  • Ipod stopped working with iTrip

My iPod stopped working with my iTrip very mysteriously. I left it in the car for 2 hours (as I always do at work) and it worked when I left and wouldn't work when I went to drive home. I've replaced the iTrip and know that it works with another iPod (identical to mine and bought at the exact same time).
Does anyone know if there's way to fix this?

I just started having issues with my iPod as well. It is paired with my JVC receiver through an iPod adapter. I can normally control my iPod through the JVC once it is connected, but the last few days I have had to control it through the iPod itself. The screen on the receiver says connecting, but never does unless I do manually.( pressing play on the iPod). I can still see song titles, but no control. IE pause, next or previous songs. Nothing seems to work, and have treid powering both off then back on. Is this an update issue that wont let them pair anymore? I also tried a friends iphone and seemed to work fine with the JVC, so the receiver is not the issue.

  • 5th Gen ipod stopped working , connected to Alpine CDA117

Out of nowhere the ipod stopped working when hooked directly to the Alpine CDA117.
It worked this morning when I pulled out of the driveway and drove to my shop . I did not unplug it when I arrived, it stayed in the car hooked up as it does often.
When I got back in the car about 2 hours later it was not working . It recognizes the ipod , shows the song , playlist etc but no volume and it's not "playing" so it's sort of on "pause", but not showing that it really is "paused"
Apple looked at it , thought there might be some dust on the contacts , cleaned it , tried it in the store and it worked fine both with earbuds and through speakers.
It works in my wife's car via the same hookup.
My wife's ipod works in my car hooked up just as mine would be .
The guy at Best Buy who hooked it up , hooked his up and his worked fine.
Firmware is up to date .
I literally did nothing to it once I arrived and my shop and then got back in the car 2 hours later.
    Help me !
I have a 3 hour ride up to the Berkshires on Saturday and will go bonkers without my music .

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

    My iPod stop working...
I load my pictures in and now my screen shows only red letters and nothing else!!!
    what should I do?
    pachy

I did try that by doing everything the manual book said:
    1. connect iPod to a power outlet using the iPod Power adapter (I did)
    2. Toggle the hold switch on and off...yes I did turn on and off and on and off..
    3. press and hold the select and menu buttons..for at least 6 seconds (I did 1 min and nothing happened still) until the apple logo appears.
Besides the software failure, the power is still on ... and I CAN'T TURN IT OFF neither!!!!!
what other alternate tips or troubleshooting ...are there that will solve this problem? Thank you
Do I really need to make an appointment and go down to Genius BAR?
Thank you again and please help me

My ipod stopped working a few years ago, it said i had to connect to itunes to restore, as i then got an iphone i never bothered to sort it, I am now trying to and hwne i connect to itunes it says it must be restored, After ive restored it nothing happens, at first it says "ipod has been restored and is restarting, it will appear in the itunes window once it has restarted" so i wait but nothing happens and eventually it comes up with the same message telling me the ipod needs to be restored?

Errors when updating leads to corrupt system files and this may be your problem. If you're using windows, connect your device to PC and run any third party app like Syncios. If it detects, you maybe in luck and try to back-up your data if possible. I hope that it won't and if doesn't, there is no other way to recover files. You should be restoring with iTunes and all data will be erased, or else your device may become unusable.

  • Ipod stopped working since downloading itunes 7

    Hi all,

Oh i have the ipod 4G.

    Robert

I had the same problem- same iPod. I had to restore the iPod.
What actually fixed it was iTunes 7.02 update.
Have you had a 1418 error? There's a technote for that problem now.

    Try the standard fixes:
    - Reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory defaults/new iPod
If still problem then time for an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • IPod stopped working long after exposed to water

My ipod was half submerged in water, so I dried it off and pressed the home button (I figured if it was turned off pressing the home button wouldnt turn it on and wouldn't fry it) and it worked fine. Until I plugged in the headphones and then the screen stopped working but the iPod itself did. Then the next day it worked completely fine, but today it doesn't work at all. What can I do to fix it?

