Hello Jenny Jam,
It would be risky to connect your iPod to your computer now (if it were recognized by iTunes). On the "automatic" (default) setting in iTunes, it would automatically update and delete all the songs off your iPod.
I doubt you want that to happen. I'll explain how to prevent this in a bit, but let's first get your iPod recognized by iTunes.
The first thing I'd do if your iPod isn't recognized by iTuens, would be to manually put it into disk mode:
Reset it, by holding the Menu and Select buttons for 5 seconds.
As soon as the Apple logo begins to appear, immediately release the buttons, and begin to press the Select and Play/pause buttons together for a few seconds. Your iPod will display "Disk Mode | OK to Disconnect".
Now, when we connect the iPod to your computer while in disk mode, it may be recognized by iTunes (that's what we want). But being reocgnized by iTunes means that it could possibly be cleared of all music.
So, get ready: leave the iTunes window up and running, connect your iPod to your computer. As soon as your iPod displays "Do Not Disconnect", begin to press and hold the "Shift" and "Ctrl" keys together for about 30 seconds.
If you see your iPod is recognized by iTunes, watch it and be sure that iTunes isn't auto-syncing songs off your iPod before letting off the keys after those 30 seconds.
If you would like to transfer songs from your iPod to your computer, just post back, and I can get you the info.
If your iPod isn't recognized by iTunes after putting it into disk mode, then post back with your results if it didn't work.
Be sure to list any kind of messages in iTunes, if you are getting any.
I hope this helps you,,
-Kylene

  • HT4859 every time I try to restore my ipod it does not work...how come?

every time I try to restore my ipod it does not work...how come?

The only way to clear off the passcode is to restore the device.  You could always try the restore process on another computer that has iTunes just to get the iPod working again, then you could plug it back into your comptuer to sync all of his content back on the iPod.

  • My iPOD simply will not work. Period. Can anyone help?

I have had problems with my iPod ever since I got it, and it has never functioned properly, even with the use of support. My iPOD simply will not work. It will not turn on, or charge. My computer will not recognize it, nor will iTunes. I took it to an Apple store for repairs, and they marked my total charge time at a whopping 6 minutes before it died. I worked temorarily after I got it back, and it hasn't turned on since. It has never been dropped or mistreated.
Does anyone know what could possibly be wrong? Is there any way to get it replaced without having to spend to buy a new one, since mine never really worked in the first place? Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

"Is there any way to get it replaced without having to spend to buy a new one"
If it's under warranty, send it in for service or replacement. If not, then the answer's no.
    Presumably you've tried all these?
    iPod won't turn on.
    iPod battery doesn't charge.
Your Windows PC doesn't recognize the iPod is connected.
"I took it to an Apple store for repairs, and they marked my total charge time at a whopping 6 minutes before it died"
So why didn't you leave it at the store for service or repair?
    Sounds like a bad battery.

Try # 2 and 3 in link below. If neither work, your screen digitizer might need to be replaced.

  • My iPod Touch is not working with Bose SoundDock.  How can I fix it?

My iPod Touch is not working with Bose DoundDock Series II.  Can anyone suggest how I can get these 2 to work together?

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one with a new battery for $79 Y can do the exchange at an APple store or sent it in.. They do not fix yours.

My lock button on my 1 g iPod touch is not working???

Its possibly because its only a 1g iPod. I suggest you either get a newer iPod or bring it to an Apple store and see what they can do.

If after you charge it for about three hours and it only last about five minutes the battery is probably dead or there could be another hardware problem.  I would go back to the Apple store and ask them specifically how can it be OK if the fully charged battery only lasts five minutes.

  • My ipod touch is not working at all pls HELP, my ipod touch is not working at all pls HELP

My iPod touch is not working at all,i did everything i could and still it doesnt work,i live in the philippines my idea of solving this problem is to send it back at Apple California we do have service centre here but i dont trust them,i dont know what to do,I REALLY NEED YOUR HELP

Quite possibly.  It wouldn't hurt to try another one if at all possible. If you have to, borrow one from a friend.  It could also be due to debris in the docking port of your iPod.  Take a look on the inside of the port and make sure there is no lint or anything like that.  Also look for broken pins as they would definitely cause connection issues as well.

  • My 4th gen ipod touch will not work in a philips or Sony docking station

I bought a philips(DC320) clock radio and my ipod touch would not work in it.  Thinking it was a problem with the connector on the radio I returned it and bought a Sony ICF-CS15ip because the store was out of the philips radio.  When I plugged my 4th gen ipod touch into that again my Ipod touch would not play through the radio but the radio would recognize and charge the ipod.  I tried my daughter's 2nd gen ipod touch in the Sony and it worked great.  So It looks like there is a problem with the my ipod.  Sony claims that the ICF-CS15ip is compatible with the 4th gen ipod touch and I have the latest IOS 5.1.1 on my ipod.  Any suggestions before I go to the Apple store?  The Ipod is only 6 months old.

You can try the standard fixes:
    - Reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory defaults/new iPOd.
That has worked for some users.
However, sometimes an iOS update will break compatibility. In that case yo have to wait for either Apple or the dock manufacturer to issue a firmware update.
