Ipod stuck on language selection screen

I have an old 2nd gen ipod nano that i found lying on my desk, so i decided to add songs to it (it's formatted to windows). Since my playlist is sort of small i decided to add songs off of my buddies' laptop, which is a macbook. After selecting all the songs i wish to add to my old ipod, the ipod is stuck on Language Selection and the click wheel refuses to work. Is there anyway to reverse this without having to completely reset the ipod?

Please don't steal music.
Cheers!

  • My iPod is stuck on Language Selection screen

My iPod Nano 7th generation is stuck on language selection screen. Language can be selected but "Done" button cannot be pressed.

Sounds like a hardware malfunction with the device.  Could be the clickwheel itself or the logicboard.  Either way, you'll need to send your iPod in for service if you want to be able to use it again.

  • IPod getting stuck at the Language Select screen. HELP PLEASE!

I couldn't turn my iPod on after charging it, so I reset factory settings. After that the buttons/clickwheel didn't work, and the only way I could turn my iPod on was with the hold switch, and then I would be stuck at the language select screen. When my friend suggested I do a hard reset (even though I didn't think the buttons worked) I did so and realized that I could also turn it on with that method, but I'm still stuck at the language screen.

I don't know what a "hard reset" is.
    Have you tried a restore?

  • U2 iPod 20GB Is *Stuck* At "Language" Selection

    It's stuck and I'm stuck ...
Subject cranky music device was last used approximately 10 days ago. It had sat for a day or so and the battery appeared to be drained, so I placed it into it's cradle (connected to my XP system via firewire) to charge. It appeared complete, no "do not disconnect" message, so I did, and found it to be "stuck" at the "Language" selection screen.
I've done the "Five R's" more times than I care to think about. It goes through the "restore" process from the Updater just fine, and even acts as if it's downloading songs to it, because you can see it counting off songs in iTunes, but when all is done; it's back to the "Language" screen. No amount of "careful touching" on the click-wheel will make anything happen. And I can't say that the click-wheel itself is bad, because it lets me do the reset stuff fine.
Is there any kind of "hardware reset" software out there for us PC types, that let's us mess with our iPod's mind? I'm game to try and play, because, well, I can.
Help ... I miss my music!

Has your iTunes been updated to 7.0, and did you then allow the 1.2 iPod firmware update to install?
Your symptom is very similar to the problem I had updating my iPod to 1.2 (on Mac OS, not Windows). The songs would sync, and the song list and all the iPod information would show up in iTunes (after I reset the iPod while docked). But as soon as I disconnected, the iPod would freeze after about 5 seconds (usually still on Language Selection, but sometimes one or two clicks past that, if I was quick).
I ended up restoring the iPod firmware to version 1.1.2 (found the iPod Updater software for 6/28/06 on the support web site--don't know if the Windows version is available there).
I'm sticking to the old version (of the firmware) until Apple gets a patch version of iTunes 7 out.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - Try another cable. Some 5G iPods were shipped with Lightning cable that were either initially defective or failed after short use.
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Stuck on Language select during installation

This is coming via my brother who is reinstalling Leopard. He is using the disk that came with his laptop and when he gets to the language screen, it gets stuck on language select. He cannot click continue, and cannot even chose to select another language (not that he wants to, just saying he cannot). He has tried tabbing through the options and there is no response. The cursor will move around when on the touchpad, but nothing else. He is not using any external keyboard or mouse.
I have tried searching, but cannot find an answer. Can anyone offer any insight as to what is happening and how to fix it? Thank you in advance for any advice.

We could try a mouse, but the keyboard is not working either, so return will not be able to do anything sadly.
I don't know if his problem stems from why he is reinstalling it. He was having really long load times after a restart or a shut down and it would take sometimes 5+ minutes to load the OS. The computer is not even a year old yet and we couldn't figure out what has happened. I got mine before him and have had no problems. So he was trying to reinstall and now he can't get past the language select screen. I don't know if it's totally freezing up...but like i said the cursor will move but no clicks or keyboard actions will register.

  • The language selection screen just comes up over and over again.  I'M FED UP!  I have done the system restore several times to no avail.  WHAT DO I DO?

I upgraded my ATV and now when I select English during language selection, it goes no where.  The language selection screen just comes up over and over again.  I'M FED UP!
I have done the system restore several times to no avail.
    WHAT DO I DO?

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).  Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.
If the issue continues, take the device to Apple for evaluation.

I shut down my iPod and when I turned it back on it got stuck on the loading screen and its been like that for a couple hours and it won't do anything. I've tried plugging it in and pressing the power and home buttons but it just keeps loading. I'm really scared does someone know what to do?

