IPod through my home stereo.

I now have my entire CD collection on my iPod classic, some 700 CD`s, about. I have connected to it my 70`s system ( a JVC 80 watts per channel amplifier (RMS) and excellent Bowers and Wilkins speakers. The sound is not as good as from CD`s, but ok. How could I improve it? I just bought the Bowers and Wilkins headphones too which I highly recommend......sounds like an ad for B&W!!!
Thank you, Michael

You could improve it by upping the sampling rate but on a good stereo it's not ever going to sound as good as a CD. The convenience is great, though, and if you're listening to it as background music you're all set. If you're going to sit and enjoy the true listening experience it's better to stick with the CD (or DVD audio).

  • IPOD TOUCH AND HOME STEREO

    All,
New to the board. I have an Ipod Touch, and wanted to play it through my home stereo which is a Denon, and has the Aux outputs in the front. There is a Video - aux, and 2 slots for audio. I went and bought the cable that indicated for IPOD (Touch) to Home stereo. But when I plugged it into the stereo, no sound came out.
i made sure the selection was on Aux, but still not sound? Am I missing something? Is there any outputs on the back of the receiver I could use?
    HELP???

You need to plug it into an input, not an output.

  • Playing Back Through a Home Stereo

What type of Audio connector cable do I need to use if I want to play my iphone4 through a home stereo
Can I use a stereo mini to Rca

I'd suggest checking with the Mfg. of your receiver, many sell an iPod/iPhone dock connector for this purpose.

  • Imovie through my home stereo?

I enjoy front row and it seems to work really well. I love listening to itunes through my home stereo with the use of an Airport Express. BUT... When I play a movie on imovie, or watch a slide show through iphoto the sound comes from the dinkie little computer speakers. Does anyone know how to pipe the sound through my airport express? Thanks in advance!

There isn't a way to do this from within Front Row. However there are 3rd party applications that allow you to configure your computer to do this (I can't recall their names off hand). Basically they intercept the audio and then pipe it out to whatever output you wish (in this case the Airport Express).

  • Playing music from my iPad through my home stereo?

Can I play music from my iPad through my home stereo using AirPlay and an Airport? Is this the way to go?

Do you actually have to have either an TV or an AirPort Express on your network in order to get the AirPlay icon to appear? Because I cannot find it, but I do not have either device.
How/Where do you find it in the Video app?

  • Trouble connecting Ipod touch to home stereo.

Hello, I have an Ipod Touch 3rd gen.  I currently use it mostly in my car and I use a simple aux 3.5 mm jack from the itouch to my aux input on my car stereo to listen to music.  Works great.  Now, I have been trying to get my ipod to connect to either of my home stereo receivers without any luck.  I have a 3.5mm jack from the itouch going to 2 rca inputs on the back of the stereo.  When I try to get it to play, it sometimes will play but it is not loud at all and sounds very distorted.  I can sort of hear the music but the vocals are very quiet.   This happens on both of my home stereos.  I was thinking of getting another cable that goes from the 30 pin connector on the bottom to the 2 rca inputs.  Do you think this would be better?  Or do I not have something configured right with the itouch?  Its just weird that it works fine in my car but not with the home stereo.  Thanks for the input.

  • Problems connecting iPod to car & home stereo

Whenever I connect my iPod to my car or home stereo, I can only hear music out of one speaker. Is there a setting I need to adjust from the iPod itself in order to hear my music in stereo mode?
Please help, I'm leaving on tour tomorrow morning!

I'm connecting my iPod from the earphone jack into my home stereo using white & red RCA cables.
I'm also using a car adapter that plugs from the earphone & little flat slot next to it and this to the cigarette lighter.
Neither way am I able to hear my music in stereo.

  • How to improve iTunes sound quaility through analog home stereo?

The core of my home stereo system is an old NAD 7140 stereo receiver and I really like the sound. I have set up a dedicated laptop (a bottom-end Lenovo Ideapad) that I just keep next to the stereo and use it as a storage device/glorified mp3 player. I keep all my "second tier" music there -- the music where I can live without a physical CD jewel case. I use a simple RCA/headphone y-cable to run from the Aux input in the back of the receiver to the headphone jack on the laptop.
The trouble is, the sound just isn't very good. It often sounds muddy and boomy with certain genres  -- old school rock n roll particularly. Hooking up my wife's MacBook Pro and using that as a player is an improvement, but it is still not 100%. My guess is that the soundcard on the Lenovo is just poor quality, while the soundcard on the MacBook is better, but that neither was really designed to interface that well with an analog stereo receiver.
So, I'm trying to figure out a way I can keep the NAD 7140 but get better sound out of my mp3 collection. And I don't want to spend an arm and a leg. I have heard that USB-based Digital Audio Converters may be the ticket -- something like the HRT Music Streamer II or the NuForce ICON. Is that a solution you folks  could recommend? Or is there another path I should take? BTW, I'm not a fanatic when it comes to sound quality. AAC is fine by me -- no need for FLAC or other lossless formats. I just want the sound routed through my laptop to come closer to the sound routed through the CD player. IF DACs only offer infinitesimal improvements, then I think I'll pass
I'd appreciate any insight you could give

No one listens to iTunes through an analog stereo????

