IPod Syncing Errors 50, 69, and 13019

I keep getting these errors in various timings when attempting to sync my iPod to either of my computers. It never happens on the same song, and there seems to be no rhythm or reason as to when I get each one.
The iPod is two years old, the computers I am using have Windows 7 and 8. I've been reading various solutions and trying all on either computer. So far I've tried:
1. Uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes.
2. Removing the iTunes genuis library.
3. Deleting the songs it catches on.
4. Unchecking "enable disk use."
5. Restoring the iPod.
None of these have helped any, and the songs the iPod *does* sync do not play. It will say it has synced about 400 songs, they show up on the iPod, but the play screen pops up, never moves, and no music is playing. Some songs it skips through immediately. Help?

If your iPod is still under warranty, bring it in to Apple store for the Genius to have a look and you may get a replacement, as you only got 74 Hours of playing time.
The iPod Hardisk definitely need to be replaced, as can be seen by the high numbers of start/stop, in trying to get a good cluster to write or read. The Realloc numbers will grow, as failed write cluster are reallocated.
Others may not agree, but I suspect your Hardisk maybe affected by being close, (within half inch), to another elctromagnetic source, like a magnet or a handphone transmission signal.
Have a nice day!

  • 5th Gen iPod Sync Error -48.  Please help.

I get a 5th Gen iPod Sync Error -48 on my iPod.. I get this both on my laptop and my desktop computer. I do not automatically put music on my iPod but when I try to add or delete things it does not keep the change after I disconnect.
I cannot restore my iPod as most files I am not able to recover.
I am running XP and both are COMPAQ.

i try to sync my ipod and all i get is a message saying cannot sync ipod unknown error (13019) has occurred. Can someone help me with this problem?

    Hello britty07,
    And welcome to Apple Discussions!
Although the article is intended for users with an iPhone or iPod Touch, several Nano owners who have ran into the same error, were able to resolve it by using the same steps.

  • Ipod sync error when syncing on new computer

I tried to sync my ipod to my new computer and when i connected it i clicked transfer my apps. This resulted in an error, and now it cannot sync to the new computer, and it wiped out all my apps, including the ones I paid for. Can anyone help?

Others have had this same issue with their iPhones in Windows 7 here. The same troubleshooting should apply. Some of the steps here may be worth trying.

  • Ipod sync error - error -48

connected my ipod to a powerbook G4 (usb 1.1) and tried to synch my ipod
it displayed the error message "failed to sync error -48"
Is it a USB issue or a sync issue (i.e. application issue??)

Early last week, I did spend a whole day to fix up my 3rd Gen iPod. I had tried every different way, and occasionally, it came up with the same error -48 message.
It seems that it was not a software nor hardware problems, but just an iPod itself.
The way I did was - to format the iPod with a PC, once it has been completed reconnect it back with your Mac
    For Window computer
    Go to folder “My Computer”
Hope you can see your iPod there and right click on the iPod
Choose “Format”. Ensure the settings are at “Default” and that “Quick Format” is not checked
    Now select “Format”
Eject your iPod and do a Reset
Open the iTunes 7 and click “Restore”

  • IPod Sync error -48, cannot update any longer

An intractable and frustrating problem has surfaced on my iPod and I’d appreciate any advice.
System: Powermac G5 Dual 2.0, iPod 80GB. All newest software, firmware, etc. installed.
Problem: A few weeks ago, after adding songs ripped from a CD, the iPod failed on the next sync. A dialog box appeared “Attempting to copy to the disk ‘Dons iPod’ failed. An unknown error occurred (-48).” I clicked OK and sometimes the same box would appear again. Then another dialog box, “The iPod ‘Dons iPod’ cannot be updated. An unknown error occurred (-48).” Clicked OK on that one, and the sync finishes and the iPod shows ‘update complete’ although none of the changed/added songs are added.
I did a full restore and reload and all was well…until my next sync after songs/podcasts were added. Then the error -48 dialog boxes came back and new info was not added. A full restore and reupdate went fine, but basically I cannot resync after a full update any longer.
Attempts to fix: Tried different cables and USB ports. Rebuilt the library per Apple’s technote. Emptied whatever iTunes caches I could find. Tried syncing only songs, not podcasts/photos/contacts. Enabled and disabled disk mode. My older 4GB nano still syncs perfectly, even adding new songs the bigger iPod rejects with the -48 error. My old 60GB photo always worked fine.
Any advice greatly appreciated! Thanks, Don

At the moment there seems to be no permanent fix for this. This is the workaround I'm currently using until a fix comes along.
Set up iTunes "not" to open when you connect the iPod.
Enable Disk Use on the iPod
Eject the iPod and shut down iTunes
Reconnect the iPod and open Disk Utility
Click on your iPod in the Utility pane and choose Repair Disk which will find and fix a number of errors.
Close Disk Utility and open iTunes and your iPod should connect and update as usual.
Keep the settings above and each time you connect the iPod run Disk Utility repair as above before opening iTunes. It's far from being a acceptable answer but until a permanent one comes along I've found that it works for me. I've tried the Apple advice of erasing the iPod in Disk Utility and restoring it in iTunes but found it only worked for a while before the error came back.

