IPod syncs 4% of my songs

I upgraded my iPod today with the (dreadful) 1.2 update. At first, I didn't seem to have any problems that people here are having. After a while, though, I noticed that most of my songs had not been updated to my iPod. Out of the 3700 that I had prior to the update, there are now 157.
I tried to fix this problem by restoring the iPod. This yielded the same result. I then tried downloading a previous updater. After a blistering headache and loads of error windows, I ended up not being able to downgrade to a previous updater because I am told to use iTunes 7 to update. Finally, I tried reinstalling iTunes 6, but my library would not load, and the program wouldn't open. I am now right back where I started, with iTunes 7 and the not-so-cool-anymore 1.2 update.
DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS OR PLANS OF ACTION FOR ME TO TRY TO GET ALL OF MY SONGS SYNCED ONTO MY IPOD?

I just kept plugging in and unplugging my 5G ipod until it was recognized correctly as a black video ipod (took about 3 attempts) and let it sync all my media successfully once. It will not be plugged back into my mac again until a new firmware/iTunes is released.

Why won't my iPod sync all of my songs?

I have all of my songs checked, and I have it checked under settings that it should sync my whole library. I have enough memory on my iPod, but yet it still will not sync all of my songs and neither will my iPad. Also, I have all the rights to purchased music and my computer is authorized to play them. Can someone please help me? I have erased my iPod twice and tried updating and syncing it but it still won't work.

I didn't ever say it was the problem. I was trying to get more information as to how your iPod was set up to sync. That might have led to a solution. Either way, glad to hear you managed to get it figured out!

Ipod sync quits after 9 songs

I'm trying to sync my iPod touch with my iTunes library on my PC. I have previously done this successfully many times. The sync quits after about 9 songs are transferred. I imported several CDs and they show up with the red square inside the red circle. I've read forums on this issue which suggest a couple things 1) from the PC in iTunes, go to Files>Devices>Transfer Purchases. or 2) removing all music from the iPod & then resyncing it & adding all the music back in. I'dc like to avoid this if there's a simpler solution. Also wondering why my sync keeps cancelling after about 9 or 10 songs are trasnferred. Any ideas?

Thanks. I had read this and numerous related posts. None of them worked for me. What I ended up doing was unchecking all my music in my iTunes library on my PC (Windows), then doing a sync which removed all the music from my iPod.
I then rebooted PC and iPod (don't know if this was really necessary), went back into iTunes, checked the button to resync my entire music library. Everything was restored & now works fine. All the previously red circled songs (meaning they didn't sync) that started me on this quest are now playable on my iPod.
Weird behavior. It sounds like many people have had variations of this problem. Prior to my running into this issue, I could import CDs & other music & sync worked just fine. I'd prefer not to see this happen again.

IPod syncs 18 gb of songs then stops

I've been having some trouble with my fourth gen. ipod, I've restored it a couple times but I'm realizing that it will only sync up to 18 gb of music and then it freezes both the ipod and itunes. Anyone have any ideas what might be wrong with it?

I recently had my 20G 3rd Generation replaced with a refurbished model through Best Buys service exchange program.
When I sync the new ipod to Itunes, it only transfers around 9 gb of songs (I only have 12 gb of music), then itunes just freezes.
After I disconnect the ipod, I see that only 500 mb of songs actually made it into the Ipod. What happen to the other 8.5 gb of songs that was suppose to be transfered?
After syncing the ipod for the second, third, and fourth time, only 500 mb is stored shown in the ipod, even though 6-8 gb of music was transfered before locking up.

When I try to sync my iPod with iTunes I can't because it says it's over capacity. It's not. It's a 16 GB iPod, it's only 105 songs on there. No movies or pictures or such. Anybody got a word of advise?

I've tried all the usual stuff.

Go to Settings > General > Usage and see how much is shown available and how much is in "Other".

Here goes. My iPod touch has all my songs on it. I have changed computers several times and iTunes has a library of similar but not as many songs as iPod. When I plug iPod in ans go to sync it says that iTunes library will replace iPod songs.

Since I downloaded iTunes 11, I get a message when syncing my iPod that some of my songs were not copied because they are not authorized on this computer, I go to Store Authorize This Computer, a message pops up telling me that this computer is already.

So I am unclear, did you purchase these songs or import them from a cd?
If you imported them and still have the CD try importing them again and see if they work the delete the others.
Or if you purchased from itunes re-dowwnload and see if they work. Maybe they are corrupted files and this should resove it.

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately this has not worked. I didn't have quicktime to begin with so I don't know if that makes a difference? After following the instructions, I get the "registry keys missing" problem appear again (which I've subsequently fixed again) and then when I connected the ipod I got the following message - 'Device driver software was not successfully installed'.
I've tried windows update but this doesn't do anything as '...the service is not running'.
Any suggestions?

Yes I've done a reset but it made no difference.

This just happened to me this morning. When I left work on Friday, everything was working in iTunes. And now this morning, I open up iTunes and nothing plays. I did all the troubleshooting from http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93610 and nothing helped. Anyone have any ideas???
