Ipod takes forever to turn on

Well what i mean is it takes forever to get to the locksceen? Like I press the power button (not shutting it off) but sometimes when i press it again it wont come on, I know the power button isnt broken, its just really confusing then randomly comes to the lockscreen in a few mintues, sometimes it works fine, just really bugs me

Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • IPod takes forever to update with iTunes 7.0

Has anyone else noticed that each time you update your iPod with version 7.0 that it takes forever, regardless of how many additions you have to your library?
Recently I purchased ONE song for the music store and wanted to take it with me on my iPod. Typically the process only took a few minutes. Now it seems to take 30-60 minutes on my iPod in which I have a little over 5000 songs?!?! Is it rewriting each and every file?
This makes it frustrating, especially when you want to update and go. My iPod sat at home since I had to go.
I love Apple, but they really messed up with this shoddy upgrade.

I am also experiencing the exact same problem. No matter what, even if I'm just putting my iPod on its dock to charge it goes into an "Updating iPod" and then sits there updating for roughly 30 mins to an hour. This has been very frustrting since upgrading to 7.0.X

  • Ipod takes forever to update and never copies any songs, videos, podcasts

(30gb 5th gen late 2006) Updating takes forever, so i restored the ipod, and then right after i restore, it updates games, then it updates nothing else, but still says that ipod is updating. I have done this multiple times with the same result, any suggestions?

what version of itunes are you using for the restore, Fronzie? to check, in itunes go "help > about itunes" and wait for the version number to scroll up from the bottom of the screen.
if you've got an itunes 7.0.0.70 or 7.0.1.8, try upgrading to 7.0.2.16. does the restore go through any better using a 7.0.2.16?

  • Ipod takes forever, replacement ipod? please read

My ipod takes the LONGEST time to update songs from itunes to my ipod mini. It took at least an hour to put 50 songs on my ipod, compared to its usual time at about 2-3 minutes. Also, my ipod says on itunes when i drag the songs to put on the ipod, it says, "updating ipod, do not disconnect" but it doesn't put the songs on the ipod. I've had so many problems with this ipod, if I send it back will they give me a mini ((even though they're not made anymore)) or will they replace it with a nano or a regular ipod?
    thanks!

i really have no clue what USB i have. previous problems made me create a new "drive" for the ipod. i have had so many problems with this ipod. earlier today, i was in the car when realized that for the 3rd time, my entire ipod was once again deleted. I just tried putting new songs on the ipod and got an error. I'm getting very sick of this and am definately sending the ipod back. Question, my name is on the back of the ipod -- will they still send me a new one? thanks

  • Convert to use on Ipod - takes FOREVER!!!!!

I have a very fast computer with 2G of ram. However it is taking at least 2.5 hours to convert a 25min Twilight Zone episode for usage on my Ipod.
I was converting all night and I only converted 6 shows. this is too slow what you are trying to put a season of shows on your ipod....
Is it supposed to take that long or is there something I can do to speed things up a bit?

Knock down the bit rate. Unless you're going to watch these on TV, you don't need 1500. I've been using 600 and it's fine. Things that will eat up processor time: using the H264 encoder, worse if you use the new version that allows 640x480, 2-pass encoding, multiple audio tracks, bumped up audio sampling rate (I use 160). I ripped PotC:Deadman's Chest the other night, and it took about 24 hours because I elected to do 2-pass encoding. Looking at the end result, I probably should have used a slightly higher bit rate, as the dark scenes on shipboard showed a fair amount of artifacts. On the iPod, they don't matter, but on the TV or computer screen, they show up.
And, well, Handbrake is just dog-slow. I know most of the other conversion programs are as well (VLC is slow and the output *****). But it's the 640x480 size that's killing me. If I were willing to convert to 320x240, it'd probably take my conversion times down to less than a half of what I'm seeing now.

  • My iPod is forever stuck turning itself on and off

so i just barely opened my 30G ipod today, got about 3G of music and movies on it, had some trouble with syncing stuff, and then suddenly it shut itself off, and back on, over and over all while making a weird clicking sound. i tried restoring it, and nothing happens. help?

i have a similar problem...i can't turn my ipod off. i hold down the pause button and the screen goes black, but i press any button and it turns back on w/o the apple symbol. i thought maybe i was stupid and it just changed format for turning on, but the battery drains as if it were still on. am i stupid or is my ipod acting weird? help!! it wont hold a charge for more than a few hours.

  • Why does my iPhone take forever to turn on?

Recently my iPhone 4S (iOS 5.0.1) takes at least 10 minutes to power on after the battery dies.  Sometimes up to 30 minutes.  Any idea what could be causing this?  Obviously I'll do a full restore if I have to, but trying to avoid that if possible.  My phone is NOT jailbroken either.  Thanks!

First, it is not good for the battery to run it into the ground -- don't do that often if you expect it to last.  When this happens, the phone needs to build up enough charge to boot up safely, which probably explains the 10 minute delay.

hmm it could be defective, i have personally never had this problem, or known anyone that has, they usually load right away. It could be that your photos are to big, so they take a long time to load, or you have to many photos, other than that i have no idea

  • IPod Syncing Takes Forever On Mac

I have a iPod Classic 120GB that I have running with iTunes on my Mac.  I have syncing disabled on the device in iTunes.  However, it seems like every time I plug my iPod in, iTunes starts syncing it.  It takes forever to do this.  It can sometimes be a couple of hours to finish.  I can't seem to figure out why this continues to happen when I have syncing turned off.  I also can't seem to figure out why it takes so long and why it will not let me cancel the process once it has started.  Can anyone provide any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Mike

Here's one that helped me after hours of troubleshooting and lost data....
I changed my cable! Apparently my cables were no good? So I bought a new one... (really APPLE? I have to "buy" a new one?)
FINALLY IT WORKS!!!! I know it sounds simple, but it worked for me. Hope this helps.

  • Is there an easy way to download my music from the iCloud to iTunes library on my new PC desktop so I can sync my iPod?  I have iMatch and cannot figure out how to do it in one fell swoop rather than by downloading each song, which will take forever!

    Hi,
I have taken over my son's old PC desktop tower as it has more memory than my old PC.  I installed iTunes on it and have accessed via my iMatch account my music library that's in the iCloud.  I need to download it to the iTuned library on the desktop so I can sync my iPod.  I can only see how to do it song-by-song, which will take forever for my almost 5000 songs.  Is there a way to dowload the entire library in one fell swoop, letting it download without me having to do each song individually or monitor it?
    Thanks,
    RSG

Select all songs ctrl A, right click - Download.

If you're on windows try the following:
This worked for me an hour ago and has allowed me to sync ok. Still haven't tried downloading the new version 5 to the phone yet as I'm still backing up photos etc just in case.
    1. Quit itunes
    2. Start an elevated command prompt (Start Menu -> All Programs -> Accessories -> right click Command Prompt -> Run as Administrator)
    3. Once in the command prompt type the following 3 words starting where your cursor is flashing: netsh winsock reset
    4. press ENTER
    5. Reboot your machine
    6. Restart itunes & connect device to sync
    7. Good luck
