Ipod switches on and off by itself - comp uter doesn't recognize

The ipod keeps switching on and off. When it goes on it shows me all the languages that are offered. Then it shuts off and turns back on again. This is done quickly and my computer can't recognize that the usb is plugged in. I'm able to put it in disk mode but I can't reformat my ipod in that mode. What can I do? It's been 3 days that I've been trying to fix this problem.
I've also tried reinstalling ipod and itunes from the disk but now itunes can't properly install - I keep receiving a message that says an error has occurred.
Please help!

Hi,
Try doing a restore on your iPod. Hope this works.

  • Ipod switching on and off by itself

I updated the software on my iPod Touch to 4.35, and since i updated the software, the iPod keeps on turning on by itself, showing the apple logo and then switching off. It can't reset by holding the Home/Lock key at the same time and it's not recognised on My Computer.
How do I fix the iPod?

Try placing the iPod in recovery mode and then try restoring via iTunes.  For recovery modes ee:
iPhone and iPod touch: Unable to update or restore
If not successfully, disconnect the iPod andl et the battery fully drain and then charge and try again.

  • 5310 switches on and off automatically

    Hello everyone!
Could anyone help please? My 5310 XpressMusic switches on and off by itself! I thought it was a viru, but some people say it cannot be infected with a virus since its OS is Symbian. What makes me wonder is that it sometimes goes to Profiles automatically and starts to change modes, general, silent, outdoor, etc and in the end it'll switch off! What makes it do so if it's not a virus?
    Thank you in advance!
    Uthman,

Your phone is not even Symbian, it is Nokia's in-house OS which absolutely cannot catch viruses. You must have a glitch in your software, try a software update (www.nokia.com/software update) or visit a Nokia service point - your phone is a fairly new model, so I imagine it must be under warranty still.

  • I tried to restore my 120 gb iPod and got an error 1413 message - "cannot restore iPod". I started to reset turning the hold switch on and off and now my iPod seems to be permanently locked.

I tried to restore my 120 gb iPod and got an error 1413 message - "cannot restore iPod". I started to reset turning the hold switch on and off and now my iPod seems to be permanently locked. I had been having trouble syncing music, When I tried to sync, iTunes said it didn't recognize my iPod, even though I was on the iPod page in iTunes which showed the model number and the serial number of my iPod

I am having essentialy the same problem, but my iPod came from a PC and is now on a PC. The person who gave me the iPod didn't give me the wall adapter piece, so I bought a "Griffin" brand that was said to be compatible with this model. When I first plugged it into the wall, the Apple appeared with a bar underneath as though it was loading the new software. When the bar got to the end, the "plug into the wall" icon reappeared, but when I plug it in to the wall now, that icon is the only thing that shows, even after resetting and trying to run diagnostics.
When I doc the iPod on a charger I have or plug the USB into my computer and "reset" it, a battery with a charge icon appears, but there is no "motion" in the icon so it doesn't appear to be charging. The screen eventually goes back to the apple then to the "plug it into the wall" icon. HELP!!! Is is possible the wall adapters isn't the right one? Should I be charging through a firewire cable instead (which I also don't have...)?

  • Help, My iPod just turns on and off...my PC doesn't even get to "see" it.

I just got the 5G 60 Gig iPod. I was charging it for the first time. And of course windows wanted to jump on in. iTunes started up and wanted to transfer music, the unit wanted it's initial setup, but iTunes switched it over to th Do Not Disconnect mode. I got the register your new iPod screens to come up, then music started automatically transfering. Then I got I must reboot my computer screen...I ignored it, figuring it had to finish getting the music transfered. Then about a 1/3 into the music tansfer, I got some kind of could not find error concening the music, then my computer stopped doing anything. I did a restart, no all my iPod does is turn on and off by itself, (from the Apple icon, to back off) and won't stop doing it. I tried resetting the unit, but then it still continues. Connecting and reconnecting the USB cable, restarting the PC etc....Help, what do I do. Frustrated is beyond what I'm feeling right now...I keep thinking what the **** I just spent, for this to be the end result!! Is this unit fried? Or will it get damaged!!! HELP

I had exactly the same issue when connecting my new BLACK 60mb Video iPod to connect to my PC via USB 2.0.
The iPod kept Crashing & Freezing also iTunes become unstable and very slow, it kept saying "unable to write to disk" every 5 minutes and I had to disconnect & re-connect for the same message to show again in 5 mins later, it eventually told me not to disconnect the iPod. However, after 30 mins i just did it.
I then opened iPod updater and re-attached my ipod with USB 1.
This seemed to take an age to recognise (5 mins +) but bear with it. Once it was connected I reinstated to factory settings, once I did this it automatically told me to update my software to 1.1.1.
When I then opened iTunes it again took 5 mins to connect, but it then started to transfer my music, which took over 6 hours to do 22MB.
Having said that I have had no "can not write messages"
Today I have conencted (again taking 5 mins to connect) but it has transfered over 1000 photos in under 4 mins and updated all tunes.
    hope this helps,

  • Iphone 5 - Switchs on and off automatically

    Hello,
I have just encountered the following problem on my Iphone 5.
I have bought my phone an year ago and updated IOS to IOS7 and had no issues till now.
I was playing a game and the device shut down automaticall and immediatly reboots only to shut down again and again.
Following is the link to the video in this regard.
    http://youtu.be/g9ssPGrZA9Y
Please let me know of the possible solution to this.
    Thanks in advance

Try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button until the Apple logo comes back again. If this does not help, set it up "as new device" How to back up your data and set up as a new device
If still no luck, repeat the set up again, this time without using the latest backup, in case it contains corrupt data causing your problem.
If your device is not recognized by iTunes due to switching on and off, try to connect in recovery mode, explained here: iPhone and iPod touch: Unable to restore
