Ipod that I just found after about 4 years.

Hello,
Can anyone help me with my first or second generation ipod? I'm an old guy who just found my ipod after about 4 years. I have tried everything to restore it and I keep getting error messages. At first, Itunes finds the Ipod, starts the restore then I get an error message that it can complete it because it can't locate it. I don't have anything on it I need to save I just want it to swipe clean and then I will start again. CAN ANYONE HELP? Thank you!

Here is the problem: The tab where you go to sync music to your iPod and shows the list of artists and songs you want to sync to the iPod, the tab I can get to but the list of songs and artists does not show up and the only way I can sync music to my iPod is to basically wipe my iPod and start from scratch. Obviously, I do not want to do that because I do not have all the songs in my library that I have on my iPod. I have uninstalled iTunes and then re-installed it, but it did not work and I do not know what else to do. I would really appreciate helpful guidance to get it fixed if it can be fixed. No. You can turn your 6G Nano in to be recycled at your local Apple Store for a 10% discount towards the purchase of a new one. Otherwise, your only other option would be to sell the iPod on Craigslist or eBay and use the proceeds from the sale towards the purchase of the new 7G nano.

You have outdated iOS software so without upgrading it first there is little you can do. A restore will force you to upgrade as 5.1.1 is no longer signed.

Everyone is often so quick to bash all these 'cleaning' utilities but rarely give any solutions.
There's a lot of critiques and endless lists of what NOT to do to avoid performance problems.

I have no problem if it's not fixable. I've always assumed operating systems outgrow their hardware's capacity to keep up, and sell my old one for a new one, no prob.

After about a year my dvds deteriorate

I'm having problems w/ dvds I've created in iDVD. Initially, they play fine. But after about a year, the image starts breaking-up and ultimately freezes.
I keep good care of my dvds, really I do. I keep theme in cases & handle them carefully. It's also happening to copies, that I've given to other people.
Also, these are dvds that are seldom played. The damage may be occurring earlier than after a year.
What's going on? Any ideas?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. A lot will depend on the quality of the media used. The most recommended media in these forums is Verbatim-R disks. They have the highest concentration of dye in the layer. What brand did you use?
Also when finishing an iDVD project it's recommended to use the File->Save as Disk Image so as to separate the encoding process from the burning process. The disk image can be played with DVD Player and if all is well then you can proceed with the burning process with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed possible. This method lets you save the disk image for burning at a later date in case the original disks are lost or damaged.

I found the apple webpage that is supposed to help me, but when i went to the LAN settings in the control panel i found that 'Automatically detect settings" was already checked. If yo mean the iPod will not connect to your wifi network:
Does the iPod connect to other networks?
Do other devices now connect?
Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost

least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Power off and then back on the router
- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings

Just found out about 45 day return policy

Hello I'm a elite status rewards member and I rarely return anything. I just learned about the 45 day return policy. I want to exchange a Nintendo 3ds xl I bought for a Ps Vita. Bad thing is I found out about the 45 day policy today and my 45 day mark was 3 days ago is there any chance I can still exchange this. I still have my receipt and every thing it came with.

Bought an Xbox One yesterday, but just found out about an upcoming promotion.

Apparently the promotion is limited in time (from 1pm-4pm), so I'm a little wary about if there will be anything that you could do for me.
I'm assuming it might be possible to go to the store a return my (online) order there, and rebuy it at the store to qualify for the promotion, but because it was an online order, can they resell me the online stock item right then and there? That's assuming I have the console by then since it just shipped out today.
Another problem I had was that I qualified for 10% cashback with my Discover Card by shopping through Shop Discover (5% + 5% Seasonal for all online shopping) - if I were to return it, I wouldn't qualify for that anymore.
The main reason for the card and console being on the same receipt is that if they were on seperate, returns would be an issue. If that's the case, would it be possible to issue me the 12 month XBL code after my return period on my Xbox One is up (2 weeks)? That would seemingly solve my delemia.
The last thing that I forgot to mention was that the console I ordered was the limited edition Sunset Overdrive Bundle - which is in high demand and sold out nearly everywhere. If I didn't order it when I did, I probably wouldn't have gotten it.

