IPod sync does not mark Podcasts as "not new" in iTunes

Hi
Last week I installed a new version of iTunes since I reinstalled Windows. Before the sync between my iPod (60GB 5. gen.) and iTunes worked well. But now the iPod is not capable anymore of marking podcasts as "not new" in iTunes although the podcasts were marked as "not new" before I connected the iPod to my computer. Instead iTunes overwrites the status of the podcasts on my iPod. So whether an episode is new or not on my iPod, if it's new in iTunes it will be new on the iPod after the sync.
My current version is 7.1.0.59
Is anyone of you aware of the problem and knows any way to solve it?

I'm having very similar behavior. I wish Apple would get pay a lot more attention to the numerous podcasting sybching/ playing issues. In my case, there's a couple of podcasts in particular that even though I listen to the particular podcast, it never is recognized as having been listened to on my iPod. As a result, old podcasts just seem to keep "hanging around" and are never overwritten or deleted from my iPod (4 GB , nano, 1st generation) when I sync up. Apple... pay attention... please...! Anyone else have this particular behavior ?

  • Itunes does not mark podcasts which have been played on ipod as played

When I sync my ipod with itunes, podcasts which I have played on my ipod are not marked as played on itunes. However, if I have played a podcast on itunes it does mark the podcast as played on both itunes and my ipod. This used to work at one time, but for some reason has stopped. How do I get it working again so that itunes will mark a podcast which has been played on my ipod as played and not remark my already played podcast as unplayed after syncing?

  • IPod Syncs Upon Connecting to USB - but not After

Hi, I believe this issue is related to my itunes, and not to my nano, for no other reason that the same problem has happened with both my iPod Nano Video; and the brand new Nano 4th gen (or whatever Gen is brand new right now)
I plug iPod into USB - iPod syncs as usual - and becomes ready for disconnect as usual.
But, if I go to make any syncing changes to my ipod - or any changed to my ipod at all whatsoever - and then try to RE-Sync it - no dice.
The display on my nano does not change - it stays on the regular menus - as if it's not connected.
My iTunes video says "Syncing iPod. Do Not Disconnect." - but it's not. It hangs - and itunes freezes up. Eventually (after about 3 minutes) an error will finally pop up.
The error reads: iPod cannot be synced the required disc cannot be found
So - here are the steps I have taken to try and resolve this issue -
    I have reset my iPod.
    I have restored my iPod.
I have downloaded the latest version of iTunes.
    I have re-installed iTunes.
I have changed the ipod settings in itunes so that it does not sync ipods upon initally connecting them. This merely allowed me to sync the ipod zero times instead of the initial 1 time.
What can I do, I'm ready to go crazy? Please tell me there is a solution for this.

I'm not sure if it will help either of you, but i've just spent the past 35 minutes on the phone to a helpful man at apple.
My particular problem was caused by the USB ports. I appear only to have USB 1.1 on the front two ports of my machine and USB 2.0 on the back two.
Newer iPods he said, required USB 2.0 to work. So if either of you are plugging them into the front of your machine, try the back ports for a change. You never know
    Hope this helps.

  • 4th Gen Shuffle does not mark podcasts as played in itunes library

I listen to a lot of podcasts while I deliver my mail, and through the years each ipod I use I load the playlist onto, then I listen to what I can while working. At the end of the day I don't always finish the playlist but when I sync to itunes the ones that were played have the blue dot erased so I know to delete them from my library. This however is not happening with my new shuffle. Why? I don't know any Ideas? Thanks

Do you have it set to manually sync or are you syncing playlists automatically?
Check the summary page for your iPod. If you have "Manually Manage Music" checked, then it will not update what you have played. You need to uncheck that, then go to the "Music" tab and/or "Podcast" tab to select what stuff you want to sync with the Shuffle.

  • IPod sync and update but shows 'don not disconnect' forever!

    Hi all.
    I have 5th generation iPod.
I have problem syncing my iPod and iTune.
I can sync my iPod to iTune and it update the music data than shows the sync is completed but it still shows on the iPod screen 'Do not disconnect'.
Is there any way to fix it? (restore?) or is my iPod already broken?
If there's anyone who happen the same, your advise would be a big help!
    Thanks!

    Mainbrain,
    thanks for the comment.
It seems like you can unplug the iPod but then since i see it says 'do not!'
kida worry to do it all the time and hope it's not broken or anytime...

  • ITunes not marking podcasts as listened to

In the past, after synching, iTunes would list a podcast (that was listened to on the iPhone) as Read or listened to. This has been happening for months.
It doesn't seem to do that anymore, and I constantly get the "iTunes has stopped updating... because you haven't listened lately" message.
    It's annoying.
    Any ideas?

I'm not sure if Crossfade works with podcasts. Crossfade is broken and causing issues with music playcounts. Disable it in Preferences/Playback and uncheck Crossfade songs to see if it helps with podcasts.

  • Itunes refuses to let ipod sync, says "Mobile Device Service is not started

So for some reason my iTunes refuses to sync. Itunes announces it that there is something wrong with syncing, something about "bonjour being disabled" and then it asks if I would like itunes to fix the problem. I hit yes. Itunes then "fixes" the problem, by ignoring that there is an ipod connected to the computer, and refuses to acknowledge the ipod's existence even if I run a diagnostic. I tried downloading bonjour for windows, thinking that might solve the issue, but no such luck, it tells me i already have bonjour for windows on my computer--god knows where it thinks bonjour is, since running find turns up nothing.
Anyone have a clue how to smack itunes upside the head and get it to start syncing again?

