Ipod takes tooo long to sync

my ipod touch 5 gen is taking so long to sync, it usualy goes really fast, but now its just stuck on step 8out of 8 ' waiting for changes to apply'. i deleted and reinstalled itunes but nothing. my laptop charger is also broken, so the battery ran out before it could finish syncing, so i have to get a new charger to see how long it actualy takes... any suggestions?

sadly it didnt help, i got my new laptop charger, and its been like 2 hours syncing now BUT after like 30 min the it started going through all my songs on the progress bar, which it DIDNT do before but it was after a half hour, and i didnt wait that long the previous times. but now its stuck on step 8 of 8 waiting to COPY ITEMS, and above that it says copying artwork ( im asuming album covers). i went through my ipod tho and a bunch of songs that stopped working are back playing, and my videos are back on. its still, this sync time is rdicuous

  • Ipod touch 1g takes awfully long to sync

    hey there,
especially after the recent ipod software and the itunes 8.1 update, my ipod takes much longer than it usually did to sync. itunes also crashes while syncing. what should i do?
    thanks!

This is an iSync problem rather than a iTunes iPod problem. Here are some thoughts.
First, I assume you did not individually sync those 60K records. I bet you bailed out/quit. If you did happen to sync them you are crazy-tired by now or you wisely selected "Do this action for all disagreements," or whatever it says. It only asks you for corrections on inconsistencies. If you did this, the next sync should be a normal sync and take very little time.
Either way, fire up iSync. Select Preferences. And click Reset Sync History. If it is greyed out, wait. This should fix inconsistencies.
Then when you sync, if you know the Mac information is correct, you can tell iTunes to just overright the iPod data with the Mac data for each of your data sources (e.g., iCal, Address Book, etc.) It will do that once on the next sync.

  • Why does it take so long to sync my iphone?

I am syncing my iphone and it takes mad long when syncing the bookmarks, what are the bookmark? why do it take this long?

8 hours later and it is reading "finishing sync" which I believe is past Step 5 and I have no idea when the "finish" will occur and am afraid to disconnect/interrupt the sync. The current version of itunes (11) is installed and syncing Microsoft Outlook (about 400 contacts, calendar, etc) for the first time.  What should I do next besides wait?

  • Why do photos take so long to sync with my iPod touch?

Recently my 60Gb iPod touch has been taking longer and longer to sync photos. Music, movies, apps, etc are all ok, its just pictures taking a very long time indeed.
I have tried resetting and erasing all data to start from scratch but I still have the same issue. For instance, I set the iPod syncing at 0830 this morning, went out for the day and as I type now at 2215, (well over 12 hours later) iTunes says it is 'optimizing photo 4103 of 9713'. Not only that, it only appears to be optimizing 1 photo every minute or so. Do the math, its going to take forever to complete the process!
I know its a lot of photos, but it never used to be problem. I should mention that my data is on a remote Netgear Stora 1Tb drive, but I dont see how this would make a difference, as music, movies, etc are copied over extremely fast. It is only photos that are causing me problems.
I would be grateful if anyone can point me in the right direction on this one.
    Cheers,

A couple of items, one of which has already been mentioned: Picture size. Another is picture type; jpegs seem to load faster.
iOS4 has several new bells and whistles, which may affect things. Things like folders, multitasking, etc. also consume processing speed. The iPod isn't like my MacBook which processes things really quickly. It should; it has more processing capability.
As a side note, part of the issue may be iTunes for Windows itself. (No proof, but the iPod is an Apple gadget, and as such works slightly better with a Mac. Slightly is the key word here.)
Finally...the iPod is, at the end of the day, a music device--not a pocket sized photo album. That it can hold every digital picture one has taken in the last five years is not really relevant. It can hold video clips, pictures, etc. but it's still a device for music and some well-crafted apps. The hope is that, in the next update of iOS4, the picture issue (because you're not alone) can/will be resolved.
    Now...
    1. I tried answering this above.
    2. You might want to check your settings for photos. It shouldn't be optimizing every time you synch, I wouldn't think, unless you are adding or changing pictures.
You can fill your iPod with whatever you want. From Computer Science 225: All an iPod is, is a fancy HD like what is on a computer. The more you put on the HD, the slower it takes to get where you want to go. This is why it is recommended if you get to with 10-15% of full on your HD, you remove stuff--or get a larger HD and migrate everything on the old HD to it. Even a SSD like the iPod touch has a limit, based on processor speed and available memory.

  • Why does it take so long to sync my music to my iphone 5s

    Hello All
I have an iPhone 5s with 16 gigs. I use a PC with Windows 7 home Premium. All software (iTunes) and operating systems are at the latest versions, I update whenever prompted. My problem is it takes FOREVER to sync music with my iPhone. One song can take 15 to 30 minutes or more. I dig out an old iPod nano and that synched the music in no time at all. I am at a loss as to why this takes so long. Can anyone help me?