In Car iPod Classic 160 cutting out after about 2 mins

I have a Kenwood KDC6537u car headunit with the KCA iP200 cable and an iPod classic 160gb. Everything seems fine and runs well for about 2 mins when I get a 'iPod Err' display. The display on the iPod goes back from the 'Kenwood' screen to the normal iPod screen. Switching the unit off and on restarts the iPod only to stop again after another two minutes or so. Is there something that I need to reset on the iPod to stop this. I've upgraded the headunit to the latest available from kenwood so I'm now stuck.
Any help would be appreciated.

Further to the description I have done two journeys where this didn't happen and all was well. This makes for even more frustration. Kenwood can't offer anything other than to reset the iPod which didn't work. They also suggest there may be a fault in part of the 'chain' of bits but I don't have the capability to check - I only have one of each bit so can't compare.
Anyone have any suggestions? Please?

This is usually a sign that your headphones are not plugged all the way in. Make sure you cannot see any silver still showing from the headphone's plug. It may require a little extra force to get the headphones to become fully inserted. You should hear a sort of clicking noise indicating that they have been fully seated.
Also check the headphone port from a damage or debris.

Additional things to try.
Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
On your iPad go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset network settings and see if that enables you to connect.

HT1320 iPod Nano 6th stops playing after about 1.5 minutes

I listen to long poscasts. After about 1.5 minutes, the play stops. I've updated, reset. No success.

I read the answer on this forum.
The jack receiver was cluttered with pocket lint. Use a needle to help you pick/tap/blow the stuff out.
When it could not detect the headphone jack, the iPod turned off. Once the jack was detected (with the clean receiver) , everything good.

TS3276 Mail import just stops after about 180 - 250 Mails! What's wrong?

I just bought a new Macbook and used Migration Assistant to get all my files from my old to my new one.
Now, when I open Mail it tells me that it needs to import my e-mails (which is good, I want it to do that).
I know that all my mails are on my computer, I can see the files in the library.
BUT: The import starts, goes on for a couple of seconds until about 200 Mails (out of 12000) are important and then the number just doesn't go up anymore. Only the remaining time keeps going up and up. What is wrong? What can I do?

Lots to be excited about. BUT...Just updated to 8.1 on one of my computers to test it out...
Sadly, the following issue is NOT fixed for me. Is it with new projects only? I haven't started a new project on 8.1 I've only opened an old project but the issue that I'm referring to which involves also a delay/freeze of anywhere from a few seconds to a MINUTE while the render bar goes from yellow to red and then back to yellow is still there. Boo.
On the list above...
Switching between sequences can turn the render bar red.
This issue is incredibly easy to replicate. I really do hope it gets fixed. Here are the steps:
1) Create two sequences with multiple short clips (the more clips the better)
2) Make sure GPU acceleration is enabled.
3) Add warp stabilizer to the clips in both sequences. Again, the more clips the longer the delay/freeze will be as the render bar goes from YELLOW to RED and then eventually back to YELLOW again.
4) Hit SAVE.
5) Now, toggle between sequences. You'll hit a short delay with a few clips stabilized and a LONG delay with lots stabilized. In my case this delay is around a full minute. The render bar will go from YELLOW to RED and then back to yellow...eventually.
6) Toggle back to the original sequence and the delay occurs again.
7) Once you've toggled between sequences and have gone through this delay, that's it, there is no longer a delay...UNTIL...(and here's the big kicker)...until the project is SAVED again. After that the issue returns when you toggle between sequences. Both saving manually and AUTOSAVING cause this issue. No way around it except not editing with GPU acceleration.
Not sure what the issue is...caching issue when saving maybe? Either way, it stinks and it's still there in 8.1. Big bummer.
Again, lots to be excited about with this release but I really was hopefully this specific issue was resolved.
Sigh.
