IPod syncing only certain tracks from iTunes

I have more music in iTunes than i have space in my iPod. I want to exclude certain tracks when I sync e.g. all tracks classified a Christmas genre.
Can i do this without having to set up all new playlists?

If you don't want to set up a playlist to sync from you can use unchecking of tracks and set the iPod to "Sync only checked songs and videos" in the Summary tab. Remove the check marks from beside the songs you don't want to sync and set the iPod up to ignore them. Alternatively set the iPod to manual and drag and drop what you want in the iPod from your iTunes library:
Managing content manually on iPod and iPhone
Syncing Music to iPod
There is a proviso about managing an iPod by unchecking songs, only use this option if you can live with the other things unchecking does:
Unchecked songs will be skipped when playing songs from the library or a selection. They will only play when individually clicked on.
Smart Playlists have an option that unchecked songs won't appear.
Unchecked songs will not be burned to CD.

  • How can I only sync only certain songs from itunes to ipod nano

    Hi
I have the latest version of iTunes and latest iPod Nano, with the older version of iTunes all I had to do was untick the songs and playlists I didn't want on my iPod and they wouldn't sync.
They are still unticked, but they as sync with my new one and my iTunes library is huge.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Kirsty

I have checked my selections and everything that I don't want on my iPod is unchecked, but yet still syncing.  I have even tried to manually select songs and it's still syncing everything.

  • Sync only new music from itunes library

Does anyone know how to sync only NEW music from the itunes library to the iphone? I am following the basic help instructions and if I select certain songs, albums, playlists, etc. then it syncs ONLY those that I check. i.e. none of the music that was already on the iphone is there anymore. It's almost as if every time I sync the iphone I have to check ALL music that I want to be sync'd. And that's including music that was already on the iphone. How do I sync ONLY NEW songs from my itunes library, without losing what's on it beforehand?

i want to know if i can simply 8 songs to my iphone without changing the status of the existing songs on the phone.
Yes, which I've already answered, but I guess I haven't provided the answer in a clear enough manner.
How are you adding songs to your iPhone now?
Are you syncing all songs and playlists or selected playlists?
Do you have sync only checked songs and videos selected under the Summary tab for your iPhone sync preferences?
These are the settings I'm using:
Sync only checked songs and videos under the Summary tab for my iPhone sync preferences.
Under the Music tab for my iPhone sync preferences, I have sync selected playlists selected.
I created a playlist with iTunes named iPhone. I have my iPhone playlist selected to be synced or transferred to my iPhone - along with a few other playlists.
I add the songs from my iTunes library to my iPhone playlist that I want available on my iPhone.
If I want to add 10 additional songs to my iPhone that are not currently on my iPhone, I add the 10 songs to the iPhone playlist. When syncing, the 10 new songs added to the iPhone playlist are transferred to my iPhone only with no songs removed from my iPhone. If I want to remove 10 songs from my iPhone, I remove the 10 songs from the iPhone playlist and then sync. The 10 songs removed from the iPhone playlist are the removed from my iPhone with no other changes - unless I add new songs to the playlist and remove others at the same time before syncing. The songs added to the playlist are transferred to my iPhone and the songs removed from the playlist are removed from my iPhone only when syncing. No other songs already on my iPhone are touched/removed with this process - unless I make a change to my iPhone playlist.

  • How do I select only certain songs from itunes library to upload to my iphone?

Trying to free up some memory and my whole itunes library is loaded on my phone.  Is there a way to select only certain songs to sync with my phone?

When your iphone is connected to iTunes, go to the phone section, go to options and then select "Sync only checked songs and videos".  Then go to yotur iTunes music library, and check only the songs you want.  If you are viewing the library in the "songs" option the check boxes are next to the songs.  If you are viewing from the "album" view, you have to right-click each song and select check.

  • Restoring only certain things from itunes backup

    Hi,
Something on my iPhone 4 is causing my battery to drain from 100% to empty in around 4 hours.  I know it's definitely no the battery because I have had it replaced and the battery is draining the same.  I have reset the phone so it just has the welcome screen on (like it does when you first switch it on when it is brand new).  The battery lasts ages when the phone is like this so it must be some setting or app I have installed causing the battery drain.  Because of this, I would like to just import my contacts from my iTunes backup so that I can start from scratch again, but I can't work out the best way to do this.
Can someone help me do this please?
    Thanks

The restore from backup process is all or nothing, there is no way to selectively restore data. If all you want are your contacts, just sync them from a supported contact application on your computer, back to your phone. If your contacts are not in a supported application, you will have to use third-party software to extract them from your iPhone backup:

Just to recap, this is a collection of ports I have collected over time for people who needed this information when setting up the HP ePrint app so that they could view their email from within the app.  I am certain other applications also need this information.  Although lengthy, I could not find a more comprehensive place to retrieve this information.  Feel free to post additional information, faulty information, or other related topics below as this is simply a collection of data and it would be practically impossible to test all of them. Thank you!

If you check songs, simply sync the entire library.
But I highly recommend (and it is far simpler) to create a playlist (or multiple playlists) and select only that playlist to sync.
    Leave everything checked.
Then simply add/remove from these playlists and sync away.

How do I stop this happening?

Did you dlete it form iTunes and then sync?
Did you try swipingleft or right the song on the iPod and then tapping the delete button that comes up?

  • Problems downloading music tracks from iTunes library to iPod Nano 2nd gen.

    Hi
I am a new iPod user and have purchased tracks from iTunes and downloaded them to my iPod successfully. I also copied some tracks from a CD to the iTunes software and the next time I synched the iPod it copied all but three tracks onto the iPod on the CD OK. Although the three problem tracks display the title etc information on the iPod they won't play at all on the iPod even though they work fine on my PC using the iTunes library. The CD is a (relatively) new one - Hank Plays Cliff. Why do some tracks load to the iPod but not others?
Thanks for any advice for a silver surfer!
    John

I recently had this problem with a Bowling for Soup CD purchased from iTunes Store. iTunes support referred me to this document for assistance http://www.info.apple.com/kbnum/n300766. When this did not work, they reposted the songs to my account so that I could download them again. When that still did not work, they determined there was a problem with the songs themselves and refunded my purchase price.

  • Copying certain tracks from old iTunes to new library

I have iTunes on the Mac OS 9 partition of a G3 iMac and want to copy certain tracks from that into the iTunes library of my iTunes on my Mac Mini OS X.4.8 I have in the past copied entire libraries between computers using firewire, but this time I just want to add to my present computer a few tracks that are in the old one.
I remember about a year ago reading about a utility whereby you set up the two libraries side by side onscreen and moved whatever track you wanted across in either direction. I can't locate that or remember the name.
    Any help appreciated.

    Hi there,
I copied the whole entire iTunes folder into my music directory on my new mac (as I had my own account on his mac), and then once that was done I dragged and dropped this folder onto my iTunes icon.
It's imported playlists, but not star ratings.
Is there something I should have done before exporting my music onto my hardrive in the first place? I've read somewhere about exporting ratings or exporting playlists or something....
    Cheers,
    Hannah
