IPod stopped completly!!! Help!!!

My iPod Video, ive had it for around 6 months, just stopped working
I turned it on, and it displays the song screen as that was what it displayed when i last turned it off, but it is completly frozen on this screen. It wont play, change screen, turn off, reset or do anything, if i plug it into my computer, the computer doesnt pick up that it is connected.
What is wrong with my iPod and how can i fix this???
Help!!!!

In some cases, the iPod might get into a state in which the battery needs to be drained before it can be reset so try these steps.
1. Disconnect iPod from all power sources and leave it disconnected for about 24 hours.
2. Reconnect iPod to the Apple iPod Power Adapter or the computer and reset it.

Are you?  If still under warranty or you have Apple Care why not let them deal with it.  Why should you?

I, too, am having this problem with my classic today. It's just begun stopping itself once on each song I play today. I press the middle Select button to start it again, but this is getting very annoying! I haven't tried anything on mine today.
EDIT: I just realized that it's now doing this more than once per song. I just had this happen three times in a single 4 and half minute song. Any clues?

  • Ipod stops syncing

I have had some playback issues with my iPod Touch. Connecting it and syncing does not fix the problem. I decided to delete all my music from my iPod and just re-sync it all together. While syncing, it stops at step 3-finding purchased items. It still says it it syncing, but it has not changed for about an hour. I just want my music back without restoring my iPod! Please help!

Yep. I'm having this problem, too. Brand new ipod, brand new Macbook, and it's like they can't talk to each other. I plug in the ipod and it freezes. I reset it so it's working again, then iTunes freezes. Can't update anymore. Getting frustrated...
What was the resolution you found, by the way?

  • Ipod stops after each track ends in a playlist?

I have a problem: Suddenly, my ipod stops after each track ends in a playlist.  This happens with every playlist and every track, all of which worked fine until this week.  All tracks' settings are "yes" on 1) part of a compilation; 2) remember playback position and; 3) skip when shuffling.  I have not updated any software or added any new content to my ipod.  I imagine that some setting has been switched on or off, but I am unable to identify which one.  Please help as these are my audio books!  Thanks!

I have an iPod Classic (I am fairly new to the medium) and when playing music the Pod goes smoothly from one song to the next but, when listening to a book (brought in from a CD copied into iTunes) it plays one track and stops.
See below for a link on how to copy a CD into iTunes if you want an Audibook.
I have tried checking the gap less album box (what is that for by the way) but it makes no difference.
If you've heard of Dark Side of The Moon by Pink Floyd then it's used there when you want no break between tracks. Or any DJ mixed continuos play CD. Or some classical music. Take your pick
Third question, can I make a book copied into iTunes an Audiobook? How?

  • IPod stops playing when using Safari

Ever since I updated to 1.1.2, everytime I'm listening to the iPod and open Safari to surf, the iPod stops playing after about a minute or two. The song isn't over, and its not at the end of the playlist. The music doesn't fade out either, like its receiving a call or email. Just straight up cuts out. I tried restarting the phone, which helped the first time, but now it starting doing it again. I've searched for answers elsewhere, to no avail. Thanks!

I had heard about this for quite awhile, but never experienced it. Then the other day I was sitting outside an Apple Store, listening to some music and decided to take advantage of the free wifi for a moment. Suddenly every song would stop everytime a page loaded or a I used the back button. Totally reproduceable.
I held down the start/off button and turned off my iPhone, waited a few seconds, turned it back on, and the problem went away -- at least for the time beling.
Sorry I don't know a permament solution, but that did work for me.

  • Ipod stops playing after each podcast

When I play music, each song plays one after the other like you expect. When I play my podcasts after each one the ipod stops and goes back to menu screen. How do I get it to play the podcasts one after the other like songs? Is this a setup item I missed? Thanks for any help.

The iPod does not use folders like you do in Windows or Mac OS. They are invisible to the user.
You are not explaining yourself very well or you have never used an iPod.
I don't understand how using folders will make it easier than it already is.
If everything is in folders and you do not use playlists, then you have to move everything around into folders to listen to specific music.
I never said playlists were cumbersome but they are sometimes ineffective. Some times you don't want a certain rating or a certain grouping but maybe you just want to listen to one album in order or one podcast.
So select that album or that one podcast and press play.
It's much easier to find that podcast or album by name then it is to scroll through thousands of entries to find the starting title of the group.
Why don't you do it this way now?
    I go to
Music -> Albums -> pick one and play
Music -> Podcasts -> pick one and play
That's what the problem was last week I would go to artists choose the artist then the album and then it would play one song and skip to the top menu.
That seems to have been a glitch.
I go to Music -> Artist -> Album and press play. It plays the entire album with all the songs in album in order.
It did it for every album and every song I chose every day of the trip a couple weeks ago and yes they all have there check boxes selected in iTunes.
The check box is used only if you want to use Update only checked songs in iTunes prefs -> iPod. Once the songs are on the iPod, this option has nothing to do with th eiPod.

  • 5th Gen ipod stopped working , connected to Alpine CDA117

Out of nowhere the ipod stopped working when hooked directly to the Alpine CDA117.
It worked this morning when I pulled out of the driveway and drove to my shop . I did not unplug it when I arrived, it stayed in the car hooked up as it does often.
When I got back in the car about 2 hours later it was not working . It recognizes the ipod , shows the song , playlist etc but no volume and it's not "playing" so it's sort of on "pause", but not showing that it really is "paused"
Apple looked at it , thought there might be some dust on the contacts , cleaned it , tried it in the store and it worked fine both with earbuds and through speakers.
It works in my wife's car via the same hookup.
My wife's ipod works in my car hooked up just as mine would be .
The guy at Best Buy who hooked it up , hooked his up and his worked fine.
Firmware is up to date .
I literally did nothing to it once I arrived and my shop and then got back in the car 2 hours later.
    Help me !
I have a 3 hour ride up to the Berkshires on Saturday and will go bonkers without my music .

