IPod stuck in recovery mode, and doesn't even appear in iTunes, so I can't restore, HELP!

So my iPod appears to be stuck in recovery mode, which shouldn't be a problem, but for some reason is isn't showing up on my computer. I'm not getting the "is not recognizable error" It just literally doesn't even exist to my computer, My iPod doesn't even show up in the devises on my computer, BUT WHEN I PLUG IT IN, IT CHARGES? so I'm just really confused, any input would be great. Thanks!

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • After attempting to update to ios 7, my iphone is stuck in recovery mode and will not connect to the itunes software server.

After attempting to update to ios 7, my iphone is stuck in recovery mode and will not connect to the itunes software server.  I have already tried the resetting with power swich and home button and plugging into computer but it says the "iPhone software update server cannot be contacted."  I am locked out of my phone.  Does anyone have any idea how to resolve this issue and get the phone working again.  I will add that I am now trying to restore it on a different computer with a lower version of itunes, but the computer that it initially happened on had the updated itunes and gave me the same result ... nothing.  Thanks for your help in advance.

Try going to recovery mode as described here.  You may have to try this more than once to succeed.
Use the original iTunes that the iPhone synced with.

  • Ipod stuck in recovery mode and won't restore. says it can't connect to the network.

My son tried to jailbreak his ipod touch like an idiot and of course it did not work. Now his ipod is stuck in recovery mode and I can't get it to restore. I get a message that says:the ipod software update server could not be contacted. Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active, or try again later. I have internet access and everything is working but itunes can't connect to it. Why? I have been having issues with itunes for a couple weeks now. I can't connect to the store and redeem itunes cards either.

Make sure the setting for your security software allow iTunes to contact Apple servers:

As for the iPod, since he tried to modify the software, the only thing that could help would be DFU mode , we can't help much more, problems with jailbroken devices can't be discussed in theses forums, due to the Terms of Use.
Your son has to ask those people for help, which encouraged him to jailbreak his device.

  • Ipod stuck in recovery mode and restore fails every time

Hi, Just bought a refurb ipod touch (2nd gen 8gb). As soon as i plug it in and boot up itunes it says its discovered an ipod in recovery mode and that i need to restore it. Problem is the restore always fails. Not really sure what else to do? Ipod screen just displays the usb connect to itunes diagram all the time,
Do i have to send it back already or does anyone have a miracle cure?
    Thanks

    Welcome to the forum.
Try [Unable to update or restore|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808]. You may have to try this more than once. If you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen but the device does not appear in iTunes, try [Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows|http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1495]. (If you are on a Mac, there's a Mac link on that page).
If you device does not appear in iTunes or cannot be restored in iTunes (and you're running Windows) try [iPod is not recognized by Windows due to driver installation issues|http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538]
If you are running any antivirus, spyware, firewall, etc. that might be interfering with this process be sure to turn them off. Also plug your USB cord into a different port than you tried before.

  • My iPhone 4 is stuck in recovery mode after I tried to update it, & itunes won't let me restore my phone! Help?

So after trying to update my phone to ios7, it got stuck in recovery mode. I tried plugging it into my computer and itunes, and itunes recognizes that an iphone is plugged in. TThen when I click "restore my iphone", it says on itunes that it is in the process of restoring my iphone. An apple with a loading bar would pop up on my phone and then the loading bar would fill up, and then I would get an error message on my computer saying "Could not restore iphone, Error 2117" or something along those lines. I didn't have the new itunes, so I brought my itunes up to date. Now that I have the new itunes, I tried restoring the phone again. This time, when I plug in the phone, the computer recognizes it and says that its restoring my phone, but the my iphone was still stuck on the screen for recovery mode (white usb pointing at the itunes logo). Does anyone know how I could restore my phone? :/

This reply isn't to shorty2006, that post was awhile ago. This is for everyone that updates itunes and gets an error that their phone is now in Recovery mode.
I've been researching all night and even thought about downloading several different things that were suppose to get my phone out of "Recovery" mode.  Then I thought about taking my phone to the Apple store after work tomorrow.  I then found this blog and read coltonkj's entry and tada!  I took a big breath and hit "restore".  It worked, it put me back to the page where you can select to restore the last back-up.  Shooooo!!!!
    Thank you coltonkj !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • My Iphone 4s is stuck in recovery mode and is not being recognized by Itunes.

I've tried updating my itunes, restarting my computer and nothing seems to be working. My phone is stuck with the itunes logo and the cable telling me to plug it in. ive tried everything but nothing seems to be working.

    Hey Sonia.jackson
Thanks for the question. I understand that your iPhone is not recognized in iTunes. The following article may help to resolve your issue:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows

Specifically, if your iPhone is not recognized while in recovery mode, see Step 5 - subsection "If the device is not recognized while in Recovery Mode":

  • HT201263 my iphone is stuck in recovery mode and my computer keeps saying that it is unable to successfully restore my iphone

About two days ago my iphone had been charging all night, yet when i looked at it in the morning it said that it was only at 1% battery, so i restarted my iphone, after i turned it back on, the battery said 96% but after every 3-5 minutes it would shut down, then turn back on again, so i plugged it into my computer to sync and restore it, but it would not sync. I decided to restore it anyways, and it was put into recovery mode normally, but now it says that "The iPhone "iPhone" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (29)." and it keeps on attempting to restore it but it is not working. ive left it plugged into my mac for about 12 hours now. I have no idea what to do.

  • IPhone 5s stuck in Recovery mode and it cannot be recognized by iTunes

    Hello Apple Community!
I have iPhone 5s 7.1.2 (16gb), I tried to restore the iphone by holding the shutdown button with the home button, now it shows that I have to connect to iTunes, when I try to plug the usb into my device, iTunes doesn't recognize my iPhone so I can restore it, any solutions please?
Tried everything, even using another device and another USB wires but nothing seems to work.
    any feedback will be appreciated!
Note: My phone light up whenever I plug the USB to my laptop.
    Thanks in advance.

  • My Apple TV is dead and is not even showing in iTunes. How can I restore it?

I have gone all the procedures with my four apple computers, being careful on the way of connecting the micro usb and power cables. My Apple TV is not showing anywhere, and all happened in a moment. Any one knows the most common cause of something like this?
    Thanks for your attention.

My Apple TV was working fine but bricked with the latest upgrade.
I tried the simple solutions posted on the forum without success.
I then went out and purchased the suggested usb cable and spent considerable time attempting to upgrade with ITunes and still no success.
This evening I drove to the nearest Apple store and had them attempt to fix my Apple TV.
They also tried numerous methods but were not successful.
Apple's response was that my unit was out of warranty and I had to buy a replacement Apple TV at a cost of $59 plus tax. They kept my bricked unit.
I did reluctantly spend good money to resolve an issue that Apple caused.
What does this say about apple?
Do you really think automatic upgrades are a good idea?
