IPod stops randomly

Anyone else have a problem with the iPod feature when using Safari or Google Maps? Mine will just stop playing occasionally. Am I overloading the device?

Happened to me within 10 minutes while playing with one in the Apple store. While loading a Google map the music track playing in the background just went silent. I thought it was curious, but wasn't too surprised. A few moments more into Google-mapping and the screen went blank and the whole phone rebooted.

  • IPOD PAUSES RANDOMLY

I have a problem with my Ipod, actually it's becoming a big issue. My Ipod stops randomly when using other headphones than those from apple.
I read on the internet that a lot of people is experiencing this problem but Apple makes nothing to solve it. Even people is getting new Ipods from Apple and the problem persists.
Does anybody how to deactivate that feature that makes the Ipod to pause if the earphones are unplugged? Any other idea?
    Best regards,
    Antonio.

All non-Ipod issued headphones have been "problematic" for me. Unfortunately, I do not have the option of staying away from these problematic headphones as suggested by Apple support (what kind of support is that?) as the standard issues do not fit in my ears.
I now actually despise my Ipod. I used it for exercising all the time before I upgraded to Photo 60G. Now my afternoon jog consists of hitting play, hold, putting away in my hip pouch, walking a foot, Ipod pausing, digging out, take off hold, hit play, put on hold, put away and REPEATING as necessary. Needless to say, I don't make it very far these days and I'm in a bad mood after to boot. And no, my headphones have never actually come unplugged as has been suggested is what sets off this feature.
Glad the extra money I spent went into such a well thought out and obviously untested with 3rd party headphones feature.
You know they will take this off or allow it to be disabled in the next generation, until then the problem will continue to be ignored. I JUST WANT MY OLD IPOD BACK!
In the meantime, Ill continue to spread word about this problem. STICK WITH THE TRIED AND TRUE Ipods, don't get new generation/photos.

  • Ipod volumes randomly goes up and down

okay in my ipod i randomly have a problem where i'll be listening to a song and the volume will like control itself, i sware im not touching the ipod when its doing this. it goes either up and down for at least 30 secs before it stops. it happened again today for about the fifth time and was wondering why its doing this.

I have this problem as well. Just got the iPod video on Thursday, worked for a day, then started doing the volume jumping thing. Then I tried playing the Superman clip from iTunes Store, and it froze it. I tried turning it off, to no avail. Then I tried doing the reset. No luck. I tried restoring on the computer. Locked up my computer hardcore.
This is my 2nd person iPod, 5th in the family. first to have this sort of issues.
It's going back, for an exchange. This one's buggy.

  • Ipod Classic Randomly Loses Tracks/Songs when sync with Itunes

My IPod Classic Randomly loses Songs from playlists. I can sync with iTunes and it will keep say 8 songs out of 10 in a playlist (sometimes all 10 if I’m lucky) but if you re sync it will have 7 or 9 different tracks in the playlist. Its Very annoying as my girlfriend uses it for teaching and songs are always missing.
I have tried updating IPod, re-installing ITunes and restoring IPod
Any Ideas??? Apart from buy a new one but from what I can guess seems like a software issue.
    Thanks

I was having the same problem.
I have an i pod classic 80GB (with the wheel) I think it's 5th generation
I would start a Sync, it would sync 2 or 3 songs then stop or hang up, which did not interfere with any other function, so I would not say it froze.
Once I ended the sync by clicking on the X next to the sync progress bar at the top of the window, I ejected the ipod and then plugged it in again.  Then  I selected my i pod under Devices in the menu on the left-hand side of iTunes.  Clicked on the summary tag.  Clicked on  "Manually manage music and videos" Clicked ok and apply.
When in manual mode, you cn drag songs from  iTunes to the device icon in the sidebar. Once I downloaded the song or songs or album that was causing the problem, I then unselected manual load, and everything else was able to sync normally on automatic mode.

  • How can I make my ipod stop freezing and refusing to boot up?

My ipod will randomly, about 25-50 times a day, refuse to start up and I have to reset it (Hold sleep/power till...etc)
Is there any way to make this stop?
I have kinda gotten used to it, but it is still really annoying. It will also not exit apps and not recognize any buttons. After a while of this, it freezes, and may or may not unfreeze.

    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • IPod80GB stops randomly

My bloody iPod is stopping randomly, then the apple symbol appears for 30 seconds and then it reverts to the main menu. I guess it is reseting itself or something and it's driving me nuts. I have had it since Oct/06 and this problem may have started after I upgraded iTunes 7.5 but i'm not sure. I have also restored the bloody thing twice already. Could it be a battery issue? I often use the iPod in the car with an FM transmitter so it is always fully charged. Therefore I'm wondering if the battery is toast which is causing the problem.

I had the same problem with my 5G 30GB iPod, it would freeze in the middle of tracks and reset itself (funniest was when it reset itself WHILE it was resetting). I had to send mine to Apple, and they replaced it. I suggest you contact Apple and hopefully they'll do the same.

