Ipod stuck on apple sign.  Help!!!

My ipod is stuck on the apple sign. I thought it had a full charge yesterday morning. Then my daughter went to listen to her songs and there were none on it, but at that time we could still use the menu. So, I thought maybe it wasn't charged. So, I restored to original condition (since she doesn't have much on it, it wasn't a big deal to lose her data), BUT now there is only an apple logo on it and I can't do anything. My computer or Itunes does not recognize the ipod either. I plugged it in to the wall charger instead and all it gives me is an apple logo not a charging sign. I tried holding the select and menu to reset, but nothing happens. What does this mean? Where do I go from here?

The Apple instruction for resetting an iPod is that you have to slide the Hold switch to on, then off again and then press-and-hold both the Menu and Select buttons simultaneously for up to 8 seconds. Did you toggle the Hold switch on, then off and wait up to 8 seconds?
I assume that you are talking about a Classic iPod since some of the early iPod models require a different sequence of buttons. Check here http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1320?viewlocale=en_US for the precise instructions for resetting various iPod models and further help to get the iPod to respond.
Let us know what happens.

Jailbreaking voids the Apple warranty and also means that you will not get any support from Apple, including from this Apple forum. Jailbreaking can't be discussed in this Apple forum.

  • Restored Ipod In Ipod settings and apple sign logo shows and a day later still hasent gone away

I restored my ipod In settings on my ipod it said it will restore it to factory settings and thats what i wanted! It said it would take at least an hour well the apple logo thing came up like when its booting up and it had a loading sign under it it loaded completly! Well now the loading sign went away! and it just shows the apple sign well every 10 minutes it blinks really quickly and the apple logo shows up again! Well I left it how it was all night and i woke up and it still was the same as the night before! So i decided to let it die it died and showed the battery red thing and tells you to plug into power well i did and the same thing happened! i plugged it into my laptop! So I dont know what to do! I love my ipod i never go anywhere without all my music! AND I DONT WANT TO BUY A NEW ONE!!! So yeah its been the same way for a whole day and a half! i tryed rebooting it like a hard reset with the power/sleep button and the home button! then i looked up online how to fix it well they said to unplug the side of the coard of your ipod and leave the usb in the computer and i shut it off did the hard reset and it told me to hold the home button and plug it in while holding it! and that did nothing!!! So can someone please help me! quick! im dieing with out my music!!!!!!

Seems that the OS is there (with your iPod) but just fails to boot it up completely. Have you tried to do a Restore with another computer? Prefer to put it into disk mode before doing the restore.

  • Ipod stuck on apple logo; tried everything

The iPod is about 4 or 5 years old, and it's been washed once with no problems. A while back, it decided to just stop working. It's been stuck on the apple logo for a couple of months. I've tried everything. I checked the iPod Diagnostics and it said everything was fine. I put it into Disk Mode and restored it, nothing changed. I've tried reformatting, nothing changed. I've reset the thing I don't know how many times, nothing changed. Sometimes the apple sign is dim, sometimes it's bright. At one point, a thingy popped up on my laptop that said to scan and fix the iPod, but then it said that it couldn't find any problems. So I tried it on another laptop, and this time it said it fixed the problems. But it was still stuck on the apple logo. When I get frustrated, I'll just leave it alone and random screens will pop up. Like it got to the languages page as if it was turned on for the first time, but it wouldn't let me select anything. And then there was a low battery screen that told me to connect it to a power source, but it wouldn't get recognized by my laptop. And the only way to get the iPod to turn off is to just let it die, because the iPod refuses to turn off with the power button. I'm at a total loss at this point.

So even after restoring the iPod to factory settings via iTunes, it still wouldn't boot past the Apple logo?  Did you follow the instructions in this article for restoring the Nano?