Take it to the Apple Store where you can exchange it for a similar but refurbished phone of the same model and year. Look in the following for costs:
If your iPod Touch, iPhone, or iPad is Broken
Apple does not fix iDevices. Instead, they exchange yours for a refurbished or new replacement depending upon the age of your device and refurbished inventories. On rare occasions when there are no longer refurbished units for your older model, they may replace it with the next newer model.
ATTN: Beginning July 2013 Apple Stores are now equipped to do screen repairs/replacements in-house on iPhone 5 and 5C. In some cases while you wait. According to Apple this is the beginning of equipping Apple Stores with the resources needed to do most repairs for iPhones, iPads, and iPod Touches that would not require major replacements. Later in the year the services may be extended as Apple Stores become equipped and staffed with the proper repair expertise. So, if you need a screen repaired or a broken screen replaced or have your stuck Home button fixed, call your local Apple Store to see if they are now doing these in-house.
You may take your device to an Apple retailer for help or you may call Customer Service and arrange to send your device to Apple:
Apple Store Customer Service at 1-800-676-2775 or visit online Help for more information.

You will find respective repair costs in the appropriate link:

There are third-party firms that do repairs on iDevices, and there are places where you can order parts to DIY if you feel up to the task:
    1. iResq or Google for others.

  • 2nd Gen Ipod Stopped Working For No Reason :/!

Basically, i've had my ipod for about 2-3 years and today it suddenly stopped working. By this i mean, its off and i can't turn it back on!
I can see a small light on the top right corner of the screen but that is all.
Also you know where u put the charger in? at the bottom of the ipod? that smells a tiny bit of burnt!
I dont know whats happened, i haven't dropped it or slipped water all over it! Please Help! i got this given as a gift so i dont know if there is any warranty!

    Try here:

If not successful, yu probably have a hardare problem.  Maybe a dead battery.  I would make an appointment at the Gnius Bar of an Apple store.  It is free except for your time.

  • 4th gen ipod stopped working

I have a 4th gen ipod that stopped working. I had it playing in the car on a charger, after making a stop it wouldn't work again. It did flicker for a few minutes, but no sound. It won't charge and the computer won't recognize it and it won't reset. So how do I determine if it is the battery or the logic board?

Need some additional info to help.
When you connect it to your Mac, does it show the iPod icon on the desktop?
What does it show on the iPod screen when you connect to the Mac?
if it shows the "Don't disconnected" screen, then it is your battery is dead. leave it charging for about 4 hours and Reset the iPod, to see if iTunes sense it, while still connected.
If you Ipod works after charging 4 hours, then your car docking system charger is kaput!
or else time to replace the iPod battery.
    Good luck!

  • Ipod stopped working - screen still on showing played song but locked up

My ipod was working nicely through a docking sound system when it got to the end of a track and stopped working. the screen is fully illuminated, showing the next track at a time of 0:00 but nothing is working. No response to any buttons, no response to docking into itunes, no response to any of the "locked" suggestions on the apple website. The website lock faults are all if the ipod won't come on however mine is on but won't do anything. Anyone know any reset ideas ? I'm stuck!!! Kev
    (It's a 30gb and I think it's a classic)

Thanks. I tried that and it did unfreeze the screen. When it starts back up it gives me this website (www.apple.com/support/ipod)alternating between 'Please Wait Very Low Battery'. This could be because is was on while it was frozen.
Any thoughts for a next step?

  • Why did my iPod stop working?

My new fifth gen ipod is barely a few weeks old and already is having trouble. Previously it wouldn't turn on, and resetting it worked, but now the same thing is happening but without anything working. I tried the five R's and EVERYTHING else the apple support site suggested. NOTHING has worked. Is there anything I can do?

If the 5Rs haven't helped and you really tried EVERYTHING apple suggested, you might want to consider sending your iPod to Apple for repair/replacement.
It's unfortunate, but there's always a possiblility that yours is defective.

  • My earphones that came with the ipod stopped working, can they be returned?

So I purchased this 7th gen ipod from the apple store, and it was working great for awhile. One day I powered it on to listen to music and I could hardly hear out of them, so I twisted them so see if they were plugged in wrong but they were not. I also had the volume all the way up and could barely hear it. Will apple send me news ones if it is still under warranty?

This maybe because there is a piece of tissue, crumbs... ect in the earphone hole.
Try getting stuff out, if there is nothing there... I got nothing.
    Hope this helps,
    Max
