IPod stops playing in the middle

I recently got a new laptop and moved all my media from the old to the new.  I deauthorized the old computer and authorized the new one.  New computer is running iTunes on Windows 8.
Any song that I purchased from iTunes will not play correctly on my iPod classic.  They stop middway through and there is silence for another 10-30 seconds, and then it goes to the next song on the playlist.
I have reset the iPod to factory settings and reloaded all the songs and videos.  Twice.  I still have the problem.
The affected songs play just fine on the computer.
As far as I can recall, everything worked just fine when I was using iTunes on the old computer (Windows Vista).
I have a lot of music that I've purchased from iTunes.  If I have to reload everything from the cloud, I will have to delete the existing versions of the songs and replace them with the downloaded version.  If I'm not mistaken, in the process of doing this, the songs will disappear from any playlist in which they appeared.  I have a lot of playlists (I'm a spinning instructor).
Is there a fix for this?

I'm having this exact problem now with an iPhone 4 (not the 4S) and running software 6.1.3 with iTunes version 11.0.4.4. - The songs play fine in iTunes. In some instances I brought in the songs from CDs, in other instances I purchased from the iTunes store meaning I can't simply convert them. In either way they play silence on my iPhone around halfway through and for the remainder of the track.
I have attempted a full restore from a backup, and then reloaded all of my music, same songs, same problem. I don't feel a manual restore would help because that means reprogramming every single app, and the music would be reloaded the same way so what difference could that make?
Just to add insult to injury my protection plan ran out about 2 weeks ago and my phone otherwise works fine, so this can't possibly be worth purchasing another pricey plan just to be allowed to TALK to Apple.

This has just started to happen, I'll be listening to a song and it'll just stop playing. I'll unlock the "hold" switch and it'll continue playing.
Should I go to an Apple store and seek help or is this a known issue with an easy fix?

Should I go to an Apple store and seek help
Yes if you have tried all the solutions mentioned in the iPod Nano 5th Gen. User Manual and the iTunes & iPod Hints & Tips website.
or is this a known issue with an easy fix?
If it is search for the "fix" article - http://support.apple.com/kb/index?page=search

  • IPod stops playing in the middle of any song

I recently dropped my iPod (black and white screen with click wheel, 20 GB) and the front seperated from the back. It easily snapped back in place, but now when the earphone jack moves while plugged up, it pauses. I know that it is supposed to pause when earphones are unplugged while playing, but not while it is still fully plugged in. I am not under warranty from Apple anymore. Anyone with any suggestions or options please respond.

Even if you were under Apple's warranty, they probably wouldn't fix it for you because it was dropped. Anyway... sounds like the iPod is pausing because the headphones are coming out (like you said). Now, I'm not too sure about the anatomy of the 3rd generation iPods. If you mean that there is a problem with the headphone jack staying in place in the iPod... you might want to try putting your iPod into a skin case, to keep the jack still in the iPod. This might prevent (or at least lessen) the problem.

  • IPod classic stops playing in the middle of a song

I've had the same iPod classic for seven years.  It still works very well, except that lately it stops playing in the middle of a song.  I have to hit "play" for it to start playing again.  Sometimes it will go for only ten seconds between stops, other times it will play just fine for several minutes before stopping.  The song that I'm playing doesn't affect the stops.  This only happens when I'm running, so I'm wondering if maybe the vibrations from running are what's causing it.
Does anybody have any suggestions for what I could do to fix this?  I've tried restoring the iPod, and that didn't affect anything.  I always keep the battery fully charged.

  • Songs stop playing in the middle of the track

Ok, so I've got hundreds on songs in my library and I noticed that certain songs stop playing in the middle of the song on my iPod. I get dead air, and then it starts playing the next song on the list even though the screen still shows the album art of the song that died. I have deleted the song from my player and then re-downloaded the song straight from iTunes only to have it happen again. I decided to run a little test and play that track on both my iPhone (3GS) and iPod (iPod Touch bought 2013) and sure enough, the song dies around the exact same time on both devices. I did not try syncing either devise to my computer (music files are not on my computer hard drive, but on a separate hard drive), so it wasn't like I kept removing and syncing a corrupted file. Now I'm finding more and more tracks have this same issue. So I have two questions:
1.) Is there a way to identify corrupted music files on my devices or will have to listen to each track in it's entirety to identify whether it is corrupted or not?
2.) Will I need to repurchase these tracks in order to correct the problem of playing in it's entirety?

I have similar problem on two photo sleeks - affecting the same songs. I think it is a problem in the ripping of the CDs rather than the hardri'ves - otherwise it would affect different songs?

  • Music stops playing in the middle of my song

All types of music I play (YouTube, purchased etc. ) just stops playing in the middle of the song and still has the pause button as if the music was still playing. This isn't the first problem I've had with the iPhone recently. My camera had condensation in it at what point and no water had gotten on the phone. Also, my lol button recently stopped working and it isn't stuck or anything. I don't understand why there has been so many issues with the phone. I take very good care of it and I have a lifeproof on it.

    - First place the iPod in a sealed container/bag of rice for a couple of days. Change the rice daily. Do not turn on or charge before it is dry.
    - The try the standard fixes, reset and restore, including restoring to factory defaults/new iPod.
    - Try both headphones and speaker.
    - If no usccessful then the water caused permenent damage to the iPod and service is required.

It is as if someone press the pause button even i am not doing anything to it.. i don't know what to do, i tried the restoration process but it still stops playing .. Please help me

Hello all... i was having a horrible issue with my iPhone seemingly shuffling at random. So frustrating until I turned off the "shake to shuffle" option... I think most new iPods and iPhones have this feature in settings... good luck.