  • Videos Won't Play and Songs Stop Randomly

*These problems are on my iPod Nano 3rd Generation, Blue, 8GB*
I added a video to my iPod, it will play on iTunes, but when I select it to play on my iPod, all I get is a black screen.
Also, with a few songs, even one that I downloaded from iTunes, they will stop randomly in the middle of the song and go on and play the next song.
I never had this song problem with my old, 1st generation nano.
    What should I do?
Is it faulty? Should I return it back to the shop?

If you downloaded iOS 6 - YouTube is no longer included in the iOS.
If you are not running iOS 6 - go to Settings>General>Restrictions and see if you restricted YouTube.
If it isn't restricted.Swipe from screen to screen and look for it. If you still can't find it....
You can reset the home screen layout and the icon will reappear - but the home screen will return to the way that it looked when you first activated your iPad. Settings>General>Reset>Reset Home Screen Layout.
For the videos - quit the app completely and then restart the iPad and try again.
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the task bar will appear with all of your recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar. Restart the iPad.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Or ... Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Or...Swipe to the right from your first home screen to get to the iPad Spotlight search. Type in the name of any of your movies in the field at the top. When the movie appears in the search - tap on it and it should start to play. Let it play for a minute or so - hit done - go back to videos app and see if all is OK.

  • IPOD (3G) randomly scrolls through songs!!

When I am listening to a playlist, my ipod will randomly stop playing and start scrolling through the songs on the playlist continually and it won't stop. Then I have to reset the ipod just so i can use it again but the problems repeats itself very often.
    Anyone have any ideas why???

Have you had a chance to look at these troubleshooting pages? They may be of some help:

  • IPod touch randomly skipping songs

I have recently overhauled my entire iTunes music library and sorted out all of my albums, album artwork and artist names etc in preparation for syncing all these songs onto my iPod (well over 240 albums, 3,500 songs and roughly 30 gig of music data)
I selected "Songs" and have shuffled the entire library so I get a mixture of tunes while walking my dog. I have noticed that the iPod will randomly start and stop songs, this mainly happens near the end of a song - the track length is 4:18 and it will stop at 4:15 and go to the next song. I have checked my settings and the option to shuffle tracks when the iPod is shaken is turned off.
I have also experienced that there has been approximately 30 seconds left of a track and then it will go into an entirely different song from another artist. When I click the arrow to go to the next track it will pick this exact song and the time or section of the song it's up to (for example 2:04 into the next song).
When I say that I've overhauled my music library, I converted songs in iTunes to AAC 256kbps format (iTunes plus), I noticed some longer songs defaulted to a time of 4:58 (usually these were 6 minute + songs) so I converted these to AAC 256kbps using a third party program (MediaHuman Audio Converter).
I currently have all of my music residing on another hard drive separate to my Windows 7 OS. I'm at a loss as to what to do as I've restored my iPod several times, manually deleted music and re-added it all with the same errors. They do not seem to happen on particular music tracks as I place the iPod on shuffle often so it will be random what I hear during a walk.
Any advice or replies are appreciated - it really has me stumped as to what is going on.

Close the music app in the multitasking bar. Then try again.
Restart/Reset/Restore your iPod. (in that order).

  • IPod stops syncing after a while, won't eject and then crashes iTunes

Whenever I try to update my iPod Classic 80GB, after 1000 songs or so the iPod stops syncing (gets stuck on a song). Then the iPod won't eject, even when dragged into trash.
Then, when trying to eject iPod or quit iTunes, iTunes crashes and has to be force quitted with iPod cable removed.
When I check my iPod it says there is no music/photos etc on it.
I have reinstalled the latest iTunes and restored my iPod with the latest version, my OS software is all up to date too.

Actually at 1200ish songs the iPod hard drive starts making some severe clicking/clanking noises. I'm guessing it means the hard drive is screwed since it's the same symptoms as my last iPod
Why does this happen? Both my iPods were about 2 years old when the hdd's started clicking, surely hdd's last for more than two years?

  • Ipod stops syncing after about 11gb on data transferred

ok, my ipod stops syncing after i transfer about 11gb of data.
my music collection alone is 12gb, i also have alot of photos and videos and other contents.
it doesnt matter which format the ipod is in, mac formatted or windows formatted its the same result.
    its an 80Gb ipod classic.
any one have any clue as to why this is happening?

If for some reason you failed to maintain a backup copy of your computer ( not good), then you can redownlaod some itunes content in some countries:

  • Ipod stops after each track ends in a playlist?

I have a problem: Suddenly, my ipod stops after each track ends in a playlist.  This happens with every playlist and every track, all of which worked fine until this week.  All tracks' settings are "yes" on 1) part of a compilation; 2) remember playback position and; 3) skip when shuffling.  I have not updated any software or added any new content to my ipod.  I imagine that some setting has been switched on or off, but I am unable to identify which one.  Please help as these are my audio books!  Thanks!

See below for a link on how to copy a CD into iTunes if you want an Audibook.
I have tried checking the gap less album box (what is that for by the way) but it makes no difference.
If you've heard of Dark Side of The Moon by Pink Floyd then it's used there when you want no break between tracks. Or any DJ mixed continuos play CD. Or some classical music. Take your pick
Third question, can I make a book copied into iTunes an Audiobook? How?
