IPod stuck on "connect to iTunes" and...

My new iPod is stuck on "connect to iTunes" and when I do connect to iTunes I get the BIG "X" icon telling me to go to the support page, it's a vicious circle...
The reset (5rs) does't work,do you have any hints that can help before I throw it out of the window?

Update Server
Try:
- Powering off and then back on your router.
- iTunes for Windows: iTunes cannot contact the iPhone, iPad, or iPod software update server
- Change the DNS to either Google's or Open DNS servers
Public DNS — Google Developers
OpenDNS IP Addresses
- For one user uninstalling/reinstalling iTunes resolved the problem
- Try on another computer/network
- Wait if it is an Apple problem

To bypass the passcode you need to place the iPod in recovery mode.  See:

Then restore the iPod from backup via iTunes on your computer.

  • IPod stuck on "connect to itunes" screen, Help.

    Ipod touch 2g 8gb.
Here is my dilemma: Stuck on "Connect to iTunes" screen
The iPod wont change screen, no matter how i boot it up.
And it does not show up in itunes or finder.
It shows up in itunes when i boot in DFU mode (I think) but displays a warning that ipod is in recovery mode and need to be restored before it can be used with itunes. Now, when i click OK it disappears from the side bar and returns me to my library.
I have also tried to connect it to 2 different PC's and no trace of it shows up anywhere.
I have tried countless methods from youtube and google but got no satisfactory results.
I read a few places that iPod touch's cant be bricked. I have never tried any kind of jail break for my iPod.
I have run out of ideas.
Any Help or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I tried all the suggested fixes, too, including uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes. In the end, I had to disable my security and it let me restore the iPod Touch then.
Still can't get my music onto it again, but that's another discussion topic.

  • Ipod stuck on connect to itunes screen

What happened is tha my ipod was jailbroken from 3.2.1 by my friend. I didn't want to jailbreak it so i was looking at how to restore it. When i went to go restore it i saw how long the download would take so i just kept the jailbreak without updating it. What recently happened is that i got faster internet and then went to go update my second generatin ipod to 4.2. I updated and did everything fine then i saw the connect to itunes and i did connect to itunes. When i did nothing happened. When i was looking around for ways to make it go away i saw that my connect to itunes image was the old 8. version, instead of the new 10. version. I was wondering if there was a way that i could resolve this problem and make the connect to itunes image go away.

I loaded my iPod onto someone elses computer and it worked. Just thought i'd let ya know incase others end up having this problem

Basically I erased all data via reset option in settings and now when the iPod boots it shows the "connect to iTunes" picture, problem is for some reason my iPod doesn't even get recognised by any PC's in my house. I have tried uninstalling all my apple software, in services apple mobile device and iPod Service are both running, but in device manager there are no apple devices under the universal serial bus controllers.
Please help I'm feeling rather sad about this and I have a bunch of exams coming up so I need my iPod to chill with a little bit. D:
    Thanks in advance,

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable

  • IPod stuck in "connect to iTunes" screen after updating software

I wanted to update my iPod touch to iOS5 after waiting for a long time. I synced and transferred purchases twice to make sure all my stuff was in my iTunes library, and then updated it. The update went fine but there was an error message saying that it could not restore the iPod. I went to troubleshooting and it said to update to the latest version of iTunes, which I did, involving a restart. When I started up iTunes again, it said it was the most recent version 10.7 and all of my songs, apps, etc. are in the library. The problem is I can't get my iPod to connect to iTunes now. It went into the connect to iTunes screen before I updated the software and it has stayed like that. I tried plugging and unplugging it, switching the USB ports and cables, putting it into recovery mode, but it will not show up on iTunes or on my computer. I also noticed that when I hold down the sleep/wake button for a few seconds, it shuts down immediately instead of having the "slide to power off" screen come up, and then the apple comes back onto the screen and it goes to the "connect to iTunes" screen again. I have tried all of the troubleshooting guides on the website, but it doesn't change the screen. I tried putting it into DFU mode and something came up on the computer saying "installing driver software" and it said DFU mode or something, which usually happens when I plug in my iPod, but after my iPod wouldn't turn on at first, and when it did, the same screen came up again. When I unplug it from the USB cable, it stays on the screen for about a minute before it turns off and the screen goes black. This is the screen it's stuck on
I'm not sure what else to do, all suggestions will be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much.

You try on another computer to help determine if you have a computer or iTunes problem. If it works on the other computer that indicates a computer problem and more work is required to fix that problem.
If iTunes on the other computer yuo can do the following to make that computer the syncing computer until you can fix the other computer. For how see:

  • IPhone Stuck on Connect to iTunes and iTunes Unresponsive

I have the original iPhone and was using it as an iPod with just WiFi and no cellular service. It was running 3.1.3 firmware.
However, a couple of days ago I tried to restore my phone because it was running slow and I just wanted to wipe it and start over. It came up with a weird error on iTunes which apparently was due to the servers being down for the 2g iPhone. When I plugged it in a day later the error was gone but now my phone is stuck on the Connect to iTunes screen and iTunes just says "iPhone" in the main window.
    Things I've tried -
    Reinstalling iTunes
    A different SIM card
DUF mode - worked and then went back to the same thing
    Restarting my computer
I'm running out of options.. Any suggestions?

I just tried renaming the 2G phone back to what is was originally... still did not work.
I get throught he activation process... then click "Set up as a new phone" because I have no backup to restore from.  I then de-select the "Sync contacts" and "Sync Applications" buttons.
I tunes throws up a dialog that says "iTunes could not back up the iPhone "mark's iPhone" because the backup session failed."
I'm getting the feeling this 2G phone is now a 2G brick.
    Any other ideas?
There must be a way to wipe the thing clean & start over.
    Thanks,
    -mark

  • IPhone 4 stuck on connect to iTunes and won't budge!

Please help! I was trying to update my mother's iPhone 4 to iOS 5 and in the midst of the update I get an error that says cannot restore and now the phone is stuck on the connect to iTunes screen. I've tried holding down the home and power keys and while it will reboot, it goes right back to the connect to iTunes screen. It is not being recognized by the computer either. Please help!!

    Do you update?
If you update OTA, you can hold power and home till it restarts and release when apple logo shows.
If not, you can hold power and home for 10 seconds and release power after 10 seconds but keep holding home till itunes says the phone in recovery mode.
Try a different USB port to restore.

  • HT4113 how do i fix my ipod if it says ipod is disabled connect to itunes and when i follow the steps it still doesnt work

how do i restore my ipod touch when it says ipod is disabled connect to itunes

    Are you doing this:
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
iOS: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    For how to restore:
    iTunes: Restoring iOS software
    To restore from backup see:
    iOS: How to back up
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
If you are just what happens?