Restart the AMDS! Read about it here.

  • Podcast feed not updating, Podcast feed not updating

    Hi,
For a few months my podcast hasn't been updating on iTunes.  I can't re-submit the feed as it says it already exists. What do I do?
    Thanks,
    Mike

It's not really possible to comment unless you would like to publish the URLs of both your feed and the Store page - this latter can be found by control-clicking on the podcast image (or where it should be) - and choosing 'Copy link'.  Please include the http:// in both cases to make the links clickable.

  • HT204053 I have a small older iPod with one email address and passcode, & I have created an "Apple ID" yesterday with a different email address & different password, for my new iPOD Touch5:  Does that ID & pw now apply to my iTunes?

Does creating a new Apple ID with user name, email and password ( for my new iPod Touch 5  CHANGE and my existing iTunes account username and pw ?
    Thanks....Gary

Your new iPod Touch will use what ever ID you specify in Settings>iTunes & App Stores when you purchase apps and media from the iTunes and App stores, regardless of the ID you may have been using before on your older device.

  • How do I sync content from Macbook (legacy) to Imac (newer); same Itunes account?

I've had a MacBook for some time and have acquired content (copied CDs I owned onto itunes, etc).  I then bought an Imac.  Now I have an Imac with most of my content, but not all.  How do I go about syncing the content from my MacBook onto my Imac without losing any stuff?  Thanks in advance,

  • Podcasts do not show up on the car ipod menu

Just purchased iPod Classic for new car. Connected iPod to USB but my podcasts do not display on my iPod car display, just music.

Couple of clarifications, the rotation lock is not set. The controls are visible for video and other apps. Only the music screen does not rotate or show the controls.

    Hi BRIAN.MURPHY.TX,
Based on my research, it’s better to maintain separate certificates for SQL Server and RDS as different applications might be incompatible and require certain fields of the certificate. For more details, please review this similar
    thread.
Besides, the issue is more related to Windows security, I would like to recommend you post the question in the Windows Server Security forum at
https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/home?forum=winserversecurity . It is appropriate and more experts will assist you about the certificate sharing issues and SSL certificate best/bad practices issues.

  • Front Row not marking media as watched in iTunes after viewing.

Since updating to iTunes 10 I have noted that when I watch video in Front Row that the video file is not marked as watched in iTunes even though the full clip is played in Front Row. The podcast is marked as partially watched (half a blue ball).

    Bump.
I have tried multiple solutions and non have solved this issue. I am rather disappointed that watching content on my AppleTV or via FrontRow does not mark the show as "watched" in iTunes. FrontRow will mark it part watched and AppleTV does not effect the watched status flag at all.
I do believe this is an iTunes 10 issue though as I only saw it after upgrading to iTunes 10.
Can anyone point me to a solution?

  • Front Row not marking video as watched properly

I kept hoping that this issue would be resolved with one of the point releases, but here we are at 10.6.3 and it's still the same for me, so here's the problem.
Before installing 10.6 I was running 10.5.8 and when using Front Row to watch a video (say a TV show I downloaded on iTunes) I'd watch it all the way to the end and the status circle next to it would show that it's been watched. iTunes would report the same status.
Since installing 10.6 when I watch a video in Front Row all the way, the status shows up as if it's only partially watched instead of completely watched. I'm sure the video was over since I let it play all the way through until it comes back to Front Row.
This is very annoying. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there some way to fix it? If not, I hope Apple can address this in 10.6.4.

  • Mail moving non-Spam message to Junk, and not marking them as Junk

I have seen a couple of other discussions related to this, but no relevant answer. I will try to phrase the question completely.
I am using OS X mail with no additional Spam filters. My email service is mac.com/me.com/iCloud (I am wondering what the next iteration will be).
I am on the latest version of Yosemite, and my Junk Preferences are:
So, two different, but related, problems:
Mail does a pretty good job of catching real Spam and moving it to the Junk mailbox. HOWEVER, it has various ways of marking said messages.
    1) No Brown Color, No Junk Mail Flag
    2) No Brown Color, Junk Mail Flag
    3) Brown Color, Junk Mail Flag
On the issue of false positives, Mail also does a pretty good job, but it also makes mistakes 2 to 3 times a week (not a big deal, unless it is an important email). In these cases, the message IS moved to the Junk mailbox, however it is neither in a brown font color, nor is it flagged as Junk. In all cases, these messages (I checked) are either in my Contacts and are among my Previous Recipients or BOTH (sometimes I will have 3 messages in a day from the exact same e-mail sender, and 2 will be in Inbox, and 1 will be moved to Junk). Obviously I can not mark these as Not Junk, as they are not marked Junk!
To the best of my knowledge, I have NEVER marked messages from these senders as Junk.
I have just changed things over to Perform custom actions, where I have been very explicit about what is junk, and what to do with it. Hopefully this will fix things, problem is it will take a couple of weeks to be sure. So until then, I thought I would throw this question out there.
    Thanks!

    1) No Brown Color, No Junk Mail Flag
    2) No Brown Color, Junk Mail Flag
Your e-mail provider may have marked these as junk since there is no color. Check the web site to see if you can make an adjustment there.