I have this aggravating issue as well, only I just have an iPhone 4s 16GB (yes, STILL!).  One of the (many) reasons I haven't upgraded is the deteriorating performance factors induced by Apple.  If it takes forever to sync just a 16GB iPhone, syncing a 64GB or 128GB iPhone must be an all day test of aggravation!  Since I'm finding no credible or relevant answers here I thought I'd post my observations.  When I watch the sync process, I can see that the procedure backs up my iPhone data, removes it from the phone, then reinstalls it again with any updates to the data since the last sync.  This is a programming "feature".  I don't know what the reasons are for not designing the sync process to handle only changed data as in any other data backup process.  Maybe it's laziness at Apple, maybe it's a technical issue that their programmers are incapable of solving, or maybe there's a monitoring aspect involved that this method allows Apple to collect information on users more effectively.  I just don't know their reasons for this, or many baffling things they do.  I do know that if their corporate data backups were performed in the same manner in which the iPhone sync is performed, there would never be a break in the backup processes at Apple, nor would the process ever complete.  It's ludicrous to program the SW (iTunes) run this inefficiently.  I can't fathom having a larger capacity iPhone and dealing with the constant aggravation of what must be hours to sync simple data changes caused only by the poor routine programmed into iTunes.  From what I can see, it's basically like loading a blank phone every time I want to sync data.  Completely ridiculous as far as I can tell.  Even if the reasoning is to remove dead sectors, blank sectors etc, I'd think with all the money Apple has and makes on a quarterly basis, they could afford to spend the time and money in R&D to make the sync process a **** of lot more tolerable for users.

  • Should it take this long to sync my Nano for the first time? Nine hours and counting!!!

New Nano. Installed itunes on my laptop...moved all my music into the library. Checked the songs I want on my and chose to sync the lower 128kbps for syncing. Started this sync over nine hours ago and am a little over halway done syncing the 8.6gb of audio. Should it take this long? Is this what I can expect everytime I sync my ipod?

No you shouldn't expect this everytime you sync your Nano.  The conversion process to 128 kpbs AAC option may be the cause of the issue.  However, they should now be already converted, so the next time you sync your iPod, it should only take a fraction of the amount of time it has this first time.
In short, no need to worry.

  • Ipod takes too long to connect

I just bought an 80 gb 5.5 gen ipod last week and everything was great, but now when i plug it into the PC it takes too long to detect it as a disc drive and once i open the itunes it takes too long to show the info i have stored, and sometimes only shows the music folder (no movies, tvshows, podcasts, etc) Is something wrong with my ipod?
Maybe is because of the songs and videos i already have... but i have more than 60 gb free.
It has also crashed twice while using the search feature, it just resets for itself.
Windows XP Pro   1.5 Ghz, 512 mb RAM

Alright so I found the answer to part of my question just now. Thinking when I first got my iPod Touch, I remembered that backups weren't as long. Then I thought to when things started getting worst, and I figured out that it started when I put too many apps on my iPod. So i removed all of them and my backup was the fastest I've seen in a while. Then I just but back the ones I really wanted and everything seems fine....for now.

  • Why ipod touch no longer will sync

My new iPod touch synched when I first transferred from my old iPod Touch. Why will it no longer synch?

    Maybe:
iTunes for Windows  "error -42110" messages when launching iTunes: Apple Support Communities
    "Error 3001,"  "-42110," or "5103"
This alert is related to iTunes Store movie rentals and authorization issues.
Make sure you are using the most recent version of iTunes and QuickTime. They both can be downloaded free of charge.
If your iTunes is up to date, remove the SC Info folder.

  • 30 gig Ipod will no longer completely sync

i have had my IPod for about 10 months and all of a sudden when I was syncing it last week to add a song it erased most of IPod. Now it will only use 1gig of memory to sync when I had 10gig on it before. It holds 30. I get a error -69 message every time I try to sync it. I tried restoring and ran the Apple diagnostics from the help menu. No joy. Can anyone please help me. I hate running or just sitting in the airport without my music and video.

The following document is worth a try:

This is the Mac OS X Technologies > iSync forum. You are a Windows iPod user, which is nothing to do with iSync on Mac OS X.
Please post your question in a more suitable forum, such as the Connecting your iPod to Windows forum.

  • Asf to ipod takes too long...

    Hello,
After buying flip4mac WMV and trying, it works. However, the convertion of a 54 mb file (1.04 hrs of video) is going to take FOREVER (it shows a gigantic number of hours to end the proocess), may be I am missing something...
    Thanks for any help,

The "canned" presets use H.264 video codec which, depending on your computers CPU, take a lot of power and a long time.
54MB's doesn't seem plausible for an hour of video and sound. Maybe 540MB's?

  • Ipod takes many times to sync one item

I tell me ipod touch to sync so that I can have a either a new song or a new app, and it won't go on there. I click sync for the second time and it's still not there. After about the 4th or 5th time the item will finally be on there. I have restored it more than 10 times and it still does it! PLEASE HELP!!!!

I have the latest itunes on my computer the 10.1.1
I can wait a hour and it still won't be on there and i have to sync it many tims
I am thinking about taking it back to the store because it also crashes a lot

  • Why does it take so long to sync email?

I mean, if an email comes and I read it on my PC then that should make it as "it is already read in my z10" too. But this takes around 15-20 minutes to sync up, does anyone face this ?

Gmail can at times be almost instant but not always.
As mentioned above, Exchange Active Sync (EAS) accounts are normally very instant to sync. Your gmail is likely an IMAP account and slower.

  • Would a 64GB iPad take longer to sync than 32GB?

I have been using 16GB iPhones for a few years and am getting ready to buy an iPad.
I have a LOT of music and movies and am really leaning towards buying a 64gb model so I will be able to keep more with me
(I have limited access to 3G and to WIFI sites so "streaming" it or using iCloud often wouldn't work for me).
My only concern about getting the 64GB model is... I am wondering if it will take significantly longer to sync a 64GB iPad than a 32GB model.
Anybody have any real-world experience with this sort of thing?
I know there are going to be a lot of variables involved....
I'm just curious how much does the total memory capacity affect sync times?

Wow - thanks for a quick reply!
    I understand what you're saying.
Theoretically if I have two units - a 64GB unit and a 32GB unit and I am loading up 25GB of music they should take the same amount of time to sync.
    Theoretically.
But the real world doesn't always work out like expected.
So - I'm looking for firsthand comments/experience with this.
