem is that the working space is not 'stable' - it has no 'ends' even on full screen. in Numbers - UNLESS I SET IT TO 25% VIEW (which is way too small) - the actual total 'work space' is way off the grid - so every time i move the mouse the table i am working on zooms off to left or right, at the slightest touch. i have set my mouse to no gestures!
the thing is this did not happen before the latest upgrades.
but thanks anyway. SG.
if you are a techy person - i have another prob. in Mail i am unable to set the SORT / VIEW messages to BY DATE.
(it used to be ok, at one time, too). now it continually reverts to BY SUBJECT oh so annoying !
restarting etc does not change it. resetting preferences does not change it.
maybe i need a new Mac ?
mine is a 27-inch, Mid 2011. running latest. -
Having just installed the latest iTunes update, I find my system grinds to a complete standstill. I've checked and found two apple processes, apsdaemon.exe and applemobiledeviceservice.exe use 90% plus of my processor, so have stopped these. However, each time I start iTunes the same situation occurs. Is there anyway I can remove these exes from my system or is apple aware of this stupid update and what are they doing about it. Any guidance would be very much appreciated
What version of itunes were you using before you updates?
Have you checked other related post?
iTtune will require applemobiledeviceservices.exe and others to run. What you are experencing is usually caused by a conflict with other software on you system. Everybodys system is set up differently, so there is not a "one fix all". Most commonly associated with Firefox addons, video accelerator software, podcasts on the backup, anivirus software, parential control software, take you pick!
I found my fix here.

please help!!!!!!
Maybe:
Restore loop (being prompted to restore again after a restore successfully completes)
Troubleshoot your USB connection. If the issue persists, out-of-date or incorrectly configured third-party security software may be causing this issue. Please follow Troubleshooting security software issues. .
Next try placing in DFU mode and then restoring.

Will the product key i used still work again after reinstalling? Is there any SAFE way to expand the bootcamp partition size?
If you look in your other posting you will see that I already gave you the answer.

Hi Guys,
My computer crashed and I lost everything. I got a new one and downloaded itunes all over again. When I plug my ipad in even after authorising my computer it will still not let me edit anything on the ipad. The screen is grey like on the ipad section and i cant select an app or anything. I have transfered purchase apps but all it does is take movies and tv shows accross. It wont transfer the apps into itunes. Please helpAs far as I know, iTunes will still not change anything until you click on Apply in the lower right corner. I fiddle with my settings all the time - just so I can get a sense if what to expect should I make any changes - and I have never seen anything happen to my configuration unless I click on Apply in the lower right corner of iTunes. Not only that - you have turned off auto sync so as far as I know you still have to click on sync or apply in order for the iPad to sync with iTunes.
That doesn't mean it will not happen, I've never seen it happen - is all that I'm saying. I'm sorry but I'm not sure what will happen, but the only reason that I can of why the apps will not transfer is because of the manual manage setting. I could be wrong about that as well.
Look at this discussion - which I have referred quite a few users to read. I know this process has worked for a number of people that have read it and used the instructions in it. Maybe we are missing something - what that would be - I'm not quite sure, but take a look.

How old is the Ipod? (if it is still under warranty, then send it to Apple service shop)
Are you running Windows iTunes or Mac iTunes?
What do you see on the iPod screen?
My guess is, your iPod classic is more than 2 years old and out of warranty, and the hardisk has gone kaput! and need to be replaced.

My Ipod shuffle 3rd gen starts playing songs with some kind of interference until it stops playing, when I turn it off and on again it starts playing from the first song all over again, and once it sounded like the music was slowing down. First I thought it was the earphones, but I exchanged them for newer ones and so far its the same
You may want to do a Restore on the shuffle in iTunes. The Restore button is on the shuffle's Summary screen in iTunes. This will erase the shuffle, re-install its software, and set it to default settings. If it's a software or data corruption glitch, the Restore should fix it. After the Restore, reload or resync your songs, and try it again. As a test, you may want to initially select a small number of songs to put back on the shuffle.

I have a new 7th gen iPod, I have up loaded the latest iTunes version, I go to the music tab to sync, I click sync and the ipod starts to sync, but it does not sync all the music. It indicates all the songs on the screen, but not on the ipod

I started the update, and in the middle of it, the same previous screen pops up that it can't connect to the ipod, and the ipod screen goes back to "disabled." I waited it out, let the download finish. Then I had to try the process over again, and it started the download all over again, even though I just did that. Another two hours??? This is driving me mad. All for a stupid password ! How do I reset this dang thing, so I can open it. Bad enough I have to re do everything, because I have to restore it. PLEASE HELP !
Just wanted to add that apparently the ipod is disconnecting and reconnecting to the computer somehow. I know because when you plug in the ipod, the computer makes a noise, as with any hardware. Well I click on "restore," agree to the restore, then it starts to download the update. A few minutes later, I hear the computer make the same noise, as if I have disconnected the ipod, even though I haven't even touched the cord. Then it makes the sound again, as being reconnected or plugged in, then the message pops up that it can't be connected, because a password has to be entered. The ipod screen then goes from the restore picture ( the itunes logo with usb cord) to the same "disabled, connect to itunes."
I am not trying a different cord and seeing if that helps the plugged in portion.Do a manual install using the instructions here.
have you download the update/firmware, place the iPod in recovery mode and then update/restore using the instructions in the article.

What RAID Setup do you use for your Macbook Pro Scratch Drive?
Is there any benefit to using an Express-ESata Raid Enclosure vs a single esata drive as the scratch drive? If so, is there any benefit to using a 4 drive Raid 0 vs a 2 drive raid 0? What Raid setups are any of you all using with your MacBook Pro's?
