Been trying to restore Ipod touch for days after updating Itunes. Error code #9. Stuck on restore screen. Tried all the solutions posted. Tried on 2 computers, Vista + XP. No device shown on computer. Thanks Apple! Didn't have this problem before update. How about rolling back your update?

    Error 9
This error occurs when the device unexpectedly loses its USB connection with iTunes. This can occur if you manually disconnect the device during the restore process. You can resolve this issue by using USB troubleshooting, using a different Dock Connector or Lightning Connector to USB cable, trying another USB port, restoring on another computer, or by eliminating conflicts from third-party security software.

  • I2nd Gen Ipod touch lost songs after upgrading to IOS 4.2.1.

I have 2nd Gen Ipod touch and after upgrading to IOS 4.2.1, all the music were wiped out and I can't seem to upload or sync it anymore.  Tried all the fixes out there in the web to no avail.  Appreciate the help.

I am having the same problem.  I tried using a backup from two months ago, all of my music and apps are lost.  However, my iPod DOES remember my settings for the default apps, and my contacts are still there!  Tried any fix I could find to no avail, would certainly appreciate any advice!

  • Day after I got it - stalling at blue screen

    Hi All,
Just got a newly refurbished 20" iMac yesterday. Worked perfectly fine last night.
This morning, I went to turn it on and left it there for a while. Then I came back and it was asleep, and b/c I didn't have much time and didn't remember how to get it out of sleep mode, I simply shut it down.
When I restarted it, it went through the OSX boot up, but then stalled at the blue screen before the login as user comes up. The mouse was appearing and working fine, it's just the screen sat there as blue. I tried restarting again - same thing. Then I tried restarting holding the option key and clicking the hard drive icon when it came up, but still, same thing.
I'm transferring from PCs and was looking forward to a trouble free mac experience, but this is becoming pretty frustrating so far.

Hello, and welcome to the iMac Intel Apple Discussions.
Whenever you force quit a Mac, as you did, you run the risk of damaging the disk directory. If you want a trouble-free experience with a Mac you need to at least allow yourself the time to understand the basics, and not blame the computer for something which you did. The old computer adage even applies to Macs, "Garbage in = garbage out."
If you can boot to the Install DVD, after selecting your language, when the installer appears go to Disk Utility under the Utilities menu. In Disk Utility select your HD, the top listing in the left hand side, and in the First Aid pane press Repair Disk. If it lists any repairs run it until no more repairs are reported. If no repairs are reported, you may need to reinstall the Mac OS. If you have not really installed anything on your Mac which you mind losing, I suggest a complete erase of the HD, writing zeros, and a new custom install. With a custom install you can reclaim about 5 to 6 Gbs if you install only the language resources and printer drivers you need for your Mac. The Custom button will appear at the bottom of the installer as you progress through the install screens. After you press it the installer will show you what is being installed. Press the triangles to show more details. Remove the check mark from printer brands and languages you do not need on your Mac.
If you have installed a lot of personal items on the Mac; photos, music, etc., then you can do an Archive and install, which will install a fresh Macs OS X but preserve all your personal files and settings.
Everyone is friendly and helpful here in the user to user forums, but first impressions set the tone for your experience. You were very dismissive of a brody in his attempt to assist you, "I don't think that's the problem...Anyone else..." He is a very experienced and respected contributor in the Apple Discussions. If folks feel that is going to be your approach to assistance, they will read your problem, see how you treat people and move on without offering any help.

  • Iphone 5s bricked the day after I got it...

I just bought an Iphone yesterday and have hardly even used it. A couple of hours ago I downloaded the latest update for the phone. Seemingly randomly, I try to take my phone out of sleep mode and it wouldn't work. I try powering my phone back on and it also wouldn't work. Itunes also does not recognize my iphone. I'm extremely frustrated and might end up not buying an apple product again. Any help on what I should do here?

If it doesn't power on, the computer will not see it.
Plug it in to charge for at least 30 minutes.
Press & hold both Home & Power fro at least 15 seconds to see if ot starts up.
If not, take it back to place of purchase or an Apple store.

  • How to find my iPod touch after it got stolen

My 5th generation iPod touch has been stolen and it's brand new and I need help finding it.

What To Do If Your iDevice Is Lost Or Stolen
If you activated Find My Phone before it was lost or stolen, you can track it only if Wi-Fi is enabled on the device. What you cannot do is track your device using a serial number or other identifying number. You cannot expect Apple or anyone else to find your device for you. You cannot recover your loss unless you insure your device for such loss. It is not covered by your warranty.

  • Got my ipad2 stolen/lost...

I had recently got my ipad2 stolen/lost, and people have been telling me to find it on icloud, but my ipad was not updated, so i don't have a clue on what i should do.

Unless you installed 'find my ipod' there's really nothing yu can do.
If you installed that app, then you can - theoretically - lock and wipe your device, along with potentially finding it. I say theoretically because find my ipod working is dependant upon the device being on 3G or wifi to be found
Honestly, you will likely never get it back. I'd change your iTunes and any other password that could be stored on the device.
    sorry

  • So i have the ipod touch 4thgen and the speaker stoped working right after i got it and i was dumb and didnt return it because it started to work. but now about a year in it only randomly works like one time every month. that lasts for 10min then stops?

so i got a new ipod touch 4th generation and about three days after the internal speaker stopped working. i was dumb and didn't return it because it worked again for about a month and then stopped. and i was pass the 90 day return time. so i am screwed and now the speaker will work for about 10 minutes every two months so it isnt that handy to me. i know it isn't blown because it will randomly work and when it does i hope it doesn't turn off. i have seen allot of things about this and i think that it is a apple ipod think because allot of other people have this problem. so i think it is great that apple has made these products it is just sad that u pay 200$ for something that breaks after two months. i think they should do a free replacement for any product that has a malfunction because it isn't my fault it is broken and then they expect u to pay another 75$ so they can take it just to give u a refurbished one that will do the same thing.

Walk it into the nearest Apple Store, politely describe your issue and see what they say there.

my ipod touchscreen is unresponsive after my sister got ahold of it. is there somethin i can do to jumpstart the screen or is it ******.

    Try the following:
    - A reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
If you still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order

    - If you previously turned on the FIndMyiPod feature and location service is on, and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud, sign in, and go to FindMyiPhone. It the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
    - Report to police and change the passwords fro all accounts used on the iPod.
    - Apple will not help

There is no way to prevent some one for restoring the iPod and using it themselves./selling it.

  • IPOD Touch died 5 days after purchasing brand new!

Ok, so my old Ipod Classic finally died on me after like 4+ yrs of owning it, so I save up all the cash I can (I'm a single mother, 23 yrs old, in school... basically, can't afford something like this happening), and go buy the Ipod Touch 5 days ago and now it died on me today during the day while I was listening to music. ***!!??? I'm really ****** about this, considering the fact that it's brand new, AND I just can't believe Apple would make such a piece of CRAP! What's going on? Is this common?? Or maybe I just got a dud somehow? Help 'cause I'm really frustrated here... Thanks in advance to any advice!
