IPod stops playing

IPod touch stops playing after a minute. Have to unlock and press play again. Anyone know how to fix?

Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Unsync all music and resync
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: How to back up
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • IPod stops playing when using Safari

Ever since I updated to 1.1.2, everytime I'm listening to the iPod and open Safari to surf, the iPod stops playing after about a minute or two. The song isn't over, and its not at the end of the playlist. The music doesn't fade out either, like its receiving a call or email. Just straight up cuts out. I tried restarting the phone, which helped the first time, but now it starting doing it again. I've searched for answers elsewhere, to no avail. Thanks!

I had heard about this for quite awhile, but never experienced it. Then the other day I was sitting outside an Apple Store, listening to some music and decided to take advantage of the free wifi for a moment. Suddenly every song would stop everytime a page loaded or a I used the back button. Totally reproduceable.
I held down the start/off button and turned off my iPhone, waited a few seconds, turned it back on, and the problem went away -- at least for the time beling.
Sorry I don't know a permament solution, but that did work for me.

  • IPod stops playing and gives apple symbol with weird colors.

My IPod was in my pocket for only about 2 minutes and it stopped playing music and gave me a weird apple symbol and blue with white shading every where like it encountered a virus or something. It goes back shortly after but it keeps happening. Is this a known issue with the newer IPod Classic? Do I have to restore my IPod? I have had this IPod for about a year. Any ideas of what is going on??

Maybe try restoring your ipod. Some of the files could have become corrupted.
    Hope this helps...

  • IPod stops playing song and becomes unresponsive...

My iPod classic stops playing, and the iPods menu won't respond. After 30 seconds or so it works again, and acts as if it had been playing all along (it has moved along to the next song)... any ideas on how to fix this? I reset the thing already to no avail..

I had this  issue too, but it was skipping the song either on Mac and iPhone.
For me worked erase the song in all the devices and download it again.

  • Ipod stops playing after each podcast

When I play music, each song plays one after the other like you expect. When I play my podcasts after each one the ipod stops and goes back to menu screen. How do I get it to play the podcasts one after the other like songs? Is this a setup item I missed? Thanks for any help.

The iPod does not use folders like you do in Windows or Mac OS. They are invisible to the user.
You are not explaining yourself very well or you have never used an iPod.
I don't understand how using folders will make it easier than it already is.
If everything is in folders and you do not use playlists, then you have to move everything around into folders to listen to specific music.
I never said playlists were cumbersome but they are sometimes ineffective. Some times you don't want a certain rating or a certain grouping but maybe you just want to listen to one album in order or one podcast.
So select that album or that one podcast and press play.
It's much easier to find that podcast or album by name then it is to scroll through thousands of entries to find the starting title of the group.
Why don't you do it this way now?
    I go to
Music -> Albums -> pick one and play
Music -> Podcasts -> pick one and play
That's what the problem was last week I would go to artists choose the artist then the album and then it would play one song and skip to the top menu.
That seems to have been a glitch.
I go to Music -> Artist -> Album and press play. It plays the entire album with all the songs in album in order.
It did it for every album and every song I chose every day of the trip a couple weeks ago and yes they all have there check boxes selected in iTunes.
The check box is used only if you want to use Update only checked songs in iTunes prefs -> iPod. Once the songs are on the iPod, this option has nothing to do with th eiPod.

  • IPod stops playing in the middle of a song

This has just started to happen, I'll be listening to a song and it'll just stop playing. I'll unlock the "hold" switch and it'll continue playing.
Should I go to an Apple store and seek help or is this a known issue with an easy fix?

Should I go to an Apple store and seek help
Yes if you have tried all the solutions mentioned in the iPod Nano 5th Gen. User Manual and the iTunes & iPod Hints & Tips website.
or is this a known issue with an easy fix?
If it is search for the "fix" article - http://support.apple.com/kb/index?page=search

  • Ipad 2 ipod stops playing for no reason

recently the ipod on my ipad 2 stops playing music mid-song for no apparent reason... I haven't actually change anything or done anything unusual to it, so not sure what could be causing this?
    Thanks!