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • I am Offically done with the IPOD... 3rd Dead Ipod.. HELP

It is amazing that this piece of hardware, something that is not cheap by any standards, can be so faulty and problematic. Two days ago my IPod died unexplainably. At least I think. I was having trouble mounting it and what not so I decided to restore it and after that i got the dreaded folder icon. I tried and tried to restore to no avail. I took it to the apple store and in that time span it completely died, wouldnt respond to a charge or a computer. Dead as a door nail. The "genius" told me that basically I was "S.O.L" and directed me to a 3rd party. Im not going to pay for something that I have replaced twice. This Ipod was only 4 months old but it was a replacement for thelast one that I got that had battery issues and the one before this, a 1st gen, had the hard drive fail. I dont get this product. 300 dollars down the drain. Unless someone knows a cheap, effective way to fix this problem I may be done with the Ipod line. Thank you for listening to this rant.

    To Lyssa:
In response to your request for a link, about wall charging an iPod and damage to the iPod, if the wall charger is not unplugged first, here it is:
    http://www.vsa.cape.com/~danh/ipod.htm
It's about 3/4 the way down the page, in the Charging fact and Fiction section, forth fact. Here's a quote:
Fiction: Be sure to unplug after four hours on charge. At that point the battery starts running down because the charger shuts off.
Fact: The iPod stops charging once the battery is full. But there is no need to take it off the charger right away. In fact, the only mandatory reasons to disconnect are to take the iPod with you, or to make sure the battery gets some exercise. A recent post suggests, however, that if you turn off AC power to the charger but leave it hooked up, it could drain the iPod's battery. I have not tried this. By the way, best practice is to plug the iPod into the cable (or dock) and the cable into the charger, then plug the charger into the wall. We have two documented cases of problems caused by the surge when you do it the other way around. After charging, always unplug from the wall first.
As far a head phones, I avoid any that have a 1/4 jack that needs a mini jack adaptor. Any head phones that come with a mini jack are fine.

    Hello Ronald,
I would be concerned too if my iPod was not recognized by iTunes.  I found a couple of articles that might help with this.
If you don't see your iPod in the My Computer section of Windows, follow the steps in this article:
iPod not recognized in 'My Computer' and in iTunes for Windows
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1369
If Windows recognizes your iPod but iTunes does not, follow the steps in this article:

Thank you for posting in the Apple Support Communities.

  • 160gig  iPod Stopping After 2 or 3 Songs

My iPod would just stop after 2 or 3 songs when I'm listening to it on "shuffle songs," an album or a playlist. It happens when I listen to CDs that I ripped, albums that I bought from the iTunes store and DRM-free albums that I bought online.
At first, I thought it was a problem with ripped CDs and some kind of copy protection, but then I started noticing this for EVERYTHING, even when I put podcasts into "On the go" playlists.
    Should I update my iPod/iTunes?
    Help? Please?
Also, is the 160gig supposed to be laggy? Or is it the album artwork slowing things down?

I too have a problem with my Classic 160GB version where a song will play and the unit will just shut off. Usually this happens while I'm charging it and playing it through a dock but not totally all the time that way. I start it back up again and often that corrects it but sometimes it takes several restarts. This is a problem that I don't see Apple addressing. I can't update my unit also due to an error code 1430 so I've contacted Apple to create a service issue

  • IPod Trouble - Please Help

    I NEED DESPERATE HELP!!!!
I have a first generation iPod Shuffle, which seems to be having heaps of problems. The first thing that went wrong with it is that when I connected it to the computer, at first it would appear in the source (I think that is what its called, down the left hand side of iTunes along with library and everything) but when I clicked on it, it would disappear and say that it was not connected. This meant that I could not put any new songs on my iPod.
Now, not only can I not put any new songs on my iPod, but it wont play the old ones. Instead of playing songs, the light above the controller will continue to flash green and orange.
i have tried every website mentioned in the users guide and have searched through this website a million times. My iPod is registered, I have iTunes version 7.0.2, and the software version on my iPod is 1.1.5, but the computer says my iPod is completely updated. I have tried to do something with the disk that came with my iPod, but I dont really know what I'm doing and I dont think anything happened. I dont know how to reinstall my iPod, and I have tried restarting my computer.
My iPod will not show up on My Computer, and sometimes it shows up on iTunes only to say I should try to restore it. Every time I try to do this, the computer says it cant due to error 1418. My iPod is nearly two years old but it has been well looked after.
I really have no idea what I am doing and dont know much about computers or iPods. Any help will be greatly appreciated, but you will probably have to tell me exactly what to do because I have no idea.
    Thanks everyone.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all music and resync
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.

I have had FPCX since Sept, first used Oct.  I have not had one 'movie' export properly, first time since using FPCX.  Audio stops completely at some point and does not re-start.  Any ideas, folks?

First, I suggest you limit the subject line of your question to a few words which will help someone identify the problem you are encountering. Putting the entire question there looks as though you are shouting.
It would help anyone to identify your problem if you were to say what video codec (file format) you are using, and describe the method you are using in your attempts to export it.
You could also list any relevant error messages you encounter.
What version of FCP X are you using?
All these things will make it easier for people to help you.