  • Ipod Stuck in Recovery mode help!!!

my ipod was fine, working brilliantly, tll a few days ago, it had a white screen, that said "connect to computer and restore in itunes" in many different languages. so i did, but itunes didn't pick up my ipod. so forced it into disk mode, and itunes recgognised it, and the message "Itunes as detected an ipod in recovery mode, you must restore this Ipod before it can be used with itunes" came up. so having restored it, i reconnected it, and the whole thing repeated itself, now my ipod maybe stuck in recovery mode, as every time i restore and connect, the same message comes up... HELP!!!
    thanks

Sorry, must pay more attention to the profiles:>) Unfortunately that link is the only one I know of that refers to the recovery mode problem. I'll have another dig around and if I find anything else I'll let you know. The only other thing I can think of is to run Disk Utility repair on your iPod and see if that helps. It's a shot in the dark I'm afraid.
Set up iTunes "not" to open when you connect the iPod.
Enable Disk Use on the iPod
Eject the iPod and shut down iTunes
Reconnect the iPod and open Disk Utility
Click on your iPod in the Utility pane and choose Repair Disk.
Close Disk Utility and open iTunes.

  • Ipod stuck on apple icon

i dont know how this happened. my ipod seems frozen and only displays the apple icon. i tried to reset it (toggle hold, then hold down middle and menu button) but it just goes back to the apple logo.
    any helpful suggestions?
    thanks

    Hi oliver john!
Try putting your iPod into disk mode - can you get it into disk mode, past the Apple logo screen?
For instructions on forcing your iPod into disk mode, see this article:
    Putting iPod into disk mode
If you can get your iPod into disk mode, then I would now suggest that you try restoring your iPod in iTunes (if it is recognized in iTunes).
For info on restoring an iPod, see this:

  • 3rd gen iPod stuck at apple logo

    hi all,
last week i bought a 15gb 3rd gen iPod from someone.. (with all original accessories and box)
I bought it knowing the battery was shot and bought one the day after i bought the iPod. i havent recieved the battery yet but when i plugged the iPod into my Macbook, the iPod boots to apple screen but stays there..
I can feel the hard drive spinning only when i turn it on.. and after the battery turns off or after a few seconds, i can hear a high pitch whinning sound..
I also thought that even when an iPod battery is dead, it will fully boot or at least say "do not disconnect" when plugged into a computer or ac adapter...
    any help?

When you get your battery, it should come with plastic tools to open the iPod. Try disconnecting the current battery and letting the iPod sit for a few minutes. Then, connect it with no battery. Maybe having no power and connecting it will "jump start" it, assuming there is no problem with hard drive.
Note: If you have not previously opened an iPod... Start at the top edge seam; there are no clips there. You usually get a pair of plastic tools. Open a gap (into the metal half) with one tool, at the center of the top edge. Use the other tool starting at that gap and follow the seam to the top right corner, around the corner, and down the right side. Press into the seam as you go. It should pop open along the right side. Open it like a book from the right side. The left side has a delicate ribbon cable connecting the two halves of the case, so don't yank it open on the left side.

  • Ipod touch 5th gen, gets stuck on apple logo.HELP!

I guess I will just start from the beginning. FIRST OF ALL I HAVE ALREADY TRIED RECOVERY AND RESETTING PLEASE DO NOT SAY THAT! My iPod touch 5th generation was dead and i left it dead for a day or so before recharging it, I just hadn't gotten around to it and left it in a bag from my trip. When i plugged it in it looked like it was going to turn on, but it just showed the usual apple logo and then shut off again. After letting it charge a while longer, i unplugged it and tried to turn it on, still nothing. I plugged it into my laptop, nothing. I tried a different charger, nothing helped. I even tried resetting it, where you hold both the home button and power button, each and every time i got the white apple logo, and then it shut off again. I kept reading the Apple forum and different things online and a common answer was to put it into recovery mode. Previously, Itunes would not recognize it, but when i held down the home button and connected it, it did and asked me if i wanted recover or update or whatever it asks. I did it, it took like an hour to finish and NOTHING happened. There was no change. I talked with an apple employee and she just gave me pretty much the same answer as everyone else. PLEASE HELP ME! IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE TO DO?