Try a Reset [Hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons down together for 10 seconds or so (until the Apple logo appears) and then release. The screen will go blank and then power ON again in the normal way.] It is app and data safe!

  • IPod stopped playing sound out of speakers

I have an iPod touch 5th Gen which is around 3 years old and today it suddenly stopped playing sound out of the speakers. If i put headphones in sound plays fine out of them but as soon as I take them out no sound comes out even if there is something playing.
The speakers were working fine around 20-30 minutes before I realized they weren't working and my iPod has been doing nothing but sitting on my desk in that time. I tried restarting my iPod but this didn't fix the issue.

It can't be 3 years old since the 5G iPod was first introduced in Oct 2012
    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so. There is a little switch in the headphone jack that disconnects the speaker when the headphone jack is inserted.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack.

  • My iPod stopped playing music...

Well.... Last night, i took my iPod out of it's protective case thingy, and in order to do so, i needed to plug out my earphones.
after i did that, i plugged the Ipod into a wall charger to charge it (duh)
but now, after i plugged the earphones in again, it stopped playing in the Left one.
it also plays bad at the right one. i have tried to restore it, and stuff, but it didn't help....
Shall i take my iPod to repair, or can it be fixed in other ways?

It is not the haedphones..... i tried with like 3 differrent ones, and they dont woork in the iPod, but in my pc or cellphone....
It is the iPod.... maybe the thing i put the earphones in has broken from the inside?

  • IPod stops playing in the middle

I recently got a new laptop and moved all my media from the old to the new.  I deauthorized the old computer and authorized the new one.  New computer is running iTunes on Windows 8.
Any song that I purchased from iTunes will not play correctly on my iPod classic.  They stop middway through and there is silence for another 10-30 seconds, and then it goes to the next song on the playlist.
I have reset the iPod to factory settings and reloaded all the songs and videos.  Twice.  I still have the problem.
The affected songs play just fine on the computer.
As far as I can recall, everything worked just fine when I was using iTunes on the old computer (Windows Vista).
I have a lot of music that I've purchased from iTunes.  If I have to reload everything from the cloud, I will have to delete the existing versions of the songs and replace them with the downloaded version.  If I'm not mistaken, in the process of doing this, the songs will disappear from any playlist in which they appeared.  I have a lot of playlists (I'm a spinning instructor).
Is there a fix for this?

I'm having this exact problem now with an iPhone 4 (not the 4S) and running software 6.1.3 with iTunes version 11.0.4.4. - The songs play fine in iTunes. In some instances I brought in the songs from CDs, in other instances I purchased from the iTunes store meaning I can't simply convert them. In either way they play silence on my iPhone around halfway through and for the remainder of the track.
I have attempted a full restore from a backup, and then reloaded all of my music, same songs, same problem. I don't feel a manual restore would help because that means reprogramming every single app, and the music would be reloaded the same way so what difference could that make?
Just to add insult to injury my protection plan ran out about 2 weeks ago and my phone otherwise works fine, so this can't possibly be worth purchasing another pricey plan just to be allowed to TALK to Apple.

  • All of a sudden my iPod stopped playing and a dark gray Apple logo came up.

I was listening to my iPod nano for about 30 minutes but 20 minutes into playing, it all of a sudden stopped and an Apple logo against a dark gray background popped up. I held down the center and menu button to perform a reset and it has been working fine ever since but I am worried that this might signal a premature death to my iPod.
What caused this? I never fiddled with any menus or buttons while playing my music so it didn't occur by me inputting anything. What does that screen mean? I've had my iPod for 3 months and always listen to it in one hour intervals (since I commute to work in the city) and this never happened before.

Some people have told me something similar a few years ago... they said that they didn't do anything for a few days then their iPods resurrected (lol)... don't know if this can happen to these new iPods too, I haven't experienced this. So you should wait for a few (4-5 days) and if nothing happens then bring it back to the shop.