  • Playing ipod through guitar amplifier (stereo/mono)

I play acoustic guitar gigs and would like to play my ipod through my amp during breaks. When I plug my ipod in, only the left signal comes out.
    I need to use a 1/8" to 1/4" adapter. I tried:
    1) stereo to stereo
    2) stereo to mono
Same result both times. Any ideas?

Nevermind. The 1/8" to 1/4", stereo to mono, appears to do what I need.

  • How to listen to iphone ipod through my car stereo?

Before the iphone, I had the ipod shuffle. I used the connector with the shuffle to my aux power plug-in and it worked great. This same connector fits the iphone but no music comes through the speakers? I sometimes get loud "cracks" like something is trying to connect and I've also gotten muffled sounds coming through. The connector I bought is an apple connector and iphone compatible. I tried turning on airport mode and that didn't do anything either. Do I need some other kind of connector? Why wouldn't apple make one connector to fit all their ipods? Very frustrating as I can't listen to my music on my phone while I'm driving.

Yet another thing to think about --
Your iPod or your Shuffle connects directly to your FM interface and plays.
The iPhone and the Touch don't connect directly to your FM -- they require an intermediary interface to "read" the program from the iPhone or Touch...in essence, it disables your iPhone or Touch while connecting to your FM auxilliary-in...in order to listen you need a program in-between that will allow you to change your music and listen, because your handheld iPhone/Touch becomes inopperable while it is hooked up to your FM interface.
Just a thought. I stuck with an FM transmitter when I found that I would be unable to use the direct cable interface with my Ford mach 300 stereo without yet another display interface on my dashboard...no thanks, already have my satellite radio interface there, no need for yet another one.

  • What is the best way to connect an ipod to a home stereo system

i forgot my ipad password - i entered the wrong password a number of times and am now locked out - what do i do to start again?

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:

The best way depends upon your stereo system. If you system has an AUX input you can get a cable that goes from the headphone jack to the AUX in

  • Is it ok to run audio through a home stereo

I am currently using a stereo system for my audio output for one of my macs (a new mac-mini, running Lion).
I've plugged a cable with a 3.5 mm plug (stereo) into the headphone jack on the mini. The cable splits into to two RCA style plugs, which I've then plugged into the back of an old stereo amplifier (using the aux. inputs). The amplifier is pushing a pair of large floor speakers.
The setup seems to work fine, though one channel seems to be louder than the other (I believe this is a problem with the amplifier itself).
It blows away any set of computer speakers I've ever used.
My question: is there any problem with doing this?
Is there any potential of causing damage to the computer?
Is there a better way to accomplish what I'm doing?

The aux input of your stereo is the right place to plug in your computer. You are fine in doing this. As to a better way of accomplishing what you are doing? Probably not. You have the stereo there, are happy with its sound, crank up the volume and be happy :-)

  • Using iPod Touch remotely while playing back through home stereo.

Hey, I'm not sure if this is possible but I'm interested in knowing if there is a set of accessories I can buy that will allow me to do this:
I want to play music through my home stereo. I want to use the iPod Touch to select which music is played, and I don't want to have to have the Touch plugged into anything.
The music doesn't necessarily need to be played from the Touch, it can be played from my computer instead, the Touch would just need to be able to control and browse my iTunes in this case. Or alternatively the Touch could stream music to some sort of station connected to the stereo.
Is this possible right now or do I need to wait for a new product to allow me to do this.
Lets say price is no concern right now, is there anything out there that would allow me to do this?
    Thanks

there is a web application currently that would allow the touch to remotly control ur itunes on ur computer i have not tried it....but it seems like it would be what u are interest in.....

  • Ipod through home stereo

I have connected my iPod to my home stereo as noted, with 3.5 mini jack to RCA to the input, but the sound is very low and poor. I have the volume also listed as noted.
Is anyone using any special type of cable or am I missing something. I've tried it on two different receivers and still coming up with the same results.

I used a non iPod cable Mini 3.5 jack on one side and two RCA plugs on the other...
Jack has three posts, so you should be using a connector with three lines/RCA plugs. However, you only plug in the two audio lines to your amplifier/receiver.
Do you mean that if I will buy the iPod video cable it does not work to listen music in home stereo ?
No. I'm saying that if you use a non-Apple cable the line designated as video is actually the right channel audio and the line designated as right channel audio is actually the video output. Apple pulled a little "sneaky" here.

  • 20G iPOD freezes when connecting to home stereo and other components

When i connect my iPOD to my home stereo through a docking station the iPOD buttons become disfunctional. it only plays one song and then it "shuts down". Not really shuts down because the iPOD is still on and as soon as i remove it from the docking station, it works fine again. Any ideas?

"However, most of the cables I find use the headphone output. "
Yep, thats fine, just get one of those!