  • Ipod sync error (-48)

Hi, I am having a problem every time I try to sync my ipod with itunes. Every time I plug my ipod into the USB cord, I get an unknown error saying that I cannot sync. This did not always happen, it just recently happened afted I upgraded itunes. My son and I share the same itunes where i purchase the songs and videos. His ipod works, however mine unfortunately does not. Does anyone share a similar problem or knows how to solve this problem? Any help would be appreciated.

  • Audio midi sync error in logic and other apps

    hey everybody,
after a system update, all my audio apps freakout when they have to playback midi channels. audio tracks work perfectly in all apps i use but using midi just clips the cpu meter all the way. in live for example which i use 100% midi, droputs and digital distortion will occur alsmost as soon as i press play. in logic it will take a few more seconds until the audio sync error appears asking me to check external devices. the thing is, although i usually output to my mbox 2, i have disconnected everything i use and have been trying it with the built in outputs and it's still happening.
please note all of this was not happening before the update and the exact same projects played back fine before. i'm positive it's something to do with midi. for example ableton live has been creating text files to its preferences folder titled midijitter etc. etc.
    thanks for any bits help!
    cheers

    Hi,
I have the same problem. The problem happened after a system update (few days ago). I don't know which update caused this.(I updated several applications )
I re-installed Mac OS. I updated everything that the system updater suggested. And finally I tested with my applications. The problem still continues:
Sibelius, Pro Tools (and other applications using midi) can't play midi files correctly.
I also tested Quicktime; It can't play midi files correctly.
    Thanks

  • IPod sync failed. Disconnect and reconnect, then try again.

Over the past month or two, I have gotten this message quite frequently with my iPod. It usually happens after I sync my iPod once, leave it hooked up to my iMac for charging, and then try to sync again (sometimes not even more than a few minutes later). I also often have trouble getting my computer to recognize the iPod (or getting my iPod to recognize that it's supposed to start syncing) without having to disconnect and reconnect it and shake the USB cord around a few times.
I had a little bit of this problem with my iPod 5G and XP PC, though no "iPod sync failed" messages ever. This is a new iPod classic and an iMac. What's going on?
Does anyone else have this happen to them?

I'd been having this same issue and kept trying all the suggestions on the forums to no avail. Then I just disabled "Enable Disk Use", which required me to first disable "Manually manage music & videos". I unchecked all of my music, videos, podcasts and photos, applied the settings, then chose which media I wanted in my iPod. I synced successfully and even cleared it out completely a couple of times to re-sync. No issues anymore.

  • How do i copy Ipod classic songs to new computer when it says "Ipod synced with another library" and cannot find that library

Have a new PC and have a classic Ipod with about 6000 songs and had my itunes on an external HD a Maxtor One Touch II. Make a long story short the songs are not in the external HD no more songs. also looking in the C drive of the computer \My Music\itunes does not have the songs. Have checked hidden files so that I can see all the files. To make matters worse the I-tunes program on the external Maxtor was corrupted and the only way to fix it was to download a new itunes. So I wanted to repopulate the library but it appears I am not able to. Can anyone explain to me how I can copy my songs from the Ipod classic back to the library in the external HD?

I have about 6000 songs on my itunes library and i've filtered it down to 4500 on my ipod (so far) that I like and really listen to. I don't really want to go through all of that again...

  • Vista x64 and iPod Syncing Error (Error -81)

I have Vista x54 and the latest iTunes (7.1.1.5) and just got a brand-new 30GB Video 5.5 a few days ago. I started my sync on my library, but right in the middle I get this error - "Cannot Copy To Disk "IPOD" (-81)" I already restored my iPod several times and even completely removed all traces of iTunes, QT, etc and reinstalled, but to no avail... I've been using iTunes other functionalities for some time now on my Vista x64 just fine... What should I do? Is this a hardware problem - cause this iPod is spankin' new!!

Hmmm. You aren't getting the classic symptoms of the issue, but it might be worth checking for a Windows drive letter confusion on the PC, as per the following document:
Windows confuses iPod with network drive or hard drive and may keep iPod from mounting or songs may seem to disappear

  • IPod Sync Error after Upgrading to iTunes 10 and ios5

    Some help please,
I've upgraded to iTunes 10 and installed ios5 on to my iPod Touch and I cant now sync as iTunes reports that the backup is corrupted or not compatable with the iPod
    Thanks
    Kris

    Dear Mr. Sawyer,
To my surprise, the version is shown as 10.0.1.22. I will uninstall itunes and try loading the same again. After uninstalling do we need to delete any registry entries for Windows XP.
Thanks for your response and concern.

  • What is going on?-iPod sync  error

I keep getting this error: http://img487.imageshack.us/my.php?image=picture3sb2.png
I've restored the ipod several times... This last time, I just updated my iPod by playlists only and went through all my playlists one by one...After that, I tried doing the biggest playlist: the playlist that has all my music except the embarassing stuff, live music and all my jazz music... It then came up with the same error message again. I have about 20 gbs of music, and its up to 9ish right now.

    Hi Davis,
Have you checked out all of the suggestions from this article?:

  • IPod Sync Error

Hi! A few days ago I was running late to school, so I quickly pulled my iPod out of my computer while it was syncing. It still recognizes it, and my iPod works fine, but I can't sync it anymore. It's not syncing my plays from my iPod to my computer, and it's not adding new purchases/playlists from my computer to my iPod.
    What do I do?

my total music capacity is 50 gb but it doesnot copy to the ipod any ideas
Why not? What happens when you try? Any error messages? Does the iPod appear in iTunes?