  • SCCM stops at "Set Up Windows" Language Selection Screen

    This is my scenario:
    1. I'm Using SCCM 2012 R2 w/MDT2013 to deploy Windows 7x64 image that contains 4 languages already injected into the .wim file.
    2. The UDI is configured so that users can choose language, time, keyboard and time zone.
    3. The image deploys fine but always stops at "Setup Up Windows" phase and prompts for an manual input from the user to choose a " language" even though the language was already selected at the beginning of the UDI sequence. Can anyone
help explain why this is occurring and more importantly how to fix it? I've searched through many forum but none with the exact problem I'm having. Once I choose the language again, it continues and the deployment is successful but I would like to avoid this
from occurring as it never had in the past. I noticed this behavior since we upgraded to SCCM R2.
    Many Thanks!

I use this as my unattended.xml as I have 2 languages in our Win7 x64 deployment to stop the language prompt screen,  there may be extra stuff in there as I never tried to trim it after I got it sorted.

  • Ipod Stuck On Language Menu

Ok so i bought an old 4g Ipod U2....
it's new... open box, and i have the apple care warantee and everything
so i'm good for 2 years
i got it yesterday and i can't get it out of the language selection menu....
yes i've tried to reset, restore and everything else said on the forums. does anyone know what is going on?...

If you believe it got wet, which is a problem for iPods, don't try to use it anymore and set it in a cool, dry place for several days. After this connect to to power (a wall charger works best) and charge it for at least 30 minutes, then Reset it (hold the menu and center buttons down for 6 seconds) while it is connected to power. After it comes to life, Restore it in iTunes.

  • Mavericks installer stuck on disk select screen

    Hi all,
I just attempted to update to the new os x mavericks. However, I've been stuck on the disk select screen for about a half hour and no disks are popping up to select. Is there anything I can do here? I tried rebooting with the old OS X and it says it is not able to. I'm unsure where to go from here, especially not without risking any damage to files, etc.

What is the error message, please? Time Machine won't be an option until after OS X is reinstalled and you enter the Setup Assistant. You aren't there yet.
I want you to quit the installer if it's running. Then try rebooting as follows:
    Boot Using OPTION key:
      1. Restart the computer.
      2. Immediately after the chime press and hold down the
          "OPTION" key.
      3. Release the key when the boot manager appears.
      4. Select your normal startup disk.
      5. Click on the arrow button below the icon.
Let me know if you can still boot from your old system. If not, then you need to do a reinstall of Mavericks.

(SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. Can someone help me. My Ipod seems to get stuck on the apple screen and keeps restarting. Also the last time i used it i was not able to do horizontal on the web browser to be web contents. Plz help me

    Hello, Welcome to Apple Discussions.
Have you attempted to allow the iPod Touch to completely drain it's battery. Then connect it and charge it? If so does it continue to keep restarting?
Also you may wish to see if you can put the iPod Touch into recovery mode as well as see if you can perform a reset on it.

  • Ipod stuck on language screen

So I just wanted to hook up my new 5g, 30gig Ipod and it is stuck on the language screen where it asks to select a language. I tried pressing the play, center button, even checking the hold button. The ipod is charged what am I missing thanks

Out of curiosity, did either or both of you use the iPod before connecting it to your computer? Or did you just take it out of the box and plug it into your computer when this happened?

  • New iPod woes, stuck at language selection.

So I just got my iPod home from the store and turn it on and the first screen I see is to select what language I want to use. It is defaulting to English, with a list of many other languages underneath it but I cannot get it to proceed or even to highlight another option, it appears completely frozen. There are not too many buttons to push, is it broken right out of the box or am I missing something?
There is no owners manual so I am not even sure how to turn it off, it just stays on when I unplug the USB cable from the bottom of the iPod and there does't appear to be a "power" button of any kind.
Also, I am using Firefox 1.07 as my browser. When I try to access the music store I am told that the music store could not be reached and to check my connection. Obviously I'm posting here so my internet connection is just fine.
Must say, so far I'm not impressed with the iPod or the customer care. A page in the support section tells me that I can chat with a live person, but when i get there it asks me to select a product and enter a serial code. The only products available to select or iPod Shuffle and iMac. No option for just iPod which seems to cause it to choke when I enter the serial #. Any other customer support emails or phone #s are buried, I suppose I will resume the hunt for them after I post this.
If anyone can help me I would greatly appreciate any info.

    Welcome to the discussions Patrick,
It may or may not have said it on there but there is one number for apple support. It is 1-800-APL-CARE. You dial this number during buisness hours and follow the steps given. Since you just bought this (a video ipod right?) you have one year or 90 days of phone and tech support. As for turning the ipod on and off it is the play/pause button and the center button. Center to turn it on and play/pause to turn it off. It is confusing at first yes, but you should get the hang of it. The applecare representatives will/should take care of you.