  • IPod Color (4th Generation) Stops Playing in the Middle of Songs

Okay, maybe I'm looking for an excuse to get a new iPod. I really don't want to, but my two and half year old iPod Color (4th generation) is starting to act funky.
Starting yesterday, for no reason in the middle of songs it goes into pause mode on its own. The display is still on, the song it was playing is still listed. It's just like I pushed the pause button, but the iPod did it on its own without me touching it. I wasn't running or shaking it and I've done a hard reset. But, it still does it on purchased songs and imported songs. Battery is fully charged. It's driving me nuts.
Anyone have this problem? A solution?

I have the same iPod and the same problem. And it's getting worse. Also, I've noticed that at least one album in particular seems to "crash" it or whatever this is. However, that crashing happens at different times with different songs on that album. The only consistency is that that album at some point crashes it. Other crashes appear to be random.
It normally only requires that I toggle the locking switch and then hold down the center button and the menu button simultaneously for a few seconds (5? 10? I forget, but it's thereabouts.) Usually it then works, but sometimes it thinks its fully charged battery is dead and shuts down. Then I plug it in for a bit and it's all fine.
Sometimes in iTunes after one of these episodes iTunes tells me it is corrupted and I need to reset it and reimport all my music. I think it's lying to me when this happens but I do it anyway.
Most recently this crash thing happened again and the holding-buttons-down trick worked to shut it off but then it wouldn't turn back on. The dark Apple logo at start-up would appear then it would give me an icon of an iPod with a sad face, a triangle sign with an exclamation mark and the url for the iPod support site. Then shut down. Most troubling with this episode is that when I plugged it into my computer, iTunes would no longer recognize that it was there nor would Finder.
But, I just fixed it by trying the bang the top corner hard on the table (seriously, it works). And that did the trick.
Mostly I figure it is slowly dying and it won't be long until none of these tricks work anymore. So I relish every moment with it and secretly hope it does die soon so I have an excuse to get a newer, fancier one.

  • Song from iTunes stops playing in the middle, only on iPod...

I have a song I purchased from iTunes.  It plays all the way through on my PC, no problem.  But when I try to play it on my iPod, it stops at the same point, every time, about half way through the song.  I'm guessing it's a bad sync, but I'm not sure how to resync just one song.  What is the best way to do that?  And does it sound like my assessment is correct?  Thanks.
    Andrea

How you remove and resync that one track depends on how your iPod is set up to sync music from your iTunes library.  For example, you have your iPod configured to sync only checked songs and videos, simply remove the tick mark next to the song in your main iTunes library and then resync your iPod.
It might not be a bad idea to try and convert it to another format as well to see if that resolves the issue. Here is more on converting the track using iTunes.

  • Ipod nano 7th gen stops playing in the middle of song

Ipod nano 7th gen stops playing song randomly while listening. What gives?

i think i FINALLY solved the problem - by simply switching the wire that connects my ipod to my computer (i was using a firewire, and switched to a usb).
Did you by any chance have the iPod connected through a hub , or through another device, G?
Its not uncommon to have issues like this occur if , for example, you have a firewire device equipped with a "Prolific" 3507 firewire bridge . THese are found in many cheap external FW enclosures used for external burners and HD's , for example. The only real solution is to disconnect all such devices to avoid interruptions on the FW bus. (or, at least with the iPod, you can simply use USB2 instead).
    Cheers

  • New ipod 30 gig 5th gen. Stops playing in the middle of songs

My brand new device stops playing a song. It does not matter if the hold button is onor not. The display still shows the song. I hit the play button and it continues. Might work for 5 seconds or five songs. No rhyme or reason. I have done the 5 R's, but it does not solve the problem. Any advice?

  • TS1362 on my i phone the songs stop playing in the middle and skip sometimes and at other times the song stops and restarts playing from the beginning.  what is wrong

on my iphone 4 the songs skip in the middle and also stop playing mid song and restart from the beginning and it happens over and over and the song never completely finishes.  I dont know what to do

If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copies of the dodgy tracks and try redownloading fresh copies. For instructions, see the following document:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Otherwise, I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the items that are not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the items, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" links next to the items.

  • IMovie audio just stops playing in the middle of creating a project.

I have several photo slideshows to which I'm adding music. Several times during the creation of a project my audio selections stop playing back with the slideshow.     I am shortening and/or lengthen the music selections through the Clip Trimmer.  It seems, however, if I do this many times trying to get just the right selection of the music, all audio stops playing back.  It's almost as if I overload the program with too many changes before finalizing the project. Eventually, the project seems to reload and the music is back but then photos and music don't sync. Also, the music will only play in full screen mode and not in the project window.   Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a solution?

Try creatint a new project in iDVD and drag the QT movie into the menu being careful to avoid any drop zones. Then follow this workflow to help ensure the best quality final product:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the  File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option.  This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image and launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding was good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.

  • Song stops playing in the middle and goes on to the next song...

I tried downloading the most recent itunes version, but my CPU says theres an error...so yeah...going on:
This one song I recently bought form itunes: "A*s Itch" by KoRn will play fine until it hits -1:42 and moves on to the next song (or restarts the song on repeat).
It's happened before, to other songs that is, but it usually just fixes itself. If there is a way to fix it WITHOUT needing to update itunes (since my CPU won't let me)then any advice or directions to fix it would be grateful.

I have a bunch of songs imported from CD that are now much shorter than the originals; hundreds of songs are cut off. A song may be 3-4 minutes long, but iTunes shows it's only 45 seconds, whether played on iPod or iTunes. The only way I can see to fix it is to re-import each CD. Unfortunately, I have about 1,000 CD's. Any suggestions?
